Samsung Galaxy A33 specs and renders leaked: Exynos 1200 SoC and a 90Hz OLED display expected

Samsung is expected to be working on multiple Galaxy A series phones and leaks about these phones are sporadically dropping on our radar. The latest to catch our attention is the Galaxy A33 and Galaxy A13 4G, as reported by the German website WinFuture. The Galaxy A13 5G edition is already out but hasn’t been made available to the Indian market. So, there are fewer chances of this 4G model coming our way. However, the Galaxy A33 could be hitting Indian shores like its predecessor, the Galaxy A32 which is currently available at around ₹21-22K price point.

Samsung Galaxy A33 Image, Specs, and Features (Expected)

The Samsung Galaxy A33 has a rear-side resemblance to the Galaxy A53 that we had exclusively brought to you a while back. The back camera bump has a smoother elevation from the surface. The incumbent sensors aren’t spoiled yet.

Meanwhile, that’s not the case for the front, which is said to be a 6.4-inch FHD+ 90Hz OLED screen with an Infinity U cutout.

Its interiors could house a Exynos 1200 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. The latter may benefit from a microSD expansion too.

Galaxy A13 4G Image, Specs, and Features (Expected)

The device is alleged to come with a PLS LCD face. This could measure 6.6-inches diagonally and sport a 90Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. Within its Infinity-V notch, there could be an 8MP selfie clicker.

Rotate to the rear side, and there you may get a 48MP primary camera, a 5MP ultrawide snapper, and a duo of 2MP token sensors.

Inside, it could be housing an Exynos 850 coupled with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging.

We will keep you posted on new details as and when they arrive. So, stay tuned to Digit.in for more news, reviews, features, buying guides, and everything else tech-related.

Krafton gives players chance to win Royale Pass 8 for free: Heres how to participate

Battlegrounds Mobile India has recently made available its new Royale Pass 8. Now, it is giving all players the opportunity to earn it for free. In order to do so, they need to participate in a scavenger hunt to be eligible. Here’s how it works.

Those interested in participating will first have to follow the official BGMI account on Instagram, @battlegroundsmobilein_official. Next, they have to find the new RPM8 logo in the new Santorini map. Once players find it, they will have to take a screenshot, highlight the logo, and then post the image on their Instagram account while tagging the official Battlegrounds Mobile India page. They then will have to fill out the form link in the official BGMI Instagram bio.

Krafton Inc. notes that only 20 lucky players will win the contest and get the new BGMI Royale Pass 8 for free. Further, it should also be noted that the contest will end on February 23.

With the recent banning of Garena Free Fire, Battlegrounds Mobile India is down a chief competitor. Some might call this a bit of karma as Garena Free Fire was one of the games that benefited from the banning of BGMI’s predecessor, PUBG Mobile. It is not yet known if or when Free Fire will be released in India again. However, in the midst of all this, Activision's Call of Duty: Mobile seems to be sitting quite pretty as the game severed its ties to Tencent before the initial ban wave by the Indian government. Speaking of Call of Duty, Activision recently announced that this year’s mainline Call of Duty titles will be a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare. On top of this, players can also expect “new experiences in Warzone.” It is possible that additional details will be revealed during E3.

Xiaomi 12 Mini images leaked, plausible design of Xiaomis next mini flagship smartphone

Xiaomi has time and time again launched some pretty compact smartphones, but if leaks are to be believed, the new Xiaomi 12 Mini indicates that the company’s next mini flagship smartphone may be much smaller. Xiaomi is already knee-deep in the development of this mini flagship device and as per the leak, the company has reportedly finalized the design for the handset which will be launched under the 12 series.

Xiaomi 12 Mini First Look pic.twitter.com/9rW5jSAYSm

— Sam (@Shadow_Leak) January 31, 2022 Xiaomi 12 Mini: Speculated Size and Features

Xiaomi 12 Mini is speculated to have a 5.9-inch display which is as small as the ASUS ZenFone 8. The Mini entry in the Xiaomi 12 series could still feature three rear-facing cameras, including a much larger bottom lens though if the rumour is to be believed.

