OnePlus 11R leak shows alleged live images and specs of the phone
A OnePlus 11R leak has surfaced on the web that reveals the supposed design and specifications of the device. The report comes from Yogesh Brar (via Gadget Gang) that shares a couple of purported live images of the OnePlus 11R. This supposed OnePlus phone in the pictures dons a case, that barely hides anything. We learn it could be sporting an IR blaster and alert slider on the side panel. This is in contrast to its predecessor, the OnePlus 10R.

According to Mr Brar, the OnePlus 11R is going to roll out with a four-camera array, an IR blaster and an alert slider.
On the front, it could sport a 120 Hz curved AMOLED panel with 1.5k (1080×2412) resolution and a centre punch hole. There could be a 16MP selfie shooter within this cutout.
The back cameras of the phone could be led by a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, followed by a 13MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro/depth sensor.
Inside, the phone could bring a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, up to 16GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, a 5000mAh battery, and 100W charging support.
Unlike other flagship phones like Samsung Galaxy S23 and Xiaomi 13 series phone, the OnePlus 11R doesn’t seem to be bringing Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

GOVO GOBUDS 920 Review: Great fit, but struggles to compete with budget heavyweights
With the GOBUDS 920, homegrown brand GOVO attempts to carve a spot for itself in the competitive budget TWS market in India. While the earbuds have a solid, snug fit and come with an IPX4 rating for sweat and splash resistance, they don’t particularly impress in other areas. The feature set is barebones, the sound quality isn’t up to the mark – even considering the price, and the battery life, while decent, is bested by some of its competitors.
Homegrown Bengaluru-based startup, GOVO, launched a number of products in the competitive audio segment. We got our hands on the GOVO GOBUDS 920 – one of the company’s top-of-the-line TWS earphones priced at ₹2,499. The brand has a plethora of TWS earphones in its portfolio; all priced inexpensively to cater to price-conscious Indian consumers, which we appreciate. Packing 6mm drivers, Bluetooth v5.1, IPX5 sweat resistance, and 30 hours of playtime, these are basic entry-level TWS earphones that compete against products from realme, OPPO, DIZO, and OnePlus in the same price bracket. Let’s see how this homegrown brand’s GOPODS 920 stacks up against the competition.
GOVO GOBUDS 920 Review: Build, design, and comfortThe GOVO GOBUDS 920 have a simple, no-frills aesthetic. The company has opted for a simple matte black finish on the case and earbuds that looks decent and is resistant to fingerprints. However, the case and buds can get smudged easily if your hands are oily. The top of the case and the back of the earbuds house a simple, blue GOVO logo. However, there’s no real flair in the aesthetics. That said the case is fairly pocketable and should fit inside most pockets and handbags.
The front of the case features three LED battery indicator lights and the back features a USB-C charging port. This isn’t the easiest case to open one-handed but you can do it with some finger gymnastics. The earbuds have silicone ear fins attached that add a little something to the overall look. But that’s not all that they do.
The ear fins provide an excellent in-ear fit allowing you to use these earbuds when you’re running or gymming with ease. They fit snugly inside the ear; as long as you find the correct size of ear tips. The company has provided a total of three sizes of silicone eartips, so finding a decent fit shouldn’t be an issue.
The buds are also extremely lightweight; only 4 g each. So, they’re exceptionally comfortable to wear over extended periods of time. The silicone fins slot into the ears and give it that extra snug fit. We’re glad GOVO has chosen to incorporate this since many companies give it a skip. Overall, these are comfortable earbuds for daily use, but they lack any aesthetic flair.
GOVO GOBUDS 920 Review: FeaturesGOVO has incorporated touch controls on the GOBUDS 920 – the back portion of each earbud doubles as a capacitive touch surface. The controls work fairly well but since there’s no dedicated app, you do not get the option to customise the controls. This is something you will get on most Realme and OPPO earphones at the same price point.
Touch controls aside, the GOVO GOBUDS 920 are quite barebones when it comes to features. You get basic features such as voice assistant support, an IPX5 rating, Bluetooth v5.0, and mono-mode support. However, the earbuds are missing other features such as a dedicated app, multipoint connection, on-ear detection, and Active Noise Cancellation.
In contrast, the DIZO GoPods (review) which cost just ₹500 more come with pretty decent ANC and the Realme Buds Q2 (review) – which are available at the exact same price – also have ANC. Therefore, it becomes rather difficult to recommend these earphones when competitors that are priced similarly offer not just high-end features such as ANC but also quality-of-life features such as an accompanying app.
GOVO GOBUDS 920 Review: PerformanceThe GOVO GOPODS 920 have a dark and muddy sound profile since the bass response is excessively bloated on these earphones while the mids pale in comparison. The buds support the SBC and AAC audio codecs, which is standard at this price. While most budget TWS earphones favour the bass response, the GOVO GOPODS 920 takes it one step further by pushing the bass excessively while limiting the mids too much.

