The new Halo TV show manages to look incredibly cheap and expensive at the same time, will release on March 24

A Halo live-action movie has been in the works since 2007 and after years of languishing in production hell, we’ve finally got a trailer. The new show is being developed at Paramount Plus, home of the excellent Yellowstone. We actually got a bit of sneak-peek at the show back during the Game Awards but we’ve now got a full-fledged trailer that shows off some of the story and what fans can expect. The Halo TV show stars Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and we’ve got a bunch of riff-raff that no one cares about. The show will hit the streaming service on March 24, 2022.

Halo TV show new trailer

The new Halo trailer just hit the internet

Judging from the trailer, it seems that the showrunners have not followed the game canon and will be telling a story that is separate from the main Halo games. While that sounds well and good, we are more concerned about the show pushing The Message, like every other modern TV show. Also, the sets and some of the effects look incredibly cheap, like it was filmed at a CW set but some of it looks excellent. For what it’s worth, this reminds us of The Witcher on Netflix, which is a travesty of epic proportions. You can check out the trailer below to confirm our suspicions.

We also get a good look at Cortana and the Arbiter. While the Arbiter does look accurate to the game, Cortana is anything but. To be fair, 343 Studios kind of destroyed the franchise so it’s fitting that the show will be using more designs from their games. Oh well, you can check out the trailer below and judge it for yourselves. As far as we are concerned, this looks to be dead on arrival.

Apple iMac Pro could make a comeback alongside iPhone SE 5G, and Mac Mini during 2022 Spring Event

According to the latest Mark Gurman’s newsletter, Apple is likely to re-release the iMac Pro during its upcoming Spring 2022 event. Introduced in 2017 as a workstation-grade computer, Apple discontinued the iMac Pro last year. Also, as everyone knows, Cupertino is slowly but steadily shifting its entire range of devices on powerful homemade Apple silicon, it's probably the best time for the discontinued iMac Pro to make a triumphant return. The newsletter alleges that the Apple iMac Pro will likely have a bigger screen size than 24-inch. It may also feature a mini-LED ProMotion 120Hz display.

Apart from that, Apple currently sells two iMac products - a 24-inch M1 powered version and a bigger 27-inch model still using an Intel 10th Gen processor lineup. Another recent report also alleged that the 27-inch iMac is also likely to get the M1 silicon treatment. If the rumours from Ross Young, a display industry consultant are true. The newer Apple 27-inch iMac could feature a mini-LED ProMotion display with 120Hz high refresh rate support.

Apple could launch the iMac Pro and the 27-inch iMac separately, equipping each of them with some combination of M1 Pro and M1 Pro Mac chip or Cupertino can release a single iMac and discontinue the 27-inch iMac altogether. Personally, I think the former event has a higher possibility.

Apple 27-inch iMac Pro And Other Probable Spring 2022 Event Announcements

If speculations are anything to go by then the upcoming Apple 2022 Sprint event will feature a lot of new products. In addition to the above-mentioned iMac products, Apple will more than likely also launch the iPhone SE 5G, which is the current-gen iPhone SE but 5G enabled, more powerful and equipped with better photography capabilities.

Similarly, Apple could also introduce a “Mac Mini Pro” introducing its latest M1 Pro and M1 Pro Max chips to the ultra-portable desktop computer. Last year also Apple introduced a bunch of new items like the AirTags, Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen), new iPhone 12 colour options and the iPad Pro during its Spring 2021 event held in April. With the pandemic in full force, expect the Apple Spring Event 2022 timeline to be similar.

The OnePlus Nord 2T has a triple camera array on the back headlined by a 50MP camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP monochrome sensor. On the front, we get a 32MP selfie camera.

Redmi Smart TV X43 launching in India on February 9

Redmi is all set to add a new TV to its X series portfolio, the Redmi Smart TV X43. Currently, the Redmi smart TV is available in 50, 55 and 65-inch screen sizes. The TV will launch on February 9 in India and there is no information about the price or availability of the TV.

Redmi Smart TV X43 features and specifications

As per the teaser page on Xiaomi's website, the Redmi smart TV X43 will support a 4K resolution along with support for HDR 10 and Dolby Vision, similar to its larger siblings. The TV will come with support for Dolby Audio with 30W of sound output. The TV will run on the Android TV OS with Xiaomi’s own PatchWall UI overlaying it.

We don't know the other specifications of the TV but we can expect it to support features found on its larger siblings like e-ARC and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). For connectivity, we can expect to see the TV support three HDMI ports and two USB ports.

Sorry, didn't hear you over the sound of all that e(X)tra (L)arge entertainment!  On 09.02.2022, witness the return of the #XLExperience: Bigger  Better  Larger than life  For more on the new #RedmiSmartTVX43 :https://t.co/UUM4O6t3h2 pic.twitter.com/vWZcXrL2IS

— Redmi India - Redmi Note 11S (@RedmiIndia) January 28, 2022

Currently, Redmi has the Redmi Smart TV 43 available in the 43-inch screen space and that comes with an FHD display. In our review of the Redmi Smart TV 43, we said, “The Redmi 43-inch FHD Smart TV is a good TV overall. Not supporting 4K and HDR is not a con in this case as its picture performance is very good in SDR and better than some 4K HDR TVs we’ve tested in this price range. It has good colour reproduction and the panel works well for movies, TV shows and games. The audio output is fine for everyday use, especially considering the price of the TV. The only downside to the TV is that the UI can get laggy. The Redmi 43-inch FHD SDR TV is a very good option for those that understand the drawbacks of a budget 4K HDR TV and who want a TV that can reproduce content well. The only downside to the TV is the stutter I faced in the UI and hope this is something Xiaomi can fix via an update”.

On the other hand, we also had a chance to review the 65-inch Redmi Smart TV X65. We believe the features of the Redmi smart TV X43 will mimic its elder siblings so you can expect the performance to be similar. In our review of the Redmi Smart TV X65 we said, “Xiaomi has an interesting offering with the Redmi TV X65 for Rs 57,999. What it brings with it is support for eARC for home theatres, ALLM for gaming and support for a variety of HDR formats. While the overall picture quality is good for the price, HDR 10+ content still has some issues. SDR content playback is good. The HDMI 2.1 setting is switched off by default and getting to it involves jumping through some hoops when connecting the PS5”.

