OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro design renders surface online yet again

New renders of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro have surfaced online yet again, giving us a glimpse of the upcoming successors to the OnePlus 8 series. There are several reports hinting at the possibility of an early launch of the OnePlus 9 series in March 2021. The OnePlus 8T was launched on October 14 but rumours and speculations around OnePlus 9 are starting to take shape now.

According to a report by LetsGoDigital in collaboration with Concept Creator that reveals the new renders of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, we can see the two phones carry forward the rectangular camera module that debuted on the 8T. The curves on the side are seemingly more pronounced in the new renders while the OnePlus 9 is said to feature a flat-screen like the 8T.

Recently, popular tipster OnLeaks posted the CAD renders of the alleged OnePlus 9 Pro that gave us a glimpse of the Pro variant in the OnePlus 9 series. However, shortly afterwards, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau sent out a tweet stating that “No design is ever set in stone. Because if it were, it wouldn't be a very lightweight smartphone.”

The phone is expected to feature a quad-camera setup as has been indicated by the renders. The OnePlus 9 is also expected to feature a bigger display than the OnePlus 8T that could have 120Hz refresh rate.

The OnePlus 9 is likely to come powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 processor and could also bring 65W fast charging along with the flat-display. Qualcomm will announce its latest flagship processor at an event on December 1.

Another report has allegedly revealed the camera details of the OnePlus 9 and the phone is expected to have a triple camera setup on the back. The OnePlus 9 is rumoured to have a 48MP primary camera with a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a macro or monochrome sensor. As for the OnePlus 9 Pro, it is expected to feature a quad-camera setup on the back with both phones supporting 120Hz refresh rates.

OnePlus 9 series leaked specifications

OnePlus 9 is expected to feature a 6.55-inch display while the OnePlus 9 Pro is rumoured to come with a 6.7-inch screen. Moreover, there are rumours that the screen supports 120Hz refresh rate and not 144Hz as was speculated previously.

OnePlus 9 series is rumoured to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 processor that’s due out in December. The leak indicates that the upcoming phones in the series could have IP68 certification, NFC and dual stereo speakers. The company could also provide the same 65W fast charging that it debuted with the OnePlus 8T in October along with support for 40W fast wireless charging.

Moto G 5G vs OnePlus Nord: Snapdragon 750G vs 765G compared

Moto G 5G has just launched in India as an affordable 5G smartphone in the mid-range segment. While Indian telecom companies are yet to deploy a 5G network, there is no scarcity of phones supporting 5G connectivity in India. However, 5G as a feature was commonly seen on phones in the high-end and premium segment until the launch of Moto G 5G.

With the Moto G 5G, the company has launched the device at Rs 20,999 in India, making it the most affordable 5G smartphone available in the country. At the price, it goes up against the OnePlus Nord which is its closest 5G competitor starting at Rs 24,999. So how does the Moto G 5G stand against the OnePlus Nord? We find out in this specification based comparison of the Moto G 5G and OnePlus Nord.

Moto G 5G vs OnePlus Nord: pricing and availability

The Moto G 5G is priced at Rs 20,999 in India for the sole 6GB+128GB option and will sell online on Flipkart.

The OnePlus Nord starts at Rs 24,999 for the base 6GB+64GB variant, Rs 27,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant and Rs 29,999 for the 8GB+256GB storage option. The phone can be purchased from Amazon India and OnePlus India store.

Moto G 5G vs OnePlus Nord: Design and Display

The Moto G 5G has a plastic build with a squircle camera module on the back while the OnePlus Nord uses Gorilla Glass 5 on the back and a plastic frame. The Moto G is also tad a bit thicker and heftier than the Nord due to the bigger display and battery. It measures 9.9 millimetres in thickness and weighs 212 grams while the Nord is 8.2 millimetres thin weighing in at 184 grams.

The display is where things get interesting for a bit as the Moto G offers a larger 6.7-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display that uses an LCD panel and is certified for HDR10 playback.

On the other hand, you get an AMOLED screen on the Nord that measures 6.44-inch and supports 90Hz high refresh rate along with HDR10+ playback. Additionally, the screen on the Nord is topped with a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 which is something the Moto G doesn’t offer.

Moreover, when choosing between the two, it often boils down to the personal preference of either going with a larger screen or slightly smaller display that supports a 90Hz refresh rate.

