New images of the Google Pixel Tablet show off the expected specs and design

Android tipster Kuba Wojciechowski has recently revealed that there will be a single version of the Pixel Tablet, as opposed to earlier speculations regarding there being vanilla and Pro versions. The concept of the Pixel Tablet was first revealed at the I/O 2022 event in May 2022. Wojciechowski has posted images of the first-generation Tensor chip and the Tensor G2 chips.

Google Pixel Tablet updates

It was believed that the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Tablet Pro are called “Tangor” and “Tangorpro”, respectively. However, according to Wojciechowski, the Tangor project has been cancelled. We may only see variants of the Pixel Tablet that will be equipped with the Tensor G2 chip. The tablet is also claimed to offer 8 GB of Samsung LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of Kioxia UFS storage. It may also come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

I have also been provided with a few photos of the device. pic.twitter.com/ctKWQoVDCT

— Kuba Wojciechowski(@Za_Raczke) January 26, 2023 Google Pixel Tablet specifications (expected)

According to the tipster, the Google Pixel Tablet will have a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. This display comes from China Star Optoelectronics (CSOT) and is also supported by a Richtek RT4539 six-channel LED driver. Based on this, we can assume that the Google Pixel Tablet will not have an AMOLED screen. The screen is also believed to be an 11-inch one.

Finally, it is also believed that there will be two types of docks for this tablet. The Yuzu / Y4 dock will support charging while the Korlan / K6 dock will have a speaker.

Google will be making serious changes to the way Android operates

Google has announced that it will let device makers in India license their own apps for pre-installation and will also let users pick their own default search engines. This comes after the Supreme Court announced antitrust directives last week. The court also rejected Google’s challenge against Competition Commission of India ruling stating that the tech giant abused its market position. Google is now changing the way the Android system operates.

"Implementation of these changes across the ecosystem will be a complex process and will require significant work at our end and, in many cases, significant efforts from partners, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and developers," Google announced in a blog post.

Google antitrust

What is the Competition Commission of India ruling?

Counterpoint Research states that 97% of 600 million smartphones in India run on Android. The same research states that 75% of the 550 million smartphones in Europe run on Android. The CCI ruling states that Google exploits its dominant position in the market. It also asked the company to remove restrictions placed on device makers related to the pre-installation of apps.

It also fined Google $161 million (which is around Rs. 1,300 crores).

Google tried to block these directions by warning the Supreme Court that its Android ecosystem would be hampered due to this. The company explained that it would have to change its arrangements with over 1,100 device manufacturers and app developers.

Android

What’s happening now?

The Supreme Court dismissed Google’s plea and asked the company to pay the fine by March 31st.

"We continue to respectfully appeal certain aspects of the CCI's decisions," Google said. The tech giant is working on changing its Android system operations.

Genshin Impact 35 leak reveal new character named Dehya: Here are her details

Genshin Impact's 3.5 beta is now live, and according to leaks, two new characters will be added to the new patch. Dehya, who we have already seen in previous Archon quests, will finally be added to the game as a playable 5-star Pyro claymore user. The other character debuting in 3.4 is Mika, who is part of Eula's reconnaissance squad.

Mika was previously seen during the Windblume festival and will join the playable roster as a 4-star Cryo character designed to support physical units. Dehya is the first 5-star Pyro character since Yoimiya, which was released in 2021.

All information available about Dehya is based on the current Genshin Impact Patch 3.5 leaks, and Dehya's abilities are subject to change as Hoyoverse continues to balance the character ahead of its launch.

New Genshin

What are Dehya Talents based on the Genshin Impact 3.5 leaks?

Dehya is created to serve as a Pyro DPS with sub-DPS and off-field abilities. Her Skill (E) can apply Pyro damage even when she is not on the field, and her Ultimate allows her to inflict rapid Pyro damage by using her fists. Here is an overview of her talents:

Indomitable Flame:

Deals AoE Pyro damage and creates a field called Fiery Sanctum if no existing Fiery Sanctum field created by Dehya is present.

Ranging Flame:

Dehya performs a leaping attack, dealing AoE Pyro damage and recreating a Fiery Sanctum field at her new position. The new field inherits the duration of the previous field and can only be used once per Fiery Sanctum field duration.

Fiery Sanctum:

Opponents within the field take coordinated AoE Pyro damage and active characters have increased resistance to interruption. A portion of damage taken is mitigated and flows into Redmane's Blood, which Dehya takes over 10s. Dehya stops mitigating damage when a certain percentage of her max HP is reached. Only one Fiery Sanctum field can exist at a time.