Gaming Chromebooks could launch soon to offer an alternative to Windows and Linux Gaming

According to a recent report, changes in the Chrome OS suggests that Gaming Chromebooks are coming soon. For the uninitiated, Chrome OS is a free and open-source operating system from Google. Most people primarily use it for basic tasks like document editing, surfing the web etc. However, Chrome OS is more than likely to get native Steam support in the near future. Not only that but you can also expect Gaming Chromebooks with dedicated GPUs to launch as well.

Google Chromebooks Steam OS Support Nvidia GPU

Gaming Chromebooks To Feature Dedicated Graphics And RGB Keyboards

According to some recent changes in the Chrome OS code, it will soon have full support for RGB keyboards allowing for in-depth key customisation. A Chrome OS code suggests “*” as an upcoming brand of detachable keyboards for Chromebooks. The Chrome OS code also suggests two upcoming gaming Chromebooks namely - Vell and Taniks.

Quanta computers based in Taiwan is most likely the candidate to manufacture Vell. Quanta’s employees recently developed products for HP and therefore an OMEN branded Gaming Chromebook could be on the cards.

Meanwhile, LCFC electronics, the largest R&D and manufacturing base for Lenovo is probably developing the Taniks Gaming Chromebook. A recent report also suggested that Nvidia and Mediatek are working together to bring RTX graphics to Chromebooks.

However, the most important announcement here is the Steam support for Google Chrome OS. At present, PC gaming is mostly limited to Windows OS with Linux gaming gaining popularity on small fringes. However, a natively running Steam app on Chrome OS could open the door for a lot of gamers to have a legitimate option other than WIndows. Considering how much time it took for Linux gaming to gain traction, I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet for gaming on Chrome OS. Furthermore, Google is infamous for abandoning projects, what I mean is “none of your friends play on Stadia,” and they most likely never will. So keeping our hopes in check might be the best thing right now.

Here are the best gaming deals to grab during the Amazon Grand Gaming Days sale

When it comes to deals and sale events, it’s always a tough one to separate the real deals from the ones that aren’t. The Amazon Grand Gaming Days surely do surprise us every time with a few very attractive deals. However, those deals don’t last for long, and hence all you gamers (and deal diggers), you surely don’t want to miss out on them. Here’s a list of the best gaming deals so far. We will keep updating this list and adding deals as and when we find them.

The sale promises great deals on gaming laptops, desktops & monitors, headphones, gaming consoles, graphic cards, and TVs as well.  Some of the brands that are expected to come to the gaming party with offers are - Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, LG, HP, Sony, Dell, Corsair, Cosmic byte, JBL, and more. So, let’s get on with the best deals!

Best Gaming Laptop deal under Rs. 60,000: HP Victus Gaming (AMD Ryzen 5 5600H + Radeon RX 5500M)

HP Victus

This is surely one of the best budget gaming laptop deals out there. You get a six-core AMD Ryzen processor paired with the Radeon RX 5500M, which is most certainly better than the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 GPU that is normally seen at sub 60K price points. What’s more, you get 512GB of SSD as well. Which is a better option than the usual 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD offered at sub 60K price points. We’ve tested this laptop and can assure you of actual gaming performance numbers across popular games. Here are the performance numbers below.

Full specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H 5th, AMD Radeon RX 5500M Graphics (4GB), 16.1-inch@60Hz display, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 Home, weight- 2.48kg.

Table

Best deal on GeForce RTX 3060 laptop: ASUS TUF Dash F15

ASUS TUF Dash F15

For Rs. 84,990, the Asus TUF Dash F15 is probably one of the cheapest laptops with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 under the hood. We must mention though, the TGP on this one is rather modest at 80W with a 5W boost option available when you push it to the limits, which is lower than the max potential that the GPU can achieve if fed with 130W of power. You will see about 15-20% lower performance than a full-blown RTX 3060. However, for the money, the Asus TUF Dash at 85k is a very sweet deal, especially for 1080P gaming at high settings, where you can extract 100+ FPS in most popular games and take advantage of the 144Hz display on this one. You also get 16GB of RAM and 512GB of NVMe PCIe 3.0 based storage with an additional M.2 Slot. The laptop is also fairly light, weighing approximately 2 kilograms, which is quite light and portable for a 15-inch gaming laptop. There’s another catch though, the Intel Core i5-11300H processor on this one kinda borders towards being just about adequate with 4 cores and 8 threads. The good part though is a very healthy base clock speed of 3.1 GHz (and turbo of 4.4 GHz). Full specs: Intel Core i5-11300H 11th Gen,  6GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU, Gaming, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 15.6-inch FHD display with 144Hz refresh rate, Windows 11 OS.

24-inch monitor with 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time under 14K: LG Ultragear 24GL650F

LG Ultragear

Most online stores are selling this popular gaming monitor at Rs. 14,500. So, at Rs. 13999, we surely think you are saving some cash here. Apply other applicable card discounts and you might be able to push the discount closer to 1K. About the monitor, well it sure is a very good buy for an entry-level (or even a budget mid-range) gaming PC. You get a decent screen size with a high refresh rate and a TN panel with a 1ms response time. The LG Ultragear is height adjustable, very much looks the part, and is well built too. The port selection is fairly wide and the placement is quite convenient as well.

Bang for the buck high-performance gaming mouse: Logitech G502 Hero

Logitech G502

For Rs. 3800, the G502 from Logitech offers maximum performance/DPI per rupee (if ever there was such a ratio).  With the Hero 25K (25,000 DPI) sensor under the hood, adjustable weights, 11 programmable buttons, onboard memory, and the customary RGB support. The Logitech G502 leaves very little to complain about. Sure it’s not wireless but do you guys really dig a wireless gaming mouse for a desktop gaming PC? Especially when you need to decide between pure gaming-focused features versus the convenience of going wireless. Is it a tough choice?

The deals and deal prices are as per the date of and time of publishing this story, they might change in terms of availability as well as pricing, depending on demand and stocks at Amazon’s end

Although more than a year old, the iPhone 12 remains an attractive proposition for users willing to be a part of Apple’s ecosystem. The phone has a sturdy build with ceramic shield protective glass on the front and a chassis made from aerospace-grade aluminium.

