Battlegrounds Mobile India BGMI may return to Google Play Store in January 2023

The wildly-popular battle royale mobile game, BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), was banned in India by the government earlier this year. Krafton had previously assured its player base that it is working to bring the game back to India, but there's been no update on that front yet. However, Chicken Dinner lovers would be pleased to know the game could be making its way back on the Google Play Store.

According to AFKGaming, BGMI content creators Pratik "Alpha Clasher" Jogiya and Sohail "Hector" Shaikh claim that Battlegrounds Mobile India is returning to Android a.k.a. the Google Play Store very soon. The game will allegedly be playable on Android once again in India on January 15.

BGMI returning to the Google Play Store in January 2023

BGMI is allegedly returning to Android phones in India once again. BGMI content creators Pratik "Alpha Clasher" Jogiya and Sohail "Hector" Shaikh have both confirmed this. In Alpha Clasher's recent livestream, a player with the in-game name "predatorsasuke" joined the stream and claimed to have information regarding the relaunch of BGMI.

He claimed to have worked at Google and shared a tentative relaunch date of BGMI. He said, "You’d be very happy, BGMI will launch on Google Play Store on 15th January; it is a tentative date."

BGMI could be returning to the Google Play Store in January 2023

Not too long after Alpha's livestream, Hector also confirmed the timeline – revealing that BGMI is allegedly scheduled to return in January. He said, "The game is going to return in January, someone from Google said this. I don’t know this personally, but I have heard this. That person is someone important in the Google community; he is someone in a leadership position. It doesn’t matter if someone from the gaming community says that the game will return. That person said that the game would return on 15th January."

Do take all this information with a grain of salt since nothing concrete has been confirmed by Krafton or Google.

iPhone 14 Pros Dynamic Island gets new games around it: Here are some of the Dynamic Island games

As Apple iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users try out the new Dynamic Island feature, some app developers have created games around the new design on the home screen.

App developer Kriss Smolka has created a Pong-style game called 'Hit the Island'. It challenges the user to bounce a ball between the paddle and the Dynamic Island to earn points.

"Who has an iPhone 14 Pro right now? Need to test this on device asap. Hit The Island -- our game concept for iPhone 14 Pro, still laggy but it's turning out nice," he said in a tweet.

"As simple as it sounds, Hit The Island with the ball and score points. But wait, there is a catch! The ball speeds up. It can get cloned. Then the paddle shrinks!" according to the app on iOS store.

Christian Selig, the developer of Apollo app for Reddit, has added the fun option to keep a pixelated pet on the Dynamic Island when using the app.

"I found the best idea for the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. I added a cat that lives up there like a tamagotchi and just hangs out and does cute stuff as you browse Reddit in my app (Apollo)," Selig said.

The Dynamic Island enables new ways to interact with iPhone, featuring a design that blends the line between hardware and software, adapting in real time to show important alerts, notifications, and activities, according to Apple.

With the introduction of the Dynamic Island, the TrueDepth camera has been redesigned to take up less of the display area.

Without impeding content on the screen, the Dynamic Island maintains an active state to allow users easier access to controls with a simple tap-and-hold. Ongoing background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer remain visible and interactive, and third-party apps in iOS 16 that provide information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities can take advantage of the Dynamic Island.

3 Netflix games made in partnership with Ubisoft to arrive from 2023: Here are the details

Popular video streaming platform Netflix and Ubisoft on Monday announced they have partnered to create three mobile games from some of the game franchises for Netflix, starting in 2023.

The three games will expand on the Valiant Hearts, Mighty Quest and Assassin's Creed universes and will be available exclusively on mobile to Netflix members worldwide with no ads or in-app purchases.

"We are thrilled to work with Ubisoft, whose track record creating memorable worlds for fans is unmatched," Mike Verdu, Vice President of Games, Netflix, said in a statement.

"This partnership will provide our members with exclusive access to some of the most exciting game franchises as we continue to build a catalogue of great mobile games for our members around the world," Verdu added.

A new Valiant Hearts game, a sequel to Ubisoft's multi-award-winning game Valiant Hearts: The Great War, is directed by the original core team and will retain the same DNA while featuring a new story. It will be available to Netflix members in January 2023.

After the critically acclaimed The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot mobile game, The Mighty Quest will come to Netflix in 2023 with a new game. This time, the game will draw inspiration from the rogue-like genre to deliver an experience that celebrates the series' premiere hack-and-slash combat in a fresh and highly replayable format.

