We have managed to get some new renders of the Fold3 from OnLeaks that give us a good look at what to expect from the upcoming successor to the Fold2. The Fold3 does not look very different from the previous generation. One of the major additions is the support for the S Pen stylus that will allow users to make use of all that screen estate. You can watch the video with the gorgeous 5K renders below or you can scroll down to read more granular details about the upcoming Fold3.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is thinner and lighter in comparison to the Fold 2. When folded, it measures 14.5 millimetres in thickness and 15.6 millimetres including the rear camera bump and when unfolded, Fold 3 has a thickness of just 6.6 millimetres which translates to 7.7 millimetres including the camera bump. The overall dimensions are 158.1 x 64.8 x 14.5mm (15.6mm including rear camera bump) when folded and roughly 158.1 x 128.1 x 6.6mm (7.7mm including rear camera bump) when unfolded.

There are triple cameras on the back stacked neatly in a vertical arrangement accompanied by an LED flash. The design of the camera module is a bit different and narrow from Fold 2 and looks much cleaner. While the exact details about the cameras remain under wraps, Fold 3 is expected to have a primary camera followed by a telephoto and ultra-wide sensors like we saw on Fold 2.

The leaked renders suggest that Fold 3 has a side-mounted fingerprint reader and it will be available in black, dark green and pink colours.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold3 is rumoured to launch sometime in August and we expect to hear more about it and the Flip3 as we near the launch.

MSI Pulse GL66 Gaming Laptop Review: Hits the sweet spot for 1080p gaming

The MSI Pulse GL66 is a great gaming laptop that can be used reliably for both gaming as well as creative workloads. The Intel Core i7-11800H and the RTX 3060 combo works very well to deliver solid performance numbers to compete with the best when it comes to 1080p gaming. I did find the display to be a little disappointing on our review unit, and the fans get overly loud to keep the temperatures in check. But besides that, the MSI Pulse GL66 hits the sweet spot for 1080p gaming.

MSI Pulse GL66 Gaming Laptop - Detailed Review

The arrival of Intel's new H45 processors sparked a new level of excitement amongst laptop enthusiasts. I had been waiting for the new crop of laptops with these processors to show up on the Indian market since the announcement, and MSI ended up being the first one to pull that trigger to make it happen before the other manufacturers.

MSI Pulse GL66

The MSI Pulse GL66 is powered by the 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11800H with 8 cores and 16 threads. But besides just the processor, the MSI Pulse GL66 appears to be a well-rounded package for gamers who are eyeing 1080p gaming on their laptop. Does it deliver on that front? Let's check out this full review of the laptop to know more.

Note - The MSI Pulse GL66 unit that we received for this review is an engineering sample which means the performance can be a bit off. It could either be slightly better or worse than the retail version that you'd end up buying on the market.

MSI Pulse GL66 Specifications

The MSI Pulse GL66 gaming laptop brings a solid set of specs to the table. The 11th gen Intel Core i7-11800H is coupled with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU with 6GB VRAM to deliver some promising results on the gaming front. Here's a quick look at the specifications of the MSI Pulse GL66 gaming laptop -

Processor: Intel Core i7-11800H - 8 cores and 16 threads. Base clock - 3.1Ghz & boost clock of 4.2Ghz. Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU with 6GB GDDR6 VRAM. Up to 1485MHz Boost Clock, 85W Maximum Graphics Power with Dynamic Boost. RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz Storage: 2x M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3) Display: 15.6" FHD (1920x1080), 144Hz, IPS-Level

MSI Pulse GL66 Performance

The MSI Pulse GL66, as mentioned earlier, is powered by one of the newer H45 processors from Intel. It's the Core i7 11800H in this case which has 8 Willow Cove cores and 16 threads. You are looking at a base clock of 3.1Ghz at 45W and it can achieve a single-core Boost of up to 4.6Ghz while all cores can run at up to 4.2Ghz. For graphics, it has an RTX 3060 GPU with 6GB VRAM and it's got a TGP of 80W  with 5W more for boost. Additionally, you get 16GB DDR4 RAM on board, 1TB NVMe drive, and a 1080p display with a refresh rate of 144Hz.

Starting off with the gaming performance, I ran a handful of games on this laptop ranging from GTA V to even some of the relatively newer titles like Control and Metro Exodus. Here's a quick look at the frame rate graph that should give you an idea of the kind of performance you can expect from this machine -

MSI Pulse GL66 Performance

As you can see, I was getting similar performance even on other titles across the board like Metro Exodus, Shadow Of Tomb Raider, Apex Legends, etc. and all were running at upwards of 100FPS and some even hitting the 144Hz mark, which is the kind of performance you can expect from an RTX 3060 that's configured to run at around 85W TGP.

For content creators, the 8 cores on the Core i7-11800H and the 3060 will deliver reliable performance too. For example, I was able to export 5 mins 1080p project in just a minute 41 seconds in Davinci Resolve. Moving over to Lightroom, the laptop was able to export 50 RAW files in 1 minute 35 seconds, 100 RAW files took just a little over 3 minutes, and 200 RAW files were rendered in just a little under 6 minutes. These render times were faster than what we saw on the ASUS Strix15 powered by the Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU.

MSI Pulse GL66

In the 3DMark tests, MSI Pulse GL66 scored 4,643 in FireStrike Ultra, and 7,271 in the Time Spy test. The scores here are slightly less than what the Zephyrus G15 managed to score recently when I reviewed it but the RTX 3060 GPU on that one is configured to run at a higher TGP. This is precisely why we put more emphasis on the TGP values of the mobile GPUs on these laptops these days.