The biggest draw remains the powerful A14 Bionic chipset and promising camera performance. On the rear, the iPhone 12 consists of a primary 12MP camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front, there’s a 12MP selfie camera that can also record Dolby Vision HDR videos and should be particularly appealing to vloggers. Moreover, it can record 4K UHD videos at 60FPS with cinematic video stabilization while shooting in 4K, 1080p and 720p.

The iPhone 12 features a large 6.1-inch AMOLED display (2532 x1170 pixels) which is also HDR certified.  The handset is IP68 rated which means the phone is water and dust resistant in up to 6 meters deep water for up to 30 minutes. WhatsApp beta version keeps crashing for some users, new fix out with latest 22248 update

It seems that WhatsApp’s new beta is crashing for some users. The new update was launched through the Google Play Beta Program. The latest version of the update is 2.22.4.6 and adds a few bug fixes and a few improvements but a few users are reporting that they are experiencing crashes on the platform. According to a report on WaBetaInfo, version 2.22.4.6 and 2.22.4.7 are experiencing crashes where the app will just stop functioning. This happens when users are trying to open the app or even when sending media, including images and videos.

WhatsApp beta crashing for users

WhatsApp beta update crashing for some users

But fret not, as WhatsApp has just released version 2.22.4.8 which contains a fix for said problem. There was no mention of why the app crashes but there seems to be a fix for that. The report also goes on to give users a step by step set of instructions to try and alleviate the problem. Recommendations include transferring all your chat backups onto Google Drive before installing a version of the beta build. Or, users could also revert back to an older build just in case something goes wrong.

In fact, we earlier reported that WhatsApp was working on a feature that will allow users to transfer voice chat histories from Android to iOS. The feature was first spotted on the WhatsApp 22.2.74 beta version for iOS. It also looks like the feature is still in its early stages as even beta testers do not have access to it. Apple iOS 153 and iPadOS 153 address a number of security vulnerabilities

Apple has patched a number of security flaws including a few that may have been ‘actively exploited’ with the release of iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates for its mobile devices.

The updates will roll out for iPhone 6s and later, all iPad Pro variants, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and the iPod touch (7th gen).

Important Vulnerabilities Fixed

The primary vulnerability is referred to as CVE-2022-22587. This is a memory corruption bug in IOMobileFrameBuffer (or FrameBuffer) which is a kernel extension that allows app developers to control the way their app handles the phone’s display. An app exploiting this vulnerability could execute malicious code with kernel privileges.

Another notable vulnerability was a Webkit bug in Safari, referred to as CVE-2022-22594. This bug could allow any website using a specific JavaScript API to check on another tab that the user might have opened in Safari and thus track sensitive user information. The bug could also be exploited to track a user’s browsing history and Google Account information via Safari or any other third party browser.

iOS 15.3 addresses a total of 10 vulnerabilities and issues related to gaining root privileges, iCloud exploits.

The security updates come a week after Apple released a fix for a bug in iOS and iPadOS that could allow HomeKit to be exploited using Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.

Should you update to iOS 15.3 or iPadOS 15.3?

Needless to say, this is an important update that addresses several privacy and security concerns. As always, the update will be pushed in a phased manner and you can go to Settings >> General >> Software update on your device to check if you have already received it

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review: The Everyday Knight

The ASUS Expertbook B1400 is a thin and light laptop that has high versatility and a lot of features. It is very portable and has a solid build quality that can easily withstand daily wear and tear. The laptop also has a good selection of I/O ports, a decently capable processor, a great keyboard, and a lot more. However, the ASUS Expertbook B1400 does have a few chinks in its armour but they aren’t severe enough to stop it from getting our recommendation.

I am not fond of thin and light laptops. Their restricted footprint leaves little room for performance. However, I am proven wrong more often than not because such laptops continue to surprise me with their capabilities. By design, it is a kind of office laptop, but thanks to the latest revolution in CPU technology, these laptops are capable of a lot more. The ASUS Expertbook B1400 is one such capable laptop I recently tested and here’s my opinion on whether you should buy it or not.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review: Specs

Processor: Intel 11th Gen Core i5-1135G7 CPU 4-core 8-thread with 2.40GHz base frequency and 4.20GHz Max Turbo frequency Graphics Card: Intel Iris Xe graphics card running at 1.30GHz frequency Memory: 8GB DDR4 RAM Storage: 512GB SSD Display: 14-inch 1080p IPS LCD display Weight: 1.45kg

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review: Benchmark And Performance

The ASUS Expertbook B1400 is a thin and light laptop primarily designed for office use. In terms of performance, it has an Intel 11th Gen Core i5-1135G7 CPU featuring 4-cores and 8-threads. The CPU has a 28W TDP and also packs in the Intel Iris Xe discrete graphics chip.

A thin and light laptop needs to be power efficient so that’s how I began the testing. The quad-core Intel CPU uses the most power during photo editing, gaming, rendering and visualisation. Under normal usage which includes opening and closing different applications, the CPU power usage remains at around 15W. However, during web browsing, it shoots up to 35W. In terms of the PC Mark 10 synthetic benchmark, the laptop scored 3545. Compared to some other Intel 11th Gen Core i5 powered laptops, here’s how the ASUS Exepertbook B1400 performed.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

As you can see it is almost in line with the other Core i5 laptops but lies on the lower to middle end of the spectrum when it comes to overall performance. I also ran the Cinebench R20 and R23 benchmarks to test the laptop’s CPU performance. Here’s how it performed to some other laptops in this price range.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

In real-life scenarios, the laptop handles all the basic tasks like photo editing in Vectr, video editing in Filmora and web browsing in Chrome very well. It does not lag and also comes with a dedicated high-performance mode.

In terms of CPU thermal performance, the laptop managed to mostly stay between 75 to 45 °C while web browsing, running apps, editing documents and spreadsheets. The temperature did shoot up briefly during rendering and visualisation, a processing heavy workload. However, for the most part, the laptop remains relatively cool.

