If you haven’t updated your Apple Watch to the latest software version, then it’s high time you do that. If in case, you need help with it, here we have a guide for that. This is important as the CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) has found vulnerabilities in the Apple Watch that could leave it bare and open to threats like hacking, phishing, and data loss.

CERT-In Wants You To Update Apple Watch: Here’s Why

Apple Watch

In a recent report, CERT-In, a Government of India department has discovered several vulnerabilities in the Apple Watch that could let bad actors execute arbitrary code, bypass the built-in security and take control of your data.

It points to the issue with the “buffer overflow in the AppleAVD component; an authorization issue in the AppleMobileFileintegrity component; out-of-bounds write in Audio, ICU and WebKit component; type confusion in Multi-Touch component; Multiple out-of-bounds write and memory corruption in GPU Drivers component; out-of-bounds read in Kernel component and memory initialization in libxmI2 component”.

All those technical mumbo jumbo aside, what you need to know is that Apple has already fixed it. In its security content report, this buffer overflow issue in the Apple AVD component with “improved bounds checking”.

So, here’s what you got to do:

Apple Watch

ASUS ROG launches Strix Scar 17 SE, Flow X16, and High-Tech Gamer Fashion in one announcement

ASUS has just launched two brand new high-end gaming laptops - ROG Strix Scar 17 SE and Flow X16 - powered by the top-end 12th Gen Intel Core i9 and AMD 6000 Ryzen 9 processors respectively. On top of that ASUS also released its #TeamROG collaboration with gamers and content creators. It also revealed a mobile game set in the set in the ‘ROG SAGA universe.’ And most importantly, ASUS released the Expanded ROG Slash fashion line so in addition to getting their hands on high-tech laptops they can also get their hands on some high-tech fashion.

ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 SE Specs And Features

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition or SE gaming laptop comes powered by an ultra-powerful Intel Core i9-12950HX CPU featuring 16-cores and 24-threads. The CPU has an equal number of performance and efficiency cores, making it a beast in terms of capabilities. What’s even insane is that the CPU can consume a maximum of 157W TDO, which is closer to some desktop-level processors. The ultra-powerful CPU is also paired with an Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti graphics card featuring 16GB GDDR6 VRAM and a maximum TGP of 175W.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition gets two 17.3-inch display options - FHD and QHD. The 17.3-inch FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) panel comes with a 360Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB coverage with adaptive sync, and Dobly vision. The 17.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) screen also gets the same features but a bit lower 240Hz refresh rate support. Both laptops can support up to 64GB DDR5 memory running at 4800MHz clock speed and up to 4TB PCIe 4.0 SSD running in RAID 0 mode.

In terms of I/O the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition gets 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort, 1.4 and Power Delivery, 1 x USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 4, 1 x RJ-45 (LAN 2.5 Gbps), 1 x HDMI 2.1, 1 x 3.5 mm combo audio jack, 1 x DC-in. For connectivity purposes, the ROG gaming laptop gets WiFi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.2. The laptop also gets a 90Wh battery and has an overall weight of 3.0 kg.

Last but not the least, what makes the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 SE really special is its special ink which reveals hidden messages under the special UV light that comes bundled with the box. The message isn’t particularly impressive but ASUS thinks it's a cool feature to be included here. Personally, I’d much rather have a better cooling mechanism in every gaming laptop.

ASUS ROG Flow X16 Specs And Features

ROG Flow X16

ASUS refreshed its convertible gaming laptop, the ROG Flow series, with new specs for 2022. The ROG Flow X16 features up to an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor. Meaning a lower-spec version of the laptop will also be available. The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS features 8-cores and 16-threads, it also has a 16MB L3 cache but sadly gets no overclocking capabilities. The best part about this processor is the inclusion of RDNA 2 graphics, the same that’s used in modern gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

To keep the laptop running cool ASUS has outfitted the ROG Flow X16 with Frost Force Technology and Pulsar Heatsink, featuring three fans and a high-density heatsink.

Speaking of graphics, the ASUS ROG Flow X16 also gets a dedicated graphics card in the form of Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti featuring 8GB GDDR6 VRAM and 125W TGP with dynamic boost. Similar to last year, the Nvidia GPU comes in a separate case and can be connected via ASUS’ proprietary port. The best part of the ASUS ROG Flow X16 seems to be its 16:10 aspect ratio display which is available in two different panels - mini LED and IPS.