MSI Pulse GL66 Thermals

Before talking about the surface temperatures, I want to give you some insights on the CPU and the GPU temps. Both CPU as well as the GPU, as you can see, were able to handle the loads very well. The CPU was sitting at around 90'C which is way under its TJMax limit of 100'C and even the GPU was running surprisingly cool in this chassis. I did notice the CPU hitting temps above 100'C which is above TJMax value and yes, it did throttle a bit but you know what? It wasn't a common occurrence in this laptop, and I didn't notice any heavy fluctuations in clock speeds as seen in this graph.

MSI Pulse GL66

As for the GPU, the max temperature I recorded was around 85'C, which is way below its TJMax limit. These thermal values were also due to the fact that I was mostly running the laptop at 'Extreme Performance' mode which mercilessly kicks off the fans immediately irrespective of the loads and it gets super-duper load.

MSI Pulse GL66

Yes, the fans on this machine get very aggressively loud and there's no way you are going to hear the in-game audio or even anything from that tiny speaker setup on the laptop, so do keep that in mind. It literally sounds like it's about to take off any moment. You do get a huge vent at the bottom of the chassis, and the hot air exits the laptop from the two vents on the back and the single vent on the side here. Despite all that, I did record a surface temperature of around 55°C at the hottest point. Yes, it does run a little hot, but it didn't affect the performance of the laptop.

MSI Pulse GL66 Display

Now let's talk about the display on the MSI Pulse GL66. You get a 15.6-inch 1080p panel here with a 144z refresh rate. Now, my experience while gaming on this laptop wasn't anything out of the ordinary. It's a basic 1080p panel that's suited for gaming thanks to the higher refresh rate. The main issue, however, is with colour accuracy. I put this panel through its paces to see exactly how it performs and found out that it's highly uncalibrated out of the box.

MSI Pulse GL66 Display test

The display showed heavy bias towards the blue colour and it was very evident looking at how much blue it was injecting. And because of this, the display ended up reproducing inaccurate colours, especially when it comes to the different shades of blue. A lot of other colours also ended up showing a huge variance and the DeltaE error I ended up recording was 4, which even a manual colour calibration couldn't fix beyond a certain limit.

MSI Pulse GL66 Display test

Even the sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage were nothing close to what MSI claimed. Adding on to that, it also doesn't get bright enough which made it all the more difficult to use outdoors, but thankfully it's got a matte finish that made it a little easier on the eyes. Overall, this isn't a great panel, unfortunately, and I hope the issue is exclusive to my "engineering sample" and the ones which you will end up buying on the market will have a better quality panel.

MSI Pulse GL66 Keyboard, trackpad, I/O

Moving on,  we have the keyboard, trackpad, and I/O. I'll start with the keyboard which basically has a nice set of keys with white details on the keycaps, backed by RGB lighting. It's got a clean layout with a NumPad and the arrow keys aren't small either. The key travel on these keys, I'd say is decent but I found the feedback to be on the softer side.

MSI Pulse GL66

The touchpad has some weird imprints, but they don't do anything nor do they light up. That being said, I am just happy that it's a responsive trackpad with Windows Precision drivers.

MSI Pulse GL66 ports

Coming to the ports, on the left side, you'll find the charging port along with a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and a USB Type-A 2.0 port. Switching to the right side, you will see an RJ-45 connector, an HDMI connector, a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, another USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and an audio jack.

MSI Pulse GL66 ports right

MSI Pulse GL66 Design & Build Quality

The MSI Pulse GL66 is mainly built out of plastic with the exception of the lid which, if I had to guess, is made out of aluminium. There are visible lines on the lid, trying to reflect the new "Pulse" naming but other than that, it has a fairly muted design. The base has a new honeycomb pattern that also makes room for more air to enter the chassis. Despite the plastic build, the chassis doesn't flex at all when stressed.

MSI Pulse GL66 design

The lid can be opened with a single hand and the hinge feels nice and stable. The bezels are also quite slim around the display, but both the chin and the forehead are relatively more pronounced and packs a couple of mics and an HD webcam. Overall, I really like the simple design of this laptop. Coming in at just 2.25Kg, it's also not the heaviest thing on the market in the name of a gaming laptop, and there is no flashy RGB lighting anywhere on the body. Good stuff, MSI!

MSI Pulse GL66 Battery Life

MSI Pulse GL66 Battery life

The MSI Pulse GL66 packs a surprisingly small 53.5Whr battery inside its chassis that charges via the included 180W AC adapter. On PCMark 10's Modern Office battery test, it only managed to last for 3 hours and 17 minutes. Is that surprising? Well, not really, because it's a tiny battery at the end of the day that has to power hardware like an i7 processor and an RTX 3060 GPU. In terms of real-world usage, the Pulse GL66 managed to last for about 5-6 hours when I lowered the brightness a little bit while doing my day-to-day work.

MSI Pulse GL66 Verdict

Alright, it's the verdict time. So exactly how good is the MSI Pulse GL66? Well, I'd say it's a very capable gaming laptop. I've been waiting for the Intel Core i7 11800H CPU for quite some time now. It's an exciting CPU and the fact that it leaves the Ryzen 9 5900HX behind in terms of the rendering performance is crazy. I didn't have any issues with the gaming performance either.