There had been rumours of a plausible release of the Xiaomi mini last year, but Xiaomi released the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X instead which are currently available only in China. Both the Xiaomi 12 and 12X have 6.28-inch screens, which is still relatively large when compared to other small smartphones by other brands available in the market.

As of now the ZenFone 8 is one of the most compact Android smartphones, even though it's relatively much bigger than iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 13 mini. With few to no details about the alleged Xiaomi 12 Mini, we suggest you take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for the company to reveal more information in the coming days.

iOS 15 Rollout: Apple confirms the availability of its newest OS

At the stroke of 10:30 pm, when the world presumably sleeps, India will awaken to a new OS - the iOS 15. Apple has confirmed the availability of the iOS starting today, and has also revealed pertinent information regarding the devices that are compatible with the latest OS.

What are the new updates that come with the iOS 15?

The iOS 15 update will bring changes to a couple of features, like:

Facetime:

With video calling becoming a norm, Apple has decided to follow in Zoom’s footsteps. The brand has revealed that with the iOS 15 update, Facetime will now display call participants in a grid format, just like zoom. Additionally, you can share Facetime call links with people who do not use Apple products too - they’ll be able to join in the calls just by using the link. This feature should help the brand regain a piece of the video calling market that’s largely dominated by the likes of Zoom. Facetime will let you blur your background during calls, and the spatial audio feature is claimed to offer a better audio quality.

Facetime:

Shareplay:

If you’ve missed watching movies with your friends during the pandemic, you can now expect your social life to pick up with Apple’s latest offering, Shareplay. This lets you share content while on Facetime with your friends so that you can watch your favourite shows or movies together. On paper, this sounds similar to Chrome’s Teleparty extension and should work the same way.

Notification bar:

The new iOS 15 update will also change the way your iPhone’s notification bar works. By using a new feature called Notification Summary, the smartphone will give you access to different notifications at different times of the day based on your usage patterns (it uses machine learning to give you efficient performance). Missed calls or messages will not be withheld from users.

Notification bar:

Apple Maps:

Apple Maps’ most notable upgrade seems to be the augmented reality feature that will let you scan buildings near you via your iPhone camera while you’re using the app. The app will also offer periodic notifications to your smartwatch or iPhone when you’re approaching your desired destination. Other updates include elevation data, 3D images, road colours, and driving directions.

LiveText

A new feature, LiveText will let you copy text seen on images. You can copy numbers and text while accessing images in Photos, Safari, screenshots, and the camera.

IMessage

With the iOS 15 update, all news articles, pictures, or playlists that are shared with you will be stored in a separate “Shared with You" folder.

IMessage

How can you download iOS 15?

At 10:30pm, you can go into your Settings > General > Software update to upgrade to iOS 15. This new OS is compatible with iPhone 6s and all iPhones released after that. This means it is compatible with iPhone SE (Gen 1), iPhone SE (2020), iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Will these features work as well as the brand claims they will? Stay tuned for our official reviews to know!

Creators, You Can Now Record Live Streams on Telegram

Here’s some good news for creators - Telegram’s latest update will let you record your live streams, while also changing chat themes, accessing new emojis, and browsing detailed read receipts. Creators looking to upload panel or group-led podcasts can leverage the app while using its new range of features to add effects to their videos. Some of these new effects include gradients in message bubbles, animated backgrounds, fullscreen emojis, and new colours.

What are the other Telegram updates?

Telegram 8.0, which is the latest update, will also let you live stream your content to an unlimited audience. You can create a channel and grow the same, or use this feature by creating a group chat and then broadcasting it. Chat admins can record the live stream and publish the same so that users who missed the live version can still access the content.

What are the other Telegram updates?

Other features like double ticks appearing to signify that messages have been read by group members should also come in handy. While this feature is similar to Whatsapp’s double tick functionality, what marks it as different is the fact that data related to read receipts will only be available for seven days. The brand, thus, claims that they have a better handle on privacy.