Moto G 5G vs OnePlus Nord: Under the hood

Moto G 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor that is fabricated on an 8nm process and brings 5G support to the mid-range segment. The Snapdragon 750G has an octa-core processor with two prime cores running at 2.2GHz and six power-efficient cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The GPU on board is the Adreno 619.

On the OnePlus Nord, we get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor that is fabbed using a smaller 7nm process and Adreno 620 GPU. There is an octa-core CPU on board that features two performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and 2.2GHz respectively along with six power-efficient cores running at 1.8GHz.

The Moto G 5G is the first phone with the Snapdragon 750G to arrive in India and it will be interesting to see how it fares in benchmarks and real-world usage against the OnePlus Nord. The Snapdragon 750G uses Kryo 570 cores which is also used on the Snapdragon 865. This was the reason why Geekbench scores of Snapdragon 750G reported earlier seemed better than those of the Snapdragon 765G. Having said that, we will be conducting our own independent tests to see whether the Moto G 5G is able to hold its fort against the OnePlus Nord.

Moto G 5G runs on Android 10 with a light skin featuring some customisations while the OnePlus Nord brings in the same OxygenOS 10 experience that is found in its premium phones.

With the Moto G 5G, users also have an option to expand the storage further by adding a microSD card of upto 1TB. The Nord does not offer such support. Other than that, both the phones have the same set of connectivity features including Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi and USB Type-C.

The ‘batwing’ logo on the Moto G 5G doubles up as a fingerprint reader while the Nord offers an in-screen fingerprint reader.

Moto G 5G vs OnePlus Nord: Cameras

Moto G 5G has a triple camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 48MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 118-degree field-of-view and a 2MP macro camera.

On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera housed within the punch hole cutout in the centre. The rear cameras can record in 4K at 30FPS and supports EIS.

As for the Nord, it offers a quad-camera setup on the back that has a primary 48MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS support, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 119-degree field-of-view, a 5MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera.

The OnePlus Nord has two selfie cameras on the front, a primary 32MP camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 105-degree field-of-view. The rear cameras can record in 4K at 30FPS with support for OIS and EIS.

We will be testing the camera on the Moto G 5G in detail before drawing conclusions based on the spec-sheet.

Moto G 5G vs OnePlus Nord: Battery

The Moto G 5G is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery that supports 20W fast charging. The Nord, on the other hand, offers a 4,115mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging.

Here again, the choice is between going for a larger battery phone or a phone with a slightly smaller battery but fast charging support that offers faster recharge times as compared to normal speeds.

FAU-G is up for pre-registration on Google Play Store

nCore games have announced that it has opened pre-registrations for FAU-G: Fearless and United Guards. Those interested can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store here. This development comes just a few days after Google effectively purged all fake FAU-G clones looking to cash in on the game’s hype. To recall, the game was announced by Bollywood actor, Akshay Kumar. The developers released a trailer in October, where they promised to launch the game by the end of November. It is not yet known when exactly the game will be made available for download. Those who choose to pre-register can choose to be notified when the game will be available for download, or download the game automatically the moment it becomes available.

On the auspicious occasion of Gurupurab, we are starting the pre-registrations of FAU-G: Fearless And United Guards. Pre-register and be the first to play the game. #FAUG #BeFearless Pre-registration link: https://ift.tt/37r6VLA @akshaykumar #happygurupurab

— nCORE Games (@nCore_games) November 30, 2020

The appearance of the game on the Google Play Store also gives us a deeper understanding of what the game is going to be about. This includes the description of the game, its age rating as well as a screenshot in particular which seems to show the game’s main menu.

The game’s description is pretty much what we know already about the game's setting. It reads, “Join a special unit of FAU-G commandos on patrol in dangerous border territory. Come face-to-face with India’s enemies as you engage with hostile invaders on Indian soil. Fight for survival against the unforgiving terrain and the implacable enemy. Fill the shoes of a patriotic soldier and experience the bravery, brotherhood, and sacrifice of the men guarding the country’s borders.”

The FAU-G’s listing also confirms that it features in-game purchases. It should be noted that the company will be donating 20% of the net revenue generated to the Bharat Ke Veer Trust. Further, the game is listed for those who are at least 16-years-old.