MSI Pulse GL66 display

Yes, the laptop runs a little hot but those super noisy fans will come rushing to save the day and keep the laptop from throttling all the time. I also like the simple design and the sturdy build quality, but I wish I had some nice things to say about the display beside the refresh rate for gaming.

MSI has launched this laptop at Rs 1,39,990 in India, and at that price, I think it's a very capable machine that can be used reliably for both gaming and creative workloads. That being said, I'd also suggest you check the ASUS Zephyrus G15 gaming laptop which costs slightly less than this to trade the Intel processor with a Ryzen one and an RTX 3070/ 3060 with higher TGP.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 5 In Deep Water - Everything you need to know about the event

A brand new season of Call of Duty: Mobile is here. The new Season 5 update is called ‘In Deep Water’ and as the name suggests, it features a maritime theme. As always, the new update brings with it a whole host of new additions to the game. These new additions will be available to players over the course of the season. Here’s all you need to know about the update.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 5 In Deep Water update: New maps

This time around, Call of Duty: Mobile gets three new maps. This includes a map for the standard 5v5 multiplayer, a map for the Gunfight Mode and another map for a brand new mode called Ground Missions.

The Sudal Harbour is a new medium-sized map that is (as the name suggests) based in a harbour. The map features a few buildings as well as a number of containers. The map is available for Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search and Destroy, and more.

The Docks map is quite small and is designed for the Gunfight mode. As such, the small layout would make it ideal for smaller confrontations offered by the mode. The map will be available from July 9 onwards.

The third map is called Aniyah Incursion and this is a large map designed around the new Ground Missions mode. This mode will see large scale 10v10 combat, so the large size of the map makes a lot of sense. The new map features a palace at the centre, but due to the nature of the mode, most of the battles will take place in the urban sprawl outside the palace.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 5 In Deep Water update: New game modes

The Season 5 update also sees the addition of two new game modes. The first is the aforementioned Ground Missions mode which is more like a souped-up version of Domination with five capture points and 10v10 gameplay. The second mode is called Cranked: Confirmed and will be a mix of Cranked and Kill Confirmed. Like Cranked, players will enter a state of a temporary boost once they get a kill. Once the timer runs out, the player will die. However, getting more kills or collecting dog tags reset that timer.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 5 In Deep Water update: New weapons

The Season 5 In Deep Water update to Call of Duty: Mobile adds a new assault rifle to the game. Called the CR-56 Amax, the new weapon is designed for mid-range combat and offers easily controlled recoil. This makes it a good all-round weapon option for new players. This assault rifle can be unlocked by reaching Tier 21 in Season 5’s free Battle Pass.

The second weapon is a shotgun that can be carried as a secondary weapon. Called the Shorty, it is a two-shot sawed-off shotgun that can do a lot of damage in close range. However, the damage across distances drops off quite quickly.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 5 In Deep Water update: New operator skill and battle royale class

Players will also be able to earn the new K9 Unit Operator Skill for use in Multiplayer. The new skill lets loose an attack dog that will hunt down enemies. However, it should be noted that while the animal can easily take down enemies, it isn’t invulnerable and can be taken down by enemies. The K9 Unit Operator Skill can be unlocked upon reaching Tier 14 of the free Battle Pass.

The new Battle Royale class is called Rewind and gives players the ability to jump back in time. This means that the player’s position will return to where they were five seconds ago. This can confuse enemies and can be used to escape an ambush. As a passive benefit, the effects of flashbang and concussion grenades are also reduced. The new class can be unlocked late in July by completing the Temporal Anomaly featured event.

Nothing Ear 1 wireless earphones to launch on July 27 in India

Nothing Ear (1) TWS earphones are all set to launch on July 27 in India. The first product from Carl Pei’s Nothing now has a release date and we already know that it will go on sale on Flipkart. Early last week, Nothing revealed that it has partnered with Flipkart to launch the Ear 1 wireless earphones at the same time as the global launch.

Nothing Ear 1 TWS earphones are confirmed to launch on July 27 at 6:30 PM IST in India. It is the first smart device in the company’s ecosystem as it looks to go beyond audio products in the near future. As of writing this, the company has not revealed much about the Ear 1 TWS earphones and is keeping things under wraps for now.

Firsts are always special. Our first product. Our first launch event. The first real chance for us to show the world what Nothing is about. #SoundOfChange arrives on 27 July. https://t.co/0vD6qpGqR9 #ear1 pic.twitter.com/LjSqlzNMTA

— Nothing (@nothing) June 29, 2021

Nothing has also previously announced that it is partnering with Swedish company Teenage Engineering which is a design collective known for its modest designed products such as the iconic OP-1 synthesizer, award-winning Polaroid camera Impossible I-1 and more. So we can expect the Ear (1) TWS earphones to have a very minimal design language when it launches next month. In fact, an early render of the Concept 1 TWS earbuds shows it in a transparent design but it is not clear if the Ear (1) TWS will also have a similar design.

Carl Pei announced his new venture called Nothing earlier this year as a “new forward-thinking consumer technology company” after he departed from OnePlus last year in October. Since then, Nothing has managed to secure investments to the tune of $22 million from major investors including GV (Alphabet’s venture capital arm), Steve Huffman (Reddit), Kevin Lin (Twitch), Tony Fadell (inventor of iPod), Youtuber Casey Neistat and Kunal Shah (CRED). Nothing has also acquired Andy Rubin’s now-defunct smartphone brand, Essential.