Lioness’ Bite (Ultimate):

Dehya enters the Blazing Lioness state, gaining resistance to interruption. She automatically and continuously deals Pyro damage with Flame-Mane's Fists and finishes with an Incineration Drive kick. Normal attacks are replaced with Roaring Barrage, which increases the trigger speed of the next Flame-Mane's Fist strike when used within 0.4 seconds of it. If a Fiery Sanctum field created by Molten Inferno is present, it is retrieved and recreated with the same duration once Blazing Lioness ends.

New Genshin

What are Dehiya’s Constellations based on the Genshin Impact 3.5 leaks?

The following are Dehiya’s constellations, as per the leak:

The Flame Incandescent: Increases Dehya's Max HP by 20% and boosts damage dealt by Molten Inferno and Lioness' Bite based on her Max HP. The Sand-Blades Glittering: Extends the duration of the Fiery Sanctum field created by Ranging Flame. A Rage Swift as Fire: Enhances the level of Lioness' Bite, with a maximum upgrade of level 15. An Oath Abiding: When Lioness' Bite's Flame-Mane's Fist and Incineration Drive attacks hit opponents, they restore energy and HP for Dehya. The Alpha Unleashed: Enhances the level of Molten Inferno, with a maximum upgrade of level 15. The Burning Claws Cleaving: Increases the critical rate of Lioness' Bite by 10% and enhances critical damage if certain conditions are met. What are Dehiya’s Ascensions based on the Genshin Impact 3.5 Leaks?

Apple will shift AirPods production to Hon Teng FIT

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted that the tech giant is planning to move the assembly of the Apple AirPods to Hon Teng (FIT), which is a subsidiary of the Hon Hai/Foxconn Group. Foxconn is also responsible for the production of Apple iPhones, though it’s important to know that they are not solely responsible for the same. Apple iPhones are being manufactured in India, and the brand plans to scale production this year.

(3/5) My latest survey indicates that Hon Teng (FIT) - a Hon Hai/Foxconn Group subsidiary - may be set to take over from Goertek as the new supplier for AirPods assembly. This move will bring significant benefits for Hon Teng.

— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) January 12, 2023 Apple will let Hon Teng assemble Apple AirPods

According to Kuo, with the move, Apple will be able to ensure that the new generation of the Apple AirPods may start shipping out by the second half of 2024, or the first half of 2025. The Apple Airpods may be priced at $99 (which is around ₹8,079.84). Hon Teng and Luxshare ICT will assemble the new Apple AirPods Max.

Kuo also added that the assembly of the Apple Airpods and other projects such as Hon Hai's EV business/MIH Consortium will end up being two major growth drivers for the company in the coming years. This means that Hon Teng will be a company to watch out for in the future.

Apple

Apple will also manufacture its own chips

In other news, Apple is also gearing up to manufacture its own in-house chips and will be phasing out Qualcomm slowly. The company is also developing its own OLED displays to decrease the reliance on third-party companies such as Samsung Display. Its first micro-LED display is rumoured to be in an upcoming Apple Watch series.

LG soundbars SC9 and SE6 announced ahead of CES 2023

LG is known to make several announcements every year before CES (Consumer Electronics Show that is organized by Consumer Technology Association (CTA)) every year. Continuing with that tradition LG has launched new soundbar models, and the company has revealed some of the details of the products. The LG soundbars will apparently be put on display in Vegas and be equipped with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for providing users with an immersive sound experience.

The SC9 and SE6 which are the names of the new models will also have the Wow Orchestra, which is, according to the company, a tool that “utilizes every one of the two products’ audio channels to create an expanded soundstage with improved height, depth and power."

LG CES 2023

While this vague definition was all that we have, the company did clarify that the feature will launch via a software update. Wowcast can also be used by the soundbars to connect to the television wirelessly using WiFi. Once you do manage to successfully sync the devices, the audio settings can be accessed through the Home Dashboard on the display of the soundbars which will come via a future update.

LG soundbars 2023 features

Both soundbars come equipped with features like Triple Sound Optimizer, Smart Up-mixer, AI Room Calibration tailors and an AI Sound Pro too. The Triple Sound Optimizer helps in giving the performance a “boost”. The Smart Up-mixer is used to turn audio into a multi-channel surround system. And as LG claims, the AI Room Calibration, has the capability to tailor each of the soundbar according to the place you put it and thereby improves the low-end frequency. The AI Sound Pro can analyze the music of whatever game or music you are playing to apply the best setting to them thereby giving the users an optimized hearing experience.

Google Pixel 7, 7 Pro confirmed to arrive in India

New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) Years after launching its flagship Pixel 3 in India, tech giant Google has confirmed that it is all set to bring its next-generation Pixel 7 series to India.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be available on Flipkart, which has been the online retail partner for the tech giant for all Pixel launches in India.