Finally, the screenshot of the main menu also gives us a little insight into what the game will offer at launch. At the centre is presumably our in-game avatar, who is holding what seems to be an improvised axe that seems to be a part of a bicycle case attached to a bit of wood. This, combined with the other artwork, suggests that the game will not feature weapons and will have a focus on melee combat. Further, in the top right corner of the screen, we see two sets of in-game currency. We can speculate that one will be the free currency that players get for free, while the other is a premium currency that players will have to pay for. At the bottom left is the store where players will be able to make in-game purchases. At the top left, we can either see the player level status or the map selection screen, we don’t know for sure yet. At the bottom right is the button to start playing.

It should be noted that the minimum requirements for the game is not yet known as that section only notes that it varies for each device.

Microsoft Teams will stop working for all users on IE11 from today onward

Microsoft announced earlier this year that Microsoft Teams, a popular video conferencing application, is all set to lose support and compatibility on Internet Explorer 11. The move is set in motion to urge users to shift to the new Chromium-based Edge browser.

Microsoft has also announced that from 17 August  2021, remaining Microsoft 365 services will also be discontinued on IE11. This announcement states that just after ending the support for the legacy Microsoft Edge browser on 9 March 2021, it would be applied to the Microsoft 365 services.

The company on its official blog post announced that users will have a degraded experience or won’t be able to connect to the Microsoft 365 services or apps.

“For degraded experiences, new Microsoft 365 features will not be available or certain features may cease to work when accessing the app or service via IE 11. While we know this change will be difficult for some customers, we believe that customers will get the most out of Microsoft 365 when using the new Microsoft Edge. We are committed to helping make this transition as smooth as possible.” was quoted by Microsoft on its blog.

Microsoft teams stop working on IE11

We can see that support for IE11 has been greatly decreasing and support for legacy-based edge browser is also in its last phase.

You can download the latest version of Microsoft Edge from here, it is now available for Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, iOS, Android, and macOS. So even if you are using an older version of Windows, you would still be able to upgrade your browser experience and continue working with Microsoft apps.

Google removes all fake FAU-G apps from the Play Store

It looks like Google has purged all fake FAU-G apps from the Play Store. As of writing, searching for ‘faug’ or ‘fau-g’ does not result in any apps being suggested. This would come as good news for the developer of FAU-G, nCore games, as well as the players in general. To recall, The Google Play Store was littered with fake versions of the apps that tried to cash-in on the hype surrounding the upcoming game. These games used multiple techniques in order to get people to download them. Some used the same acronym or sounded the same as FAU-G, while others used the same game logo. Most claimed to be a guide for the game, but considering the fact that the game has not been released yet, it’s not known who these guides were for or if the information in these guides was even accurate.

fake FAU-G apps have been removed from the Play Store

Those who ended up downloading any of these apps could end up with a bunch of issues. If the user is lucky, they could end up with a cheap asset-flipped game that looks and plays terribly. If they were unlucky, the app could contain malware that may steal data. As such, players are better off waiting for the game to officially release.

Speaking of the game’s launch, FAU-G was supposed to release in November. However, it looks like the game has been delayed. The reason for the delay is not yet known as nCore Game’s Twitter account has been pretty quiet since releasing a trailer for the game on Dussehra. The trailer focused on the Galwan Valley, which seems to suggest that the game will be based on the clashes that happened between Indian and Chinese forces earlier this year. It also shows no firearms, suggesting that the combat will be melee-focused. You can know more about that here.

As the phone has already been announced we already know its key specifications and features.

Vivo V20 Pro specifications

CD Projekt Red says Cyberpunk 2077s multiplayer will almost be a stand-alone game by itself

As we reported earlier, CD Projekt Red has said that Cyberpunk 2077’s DLC would be announced when the game was released on December 10. Well, we’ve got more news coming up as CD Projekt Red President Adam Kicinski has also said that the game’s multiplayer ‘mode’ will be an almost stand-alone game by itself. According to a transcription of an earnings call by SeekingAlpha, Adam Kicinski said, “So, first, we don't call it modes. It's a separate, dedicated production, a big production. We think about it as a standalone product.”

So what does that mean? Well, for one, the game could still be connected to the main Cyberpunk 2077 single-player world but will offer completely different experiences, missions and so on. The company has been keeping the multiplayer portion of the game under wraps for now, but we do expect CD Projekt Red to make an official announcement soon enough. The game is scheduled to be launched on December 10, so we should definitely hear more about the various in-game modes then. Although, Kicinski has also said that we should get more news about the multiplayer mode during Q1 2021.

One thing to note is that the multiplayer portion of the game will have micro transactions but it isn't clear at all what kind of game economy it will follow. Rest assured that if you want a particular piece of gear, you may have to pay for it. But CD Projekt Red have also said that the company intended t deliver a value for money product even when it comes to micro transactions.