“It’s been a while since anything interesting happened in tech. It is time for a fresh breeze of change,” said Carl Pei, CEO and founder of Nothing. “Nothing’s mission is to remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future. We believe that the best technology is beautiful, yet natural and intuitive to use. When sufficiently advanced, it should fade into the background and feel like nothing.”

We will know more about the Nothing Ear (1) TWS earphones as we near the launch which is scheduled for July 27 at 6:30 PM IST.

Netflix now allows users to watch partially downloaded content on the platform

For all Netflix subscribers out here in India, there’s a bit of good news for you guys. Netflix has just announced that it has launched a new feature that will allow users to watch or stream shows and movies without an internet connection or even a poor internet connection. The feature is out for Android devices while iOS compatibility is coming soon. Users will now be able to watch or stream content from Netflix even if the connection is poor or nonexistent.

Netflix also stated that, "We always want to make it easier for members to access their favourite series or movies regardless of language, device, connectivity, or location. So partial downloading is now available on Android phones and tablets, and we’ll begin testing on iOS in the coming months.” in an official blog post. So, basically how this works is that the feature will automatically download some Netflix content wherever there is a decent connection around. It then stores the content for later viewing. Users can also cancel viewing the show or movie if it doesn’t appeal to their tastes.

In fact, just a few months ago, Netflix announced the ‘Play Something’ feature for TVs and living room devices, globally. This basically acts as a shuffle button, allowing users to parse through content in quick succession. This, along with the new features could give Netflix an upper hand in the streaming wars.

Samsung unveils Wear OS-based One UI Watch, to debut on next Galaxy Watch

Samsung One UI Watch has officially been announced as the new smartwatch OS based on the Google Wear OS platform. During the ongoing MWC 2021, Samsung also revealed that the One UI Watch will debut on the new Galaxy Watch that will launch in the coming months.

Samsung has been working with Google to develop a more integrated OS for its smart wearables and has detailed some features of the One UI Watch that work in tandem with Android. With the new One UI Watch, you can expect a longer battery life, improved performance and access to tons of apps.

Samsung is letting go of its dependency on Tizen OS as the One UI Watch is more deeply integrated with the Android ecosystem. For instance, if you have installed a watch-compatible app on your smartphone, their companion apps will be automatically downloaded on the watch. Similarly, if your phone has two or more time zones set up, it will automatically get applied to the watch as well.

Being based on WearOS allows the One UI Watch to get access to a plethora of apps on the Play Store. Some third-party fitness, music and navigation apps such as Adidas Running, Golfbuddy Smart Caddie, Strava, Swim, Calm, Spotify, YouTube Music, Google Maps and more are now compatible with the One UI Watch.

Additionally, Samsung will release a new watch face design tool for designers to create new watch faces for the upcoming Galaxy Watch. “Later this year, Android developers will be able to unleash their creativity and release fun, new designs that will be added to Samsung’s ever-growing collection of watch faces to give consumers even more options for customizing their smartwatches to suit their mood, activity and personality,” Samsung said in a press release.

Samsung has not revealed the name of its next Galaxy Watch and has only confirmed that it will launch at an Unpacked event later this summer. As per the rumours going around the internet, Samsung could launch the Galaxy Watch 4 as its first smartwatch to be powered by the One UI Watch sometime in August.

Yamaha is looking to launch an electric scooter in India soon, waiting on government policy

As the world moves towards more sustainable fuel sources, EVs (Electric Vehicles) are looking to become the defacto automobiles in the future. To that end, countries like India and China, with large populations are also looking at expanding the EV market in their respective countries. Just a few weeks ago, Yamaha revealed its new electric scooter in Japan and revealed that it plans to launch an electric scooter in India soon. As of now, there aren’t too many large players in the scene so it’s ripe for a company that knows what it is doing to really make a dent.

Yamaha Janus electric scooter

As of right now, there are only two other companies looking at electric scooters in India. Namely, TVS and Bajaj. And, because the technology is rather new, it looks like the time is right for an EV revolution of sorts. As a country that depends on two-wheelers, an electric scooter like the Yamaha Fascino 125 FI Hybrid could be what tips the scales towards a more sustainable transportation system.

In an interview with Autocar India, Ravinder Singh, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd Senior Vice President stated that the company is already in the process of developing an electric vehicle that is region-specific to India. This all really hinges on the country’s EV policy which has not been revealed as yet but is expected to fast track the production of EVs in India. With Yamaha taking a foot forward in the EV market in India, it looks like HEro and Suzuki also have plans to release their EVs in the country. If everything goes according to plan for these companies, we could be seeing a lot of electric scooters and vehicles in India soon.

boAt Rockerz 330 Review: Good choice for bass lovers

The boAt Rockerz are, no doubt, a good option when it comes to entry-level wireless earphones. Priced aggressively at Rs 1,299, they’ve got a plethora of appealing features such as 30 hours of battery life, USB-C charging, voice assistant support, multi-point connection, and others. Moreover, the earphones have a robust build and excellent fit for most ears. However, the sound quality will definitely be most palatable for bass-lovers or bass-enthusiasts.

While truly wireless IEMs are all the craze right now, wireless neckband style IEMs are still popular with brands continually providing new offerings for those who prefer this form factor. Homegrown audio company boAt recently expanded its popular ‘Rockerz’ lineup of wireless earphones and launched the boAt Rockerz 330 in India, priced competitively at Rs 1,299. The earphones have a few appealing features such as water resistance, long battery life, and magnetic earbud housings up its sleeve but it faces stiff competition from brands such as Redmi, Realme, and Noise. Let’s see how these entry-level wireless earphones fared during our testing process.