This kind of sound profile can often mar the fine details in tracks and it can especially impede the quality of vocals and lead instruments to shine in the mix. For example, in the track bad guy by Billie Eilish, the bass thumps overpowered Billie’s wispy vocals which essentially ruins the ASMR-like quality of the song.
The highs are decent enough for a pair of budget earphones, however, the auditory masking from the bloated bass response can be felt here as well. They don’t sound as sparkly as necessary which can cause a loss of detail in tracks with cymbals and hi-hats such as Something From Nothing by Foo Fighters.

Overall, the earphones’ dark and muddy sound profile struggles to keep up with competitors such as the DIZO GoPods and Realme Buds Air 3s (review) since the mids are much better defined on these competing buds. The buds have decent passive isolation though, achieved by the solid fit, so they’re a good pair of earphones for outdoor usage if you can stomach the excessively boosted bass response.
Another area where the GOVO GOPODS 920 fails to impress is the microphone performance. The earphones’ mics deliver muffled sounds even when you’re taking calls in an indoor setting. In an outdoor setting, the microphones capture too much ambient noise which can get distracting when you’re on a call.
GOVO GOBUDS 920 Review: Battery lifeWith a rated battery life of 30 hours, the GOVO GOPODS 920 has quite a decent playtime for its price. The earbuds are rated to last 5 hours on a single charge, and our testing (with the volume at 60 per cent) yielded similar results with the earbuds lasting 4 hours and 52 minutes on a single charge.
The case adds another 25 hours of playtime to the mix, meaning you can charge your buds five times over before having to power up the case itself. This is decent enough for the price, but the OnePlus Nord Buds (review) and the OPPO Enco Buds2 (review) are capable of a much more impressive 7 hours of playtime on a single charge.
The GOBUDS 920 do come with fast charging support – so, a quick 10-minute charge will provide you with 3 hours of playback, which is impressive. We can confirm that a 5-minute charge provided us with about 1 hour and 20 minutes of playback during our testing.

Each one of these earbuds offers an extra feature or two and comes with a more palatable sound signature. However, if you do find these earbuds in the price range of ₹1,200 – ₹1,600 during sales, they could be a decent purchase at that price.

To be clear, Samsung India has offered peach, mint, and copper colours in its budget range in the past, while the OnePlus Nord series are known for Jade fog and Bahama blues. However, most budget smartphones stick to black and white, which is rather boring.

The wildly-popular battle royale mobile game, BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), was banned in India by the government earlier this year. Krafton had previously assured its player base that it is working to bring the game back to India, but there's been no update on that front yet. However, Chicken Dinner lovers would be pleased to know the game could be making its way back on the Google Play Store.
According to AFKGaming, BGMI content creators Pratik "Alpha Clasher" Jogiya and Sohail "Hector" Shaikh claim that Battlegrounds Mobile India is returning to Android a.k.a. the Google Play Store very soon. The game will allegedly be playable on Android once again in India on January 15.

Many brands have already announced their upcoming launches for the first week of January. 1. Redmi Note 12 Series
The Redmi Note 12 series, which will include the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ will be launched in India on January 5. The Redmi Note 12 series is already being teased by Xiaomi, and the company has already hinted at some of the key specifications of the smartphones.