I tested some games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider and it scored about 29 FPS. Meanwhile, titles like Valorant and Fornite ran easily at around 90 to 60 FPS respectively at low settings in 1080p resolution. In conclusion, the ASUS Expertbook B1400 performs well in daily productivity tasks and is also capable of some light gaming.

The ASUS Expertbook B1400 has good build quality. It features an aluminium lid on top and a steel support bracket for the keyboard. The ASUS laptop has a solid hinge and its screen has minimal flex. The laptop's base which accommodates the keyboard also feels very sturdy and on its surface has a matte-absorbent coating, which makes typing on it for long hours very easy. With an overall weight of 1.45 kg, the laptop is quite portable and thanks to high build quality, can easily handle the wear and tear associated with daily travel.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

The Expertbook’s keyboard has a 1.5mm key travel. Several laptops come with 1mm of key travel and typing on them don’t feel as good. The 1.5mm key travel is ideal for most use cases making the Expertbook's keyboard worthy of praise. The ASUS laptop also has an ergo lift design that pushes the keyboard up thus making it easier to type.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

The trackpad on the other hand is also decent. The Expert Book B1400 laptop series also features an ASUS Numberpad 2.0, a secondary digital touchpad. However, my particular unit came with a normal trackpad and it works fine. The left-click on the trackpad is positioned slightly above the right click. Naturally, people use left click more than the right-click, so such a change feels welcome. However, it could just be a build quality anomaly and not an intended feature as the laptop spec sheet mentions no such thing.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

ASUS has imbued the Expertbook B1400 with a webcam lid and fingerprint sensor over the power button. Both of them work as intended. The laptop also has an onboard mic with an AI noise-cancelling feature that filters background noise. I tested it and found that it lowered my voice’s volume as well. It did filter out a good chunk of background noise from the fan and AC at the apartment so it's a decent feature to have.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

The laptop has two downwards facing speaker vents and the audio is not good. I recently tested the Infinix INBook X1 and it had far superior speakers in this price range. Lastly, in terms of I/O, the ASUS Expertbook B1400 comes with USB Type-C with Display-out and power delivery support, Two USB 3.2 Type-A ports and one USB 2.0 Type-A port. The laptop also features a D-SUB port for connecting to external monitors in addition to USB Type-C. Furthermore, the laptop also has an HDMI out slot and an RJ-45 LAN port.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review: Display Performance

The display is one area where the Expertbook B1400 laptop lets you down. It comes with a 14-inch 1080p display with just 232 nits of brightness. Ideally, the screen should have at least 300 nits brightness.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

The laptop’s screen has a 178° viewing angle but some portions of the screen, especially its top section, becomes darker when you view it sideways. The laptop's screen covers 64.7% sRGB and 47.7%DCI-P3 colour spectrum. However, some laptops at the Rs 50,000 to 60,000 price come equipped with a much higher specification display. During the Colorchecker analysis, I also found that the laptop's screen is not colour accurate.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review: Battery Life Performance

I tested the laptop's battery life two times. In the first test, I put the laptop in performance mode, the screen’s colour set to “vivid” and brightness to 100%. Naturally, the laptop managed a battery life of 4h and 21 minutes.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review Price Details Specs

In my second attempt, I put the laptop in balanced mode, changed the screen’s colour setting to “Normal” and reduced the brightness to 80%. Now, the laptop returned a battery life of 7h and 28 minutes. Therefore, I’d put this laptop’s battery life somewhere around 7 hours in real-world usage, which is pretty good. The laptop has a 45Wh battery which is a bit smaller than the 55Wh unit the Infinix INBook X1 comes with.

ASUS Expertbook B1400 Review: In Conclusion

The ASUS Expertbook B1400 is a well-built laptop with decent performance and high portability. Its small size and high build quality make it a good daily driver and its impeccable keyboard makes working on it for hours a bliss. The laptop’s low-brightness screen is a letdown. However, its decent battery life, good I/O port selection and high build quality make up for it.

Personally, I’d connect an external monitor, a mouse and a keyboard to this laptop and use it as a work PC thanks to its great I/O port selection. The laptop has an approximate price of Rs 55,000 and for that it's a good choice for office work. You can also check out Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i or Acer Aspire 5 as some other viable options.

Meta announces new privacy-focused features on Facebook Messenger

If you’ve ever been worried that your Facebook Messenger chats have been screenshotted, worry not as the company has just announced that you will be informed anytime a screenshot of the conversation is taken. In a statement, Meta stated that building secure and fun interactive features takes time and requires engineers to innovate and solve technical challenges. It also announced that it will feature end-to-end encrypted group chats and calls in Messenger. With cybercrime and hacking on the rise, it’s more important than ever to find great ways to connect with friends and family through private and secure communications. This seems like a step forward for the company amidst privacy concerns.

Facebook Messenger features

New features available on Facebook Messenger

The feature was first spotted on Vanish mode but will now be rolled out to all messenger conversations. So, if anyone takes a screenshot of your conversation, you will receive a notification. Mark Zuckerberg also showed off what the notification will look like in an image that he shared on the social media platform. Given that privacy is a concerning issue in this day and age, a step like this could help people feel a bit more secure when communicating through Facebook Messenger. In fact, as we earlier reported, Meta even launched a new Women's Safety Hub. The company has made it a priority to make the platform safer for women and give them the ability to freely access information without the threat of harassment. The hub will be available in 12 Indian languages including Hindi and other regional languages.

In fact, the Central Board of Secondary Education has joined hands with Meta (formerly known as Facebook) on an ambitious AR/VR project. The company will train around more than a crore students as well as 10 lakh teachers in new educational methods involving Augmented Reality as well as Virtual Reality. Courses such as Digital Safety and online wellbeing will be offered under the curriculum. This marks a significant step for Meta as this is a rare occasion where the company is able to partner with a government educational institute for a brand-new, tech-focused curriculum.

Google Play Store is now displaying the option to download games on Windows PCs directly

We already talked about how Google is planning on taking Android games cross-platform in 2022 with its Play Games app (reportedly under development), but even before that happens, the game Lineage2M by NCsoft is showing a “Download on Windows” option on Play Store.

The option is apparently visible to everyone checking the app in Play Store on Windows PC. This works using a custom Purple emulator developed by the game developer NCsoft, but it’s still very unusual that Google has the option for direct download showing up in Play Store.