Build and comfort

boAt Rockerz 330 review

The boAt Rockerz 330 is definitely a looker, especially when it comes to what we usually expect in this price segment. It has a simple yet elegant design with a well-built rubber neckband and metallic modules on each side. The one on the right side houses the multi-function button, volume buttons, and the USB-C charging port, while the other one simply has the boAt logo and balances out the weight. The buttons have good tactility and response. There’s also a mini-LED light that indicates when the device is in use as well as low battery.

boAt Rockerz 330

The metallic modules have a sleek, glossy finish and the rubber neckband is soft to the touch and feels comfortable around the neck. The earbuds come with metallic housings as well and attach to each other magnetically when lying idle on the chest. You also have silicone wings or fins that enhance the fit, making it snug and comfortable. The company also provides an assortment of ear tips, so users can choose what works best for them. This coupled with the silicone wings makes for an exceptional fit that greatly enhances passive isolation, drowning out some environmental sounds considerably.

boAt Rockerz 330

The earphones are available in various colour options including Active Black, Ocean Blue, Navy Blue, Teal Green, Blazing Yellow and Raging Red. So, this will definitely appeal to the youth since it allows them to pick the colour best suited to their aesthetic or style. Overall, the boAt Rockerz 330 comes with a sturdy yet lightweight build and solid fit, which should satisfy most users.

Features

While the boAt Rockerz 330 doesn’t come with any striking features such as Active Noise Cancellation which isn’t expected at this price, it does have a fair number of features that make it a lucrative option. The earphones come equipped with Bluetooth v5.0 for connectivity and have a wireless range of about 33 feet (unobstructed). The earphones were able to maintain the connection in a small 1BHK apartment from one end to the other, which is pretty decent. They also come with SBC and AAC codec support. It’s good to see AAC support at this price point.

boAt Rockerz 330

The earphones also come with Voice Assistant support, which can be evoked by using the multi-function button. The Rockerz 330’s onboard controls can not only be used to adjust volume, play/pause music, and power on/off the buds, but also to summon your source device’s voice assistant, answer/reject/end calls, and seek tracks. The controls worked brilliantly throughout our testing period.

The earphones also come with IPX5 water resistance which means they can shrug off sweat and light splashes, so they can be used in light rainfall or when gymming. Surprisingly, these earphones also come with Dual Pairing, more commonly known as Multi-point connection, where the earphones can be connected to two devices simultaneously. It is great to see this feature on an inexpensive pair of wireless earphones like the boAt Rockerz 330 since multi-point connectivity is often missing on much costlier audio products.

Performance

Sporting 10mm dynamic drivers, the boAt Rockerz 330 have a heavily bass-focused sound profile. This sound profile should be familiar to anyone who has used a boAt product in the past since the company largely makes audio devices with this sound profile since it caters to the masses. The bass response is extremely punchy and front-and-centre irrespective of the genre of music you are listening to. At times, the bass response also comes across as very dark, where the bass response is extremely overexaggerated and the mids and highs are veiled.

For example, in the track Pull Me Under by Dream Theatre, at the 1:20 mark, the bassy drums sound extremely murky and cloud the detail in the other instruments. This makes the track sound flat and one-dimensional. In vocal-centric tracks such as Hello by Adele, the earphones do a better job when the focus is mostly on the vocals, but when the instruments enter the track, the vocals do get slightly clouded.

boAt Rockerz 330

Uncompensated frequency response of boAt Rockerz 330 (Pink) vs reference IEM (orange)

The earphones also produce very underexaggerated highs where the detail in high-pitched instruments and vocals is shrouded and these portions are usually relegated to the background of the track while the lows are definitely on the forefront. In all honesty, these earphones will only appeal to those who are fans of extremely thumpy bass response and primarily listen to genres such as pop, EDM, hip-hop and Bollywood party/dance numbers. The earphones also get extremely loud and we usually listened to them at the 40-50 per cent volume mark since the sound distorts a lot past the 60 per cent mark.

Moving on to the microphone, the boAt Rockerz 330 has an inbuilt microphone that performs decently in most cases. When used to make calls indoors, it works pretty well, however, when you’re outdoors, the microphone sometimes struggles to relay the voice of the caller clearly. Also, a large portion of the ambient sound is also caught by the microphone and relayed back to the listener on the other end. However, if you’re usually indoors when making calls, the mic on these earphones is perfectly serviceable.

Battery life

The battery life is possibly the strongest suit of the boAt Rockerz 330 wireless earphones. The device promises up to 30 hours of battery life. In our tests, the earphones lasted for about a week with about 3-4 hours of usage per day, so the claim seems to be about right. It is definitely a strong performer when it comes to battery life in this price segment, and most users should be able to charge it once and then forget about doing the same for a week or so, which is pretty convenient.

boAt Rockerz 330

When you do need to charge the earphones when they eventually run out of juice, the earphones support quick charging where 10 minutes of charge gives you a whopping 10 hours of playtime. The earphones can be charged fully in about 40 minutes.