Apart from this, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is expected to come powered by MediaTek's new Dimensity 1080 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is also expected to come with super-fast 120W fast charging for its 5,000mAh battery unit.
2. iQOO 11 Series
Vivo sub-brand iQOO's next-generation flagships in the iQOO 11 series are also coming to India on January 10, 2023. Now, it is not known if the company will launch both the iQOO 11 and iQOO 11 Pro, but the media invites for the launch do not mention the iQOO 11 Pro. The iQOO 11 is expected to be the first smartphone in India to come with Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The iQOO 11 5G will also debut Vivo's new V2 camera chip, and the smartphone will come with a new E6 AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, 2K resolution, and LTPO 4 technology for variable refresh rate.
In terms of battery, the iQOO 11 5G is expected to come with a 5,000mAh battery paired with 120W fast charging. The iQOO 11 Pro, on the other hand, was launched in China with 200W fast charging. The iQOO 11 5G may also come with a triple rear camera setup.
3. Poco C50Poco is also gearing up to launch a budget offering in the first month of 2023. The company is expected to launch the successor to the Poco C31, the Poco C50. The Poco C50 launch has already been teased on Flipkart, but the launch date has not been confirmed yet. Reports have suggested that the Poco C50 may launch on January 3, and will come with several improvements over its predecessor.
Not much is known in terms of specifications, but the smartphone could come with a dual rear camera setup, instead of the triple rear camera setup on the other two Poco C-series smartphones. The Poco C50 is also expected to feature an HD+ display, and while this will be a budget offering, it is unlikely to come with support for 5G.
4. Samsung Galaxy F04Another budget offering that has been teased to be "coming soon" on Flipkart, Samsung's Galaxy F04 will be launched in India at a price of under Rs 8,000. According to the official teaser, the Samsung Galaxy F04 will be launched at a price of Rs 7xxx. The teaser also shows a dual rear camera setup, and two different colours - a shade of pink, and one shade of green. Not much is known in terms of performance specifications, but the Samsung Galaxy F04's teaser shows that the smartphone will come with 8GB of RAM.
Several reports have also stated that the Samsung Galaxy F04 may come with similar specifications to the Samsung Galaxy A04e which was launched in India earlier this month. The Samsung Galaxy A04e was launched with a 6.5-inch HD+ Infinity-V display and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 paired with up to 4GB of RAM. There is a dual rear camera on the Samsung Galaxy A04e, which includes a 13-megapixel primary shooter and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
5. Tecno Phantom X2 5GThe Tecno Phantom X2 5G will be the next flagship from the brand in India. The smartphone will be launched on January 2, 2023 and will go on sale in the country on January 9, 2023 onwards. The Tecno Phantom X2 5G's key specifications have already been confirmed by the company. Apart from this, Tecno has also unveiled several offers for the upcoming Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, which includes a free trolley bag, a special discount of Rs 2,000, a free screen replacement within 100 days, and a no down payment EMI buying option, along with other offers.

Apple set to change its pricing strategy for iPhone 15 Plus: Know why
After dropping the Mini iPhone from its lineup this year, Apple brought back the once fabled, Plus phones, launching the iPhone 14 Plus as a part of its latest line of phones in September. However, as per reports, the poor sales of the iPhone 14 Plus have forced Apple to take a different route with this year’s launches. This problem has reportedly affected the iPhone 14 as well.
The iPhone 14 Plus, at the time of launch, was positioned to fill the gap between the base iPhone 14 and the Pro models. The main difference between the base iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus was the bigger battery capacity and a larger 6.7-inch screen compared to the 6.1-inch screen of the base iPhone 14. As it turns out though, these differences were not enough to drive the sales of the device when it hit the stores.
Two ways out, only one to pick
To make sure that the iPhone 15 Plus does not report similar sales numbers, Apple executives have reportedly laid out a definitive plan for the next launch cycle. As per a blog post by yeux1122, Apple has two plans in the works. The first one aims to decrease the difference between the Pro and the base model iPhone. The post says the base iPhone 15 would come with the dynamic island. In the iPhone 14 line, it had been reserved for the Pro and Pro Max models.
The second plan is to change the pricing of the devices. While there was no clear indication of how the pricing will change, it has been reported that a new pricing model will be adopted with the launch of the new iPhones. There is also going to be a change in materials and camera parts between the Pro and the Max models of the iPhones as well!
The Plus models of the iPhone are not the only ones to have reflected below than expected numbers. As stated earlier in the article, the Mini phones that were introduced with the iPhone 12 line were discontinued after the launch of the iPhone 13(s) owing to a similar problem. With the Plus models also headed down the same road, it will be interesting to see where they end a couple of years down the line.