Well, all we can do right now is wait for the game to come  out on December 10. Stay tuned to Digit for more Cyberpunk 2077 news and updates.

Call of Duty: Mobile to get new version of Nuketown map in Season 13 update

It’s the end of the month and pretty much like clockwork, Activision has started teasing the next big update to Call of Duty: Mobile's upcoming Season 13. The developers have teased a new map coming to the game, and as always, internet sleuths have already deduced that the next seasonal update will be the new version of the ever-popular Nuketown map. This time around, it looks like players will be treated to a Russian-themed version of the map that was seen in Call of Duty: Back Ops 4.

Bundle up! It has been getting quite chilly lately...⁣ ⁣ Coming to #CODMobile in the next season! pic.twitter.com/cEDQjb86Tm

— Call of Duty: Mobile (@PlayCODMobile) November 28, 2020

The tweet itself doesn’t reveal much about what’s to come, but the house shown in the image is a dead-ringer for the one used in the Russian-version of Nuketown. This version of Nuketown is functionally identical to the standard version of Nuketown, which is a Russian twist. So you get Russian-style buildings and instead of trucks and busses in the middle, players will find Russian locomotives. The map in Black Ops 4 also features snow, which would match the overall winter theme considering that the Season 13 update will run through December.

Nuketown as it appears in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (image credit: calllofduty.fandom.com)

It is not yet known if the new map will replace the existing Nuketown map, or will exist as a separate map. It is also not yet known if the new Nuketown will be a temporary addition or not, just like the Halloween-themed version of the Standoff map. It looks like we’ll just have to wait and find out.

However, the Season 12 ‘Going Dark’ update is still going on. As the name would imply, the update brought with it special night modes for Crash, Summit and the new Hackney Yard maps. The new mode makes it pretty much impossible to see anything without night vision goggles and as a result, colour and detail takes a hit, making it much harder to differentiate between friend and foe. Besides this and the aforementioned Hackney Yard map, players also got two new weapons. A new SMG and a new pistol. The SMG comes with the option to use 5.56mm ammunition, which lets users use it like an assault rifle, while the pistol comes with the ‘akimbo’ perk.

Xiaomi Redmi 9A base variant price hiked by Rs 200 in India

Xiaomi has increased the price of the Redmi 9A base variant by Rs 200 in India. The new price is effective both for online and offline retail stores and now people looking to buy the Redmi 9A will have to shell out Rs 200 more. The Redmi 9A was launched in India earlier in September starting at Rs 6,799 as an entry-level phone in the Redmi 9 series.

As per a report by MySmartPrice, Xiaomi has sent an email to its authorised partners detailing the increase in the price of the Redmi 9A with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. The original price of this model was Rs 6,799 but now the company has increased it by Rs 200, bringing it to Rs 6,999. Do note however, the second variant with 3GB RAM continues to retail at Rs 7,499.

The Redmi 9A is one of the most affordable Xiaomi phones in the entry-level segment followed by the Redmi 9i, Redmi 9 and Redmi 9 Prime. The 9A features a big display, octa-core processor and a large capacity battery to boot.

Xiaomi Redmi 9A specifications

Xiaomi Redmi 9A features a 6.53-inch HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution display with a waterdrop notch cutout on top for the selfie camera. Heres how you can view a users WhatsApp status without them ever finding out

WhatsApp users know by now that the status on the app is available for 24 hours and then it disappears. The feature was introduced about two years ago and has since been revamped for users to share videos and photos with their friends and contacts. When you do check the WhatsApp status of a particular user, the users is then notified and knows who checked it. But, there is a way for you to check someone's status without them finding out.

You can use the ‘Read Receipt’ feature on WhatsApp to access this option. Essentially what the ‘ Read Receipt’ feature does is show you who’s read your message. When you see a message that has been sent by you with two tick marks, it means that the message has been delivered. When the tick marks turn blue, it means that the message that you’ve sent has been read by the receiver. Now, when you turn the ‘Read Receipts’ feature off, it also has the added benefit of not letting the person whose status you’ve checked out know about it.

Remember that when you do turn off the feature, you will not be able to see who has checked out your status as well. It’s essentially a one-way street, really. So, if you’re going to be a bit sneaky about it, you could ideally turn off the ‘Read Receipt’ feature every time you want to check up on someone’s status. But, honestly, who really has the time for that? Plus, you don't want to seem like a stalker do you? In fact, we've even got article on all the new options and features on WhatsApp that you can check out, right here.