Verdict

The boAt Rockerz are, no doubt, a good option when it comes to entry-level wireless earphones. Priced aggressively at Rs 1,299, they’ve got a plethora of appealing features such as 30 hours of battery life, USB-C charging, voice assistant support, multi-point connection, and others. Moreover, the earphones have a robust build and excellent fit for most ears. However, the sound quality will definitely be most palatable for bass-lovers or bass-enthusiasts. The bass response is extremely aggressive and it clouds the fine details in vocals and instruments irrespective of genre or the track you’re listening to. So, if you’re a fan of bass-focused sound, the boAt Rockerz 330 is one of the most value for money pair of wireless earphones under 1.5K.

OnePlus Nord 2 design inspired by OnePlus 9 series revealed in new leak

OnePlus Nord 2 design has allegedly been leaked and looks a lot inspired from the flagship OnePlus 9 series. The OnePlus Nord 2 is rumoured to launch in July in India and could be the first-ever OnePlus phone to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity processor. After the success of the original OnePlus Nord that launched in 2020, the company recently launched the Nord CE (Core Edition) in India as a slightly toned-down and affordable phone in the Nord lineup.

The folks over at 91Mobiles managed to get exclusive renders from popular tipster OnLeaks that show the design of the much-rumoured OnePlus Nord 2. The pictures shared by the leakster suggest that the Nord 2 is inspired by the OnePlus 9 lineup with a vertical camera module that houses three cameras and a LED flash unit.

And here comes your very first look at the #OnePlusNord2! (stunning 5K renders and 360° video) On behalf of my Friends over @91mobiles -> https://t.co/E7QFLTs8f9 pic.twitter.com/BdxNecaYlh

— Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks) June 28, 2021

We can also see the top-left punch-hole cutout for the single selfie camera, the alert slider and a speaker grille at the bottom. The original OnePlus Nord had dual selfie cameras on the front while the recently launched OnePlus Nord CE 5G did not have the signature alert slider. The Nord 2 could have a thickness of 8.1 millimetres and is expected to be offered in multiple colour options.

OnePlus Nord 2 rumoured specifications

The OnePlus Nord 2 is expected to feature a 6.43-inch Full HD+ display that uses an AMOLED panel with support for upto a 90Hz refresh rate along with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Previous rumours indicate that the Nord 2 could be the first OnePlus phone to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor and will likely be offered with upto 12GB RAM and 256GB storage options to choose from.

Furthermore, the Nord 2 has triple cameras on the back as seen from the leaked renders. There could be a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro camera. The primary 50MP cameras could be the same as the OnePlus 9 Pro that uses Sony IMX766 sensor. The front-facing camera is expected to be a 32MP unit.

The OnePlus Nord 2 could be equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that will likely support fast charging.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus with faster clock speeds and improved performance officially launched

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus has officially launched as a slight upgrade to the Snapdragon 888 processor that we saw on nearly every major flagship phone in the past six months. The Snapdragon 888 was launched back in December 2020 and has been powering flagship experiences on phones such as the Asus ROG Phone 5, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11X Pro, OnePlus 9 Pro, Vivo X60 Pro+ and more. The Snapdragon 888 Plus will be seen on phones in the second half of 2021 from companies like Xiaomi, Asus, Motorola and more.

“Snapdragon is synonymous with premium Android experiences. Our latest flagship Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G Mobile Platform will help deliver the premium entertainment, connectivity, and gaming experiences users deserve. We’re excited to see OEMs launch with products based on our highest performing platform,” said Christopher Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Handset Business, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus: What’s new?

Qualcomm has also upgraded the sixth-generation AI engine with over 20 per cent performance gains.

The major change from Snapdragon 888 to Snapdragon 888 Plus is that the latter has been designed with a slightly higher clock speed of the Prime core. The prime core on the Snapdragon 888 Plus is clocked at 2.995GHz up from 2.84GHz prime clock speed on the Snapdragon 888. The Kryo 680 CPU on the 888 Plus is capable of going up to 3.0GHz giving it a boost in raw performance.

Qualcomm has also upgraded the sixth-generation AI engine with over 20 per cent performance gains. Previously on the Snapdragon 888, the AI engine was able to drive the Hexagon 780 processor at 26 TOPS (tera operations per second) and the Snapdragon 888 Plus upgrades it to 32 TOPS which means significant improvements in AI-based experiences.

Apart from these upgrades, the rest of the features of the Snapdragon 888 Plus remains the same as the Snapdragon 888. This includes the Adreno 660 GPU, third-generation Snapdragon X60 5G modem, Spectra 580 ISP and Snapdragon Elite gaming features and more.

Smartphone makers including Asus, Honor, Motorola, Vivo and Xiaomi have confirmed that they will launch Snapdragon 888 Plus powered phones in the third quarter of 2021.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo states that the new iPhone 13 Pro could feature an ultra-wide lens with autofocus

It looks like Apple is readying itself for the inevitable launch of the iPhone 13 in the second half of 2021. Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that the iPhone 13 Pro could come with an ultra-wide lens with autofocus. In a report on 9to5Mac, Kuo has stated that the iPhone 13 Po will come with an ultra-wide lens with autofocus. On the current iPhones, the ultra-wide lens is currently fixed-focus. This means that the older lenses cannot focus on very specific objects. With the addition of autofocus on the ultra-wide leans on the iPhone 13 Pro, this means that users will be able to focus on whatever object they wish to photograph. It will function like the normal wide-angle and telephoto lenses.