Apple iPad Mini 7 could hit markets in 2023: Kuo
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a known Apple analyst, there’s going to be a new Apple product releasing next year - the Apple iPad Mini. Based on his musings, Apple may be launching this product and then may eventually launch a foldable iPad too (a product that’s been the center of many rumours for a while now).
New iPad Mini to launch next yearKuo tweeted recently that the brand will launch the iPad mini which will be equipped with a new processor. The launch is believed to take place by the end of 2023 or early 2024. The brand has not revealed any details about the upcoming processor, however, many are speculating that it could be a next-gen A series or M series chip.

The iPad Mini price will depend entirely on the chipset used. If it does use an M series chip, then it may end up being as expensive as the iPad Air and iPad Pro models that also use M1 and M2 chips.
The Apple iPad mini released last year worked on the A15 Bionic chipset and had a flat edge design. It also offered 5G support, Touch ID, and the 2nd generation Apple Pencil.
Apple foldable iPadKuo also mentioned the alleged foldable iPad, saying that it will not be intended as a replacement for the iPad mini. Rumours indicate that Apple may launch a foldable iPad in 2024 and eventually venture into the foldable smartphone market in 2025.

Poco F5 5G specs like 2K display decoded from IMEI listing
The launch of the Poco F5 FG is expected to happen in January 2023. There is no official announcement from Xiaomi yet. However, according to a report by Xiaomiui, the display and the processor details of the upcoming smartphone have been deciphered. As per it, the Poco F4 was a rebranded version of the Redmi K40s and similarly the Poco F5 5G will be a rebranded version of the Redmi K60.
Poco F5 5G will feature an AMOLED panel with 2K resolution (1440*3200). The device is said to have a 120Hz refresh rate with 1000 nits screen brightness. While the Poco F4 came with Snapdragon 870, the upcoming Poco F5 5G is said to be packed with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC which will be better in terms of performance.
According to the same report, A new phone with Chinese, Global, and Indian model numbers appeared in the IMEI database with the model numbers “23013RK75C, 23013PC75I, and 23013PC75G”. Decoding the model numbers, we learn “23” stands for 2023, “01” refers to January and “PC” refers to Poco. The “G and I” represents the Global and Indian version and “RK” in 23013RK75C possibly refers to the Redmi K-series.
If the leaks come true, The Poco F5 5G will be made available in early 2023, possibly in January. However, it will be first released in China as Redmi K60 and could be later made available for the Global and Indian market under the Poco moniker. Let’s see.