Sony reportedly banning PS5 users selling PlayStation Plus Collection enabled accounts to PS4 users

If you have a brand new PS5, then one of the things worth checking out is the PlayStation Plus Collection. It is a curation of 20 games (10 first-party games and 10 third party games) to give owners of the new console access to some of the best games available on the previous generation consoles.

However, it looks like PS5 users are exploiting the service and “selling” access to their account to PS4 owners. Since all 20 games are backwards compatible, users with a PS4 will be able to access the games. According to VGC, “One user had made £100+ charging over 20 users £5 each to unlock the PS Plus Collection on their PS4 consoles. According to many users on a popular Chinese forum, Sony has issued multiple bans in the region for both PS5 owners selling access to the PS Plus Collection and those PS4 owners who have purchased access to it.”

It looks like the account will be banned for a period of 2 months and “any PS5 consoles involved in the scheme have been permanently blocked from network services”.

PlayStation Plus Collection is an attempt from Sony to take on Xbox Game Pass. While Xbox Game Pass offers first-party games on launch date and has a catalogue of 100+ games, PlayStation Plus Collections is a kickstart for PS5 owners that don't want to spend a lot on games. Sony also has a service called PlayStation Now giving users access to more than 800 games. PlayStation Now isn't available in India and you can learn more about the service here.

Speaking of the PS5, the console is available worldwide and even though India has a price for the console, there is no official launch date yet. We got our hands on the PS5 and you can check out our unboxing and first look of the console here.

PUBG Mobile yet to receive permission from Govt of India to resume operations: report

PUBG Mobile may have revealed its plans for a comeback to India but the developers are yet to receive permission from the government for officially resuming operations, as per the latest report. PUBG Corporation announced a new version of PUBG Mobile for the Indian users on November 12 and since then, fans of the popular battle royale game have waited with bated breath for it to land on the Play Store and App Store.

According to a report by InsideSport that cites sources in the MEITY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology), neither PUBG Corp nor PUBG India has been permitted to resume operations in India, Moreover, the source told InsideSport that the government remains firm on its stance for the ban put on the game since September 2.

The report also quotes another Ministry official who said, “Any banned entity can’t operate just by floating a new company. This even Tik Tok or anyone else can do. They will have to get permissions from MEITY to operate once again in India.”

Recently, PUBG India Pvt Ltd was established as a subsidiary based out of Bangalore, however, the latest report indicates that it is not a substantial development for the ban to be revoked. The company has definitely made headway into the launch of PUBG Mobile India and has already released a dedicated website, Instagram, Facebook handles and a YouTube channel.

PUBG Corp needs to address the privacy and security concerns of the Indian government for the new version of PUBG Mobile to launch in India. To this end, the developer’s parent company Krafton Inc recently inked a deal with Microsoft for using the Azure cloud service to store users' data in an attempt to ensure personal data protection.

PUBG Mobile India was rumoured to release on November 20 in India, however, we were able to confirm that it wasn’t the case and players will have to wait longer. The company has released a teaser for the return of PUBG Mobile in India featuring three popular PUBG Mobile players-- Aaditya ‘Dynamo’ Sawant, Jonathan Amaral and Chetan ‘Kronten’ Chandgude.

PUBG Mobile India is set to release sometime soon and will feature customized content including a virtual simulation training ground, clothed characters from the start, green hit effects and restriction settings on game time to inculcate healthy gaming habits in younger players. Here are answers to some of the common questions about the return of PUBG Mobile in India.

Cyberpunk 2077 Edition OnePlus 8T teardown reveals interesting design and aesthetic changes

As we eagerly wait for Cyberpunk 2077 to release, OnePlus is already a step ahead as the company released the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition phone back in November. Well, we've also got a teardown of the phone, courtesy of PBKreviews on Youtube.

The teardown reveals that it has the same internals as the OnePlus 8T, but it has the OnePlus signature Sandstone back, as there appears to be vinyl skin/texture applied at the underside of the back glass to give the sandstone look. The camera glass on the back is also only for aesthetic purpose and houses the standard OnePlus 8T camera.

Once the camera module is removed, the sandwich styled motherboard, housing the powerful Snapdragon 865 Soc along with 12GB RAM, is removed and shows that to handle thermals, it is covered with thermal paste, copper tape, and graphite film with the bottom of the motherboard connecting to the copper vapor chamber to dissipate heat.