Apple iPhone 12

Back in May, we also reported that Kuo has all but confirmed that Apple could be launching its foldable phone sometime in 2022. Kuo stated that, “Based on our latest industry survey, we forecast that Apple will likely launch a foldable ‌iPhone‌ with an 8-inch QHD+ flexible OLED display in 2023, with SDC as the exclusive display supplier and Samsung Foundry as the exclusive DDI foundry provider. Based on Apple's requested capacity plan, we predict that the foldable ‌iPhone‌ shipments will reach 15-20 million units in 2023. We expect that the foldable ‌iPhone‌ will adopt TPK's silver nanowire touch solution because of its several advantages over SDC's Y-Octa technology”. He also states that folding phones could be the bridge between tablets and smartphones. For now, we should have the iPhone 13 Pro with its autofocus ultra-wide lens to look forward to.

There have been no major leaks as such, but there have been reports that state that the iPhone 13 will retain a similar look to its predecessor. Although experts have said that the new iPhones will come with a new processor, smaller notch, camera improvements, 5G support as well as a 120Hz screen on the higher-end Pro variants. Kuo says that the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the top of the line in the upcoming iPhone 13 series will have a slightly better main camera than the other phones in the lineup. We should be expecting the new Apple iPhones to be announced sometime in September or October.

From Softwares Elden Ring gameplay details finally revealed at E3

Elden Ring from developer From Software was finally unveiled with the first official gameplay trailer, and it’s set to launch on January 21st 2022.

From Software’s largest game yet

From Software made some of the most critically acclaimed titles in gaming like Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro, but Elden Ring appears to be the biggest and best yet as it is possibly the largest game to date developed by From Software.

That is not only obvious by the huge scale of Elden Ring’s world looking at the gameplay trailer which was released during E3, but players will have to travel on horseback in order to travel across the land in Elden Ring. And just like other From Software’s games in the soulsborne series, Elden Ring’s world will be interconnected and seamless.

Gameplay details :

FromSoft’s soulslike games have always been semi-open worlds, and quite linear in terms of narrative. Only by the final boss of the game will the player actually have a decision to change the outcome of the story. But Elden Ring sounds like it will have more choices for the players to make that will actually affect their gameplay. According to the developers, players during their adventures will get to choose the fate of the cursed land by deciphering its myths and secrets. Elden Ring also seems to actually have a day and night cycle, along with dynamic weather events.

Elden Ring launches for all platforms including PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on January 21st 2022.

Razer is back with the most powerful 14-inch gaming laptop and a new monitor at E3

Razer is back at it again being the first to announce a 14-inch laptop with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX also equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 inside. This is Razer's first AMD CPU in the Blade line. They have also launched a new 27-inch monitor named Razer Raptor 27.

Alongside the laptop, they launched a new wall charger, based on Gallium Nitride rather than silicon and it's called the USB-C 130W GaN Charger.

Specifications:

There will be three models of the Blade 14 during launch and all use the same Ryzen 9 5900HX, with the same 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM and 720p webcam. They will all have Razer's THX Spatial Audio along with other standard ports.

The entry-level $1,800 model embodies a 144Hz 1080p screen and an RTX 3060 GPU and for $2,200 you will get to upgrade to an RTX 3070 with a 165Hz 1440p display, and taking a step further for $2,800 gives you an RTX 3080. The SSD is also upgradable but the RAM is sadly soldered to the motherboard. All screens support FreeSync Premium adaptive refresh through G-Sync compatibility mode.

Razer promises a battery life of up to 12 hours, though it's likely to be in the average of about 10 hours.  Expectedly, the RTX 3080 isn't being pushed to the max in this laptop. The GPU power draw can range anywhere from 80 to 150 watts, and Razer takes the spot at 100 watts.

Power up:

Razer

Razer is gradually switching over to support USB-C power delivery for its laptops, so it makes sense that it would want to have their own charger as well. And now we got the USB-C 130W GaN Charger.

GaN is an up-and-coming technology that can handle higher voltages higher than silicon, but also runs cooler and can support higher energy density for smaller, lighter bricks. Razer's charger weighs about 349g with dual USB-C connectors that support up to 100W each, which is enough to charge almost any laptop and dual USB-A connections for up to 18W each. It plugs directly into an outlet or just uses the included 6.6ft (2m) cable. It comes bundled with overseas adapters.

Razer’s new monitor:

Razer Raptor 27

Razer's Raptor 27 which is a 27-inch monitor doesn't get an overall  makeover, but the 1440p panel does get upgraded to a better 165Hz model (from 144Hz), with a maximum brightness of 400 nits along with HDR support. It's also said to be the "world's first THX-certified gaming monitor," which means there are gonna be some THX controls and cinema mode presets. Unfortunately, the monitor hasn't been upgraded to support HDMI 2.1.

There is a choice now to mount it with the new optional VESA mount (100x100), which slides into the slots on the back used for tilting on the standard mount.

The monitor is available in pre-order now for $799 and the VESA mount is another $100.

Everything from Nintendo Direct E3 2021

As the Nintendo Direct kicked off at E3 2021, there were tons of announcements (although none about Nintendo Switch Pro), which included a slew of new games for its ever-so-popular Nintendo Switch console. Further down, you can explore almost everything announced at the ~40mins long Nintendo E3 2021 Direct event.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

While being one of the most anticipated titles, Zelda fans were likely kinda both excited and disappointed by the Nintendo E3 2021 event.  Fans were expecting a nearabout release window of 2021, but it was announced to be released somewhere in 2022. From the first gameplay footage of the anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it looks like Link will be heading up into the clouds for this game, which reminds us of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The brief trailer teases a few new and upgraded abilities, including Link freezing a giant spiked cement ball to roll it back at the enemies, phasing through solid rock to rise up through the bottom of a floating island and ends with the scenes of a castle being violently ripped from the ground and suspended mid-air in a field of wispy red miasma.