The Mini-LED powered ROG Flow X16 features a 2560 x 1600 maximum resolution, 165Hz maximum refresh rate, 1100 nits of maximum brightness, and 100000:1 contrast ratio. This particular panel is Pantone validated meaning it displays colour accurately and also has Dolby Vision, 512 individual dimming zones, and last but not least, a touch screen. On paper at least, it is a truly impressive touch display, one that I can’t wait to test.

The other touch-based IPS panel for the ROG Flow X16 has 500 nits of maximum brightness, 165Hz maximum refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 colour spectrum coverage. This display is also Pantone Validated and supports Dolby Vision.

In terms of memory and storage, the ROG Flow X16 gets up to 64GB DDR5 RAM and up to 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. For connectivity and I/O, the ASUS convertible gaming laptop gets

WIFI 6E (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.2 and 1 x XG Mobile interface (including 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery), 1 x USB 3.2 Type-C with support for DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 1 x HDMI 2.0b, 1 x 3.5 mm combo audio jack, 1 x MicroSD card reader. The laptop gets a 90Wh battery and weighs around 2.0kg.

Expanded ROG Slash Fashion Line

ASUS also plans to release a brand new lineup of Cyberpunk themed bags and a number of caps as well. The bags are of several different types including Crossbody Bags, backpacks, Hip bags, and Protective Laptop Bags. Furthermore, they’ve adjustable straps, and multiple compartments, and are made out of water-repellent TPU materials.

Amazfit T-Rex Pro 2 and Amazfit Vienna leaked: Heres everything we know

Amazfit is going to launch two new outdoor-centric smartwatches namely the Amazfit T-Rex Pro 2 and the Amazfit Vienna. How do we know, you may ask? Well, the press shots, renders, and repertoire of both watches have leaked on GSMArena, giving us a good idea of what to expect when they launch. They sport military-grade durability, AMOLED displays, and plenty of fitness modes. Out of the two, the one named Vienna seems more premium as it has better water protection and overall hardware.

The details mentioned hitherto are based on the leak and so are advised to be consumed with a grain of salt.

Amazfit T-Rex Pro 2 Specs and Features (Expected)

T-Rex Pro 2

Amazfit T-Rex Pro 2 borrows the design cues from its precursor. As per the leak, Amazfit will be releasing the new T-Rex in Astro Black, Wild Green, Gold, Classic Black, and Desert Khaki colors. The rugged look is certified by the 15 MIL-STD-810G standard. It even has 10 ATM water resistance.

The round dial houses a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a 454x454 pixel resolution and 1,000 nits of peak luminance. You will be interacting with the watch through touch and the side buttons.

Inside, the T-Rex Pro 2 is said to be packing an improved BioTracker 3.0 PPG sensor for heart rate tracking, SpO2, sleep, and stress monitoring. The watch will also be adept at keeping score of Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) and more than 150+ sports modes backed by dual-band GPS and a boatload of sensors. The hardware also consists of a 500mAh battery, 32MB RAM, and 512MB storage.

Amazfit Vienna Specs and Features (Expected)

Vienna

As said in the beginning, Vienna is reportedly a higher-tiered product and is specced with 20ATM water resistance, a 500mAh battery, 32MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. Its display is a bit smaller though at 1.28-inches and has 416x416px resolution, and 1000 nits of peak brightness. The rest of the paraphernalia is apparently similar to that of T-Rex Pro 2. But, again these are what the leak tells us. We can be confident once the actual watches come out. We’ll let you know once Amazfit announces the same.

Google Pixel Watch leaked images reveal its likely design

Google has a history of being lousy at keeping secrets. Yet again it has proven indiscreet as the company’s upcoming smartwatch has apparently been “left and found at a restaurant in the U.S”. And so, whomsoever spotted it has managed to capture photos of it from various angles and shared it with Androidcentral. These newly leaked images of the so-called Pixel Watch align with its early leaked renders and rumors. So, let’s learn how the Google watch looks like and what we know of it from the leaks thus far.

Google Pixel Watch: Design, Specs and Features (Expected)

Google Pixel Watch G logo

Google’s smartwatch could be round, unlike Apple’s square or squircle. It appears to be minimal in its demeanor in the leaked shots.