Clicking the button downloads a .exe file for Windows and the setup walks you through installing the game and the Purple emulator.

The Windows OS and requirements are also mentioned in the Playstore listing. Users will need Windows 8 or higher running on a PC powered by Intel i5 processor (3.0GHz) with 8 GB RAM, 4GB VRAM, Geforce GTX9xx series GPU or higher, and at least 10GB storage.

At the very least, this is an interesting development and it would be cool if users had the option to download other apps and games in a similar manner. Google has also asked developers to optimize their games for PC and it’s likely that we will see some major announcement on the front sooner rather than later.

A great year for mobile gamers?

Google first announced that it will bring in a Google Play Games app for Windows laptops, tablets and PCs in 2022 at the Game Awards held on December 9. The seamless gameplay switching from Android to Windows will work via a Google Play Games app.

Of course, Google isn’t the only one working on such a cross-platform solution. Microsoft has partnered with Amazon to build an Android app layer in Windows 11. And emulators like BlueStacks have existed since forever and particularly focus on smooth gaming performance.

Exclusive: OnePlus Nord 2T to come with Dimensity 1300, 80W fast charging and 50MP triple camera stack

OnePlus Nord 2T is an upcoming mid-range phone from OnePlus that builds upon the legacy of the Nord 2. The original Nord sold like hotcakes when it launched back in 2020 and OnePlus doubled it up in the following year with the Nord CE and Nord 2. Now, as expected the OnePlus Nord 2T is all set to launch in India very soon and today we are sharing its key specifications.

Oneplus Nord 2T vs OnePlus Nord 2

As per OnLeaks, the Nord 2T has a Full HD+ display and is powered by the Dimensity 1300 chipset. The Dimensity 1300 is yet to go official but going by MediaTek’s track record you can expect a bump in performance over the 6nm Dimensity 1200. The display on the Nord 2 is seemingly carried over to the Nord 2T, going by the dimensions.

However, one of the key highlights of the Nord 2T is its support for 80W fast charging out-of-the-box. While the Nord 2 arrived with support for 65W fast charging, it wasn’t until the OnePlus 10 Pro which was recently launched in China, where OnePlus officially introduced 80W Warp Charging.

The camera stack largely remains the same as the Nord 2 though we’re expecting some sensor upgrades. Here’s everything you need to know about the OnePlus Nord 2T.

OnePlus Nord 2 was launched in July 2021 in India

OnePlus Nord 2T leaked specifications

The OnePlus Nord 2T features a 6.43-inch Full HD+ (2400x1080 pixels) resolution display which likely uses an AMOLED panel. The screen supports a 90Hz refresh rate and may or may not have a punch-hole notch cutout for the selfie camera.

The Nord 2T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset which is going to be paired with 6GB/8GB/128GB RAM along with 128GB/256GB storage options to choose from. The phone will likely run on OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12.

The OnePlus Nord 2T has a triple camera array on the back headlined by a 50MP camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP monochrome sensor. On the front, we get a 32MP selfie camera.

As for the battery, the Nord 2T is tipped to come equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 80W SuperVOOC fast wired charging.

It remains to be seen when the Nord 2T launches in India but as per some rumours, OnePlus could launch a Nord phone in February.

Sony HT-A7000 soundbar Review: A fantastic modular soundbar

The Sony HT-A7000 is a fantastic soundbar for the home theatre enthusiast who doesn't want to run cables through his house. It has a simple plug and play setup and the soundbar can auto-calibrate itself to your room. It supports all popular formats including Dolby Atmos and Sony’s own 360 Reality Audio. It has two HDMI 2.1 ports for a 4K 120Hz pass-through. The soundbar is yet to receive an update to support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) but the two HDMI 2.1 ports make this device futureproof. It has excellent build quality. The overall sound quality is absolutely immersive with a decent representation of Dolby Atmos height channels via its up-firing drivers. The only downside is that the soundbar is very premium priced. As of writing this review, the Sony HT-A7000, paired with the SW3 subwoofer is priced at Rs 1,50,980. The variant we got for review - the HT-A7000 paired with the more powerful SW5 subwoofer is priced at Rs 1,77,980. The SA-RS3S surround speakers are an additional Rs 30,990. It does deliver some breathtaking sound with some impressive surround effects when you get the complete package.

The value of a home theatre has increased tremendously over the past 2 years - and rightly so. While a lot of movies have been released in the theatre only, it hasn't taken them long to transition to streaming services online. Streaming service providers like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and more have cashed in on people spending more time at home by offering quality content in high fidelity formats like 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. To enjoy the content in its fullest fidelity, one needs to invest in a TV capable of doing justice to these formats. But the TV is just one half of the entertainment story. To truly immerse yourself, you need to invest in a quality home theatre as well. While the debate for soundbar vs home theatre is a never-ending one, we can safely say that soundbars have started offering a very immersive experience especially when you consider their plug and play setup. Today we have with us Sony’s flagship modular soundbar - the HT-A7000. You can purchase the soundbar separately with the option of two different wireless subwoofers and can invest in rear surround speakers later if you like. The soundbar boasts of support for Dolby Atmos along with Sony’s own 360 Reality Audio.

While you can get the bar, sub and satellite speakers separately, for the purpose of this review we have used them all together as a package and will touch upon what it's like using the system as a whole or just the individual components.

Sony HT-A7000 What’s in the box

In the box, you get the soundbar itself along with an HDMI cable, power cable remote control, and audio cable. The HDMI cable that comes in the box is identical to the one you get with the PS5. It is an HDMI 2.1 cable and the soundbar has two HDMI 2.1 passthrough ports. In the subwoofer box, we get just the subwoofer and the power cable. In the satellite speakers' box, we get two satellite speakers and two power cables.

Sony HT-A7000 Connectivity options

When it comes to connectivity options, the Sony HT-A7000 has an HDMI port for eARC and two HDMI pass-through ports that support HDMI 2.1 along with 4K/120Hz and Dolby Vision passthrough. The soundbar also has an optical port, aux port, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi. The speaker also boasts support for DTS-X, Dolby Atmos and Sony’s own 360 Reality Audio. The soundbar has upward-firing drivers along with side-firing beam tweeters, five front-firing drivers and built-in dual subwoofers. These dual-subwoofers are active when you aren't using the dedicated subwoofer. But when the wireless sub is paired with the bar, the low frequencies are transferred to the sub. When it comes to smart features, the speaker supports Amazon Alexa along with Chromecast.