"...just our heart skipping a beat cuz the wait is almost over! Pixel 7 Pro and 7, coming soon to India," the company wrote on the microblogging platform Twitter.

After the Pixel 3 series in 2018, Google stopped producing mainline Pixel phones in India, indicating that the Pixel 4, Pixel 5, and Pixel 6 were never introduced in the country.

However, the tech giant released a few A-series models, such as the Pixel 3a, Pixel 4a, and most recently, the Pixel 6a in the country.

A recent report said that the Pixel 7 will be equipped with a 6.3-inch display, which means it will be slightly smaller than the 6.4-inch screen available on the Pixel 6.

The Tensor G2 chipset will power the series, which is all set to launch on October 6.

According to a tipster, the new chipset will utilise the same CPU as the original Tensor.

The alleged internal specification leak had been found from an alleged Pixel 7 Pro testing unit. The device, which ran a Geekbench test, revealed more details on the next Tensor chip made by Google.

Next-gen GoPro likely to retain old design with new sensor

San Francisco, Sep 6 (IANS) US-based action camera manufacturer GoPro is planning to launch its flagship Hero11 Black with a new sensor and an old design.

The upcoming action camera might look identical to the Hero10, which was launched last year. All the significant changes will be made on the inside, as revealed by photographs and specifications, reports The Verge.

The biggest upgrade sounds like a new sensor, which will reportedly be capable of 27MP still images as the current Hero10 Black, for comparison, shoots 23MP photos.

The new model will reportedly still cap out at 5.3K at 60 frames per second, or 4K at 120 fps.

According to a recent report, the new model may include two displays, one at the back and the other next to the camera sensor at the front.

Meanwhile, GoPro Hero10 Black was launched in India last year for Rs 54,500 with a new GP2 processor.

The new processor enables HyperSmooth 4.0 video stabilisation for steadier shots. It also ensures higher resolution 23MP photos, and improved low-light performance.

GoPro Hero10 Black also has the ability to use the camera as a webcam for Zoom and Team calls.

Rocket League, DOTA 2, and eFOOTBALL were the three esports additions to the CWG games 2022. Of the three, it is Dota 2 where Indian players bagged the bronze.

The Dota 2 team led by Moin Ejaz had unfortunately failed against Malaysia in the semi-finals but things turned around in their favor in the following match against New Zealand.

The Indian contingents included Moin Ejaz, Ketan Goyal, Abhishek Yadav, Shubham Goli, and Vishal Vernekar.

Our guys had a clear victory in Game 1 but New Zealand players gave a tough game in the mid-game. However, gladly, Moin and the team fared well in the second game and secured the bronze medal.

Now, even though the victory is not officially counted in the medal count, the bronze medal in the Commonwealth is still praiseworthy. We congratulate Team India!

Samsung to release its foldable tablet soon

The Korean smartphone manufacturer, Samsung, who seems to be single-handedly carrying the baton for foldable phones forward, looks to be set to announce its first foldable tablet soon. The industry leaks suggest that this move might come in the next six months.

Samsung, since the launch of its first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, back in 2019, has been busy expanding its foldable phone lineup. The company has been announcing newer phones year on year and stands as one of the only prominent smartphone manufacturers to be dedicating effort and resources to making better foldable phones. The latest foldable phones in Samsung’s lineup are the Z Flip 3 and Fold 3, with them now looking towards foldable tablets.

Samsung could soon unpack its foldable tablet

As per a blog post published on Naver, Samsung’s take on a foldable tablet could be announced simultaneously along with its flagship Tab S9. The source of this claim comes from the local hinge suppliers that are reportedly prepping for shipping newer hinges that could be fitted onto tablets. This announcement could happen sometime between January and February 2023.

Samsung Unpacked 2022

While there are a whole lot of sources across the internet giving out leaked information about the upcoming foldable phones, this is one of the first instances where information about Samsung’s foldable tablet has come to the surface. No matter how little information we may have on this new tablet, it is safe to say that it is not beyond Samsung’s radar to work on a foldable tablet.

Nevertheless, if Samsung comes out with a new tablet or not, it can be said that the upcoming Unpacked event on August 10 will have a lot in store for the tech circles to talk about.

The Bose soundbar is equipped with Dolby Atmos for surround sound. This is accompanied with the company’s own tricks for the spatial sound. Bose has put in custom arrays, dipole-transducers, and low-profile transducers along with what is called Bose spatial technologies.

Here’s how the company describes its in-house features:

“While conventional Dolby Atmos soundbars create sound “overhead,” the 900 does more. Bose PhaseGuide technology adds other dimensions just as precisely, placing and “pinning” distinct sound to the right and left where there are no speakers. So the helicopter hovers above you – while the actors run past you, not across your screen. Or the singer is standing center-left while performing – and you hear them performing center-left in your room. When there’s no Dolby Atmos content, the horizontal spatial effects are just as effective, and Bose TrueSpace technology takes over for the vertical experience, remixing signals to add “height” without adding a ceiling speaker.