The Realme 10 Pro 5G is a run-of-the-mill smartphone which does everything you’d expect from an under-Rs 20,000 Android phone and does it well. However, the Realme 10 Pro 5G’s design is the selling point here. Realme has managed to make the 10 Pro almost bezel-less with its negligible 1mm bezels, making the smartphone look almost unreal. The chin does hinder the overall full-screen design, but it's still one of the highest screen-to-body ratios we have seen on an LCD display.
Realme 10 Pro 5G Detailed Review:Realme’s signature number series of budget and mid-range smartphones has been fairly popular in India. Last year’s Realme 9 series launched to largely positive reviews across the board, with an impressive camera, a good and innovative design, and a pretty decent display. This year, Realme has taken a different approach. Instead of the camera, the company seems to have shifted its focus more on the design and the overall feel of the Realme 10 Pro and Realme 10 Pro+ 5G. The Realme 10 Pro 5G, which has been launched as an under-Rs 20,000 offering in the country, is the latest smartphone to come into our test center. So let’s find out if the almost bezel-less smartphone is a worthy performer.
Design is probably the only element where we are seeing something we haven’t seen before. Firstly, the build is nothing out of the ordinary, we have a normal glass-slab design with flat edges and a polycarbonate back panel, which comes in three colours - Nebula Blue, Dark Matter, and an interesting Hyperspace Gold colour, which has a reflective finish, almost like a CD. For our review, we got the Nebula Blue colour of the Realme 10 Pro 5G, which is a shade of light blue with a certain matte-like finish. The smartphone feels super lightweight in your hands and the build quality does not feel very solid when you first hold the smartphone.
At the front is where the Realme 10 Pro 5G’s design speaks volumes. The Realme 10 Pro 5G has next-to-no bezels on the front. This no-bezel look makes the Realme 10 Pro stand out in terms of screen real estate, which is probably more than any other smartphone in this range. This is also the slimmest bezels that we have seen on any LCD display on a smartphone so far. With the new design, Realme has managed to achieve an over 93 percent screen-to-body ratio, which is impressive with an LCD panel, since they are not as flexible as AMOLED. However, the slight chin at the bottom kind of hinders with the whole bezel-less look.
Overall, this is a very good design approach from Realme. The bezel-less design does look pretty slick from the front, and while the chin does still hamper the whole aesthetic a little bit, doing this with an LCD display is impressive. However, we are not sure if this design approach will affect the repairability of the Realme 10 Pro 5G. We did ask Realme about the repairability, but are yet to hear back from the brand. Otherwise as well, the flat-edged design looks very seamless and sober, just the build quality doesn’t feel very solid.
Realme 10 Pro 5G: DisplayComing to the display, the Realme 10 Pro 5G uses a 6.72-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is pretty responsive while using the smartphone. The 120Hz refresh rate, paired with 240Hz touch sampling rate makes things pretty slick while navigating through apps or scrolling on your feed. The colour accuracy, however, is not as good as we’d have gotten on an AMOLED display, but this LCD panel does well while you’re watching content or viewing pictures on the Realme 10 Pro. By LCD standards, the Realme 10 Pro’s display is pretty solid.
Realme claims a peak brightness of 680 nits on the Realme 10 Pro’s display. However, while testing this using a digital lux meter, the Realme 10 Pro 5G was able to achieve a peak brightness of 660 nits, and a minimum brightness of 6 nits on a plain white screen. For viewing content, the Realme 10 Pro 5G’s display is good, but not the best or the most colour accurate we have seen in this segment. There is no HDR, so the users can only view up to 1080p content on this display.
While gaming as well, the LCD display on the Realme 10 Pro 5G was able to manage high frame rate outputs, and the display brightness also didn’t disappoint. However, the colours weren’t as vibrant as we have seen on other smartphones in this range, even in the high colour setting in certain games like Call of Duty Mobile. The details also aren’t the sharpest, but this is a pretty decent display for gaming, as compared to other LCD displays.
Realme 10 Pro: PerformanceComing to performance, the Realme 10 Pro comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM. This processor + RAM configuration is the same as the Realme 10 Pro’s predecessor, the Realme 9 Pro. However, in terms of performance, the Realme 10 Pro showed a decent uptick over its predecessor. As compared to the Realme 9 Pro’s 402,916 AnTuTu benchmark score, the Realme 10 Pro put out a benchmark score of 415,566 on AnTuTu, which is an improvement of more than 3 percent.
In Geekbench 5, the Realme 10 Pro 5G scored an impressive 683 points for single core tests, and 2016 points for multi-core tests. This is one of the highest as compared to all under-Rs 20,000 smartphones that we have tested in the last few months. Like the two popular benchmarks mentioned above, the Realme 10 Pro performed fairly well in all benchmarks that tested the smartphone’s processing, rendering, multitasking, storage, RAM, GPU, and other parameters. Here is a graph to give you a fair idea as to how the Realme 10 Pro 5G performs as compared to some of the best performing smartphones under Rs 20,000, according to our tests.
In other benchmark tests also, the Realme 10 Pro 5G was able to hold its own among competition in the market. Here are a few more graphs to give you a fair idea as to how the Realme 10 Pro performed as compared to comparison according to different benchmark and storage tests ran on the smartphone during our testing:
While we are at performance, let’s also mention that UI on the Realme 10 Pro 5G. The latest smartphone from Realme runs on Realme UI 4 based on Android 13. This brings new convenience and safety features like auto pixelate for blurring things on images, upgraded Private Safe, where users can protect their photos and videos with passwords. Additionally, Realme UI 4 also brings many Android 13 features to Realme smartphones, but the software still remains full of bloatware and copious amounts of terms and conditions, even before using basic features like camera or phone.
Realme 10 Pro 5G: BatteryComing to battery, the Realme 10 Pro 5G left us asking for a little more. The smartphone only gave us less than 5 hours of on-screen time. During gaming also, the Realme 10 Pro 5G’s battery ran out faster than expected. During our testing, the Realme 10 Pro 5G’s battery reduced by 9 percent during a 15 minute session of Call of Duty Mobile. The smartphone also lost 6 percent battery life after watching 30 minutes of video on YouTube. 1 hour of navigation made the Realme 10 Pro 5G lose 6 percent battery. Overall, the smartphone gave us just under 5 hours of on screen time, which is not the best we have seen in this segment. Now, where the battery backup lacks, the charging more than makes up for it. The Realme 10 Pro comes with support for 33W fast charging for the 5,000mAh battery. It charged from zero 10 100 in just under 70 minutes, which is pretty impressive.
Coming to the camera, the Realme 10 Pro 5G comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 108-megapixel primary shooter, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The camera performance on the Realme 10 Pro 5G is just about average. The images look slightly dull and lacking detail, except clicking in 108-megapixel mode. The details are much better in 108MP, and the camera adds a certain depth on its own if you are focusing on a single subject. Otherwise, the images out of the Realme 10 Pro's camera don't really stand out in terms of detail or quality. The images from the front camera also seem overprocessed. As we have seen from Realme phones earlier, the front camera makes your face a bit too white, even after turning all the beautifying features on.
So, overall the Realme 10 Pro 5G is a pretty average smartphone, which does everything you’d expect from an under-Rs 20,000 Android phone and does it well, thanks to the nicely-optimised Snapdragon 695 SoC. However, the Realme 10 Pro 5G’s design is the selling point here. Realme has managed to make the 10 Pro almost bezel-less with the negligible 1mm bezels, making the smartphone look almost unreal. Blaupunkt, a German electronic and audio brand has brought its all-new SBW250 wireless Bluetooth soundbar to India which boasts 200 watts along with a wired subwoofer to deliver heavy bass. The soundbar comes with an 8-inch woofer in a solid frame which promises really good bass output.