And for Assassin's Creed fans, they will be able to immerse themselves in the Assassin's Creed universe on Netflix in more than one way: in addition to the previously announced live-action series, an all-new mobile game is being developed exclusively for Netflix.

"As we continue to create great experiences on all platforms, we are glad to be partnering with such an innovative and creative partner as Netflix," said Jean-Michel Detoc, Chief Mobile Officer, Ubisoft.

Bitcoin crashes below 20K: Heres how low it is estimated to go this year

After showing some stabilisation in the last few weeks, world's largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin has plunged once again below $20,000 after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's keynote address. Bitcoin initially showed little reaction to Powell's remarks, but then nosedived sharply and on Sunday, it was hovering around $19,975 per digital coin which is more that 60 per cent drop in its value since last year when it reached a record-high of $68,000 in November. Bitcoin prices had stabilised around the $23,000 to $24,000 level after plunging below $20,000 in June. The prices of ethereum and other leading digital currencies have also rallied in the past two months, leading to hopes that this nascent market may have reached its bottom. But the optimism could be premature, and fleeting. Companies with direct ties to the crypto landscape continue to struggle, according to media reports. Bitcoin, despite the hype about it being digital gold, has turned out not to be an asset that performs well when inflation pressures are mounting and interest rates are spiking. Reports last month suggested that Bitcoin may tumble to $10,000 this year. A latest Bloomberg 'MLIV Pulse survey' revealed that the Bitcoin price is heading back to $10,000. Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary has also stated that Bitcoin price has not hit bottom yet. According to experts, the Bitcoin price will hit $10,000 before recovering to the $30,000 level. Bitcoin has seen its worst-ever days in recent months amid the economic meltdown, leaving several crypto exchanges and trading platforms winding up operations, laying off people, and freezing fresh hirings. The global cryptocurrency market lost at least $670 million in the April-June quarter (Q2), and 97 per cent of the losses were due to hacks and scams.

BGMI ban: Gaming companies urge Modi for uniform and fair treatment

New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) After the government ordered Google and Apple to ban popular battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), some gaming companies have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting for a 'fair treatment' to help foster the gaming ecosystem in the country.

The gaming platforms have urged the government to provide "a uniform and fair treatment of all entities operating in India", according to sources.

"While capital and infrastructure are critical to the survival and development of the industry, the leading global video gaming companies with their experience and next-generation technology are needed for establishing a robust gaming ecosystem in India," read the letter.

"There is a greater need for a clear set of standards and framework to ensure fairness and uniformity to all stakeholders. The industry wishes to pro-actively engage with the government in forming a robust set of video games-centric policies based on global best practices," the letter noted.

TechCrunch was first to report about the letter.

Late last month, the government ordered Google and Apple to block the BGMI gaming app from their respective online stores under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

The game developer Krafton had announced recently that BGMI surpassed 100 million registered users in India.

The letter requested Modi's urgent intervention in the matter, seeking his "counsel and guidance on working towards a more comprehensive dialogue and discussion in the future".

The ban on BGMI, which is the Indian version of PUBG, has resulted in a top e-sports event being postponed amid reports claiming a "China connection" behind the ban.

Esports Premier League (ESPL) Season 2 was postponed owing to the ban last week.

The esports event was set to see gamers from across the country with a prize pool of Rs 1 crore.

Googles learn-to-read app for kids now available as website

San Francisco, Aug 10 (IANS) Tech giant Google has introduced a new website -- Read Along -- to help kids learn to read independently with the help of an animated reading assistant named "Diya".

Read Along has been an Android app so far, which was first released as Bolo in India in 2019 and released globally as Read Along the following year.

"To make it accessible to more users, we have launched the public beta of the website version," Tasnim Khan Software Engineer, Read Along, said in a blog post.

"The website contains the same magic: Diya's help and hundreds of well-illustrated stories across several languages," Khan added.

With the web version, parents can let their children use Read Along on bigger screens by logging into a browser from smartphones, laptops or PCs at readalong.google.com.

Just like the Android app, all the speech recognition happens in the browser, so children's voice data remains private and we do not send it to any servers.

The company said that as kids read stories aloud, Diya listens and gives both correctional and encouraging feedback to help kids develop their reading skills.