Google Pixel Watch bands

The watch could come out in other color choices too. Speaking of which, the accompanying pictures of the Pixel Watch band show its blue color and jelly-like build, similar to the Apple Watch strap. Like the watch case, the bands could also be optable in more colorways. However, what’s mildly disappointing is that the band seems not that easy to swap, as it has a unique design from the market standard.

Google Pixel Watch speaker

The watch has got metallic accents on the surrounding frame, the crown, and the base. As per the source, the bottom side “looks metallic but feels like it’s coated with glass.” It is described as “well-built and premium” but “glossy and glassy”. Along the metallic frame, there is a narrow slit which could be its speaker outlet.

Google Pixel Watch leak | Source: u/tagtech414 (Reddit)

Google Pixel Watch leak | Source: u/tagtech414 (Reddit)

Now, soon after this leak, allegedly from the same source, a reddit post came answering some more questions about this Google smartwatch.

The redditor who goes by the handle u/tagtech414 says, “No charger was left, and the battery is dead.” We wonder if the Pixel Watch supports Qi Wireless charging. It would be great if it does.

Google Pixel Watch

Although the watch in the images is a black-colored one and the screen is mostly off, we can’t make out the bezels, the guy suggest it has “pretty substantial” borders.

Coming back to the band, he mentions of “a little lip under each button so the bands should catch and lock in”. And while you put it on, the base of the watch apparently doesn’t make that much contact with the skin.

Dimension-wise, the person claims it's about the same size and thickness as his 46mm Galaxy Watch. He further adds that it’s about ½ inches thick and 1 ½ inches in diameter.

He also tells, the watch did boot up to the G logo screen only and didn’t move past that, perhaps because of a missing fully-loaded OS. By the way, Google could ship its first twatch with the Wear OS 3 software co-developed with Samsung. Even the underlying processor could be an Exynos and not Snapdragon Wear, as identified within a Google Update code by folks over at 9to5Google.

Google Pixel Watch render | Source: EVLeaks

Incidentally, in another leak by EVLeaks (via 91Mobiles), we get to see the Pixel Watch face renders with Fitbit, and a heart rate scanning icon. The watch carries a model name — “Rohan”

Well, that’s about we could gather from the reddit thread and other leaks so far. We will be keeping an eye on the said reddit post as well as other Pixel Watch leaks and revelations in general. The first Google smartwatch is expected to come either at Google I/O 2022 in May or alongside the Pixel 7 series in the fall.

Twitters Edit Tweet feature is finally on its way and heres how it could work

The Edit Tweet button on Twitter is a highly anticipated feature among users of the social media giant. Of late, you may have started hearing about it as the brand itself announced that it is working on the same. Although initially it was assumed to be an April Fool’s day prank, later was revealed to be true. Some users have even been able to get access to the feature and shared how it works. Without much ado, let’s see the new Twitter feature in action.

How the Twitter Edit Tweet option works

Twitter Edit Tweet feature | Source: Alessandro Paluzzi

First, we have got screenshots of the Edit Tweet option from a mobile developer and leaker, Alessandro Paluzzi.

Once you publish a tweet, you will see ‘Edit Tweet’ among the list of options within the 3-dot menu. Tap it and you will see the original tweet in the editing mode. Make the required changes and hit the Update button. The tweet will be updated with the edits you made. That’s it.

Additionally, another developer named Nima Owji also shared how to edit the tweets, but he showed this in the form of a GIF. So, it may give you a better idea of how this Editing function works.

I recorded a GIF from the upcoming #Twitter's Edit Button! pic.twitter.com/FPIRzzjUAF

— Nima Owji (@nima_owji) April 16, 2022

Mr Owji says that you can only edit the text content of the tweet and you won’t be able to change the audience once the tweet has been posted.

Now, even though this enlightens us about the basic functioning of the Twitter Edit feature, it doesn’t answer some of our questions.

For instance, neither of them tells us if we can edit only a portion of the tweet or in its entirety. It isn’t revealed if our audience or viewers would be able to see the changes. We don’t know how many times we may be able to edit a tweet. Also, it isn’t clear how the edits affect the retweets.

Twitter Blue

Going forward, we may learn about them in leaks and official revelations from Twitter. However, for now, these are some queries bothering us.

One last thing, we know that the Twitter Edit Tweet functionality will be an exclusive feature for Twitter Blue subscribers, at least in the early days.