Sony HT-A7000 Connectivity options

Setting up the Sony HT-A7000

Setting up the Sony HT-A7000 is plug and play. Place the soundbar under the TV and connect it to the TV via the provided HDMI cable. Since the soundbar has three HDMI ports two are inputs and one is the output. Connect the soundbar and the TV by plugging the HDMI cable in the soundbar’s output port and the eARC port of your TV. Plug the subwoofer and rear satellite speakers into a power outlet. All the speakers sync to the soundbar automatically. If they don't, you can simply press the ‘link’ button behind the speaker when prompted and the little red light on the front of each speaker will turn green.

When you power on the soundbar for the first time, switch the HDMI source to the eARC port. One of the best features of the HT-A7000 is that just like the HT-Z9F (review), you get onscreen instructions for setup and settings which is a boon, especially when compared to other soundbars.

Sony HT-A7000 on screen controls

Sony HT-A7000 Build and design

The Sony HT-A7000 has a very commanding presence when placed below your TV. Unlike the Samsung Q950A (review), the Sony has a traditional flat rectangular design. Whether you prefer the sharp edges of the Samsung or the traditional design of the Sony is up to you. What I will give Sony the extra point for is putting the display upfront (unlike the Samsung, which has it on top) so it is readable by the user. And yes, the Sony soundbar does give you the option to dim the display and switch it off completely in case it is hampering your experience.

The Sony HT-A7000 has a front facing display

The front of the HT-A7000 has a grill with a premium finish behind which we have five drivers. Unlike the HT-Z9F, this grill is not removable. We also have two beam tweeters for the surround effects. There are two upward-firing drivers as well on the soundbar for height and Dolby Atmos. The left and the right of the soundbar have two ducts that house the dual built-in subwoofers. The upward-firing speakers and the subwoofer duct have a fabric covering similar to what we saw on the Samsung Q950A. The rest of the top has a premium glass finish. You may want to be careful as it is possible in the long term this glass can get prone to scratches. You also have touch controls on the top right corner of the soundbar and while I am one that prefers physical buttons to touch controls, it is just a personal preference. All the connectivity ports are neatly housed at the back with some space for simple cable management.

Sony HT-A7000 subwoofer duct

The soundbar is not as deep as say the Sennheiser Ambeo (review), but it will occupy considerable space below your TV. Its length is just right to fit below a 55-inch or even 65-inch TV.

The subwoofer on the other hand has a unique design reminding me of the subwoofer found on the Sony HT-ST5000. The one we have with us is the SA-SW5 subwoofer. It has a textured finish all around with a fabric front. The down-firing driver is slightly elevated for better bass response. It has quite a unique design and is a lot bigger than the Samsung Q950A subwoofer.

Sont HT-A7000 subwoofer inside

The rear satellite speakers are quite unassuming and remind me a lot of the ones you got with the HT-Z9F. Unlike the Samsung Q950A surround speakers that have 3 drivers facing front, side and up, the Sony has a single driver and a single tweeter facing one direction. I was sceptical about the surround performance of these speakers, but more on that in the performance section. The surround satellite speakers are well built and have a good amount of heft to them. They also have a premium grill covering the drivers, just like the main bar.

All in all, the soundbar is extremely well built and while it may appear minimal when the lights are down for movie night, in the day, this beast will command attention below your TV and that's a very good thing.

Sony HT-A7000 on screen controls

Sony HT-A7000 Performance

For the course of the review, we paired the Sony HT-A7000 with an LG B9 OLED TV. If you have a compatible Sony BRAVIA TV, then you can use the TV as the centre channel. This wasn't the case for us. However, the LG B9 does support HDMI 2.1 along with eARC, so we were able to exploit Dolby Atmos on this soundbar.

Sony HT-A7000 touch controls

I would recommend that once you connect the soundbar to the TV, during the setup process you will be asked if you want to optimise the soundbar for the room. You should do this as it calibrates the soundbar and speakers to the room. You can do this again from the settings menu if you move the speakers around. You can find this under Setup- Advanced Settings - Speaker Settings - Sound Field Optimization. It really helps increase the surround effects of the soundbar.

For the duration of the test, we consumed content from the TV built-in OTT apps, played some games on a PS5 (Review) and Xbox Series X (review) and also connected an Apple TV 4K to the soundbars HDMI port to test the pass-through capabilities.

Sony HT-A7000 Movie performance

Before we get into the details of the performance, I have always had one problem with soundbars boasting of Dolby Atmos sound - you never feel like the sound is coming from exactly above you. This feeling is amplified when you play Dolby Atmos content and expect the rain to fall from above you. With the Sony HT-A7000, I am happy to say that there were moments when I looked up at my ceiling, wondering if I heard the sound from above me or was my mind playing tricks on me. Considering the lack of height performance on the HT-Z9F a mere two years ago is a testament to how far virtual surround sound technology has advanced in Sony's library of premium soundbars.

Sony HT-A7000 up-firing driver

While streaming services have a large catalogue of Dolby Atmos content, we played some of our Dolby Atmos content via a Dolby Atmos demo disc, some content on the Apple TV 4K with moves we’ve purchased and of course, content off streaming services.

Straight off the bat, I’d like to tell you that for the best immersive experience, you should invest in the SW5 subwoofer and the rear speakers. In a movie like Ready Player One’s race at the 13-minute mark, you have a lot of cars whizzing by the screen. There is a ‘jump’ here where all the cars fly through the air and a subway train comes crashing into the cars. This is just one of the instances where I actually looked up wondering whether I heard the sound come from above me or not. Needless to say, all the cars whizzing on screen were very well represented in the surround speakers. To get the best from the surround speakers I increased their volume to max, which is 12. I kept the subwoofer volume at 10 which is just 2 points shy of the maximum volume to get the thumpiest bass when consuming content.