LG soundbars SC9 and SE6 announced ahead of CES 2023
LG is known to make several announcements every year before CES (Consumer Electronics Show that is organized by Consumer Technology Association (CTA)) every year. Continuing with that tradition LG has launched new soundbar models, and the company has revealed some of the details of the products. The LG soundbars will apparently be put on display in Vegas and be equipped with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for providing users with an immersive sound experience.
The SC9 and SE6 which are the names of the new models will also have the Wow Orchestra, which is, according to the company, a tool that “utilizes every one of the two products’ audio channels to create an expanded soundstage with improved height, depth and power."
While this vague definition was all that we have, the company did clarify that the feature will launch via a software update. Wowcast can also be used by the soundbars to connect to the television wirelessly using WiFi. Once you do manage to successfully sync the devices, the audio settings can be accessed through the Home Dashboard on the display of the soundbars which will come via a future update.

BIS is standardising USB Type-C Charging Ports for devices like smartphones
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has defined standards for the USB Type-C charging port, now that the government is all set to introduce common charging ports for wearable electronic devices and mobiles. Department of Consumer Affairs is mandating common charging ports in order to make things more convenient for users and to reduce e-waste. As a result of this, one will see the same charging ports for tablets, smartphones, and electronic wearables.

Speaking about the new mandate, the Consumer Affairs Secretary, Rohit Kumar Singh, said to PTI "In the last meeting, a broad consensus had emerged among stakeholders on the adoption of USB Type – C as a charging port for, smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. The BIS has notified standards for Type C charger,"
He also confirmed that the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kanpur is working on studying the feasibility of the single charging port, and will be supporting a report to the government.
Why is the government mandating the common chargers?
Speaking about the need to mandate the common chargers, the Secretary said, "We have to align with the European Union (EU) timeline i.e. 2024 because the mobile and electronics makers have a global supply chain and they don't supply to India alone."
This is a significant step towards the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) mission which calls for ‘mindful and deliberate utilization' by people worldwide instead of ‘mindful and wasteful consumption' and was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP-26.

The price of the Redmi 11 Prime 5G in India has been slashed by Xiaomi. The smartphone was launched in September at Rs 13,999. However, now it has received a price cut of Rs 1,000, and so it is now available at a starting price of Rs 12,999 in India.