5 things to look for when purchasing a new TV

Buying a TV can be a hard decision these days. With the amount of technology that a TV packs, from resolution to different HDR standards, refresh rate and OSes, there are many things to consider, not to mention the correct screen size for you. Unlike a smartphone, a TV is a gadget that can serve you for almost a decade before needing a replacement. Hence, it is essential you get the right TV for your needs. If you are in the market to purchase a new TV, then here are five things you need to consider before making your purchase decision.

Screen size

The most important thing to decide is the screen size of the TV. You should consider a larger screen size for a more cinematic experience if you have a large room. However, a large screen in a small room can be an uncomfortable content consumption experience. So, ensure you sit at a comfortable distance from the TV. There is a simple way to know the minimum viewing distance for a particular screen size - divide the size of the TV by 10. So, the minimum viewing distance for a 55-inch TV is 5.5 feet. For a 65-inch, it's 6.5-feet. For a 75-inch TV, the minimum viewing distance should be 7.5 feet. You get the drift. Anything closer can be an uncomfortable viewing experience. Remember, this is the minimum viewing distance. You can always move further back.

Resolution

Unless you are looking at a 32-inch or 40 to 43-inch TV, we say, go for a 4K TV. There is a plethora of content available in 4K via streaming services. Some TV brands do an excellent job of upscaling 1080p and even 720p content on the display to give you a good content consumption experience. 1080p is a good option for smaller screen sizes such as 43-inches or smaller. There is no point investing in an 8K TV right now. Not only are they too expensive, but there is no 8K content for you to stream from streaming services. While YouTube has some 8K content, don't expect to stream your favourite movie in 8K via Prime Video anytime soon.

TLDR, go for a 4K. It's too soon for 8K, FHD is only an option for screen sizes 43-inch and smaller.

HDR

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. It essentially gives you a richer content consumption experience in terms of colours, contrast and brightness. There are a number of HDR standards, but the one to watch out for is Dolby Vision. As the name suggests this is Dolby’s HDR standard and is available on a large number of TVs. HDR 10 is an open standard and is available on many more TVs. So try and get a TV with Dolby Vision, if you can. A lot of TVs advertise HDR as a unique selling proposition, but a lot of budget TVs deliver a lacklustre HDR experience. So try and identify the peak brightness of the TV before purchasing it. A minimum of 400 nits of brightness is needed for an acceptable HDR experience.

OS

Almost all TVs today are Smart TVs and run on an operating system, just like your phone. There are a few popular OSes. LG has its own WebOS, Samsung has Tizen, and a majority of other TV makers like Sony, Redmi, Mi, OnePlus, TCL and more run on Google’s Android TV UI. Some brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus and more have their own UI overlaying the Android TV. These OSes essentially let you connect your TV to the internet and consume content from streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and many more without resorting to an external device. A lot of these smart TVs can be controlled via your Google Assistant and Alexa enabled smart speakers. Almost all TVs running on these popular OSes come with a voice-enabled remote control letting you control the TV by simply using your voice. You can also control your Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa enabled smart bulbs and security cameras from the comfort of the TV. Safe to say, your smart TV can act as a one-stop hub for all your smart connected devices.

Connectivity

Last but not least are the connectivity options. Ensure you have a minimum of three HDMI ports on the TV to connect devices such as your set-top-box, gaming console and more. If you are looking to connect your TV to a soundbar or home theatre, then ensure the TV comes with an HDMI ARC or eARC port. ARC stands for Audio Return Channel and eARC is Enhanced Audio Return channel. Some TVs come with a new HDMI standard called HDMI 2.1. Look for this if you want a future proof TV. This also come with other connectivity options such as an optical audio port and some also sport a 3.5mm AUX port. TVs also come with USB ports, letting you consume content off a pen drive. They also come with support for Bluetooth. To connect to the internet you have access to Wi-Fi along with an ethernet port.

That was a quick look at five things to consider when purchasing a TV.