Sony HT-A7000 subwoofer

Even in the Dark Knight rises, the motorcycle chase where Batman appears for the first time was impressively executed by the surround speakers. There is an Immersive AE button on the remote control of the soundbar and I highly recommend you enable it as it does widen the area of surround sound.

Even the sequence in Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Mysterio tricks Spider-Man into walking in front of a train is an absolute treat to watch. The sound of the train at the end of the sequence originates from the left surround speaker before filling the room, giving you a very good surround experience.

The movie enthusiast who has access to good surround sound content will definitely enjoy the effects this soundbar has to offer. The soundbar has sound presets like Cinema, Movie and Standard, but I found that leaving it on Auto Sound yielded the best results.

Sony HT-A7000 drivers

We tested the soundbar in a 12-feet by 14-feet room and it was more than enough to bring the house down. For the most part, I left the soundbar at 60% volume and got a very rich experience. Going beyond 80% made the room vibrate considerably.

Sony HT-A7000 Music Performance

Before we get into music, know that the soundbar supports Sony’s 360 Reality Audio and while I couldn’t get my hands on any music mastered in 360 Reality Audio, there is a demo on the soundbar to give you a taste of the feature. Apple Music does have content in Dolby Atmos and we played music primarily by connecting the smartphone to the bar via Bluetooth and also some content from the Apple TV 4K connected to the soundbar.

Sony HT-A7000 360 reality audio

The soundbar does have quite pronounced bass in music and you can manually tune this down if you like. While I know most in India prefer bass-heavy music, the added bass is signature Sony and does not sound bad. Vocals are clear and instruments come to life. Whether you are listening to Mamacita by Black Eyed Peas or The Weekend, some Daft Punk or even some Punjabi music from Jalebi Baby to Bijlee Bijlee by Hardy Sandhu, the soundbar is a sublime experience. Some of the songs do bring their surround effects into the mix as well. But even without that, the separation of the instruments, the clarity of the vocals and the thump of the subwoofer make this soundbar enjoyable for music as well.

Sony HT-A7000 Soundbar Gaming Performance

Sony’s 3D audio on the PlayStation 5 is quite impressive when it comes to headphones and I am patiently waiting for it to make its way to soundbars. Until then, you can expect some excellent surround sound from the HT-A7000. Once again, the channel separation and surround effects work really well. In a game like Uncharted 4 when you are in the middle of a firefight, you can hear the bullets whiz all around you. Similarly, in a game like Spider-man Miles Morales (review), you get this immersive surround effect when you trigger your Venom powers. Even in Ghost of Tsushima (review), when an archer fires from offscreen, you can hear it from the respective surround speaker.

Sony HT-A7000 Surround speakers

For the surround output overall, I thought I’d be disappointed that the SA-RS3S surround speakers lack the up-firing and side-firing drivers we've seen in the Samsung Qn950A, but that wasn’t the case. While it is difficult to comment on which system is better without hearing them side by side, I think each brings its own advantage to the table. For the SA-RS3S surround speakers, I placed them equidistant at ear level 4 feet away from me and found the experience to be very good. Then I replaced them and sat in my ideal position at home which placed the left surround speaker 2 feet away from me and the right 6 feet away, both at ear level and facing me. After calibrating the home theatre, I got a very good surround experience. Without the SA-RS3S surround speakers, the soundbar tries to enhance its channel separation to mimic a surround sound experience and while this may get the job done for a small room, I think investing in the surround speakers is paramount for an immersive viewing experience.

Sony HT-A7000 Remote Control

The Sony HT-A7000 comes with a simple remote control that's almost identical to the one found on the HT-Z9F, with a few key features moved around. In addition to controlling the input source, you also get access to the Immersive AE (which I recommend you switch on and forget about), control for the volume, surround and subwoofer levels along with playback controls. The remote control is functional, intuitive and easy to use. Its only downside is that you need to point it directly at the soundbar to use, which can feel a little dated.

Sony HT-A7000 remote control

Sony HT-A7000 Review: Bottom line

It does deliver some breathtaking sound with some impressive surround effects when you get the complete package, but then again so does the Samsung Q950A which is available for almost half the price. I would highly recommend you visit an offline store and experience these soundbars as you truly have to experience them to believe how sublime they sound.

OnePlus 10 Pro receives a second major update after launch, improves camera

To stay ahead of the competition in 2022, OnePlus chose to launch the OnePlus 10 Pro earlier this year. Early releases, on the other hand, can occasionally result in unpolished or unstable software. As a result, OnePlus has recently released its second significant update following the launch to improve the software experience for OnePlus 10 Pro owners.

On January 24, all OnePlus 10 Pro phones running ColorOS 12.1 in China received the software update. Several software upgrades have been added, according to the update, to improve the phone's camera performance. For images shot from the back, the primary rear camera now offers improved capture quality, colour accuracy, and software stabilisation. The upgrade to the front-facing sensor improved the photo's realisticness as well as the sharpness of the subject in the frame.

In terms of overall system performance, the update provides a smoother, more reliable, and more consistent software experience. It also aided in the resolution of a battery problem that caused the device's battery to deplete at an unimaginably rapid rate. In terms of gaming, the new update assisted in resolving an issue in which the Floating Window made an irritating sound when gamers were gaming with the Floating Window function enabled.

The second version of ColorOS 12.1 update in OnePlus 10 Pro

As per the reports by ITHome, the latest ColorOS 12.1 update for the OnePlus 10 Pro enhances the phone's global internet roaming network within China. Finally, a new tool called Foreign Translation has been introduced to the Floating Windows bar, which functions similarly to Google Lens in global markets. Global Translation is a function that allows the user to translate the material on the screen into their native language with a single touch on the ColorOS device's Floating Windows ball.

If you own a OnePlus 10 Pro, you should receive an automated notification about the upgrade. If you wish to check for updates manually, go to Settings > System > System updates.

The OnePlus 10 Pro has a 6.7-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED screen with a QHD+ (3216 x 1440 pixel) resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The gadget is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 80W wired and 50W wireless SuperVOOC fast charging technology and operates on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It boasts a triple camera system on the back with a 48MP Sony IMX789 primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 32MP selfie shooter on the front.