The battery of the OnePlus 8T is where it shines as it has a dual battery setup that offers upto 65W dash charging and in the teardown, we can see one 2,200mAh battery glued to a 2,250mAH battery. The copper chamber also extends below the battery for a larger area to dissipate heat.

The teardown shows that replacement of the screen is a tedious process as you have to first go through the removal of all the components from the back of the phone and only then after removing the backplate you can access the screen of the phone.

The performance of this phone should be the same as OnePlus 8T, and you can check our review of the OnePlus 8T here.

Leaked benchmarks show NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti outperforms RTX 2080 Super

The new Ampere cards possess more performance than their predecessors as the leaks suggest from Videocardz, the performance of the NVIDIA RTX 3060Ti is either on par or better than the Turning architecture based RTX 2080 Super. As per the leaked slide for the RTX 3060Ti, the tests were carried out on an Intel Core i9-10900K CPU at 2560 x 1440 resolution, no other information was provided about RAM or motherboard used.

Given the numbers and performance improvements in the new cards, they could be crushing the market of budget gamers as the 3060Ti is rumored to be priced at $399 (roughly Rs 30,000 directly converted), while the RTX 2080 Super currently costs around $699 (roughly Rs 52,000 directly converted). While the speculated launch of the new card is just around the corner on December 2 (yet to be announced), we know from the previous launches of the RTX 3000 series cards that NVIDIA has been making significant strides with the Ampere architecture.

Nvidia RTX 3060

Looking at the numbers from Videocardz, in 3DMark Fire Strike test, the RTX 3060Ti performed between RTX 3070 and RTX 2080 Super. The RTX 3060Ti scored 30706 when compared to the 28980 score of the previous generation RTX 2080 Super and 34200 of the RTX 3070. Performance in 3DMark Time Spy test yielded similar rankings of the cards, as the 3070 scored 13740, compared to 11640 score of RTX 2080 Super and 12175 points for the RTX 3060Ti.

Nvidia RTX 3060 benchmarks

In gaming benchmarks, the non-ray tracing (rasterized) scores show that RTX 3060Ti is about 10 percent faster than RTX 2080 Super in Red Dead Redemption 2, Doom Eternal, and Horizon Zero Dawn while performing similarly in Gears of War 5. In ray-tracing enabled games, it shows an improvement of about 20-40 percent in games such as Wolfenstein Youngblood and Minecraft RTX. The cards show promising improvements in rendering applications such as Blender and Arnold with improvements almost up to 50 percent.

Given the current shortages of new generation cards from NVIDIA, it is likely that this card would be the go-to choice for gamers in the entry-level segment given the $399 price. Interested gamers would have to either pre-book the card or keep on checking the NVIDIA inventory for the availability of the new cards.

JioGames announces Clash Royale tournament in India

JioGames will be hosting a 27-day Clash Royale tournament in India in partnership with the game’s developer, Supercell. The tournament is open to all and there are no registration fees involved. The company notes in its press release that the winner will be “bestowed” with the “India Kaa Gaming Champion” title. The semi-finals, as well as the finals of the tournament, will be streamed on JioTV.

Registration for the tournament is already underway and will go on till December 19. The finals will be held between December 21 and December 25. While the exact prize pool is not known, Jio notes that winners will get “big cash prizes” as well as weekly giveaways.

Those interested can register by clicking here.

Players will need maximum wins in the ‘1-versus-1’ games in order to qualify for the finals. However, the company did not specify how many wins will be needed to qualify.

Unlike Free Fire, PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty: Mobile, Clash Royale is a strategy game that challenges their wits as much as their reflexes. However, those with a penchant for something with more action should check out one of the many Free Fire and Call of Duty: Mobile tournaments that are popping up. If you prefer Free Fire, then Qualcomm’s first foray into esports in India might be just what you are looking for. The tournament is called Snapdragon Conquest: Free Fire Open 2020 and details for that will be revealed soon. If Call of Duty: Mobile is your preferred cup of tea, then Nodwin Gaming’s first-ever standalone Call of Duty: Mobile tournament called Call of Duty Mobile India Challenge 2020 might be just what the doctor ordered. This tournament will offer 5v5 multiplayer as well as battle royale. So games can choose a mode they are most comfortable with.