For programming or playlists, Bose QuietPort technology delivers exceptional bass performance and virtually no distortion at any volume. And if furnishings or system placement interfere with audio quality, proprietary ADAPTiQ technology automatically fixes it, optimizing performance for every space, every time.”

Bose notes the dimensions of the Smart Soundbar 900 to be — 2.3” high, just over 4” deep, and 41” long.

It is oval-shaped with wraparound metal grille and a supposedly impact-resistant tempered glass top.

As mentioned already in the beginning, there’s support for HDMI eARC which allows for a single cable two-way audio transmission with your TV. The Bose Smart Soudbar 900 specifications include WiFi, Bluetooth, built-in voice control with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and Bose Voice4Video which lets you quickly call up a video on screen with your voice.

Sony launches HT-A9 home theater system and HT-A7000 Soundbar in India starting at Rs 1,70,980

Sony has launched the HT-A9 home theatre system and HT-A7000 soundbar in India. Both systems are very unique and cater to different requirements. The HT-A9 has four individual units that offer a 7.1.4 channel output. These four individual units do not need to be placed symmetrically to give the user a surround sound experience. They calibrate to the room based on the position you keep them in, which is quite cool.

On the other hand, the Sony HT-A7000 is a traditional soundbar and just like the Sony HT-Z9F (review) is modular in nature which means you can pick up the soundbar and subwoofer first and add the rear speakers later on to enhance your surround sound experience.

In terms of features, both the systems offer a lot of similar features, so let's run through those first before delving into the specifics of each. To begin with, both the Sony HT-A9 and the Sony HT-A7000 offer users support for both DTS-X virtual surround sound and Dolby Atmos. Both also support Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping Technology and Sony’s 360 Reality Audio. Both also support HDMI passthrough with support for HDMI 2.1. This means that if you have a PS5 and an Xbox Series X and a limited number of HDMI 2.1 ports on the TV, then you can connect your console to the soundbar itself to take advantage of features like 4K 120Hz support.

When connected to select Sony BRAVIA TVs, both the HT-A9 and the HT-A7000 support BRAVIA Acoustic Centre Sync. This means that the TV is used as the centre channel for the speakers to add a level of immersion to the content consumption experience. Both also support Bluetooth, Wi-Fi along with support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Let's dive into the specifics of each system.

Sony HT-A9 Home Theater System

The Sony HT-A9 is a uniquely versatile system when it comes to where the speakers can be placed in a room. There is no need to rearrange the room to suit the position of the speakers. In fact, the 4 individual units do not need to be placed at the same height or at a particular distance from each other for the optimal experience.  According to Sony, “with Sound Field Optimization, the A9 uses dual microphones in each speaker to ingeniously measure their relative height and position, allowing the system to generate twelve phantom speakers that completely encircle the room in immersive spatial sound. To activate Sound Field Optimization all you need are a few clicks on the remote and in just a few seconds it's auto-calibrated. The four speakers connect wirelessly so there are no cables running across the living room”.

When it comes to the design, the HT-A9 features Sony’s Omnidirectional Block Design. Each unit has a cylindrical shape with a flat back making it easy to wall mount the unit if needed.

Users can also add the optional SA-SW5 or the SA-SW3 subwoofer to the system for a more immersive experience.

When it comes to specifications, the Sony HT-A9 will give users a 7.1.4 channel setup with 504W of power output. It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI eARC connectivity along with an HDMI 2.1 pass-through port. It also has an optical port. For audio formats, it supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby Dual mono, LPCM 2ch, LPCM fs(48kHz).

Sony HT-A7000 Home Theater System

Moving over to the Sony HT-A7000, this has a more traditional soundbar design and users can choose to pair it with either the SA-SW5 or the SA-SW3 subwoofer. Users also have the option of the SA-RS3S rear surround speakers to add to the immersion. The A-7000 gives users a 7.1.2 channel surround sound experience. The soundbar itself has up-firing drivers and side-firing beam tweeters to add to the surround effects. How effectively this works in the average room where you may have a door or a glass window is something we will tell you in our review.

Coming to the specifications, the HT-A7000 is a 7.1.2 channel with 500 W of power output. For connectivity, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI eARC connectivity along with an HDMI 2.1 pass-through port. It also has an optical port. For audio formats, it supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby Dual mono, LPCM 2ch, LPCM fs(48kHz).

Sony HT-A9 home theatre system and HT-A7000 Soundbar price and availability