Google Contacts get a Highlights tab: Whats its use
From being a two-tab application, ‘Google Contacts’ has now become a three-tab application with the addition of a new ‘Highlights’ tab. 9to5Google has shared screenshots of this Google Contact feature. Seems like the icon is not the only thing that Google has changed for the Contact app this year.

To know where you can find this new tab, you just need to go to the app and it shall appear between ‘Contacts’ and ‘Fix and Manage’ in the bottom bar. The 'Favourites' appear below the search tab. The 'Highlights' tab is more user-friendly because it is denser than ‘Favorites’ and contacts can be more easily added in this tab.
The ‘Highlights’ tab is the one that people may shift to, to interact with the app as a whole. Why do we say so? Well, it takes out the need to scroll through contacts and one can just look for the contact. And other than that the grid format in which it is set in makes the application more interactive and accessible than the list.
Hence the ‘Highlights’ app may have given a smarter approach to the app as a whole.
What are the other tabs available on Google Contacts?
Other than that, there is also the ‘Recents’ tab that starts with ‘View Recently’ and each of the contacts comes with details of ‘view date’ and the overflow menu lets you, as a user, clear the history. Also available is the ‘Added Recently’ which provides the list by rounding it up and is possibly the most useful part of the new ‘user interface’.
‘Fix and Manage’ was a feature introduced for users to be able to edit or delete their contacts easily but it remains unclear now whether or not there was a requirement for a tab just for that purpose.

Samsung Galaxy S22 FE existence tipped and is said to come with Exynos 2300 SoC
Contrary to the previous belief that such a device doesn’t exist, a recent leak claims that Samsung Galaxy S22 FE does, perhaps, exist and may be equipped with a MediaTek chip. A Korean leakster who goes by Connor tweeted that the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE will be launched alongside the Galaxy Buds 2. Dohyun Kim, another leakster, also confirmed the same, while saying that there won’t be a Samsung Galaxy S23 FE model.

Another tipster named RGcloudS has stated that the brand may just announce the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE and Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 FE during the second half of the event. The tipster also claimed that the smartphone might be intended as a replacement for the Samsung Galaxy A74.

Rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE specifications have already begun circulating. It is believed that the smartphone will come with an Exynos 2300 chipset and a Samsung ISOCEL HM6 108-megapixel primary camera. The Samsung Galaxy S22 FE price is believed to be $499 (which is around ₹41,285). However, note none of these details is confirmed yet and hence to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Right-to-repair portal launched in India by Piyush Goyal: How it aims to help
Piyush Goyal, the Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs has launched some new initiatives including a right-to-repair portal, an NTH mobile app and new premises for the National Consumer Helpline centre in Delhi on the occasion of National Consumer Day. So, after the United States and the United Kingdom, India has also launched the right-to-repair portal. The right-to-repair will reduce the dependency of consumers on the manufacturers for repairs. Rather, they could go to third-party repair centres and save time and money in the process. It also favours the local repair shops.

Consumers get manuals along with the products they will buy according to the new rules and regulations of the right-to-repair initiative. They can use it to fix their products by themselves or get them fixed by third parties rather than depend on the original manufacturers.
The right-to-repair launch will cover electronic products, consumer durables, mobile phones, farming equipment, and automobiles for now.
As pointed out in the Repairs.org portal, “manufacturers do not have any rights to control property beyond the sale. Limitations on repair have become a serious problem for all modern equipment that also limits how equipment can be traded on the used market”. Even Steve Wozniak chimes in his approval for the right to repair movement.

The Department of Consumer Affairs was not so much in limelight ...and suddenly it has found life in their workings," said Piyush Goyal after the launch on National Consumers Day. Mr Goyal said there will be an increase in the disposal of pending cases and elimination of the backlog in the days to come.
Fixing products by the original manufacturers takes a lot of time and they have unnecessary policies and costs which trouble customers. So, with the new right-to-repair portal, consumers get to repair their products on their own without seeking help from the original manufacturers. In the process, they could save both time and money.
And as they go to the local repair shops, the latters’ business also booms.
Finally, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, National Consumer Redressal Commission President said that the pendency of consumer cases is reducing which gives confidence to consumers that they will get justice.