Apple to move manufacturing from China to Vietnam

Apple has asked Foxconn to move the production of MacBooks and iPads manufacturing units to Vietnam as Reuters reports. According to the reports Apple wants to diversify the supply chain due to the ongoing disputes between China and the US. The assembly line would start production in the first half of 2021 at Foxconn’s Bac Giang province according to the Reuters source.

The report doesn’t list out any specific models of the iPad and MacBook lineup which would be shifting to Vietnam or how much production capacity would be shifting to Vietnam. It looks like  Apple has already started the production of Apple AirPods Pro in Vietnam earlier this year. Apple has already been manufacturing certain iPhone models in India, since before the US-China trade war to meet the local import duty regulations and contribute to the Make in India initiative.

Nikkei reported earlier this week, that Foxconn is planning to invest $270 million in Vietnam to expand production and also reports that Foxconn is planning to move almost 30 percent of its production out of China. In the wake of Foxconn expanding its footsteps in Vietnam, other companies such as Pegatron and Wistron have also decided to expand in Vietnam.

Vietnam is geographically close to China and also is a part of RCEP, making it convenient for the procurement of raw materials and shipping out the products for vendors and suppliers. Vietnam also has cheap labour which would make it a viable choice and probably a replacement for China in the near future.

It looks like the PS5 is outperforming the Xbox Series X in some games: Heres Why

The launch of a new console generation which happens once every 5 or 7 years is filled with excitement, bugs and the ever-prevalent question - which console is more powerful. While we won't see games exploiting the full potential of the next-gen systems for the next few years, early analysis shows that the PS5 runs some third-party games better than the Xbox Series X. This comes as a bit of a surprise since the Series X on paper is the more powerful console.

The information about the difference in performance comes from Digital Foundry. Digital Foundry analysed the framerate resolution and performance of various games across the two consoles. These games include Devil May Cry 5, Dirt 5, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Call of Duty: Cold War.

While the performance of the PS5 isn't outright superior, the difference in performance is surprising. While in resolution mode in some games, the performance is better on the Series X, it is in the frame rates and stability of frame rates that the PS5 seems to be outperforming the Series X.

In a statement to The Verge, Microsoft said, “We are aware of performance issues in a handful of optimized titles on Xbox Series X|S and are actively working with our partners to identify and resolve the issues to ensure an optimal experience. As we begin a new console generation, our partners are just now scratching the surface of what next-gen consoles can do and minor bug fixes are expected as they learn how to take full advantage of our new platform. We are eager to continue working with developers to further explore the capability of Xbox Series X|S in the future.”

It looks like the difference in the performance of the two consoles has little to do with the hardware and more to do with the optimization of the games for the two machines. According to The Verge, “These performance gaps, weird bugs, and differences between the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions of games look like issues related to the games rather than a platform problem for the Xbox. If Microsoft delivered dev kits and tools far later than Sony, then it could take creators more time to optimize further for Xbox. It may also explain why we didn’t see a lot of Xbox Series X gameplay in the months ahead of launch, but Sony was happy to regularly deliver PS5 gameplay.”

With every console generation, we have seen that games launched during the beginning of generation are quite different in visual fidelity and performance to the ones that launch towards the end of the console's lifecycle. On the PS3, Uncharted: Drake's fortunes looked like a previous-gen game when compared to Uncharted 3 or even The Last of Us. Similarly, the visual fidelity in Gears of War 3 was far superior to Gears of War 1 on the Xbox 360. We’ve seen the same hold true for games on the PS4 and Xbox One.

While there are no Xbox Series X exclusive games yet to maximize the potential of the new hardware, there are games like Demon Souls that are exclusive to the PS5 because of the hardware on offer. We will have to wait till 2021 or even 2022 to see games that truly exploit the potential of the next generation.

PUBG Mobile India is reportedly available for a few people

It seems like PUBG Mobile India may already be in the hands of a select few people. According to a now-deleted tweet by popular YouTuber, Maxtern, the game is available for a select few and those individuals will only be allowed to upload videos a day before the official release of the game. He also suggests that he will be posting a ‘first look’ soon and that the servers are not working for the Indian version at the moment.

As mentioned earlier, Maxtern soon deleted the tweet, which may imply that he wasn’t supposed to reveal the information. Regardless, it isn’t uncommon for influencers, journalists and publications to receive games before launch in order to create content. This could include reviews, features or videos. This allows them to release content as soon as the game is launched. However, there is usually a strict embargo in place to ensure information does not leak beforehand.