NASA is now offering a million dollars to keep astronauts well fed in its Deep Space Challenge

As we’ve stated many times, space travel is hard, like incredibly hard. The human body isn’t meant to be out under the stress of space travel…yet. In the past few years, scientists and researchers have looked at innovative and clever ways of keeping astronauts well-fed for long periods of space travel. Remember that in a spaceship, food is going to be limited, so how we make these resources last longer is paramount. To that end, NASA has just announced that the agency will pay upto a million dollars to anyone who comes up with the most ingenious and practical way of feeding astronauts in deep space. Basically, the project requires teams to think up ways of food production that can actually be replicated on a spaceship or another planet!

What's cookin'? Seriously, we want to know. Phase 2 of the Deep Space Food Challenge offers up to $1 million to teams who demonstrate food production technology for future long-term space missions, potentially benefitting people on Earth. Ready? Sign up: https://t.co/SYr3lbqkVq pic.twitter.com/zIBnnuAdKp

— NASA (@NASA) January 20, 2022 NASA tweets out its Deep Space Challenge

In an official tweet, the agency states, “Phase 2 of the Deep Space Food Challenge offers up to $1 million to teams who demonstrate food production technology for future long-term space missions, potentially benefiting people on Earth.”. It is a bold plan and one that in tier words, will help streamline food production here on Earth. In a statement to the media, Jim Reuter, associate administrator for NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate stressed that “Feeding astronauts over long periods within the constraints of space travel will require innovative solutions. Pushing the boundaries of food technology will keep future explorers healthy and could even help feed people here at home.”.

The real issue here is keeping food fresh and retention of nutritional value. Contestants will have to figure out how to streamline clean food production in space, all while maintaining taste, nutrition and hygiene. These technologies will also lead to a better understanding of how to manage food production here on Earth. As we race into the vast unknown of outer space, a man’s still gotta eat!

Apples iPhone 15 Pro could launch with a 5x periscope camera

iPhone 15 rumours and leaks have already started surfacing. Apple has been testing prototypes and component samples of 5X telephoto lenses for the iPhone 15 Pro. A final decision will be on the manufacturer, which is expected in May 2022.

According to 9to5Mac reports, analyst Jeff Pu claims the iPhone 15 Pro versions will include a periscope lens with 5X optical magnification. Apple is in talks with Lane Optics, which is likely to be the primary provider of periscope lenses for the iPhones that will be released in 2023.

Also, the reports say the Cupertino-based corporation has already received component samples, and a final decision is expected by May of this year. If the components are authorised, Apple will add the periscope lens to the high-end variants of the 2023 iPhone range, which we expect to be dubbed the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. If the firms reach an agreement, Lane Optics will most likely provide Apple with more than 100 million components. It will have a significant influence on the company's revenue. It's not the first time Apple's iPhone has been rumoured to contain a periscope lens.

Periscope lens for 2023 iPhone 15 Pro edition

In an earlier report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple was working on including a periscope lens in the "2H23 iPhone" for improved optical zoom.

iPhone 15 Pro periscope camera

Periscope lenses rely on a prism that reflects light to numerous internal lenses at 90 degrees to the camera sensor for those who are new to the technique. It permits the lens to be much longer than a telephoto lens, resulting in much improved optical zoom. Samsung and Huawei already have similar technology in their smartphones, allowing for up to 100x optical magnification.

Though the iPhone 15 Pro has yet to be announced, rumours say that the iPhone 14 will include an updated camera with a 48-megapixel wide lens capable of capturing 8K video this year. The next-generation iPhone is expected to be unveiled in the fall.

WhatApp is working on a feature that will allow users to transfer voice chat histories from Android to iOS

So, you’ve just switched from an Android phone over to an iPhone, but are stumped as to how you can transfer your WhatsApp chat history over? Well, it looks like WhatsApp could be developing a feature that allows users to do just that. First reported by WaBetaInfo, it was first spotted on the WhatsApp 22.2.74 beta version for iOS but has not been officially announced as yet. It also looks like the feature is still in its early stages as even beta testers do not have access to it. As of right now, users can move their chat history over from iOS to Samsung Devices.

WhatsApp feature

The new update looks like it’s going to allow users to migrate their chat histories from Android. In the WaBetaInfo image above, you can see that the feature will ask you for permission before starting. And, that’s about the only real concrete info we have on the feature. There has been no official announcement as of now but we could see more about it in the near future as it does have the capability to be a useful tool.

WhatsApp chat history migration from iOS to Android

In fact, we earlier reported that WhatsApp released a feature that allowed users to preview a voice message. While the new WhatsApp preview feature lets you preview your voice recording, it doesn’t mean you can pause a recording in between to resume it later. That said, a beta version of WhatsApp was spotted with an option to pause an audio recording in progress so it's likely this feature is being worked on. The preview feature only enables you to listen to the clip so that users can check what they are about to send to their contact and if it is not appropriate or like they originally intended, they can discard it and record a new voice clip.

Everyone is building AR headsets and Google doesnt plan on being left behind

In the past, we’ve talked about AR/VR headsets from Apple, Microsoft and Meta. Google was the one major player missing from that conversation but that’s about to change. After months of sitting on the bench, Google is apparently ready to throw its hat in the Virtual Reality race.

According to a recent report, Google has established a brand new lab for the development of its upcoming AR/VR headset called Project Iris. The report also suggests that the first prototype AR/VR glasses are almost ready.

Google AR/VR headset

Google AR/VR Headset Details Revealed

The upcoming AR/VR headset leaked details reveal that it will probably be a wireless unit. Meaning the user won’t have to deal with pesky wires while wearing the upcoming Google VR headset. In terms of look at the design, the Google AR/VR headset will look similar to a pair of Ski-Goggles.

Google is also developing a custom OS based on Android to use on its AR headset. The tech giant is also working on a custom chip, similar to the tensor chip found in the latest Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, to power its upcoming AR headset. None of us will get to see the finished product until 2024. The report also seemingly confirms this aspect as the Pixel team is suggested to be working on Project Iris.

However, it is hard to get excited for any brand new Google IP. We already know the status of Stadia and hearing about a Google AR/VR headset and not immediately turning skeptical thinking about a poorly supported product lifecycle with inconsistent updates and support is kind of difficult for me.