Nintendo Direct

Metroid Prime 4 / Metroid Dread

Nintendo E3 2021 also showcased Metroid: Dread, the first 2D platformer game in the Metroid series in freakin’ 19 years, which will feature Samus battling it out in Metroidvania style, just like in the days of Super Metroid. Samus will star in Metroid Dread as she explores a strange new planet while being pursued by something known as E.M.M.I. Similar to the SA-X in Metroid Fusion, this is likely to be a repeating theme throughout the game too. It has also since been confirmed to be a continuation of Metroid Fusion, making it the most recent entry in the Metroid timeline. Although Shinya Takahashi (Nintendo representative), assured players prior to the announcement that Metroid Prime 4 was still in active development, Metroid: Dread will likely launch on October 8, 2021, probably along with a game-related Amiibo for sale too.

Nintendo Direct

Mario Party Superstars

The new Mario Party title from Nintendo is a kind of mix between a remaster and a new game which will also incorporate boards and minigames from past entries in the series, promising over 100 minigames from across the series. It will include some classic boards from the Nintendo 64 era of the series, but with better graphics. Interestingly, online play will be included in the Mario Party game too, which will enable players to play online with their friends or with random players from all over the world. Mario Party Superstars is slated to launch on October 29, 2021.

Nintendo Direct

WarioWare: Get It Together

Nintendo showed off their new WarioWare series game called WarioWare: Get It Together, which brings the popular microgame collection to Switch, where you'll play as Wario and his friends in brief, five-second spurts to execute simple tasks like disconnecting a drain, spinning a windmill, tweezing body hair, and evading pigeon poop. (ok this is turning more gross...). As with typical WarioWare titles, this isn’t so much of a single game but a huge collection of insane minigames. There’s also an exclusive two-player co-op, where you and a friend can join in on bizarre minigames and aid each other in clearing a level. WarioWare: Get It Together lands on September 10, with pre-orders available.

Nintendo Direct

Shin Megami Tensei V

When it comes to RPGs Nintendo Switch is always all in for more. Shin Megami Tensei V, a JPRG, which was revealed in a Nintendo Direct last year, has now finally been covered more, and will mark the first entry in the series since the 2013 3DS title. The Nintendo Direct revealed a trailer that flaunted the game’s world, gameplay, and various offered features. As with other games in the series, you’ll use turn-based combat to fight enemies and level up your character, with one of the cool features being recruiting and even fusing demons together. It is set to release on November 12 as a Switch exclusive, with pre-orders open from June 21.

Nintendo Direct

Life is Strange: True Colors and Life is Strange: Remastered Collection

Two titles were revealed to be coming later this year: Life is Strange: True Colors and Life is Strange: Remastered Collection. The former will be arriving on September 10th, while the latter has an unconfirmed “Q4 2021” release window. This will also be the franchise’s first time appearing on the Switch console, so players will have every opportunity to catch up with the emotionally compelling series with both a new standalone release and a collection of previous games as well.

Nintendo Direct

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp

Advance wars might be the most unexpected announcement from Nintendo Direct in my opinion. Also, this would mark the first time that the Advance Wars franchise would launch as a new title, since 2008. It has even been announced that the title will be developed by WayForward ( the company that’s known for surprise remasters), and was revealed that the original two titles in the Advance Wars series would be remastered and re-released, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch console. The package deal will be titled Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, set to release on 3rd of December.

Nintendo Direct

Other announcements

And whoa, you think that’s all? There were a whole lotta other announcements and showcases done in the Nintendo Direct apart from the ones we covered above. Some of the exciting ones are:

Nintendo Direct

Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1 DLC hits the Switch. Nintendo confirmed that free DLC will make its way to Mario Golf Super Rush, including new characters and courses. Kazuya Mishima from the Tekken series will be featured as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Speaking of Mario, the beloved Nintendo character will join up again with the Rabbids in Mario & Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, out in 2022. Square Enix's planet-hopping Guardians of the Galaxy will come to the Switch on October 26. The publisher showed off an extended gameplay demo earlier in the week. Worms Rumble will land on the Switch next week. Astria Ascending received a new trailer as well as a launch date of September 30, 2021. The previously announced game Two Point Campus will land on the Switch in 2022. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, a remastered version of the first three games in the GameCube-era monkey-rolling series, will hit the Switch on October 5, alongside versions for Xbox One, Series X/S, and PS4/5. Cruis’n Blast will land as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in Fall 2021, with more details coming soon. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot lets you explore a vast world and battle through four separate sagas from the anime. It hits the Switch on September 24 with a new "Power Awakens" set Capcom already let us know at its own E3 event, but Nintendo reminded us that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin lands on the Switch on July 9. Danganronpa Decadence brings the first three games from the cult-classic schoolhouse murder investigation series to the Switch, complete with an expanded spin-off digital board game. The Wii U title Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water gets a port to the Switch later this year with better graphics and some new content. The old Advance Wars games are being rebuilt from the ground up with Advance Wars 1 & 2: Re-Boot Camp, out on the Switch December 3. The two games in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 Remastered are coming to the Switch on June 25. Strange Brigade lands on the Switch very soon…as in today. Just Dance 2022 will continue to deliver what the title promises yet again on the Switch on November 4.