1/ We’ve been exploring how to build an Edit feature in a safe manner since last year and plan to begin testing it within @TwitterBlue Labs in the coming months. Sharing a few more insights on how we’re thinking about Edit https://t.co/WbcfkUue8e

— Jay Sullivan (@jaysullivan) April 5, 2022

Perhaps, if Twitter sees some change in its top management, things may change course. As you may know, the free-speech evangelist and tech-billionaire Elon Musk is also a big proponent of this feature. You may have also heard that he is eyeing a hostile take-over of the company. If in case you haven’t, you can read about the whole Elon Musk Twitter saga here.

Mi Band 7 leak suggests built-in GPS, bigger display with AOD mode, and Smart Alarm

The pandemic has evoked fitness enthusiasm in many and wearables have gained traction as a result. Even though of late, Xiaomi had staggered in the burgeoning wrist-wear market (source: IDC), its entry-level fitness bands are popular nonetheless. And, going by a fresh leak by a leakster named Magical Unicorn (via Logger), the company is in the works to launch a successor to the Mi Band 6. Likely named Mi Band 7, the digital health tracker is tipped to feature a bigger screen with an Always-on-display (AOD) mode,  integrated GPS, a Smart Alarm utility, and a slew of new workout modes.

Mi Band 7 Specs and Features (Expected)

The features were spotted within the codes of Xiaomi’s own apps. According to the findings, the Mi Band 7 will carry the codename “L66” and model numbers M2129B1 and M2130B1.

It’ll be a tad larger in screen real estate and project 192 x 490p pixel resolution. And to make things even more efficient, power-wise, the Mi Band 7 might offer AOD. We get to see some visuals of the various AOD clock faces.

Speaking of power, the report also mentions the possible presence of a new power-saving mode in the mix.

Leaked Mi Band 7 AOD | Source: Logger

Also, a feature that’s being teased from the leaked Mi Band 6 firmware and might finally take life in Mi Band 7 is in-built GPS. That and newer workout modes like Zumba and Aerobics in the expanded repertoire would strengthen the pitch.

Not to mention, the rumoured Smart Alarm feature sounds interesting too. It is said to wake you up automatically from light sleep half an hour before your preset alarm time.

Mobvoi TicWatch GTH Pro with arterial heart health, SpO2 tracking, and 5ATM water resistance announced

Mobvoi has added a new fitness tracker to its wearable portfolio named TicWatch GTH Pro. This comes as an upgrade to the standard GTH model that’s currently available in India. However, note that the newcomer is announced for the US market at the moment. That said, what makes it a headline is its novel way of measuring heart health. Christened “Arty Heart Health”, this new platform within the TicWatch GTH Pro tracks arterial waveforms based on pulse strength through fingertips. So, one of the watch’s dual PPG sensors do this, and the other one senses through the wrist like most other trackers of its ilk.

There are other usual sensors for SpO2, sleep, fitness activities, and among other things, 5ATM ingress protection too. Let’s hover over the complete deets now.

Mobvoi TicWatch GTH Pro Specs and Features

Mobvoi has partnered with Cardie X, a global health tech company to make the TicWatch GTH Pro. The watch has got two PPG sensors for tracking your heart health. One of them takes the traditional route through your wrist while the other one lies on the side of the watch. You place your fingertip on it and it supposedly has better look at the blood movements without the distractions of the bones, muscles, and tendons within the wrist area. This flanking optical sensor is powered by the proprietary SphygmoCor technology from ATCOR, a global standard and FDA cleared tech for clinical trials and research.

Having said that, note there is no FDA clearance for the watch itself. So, while it claims to scan arterial and heart rate, the readings might not be medically accurate. This scepticism extends to the Arty Score, personal recommendations the watch gives the user for better health habits.

Anyways, the TicWatch GTH Pro is also stuffed with a SpO2 logger, body temperature analyzer, sleep measurement, option to track 14 activities, notification syncing with the phone, and timepiece features like alarms. The watch is also 5ATM rated against water ingress. The underlying operating system is RTOS and the connectivity option is Bluetooth 5.1.

Mobvoi claims up to ten days of use from a single charge and it takes 2 hours to top it up.

Mobvoi TicWatch GTH Pro Price and Availability

Mobvoi has priced the TicWatch GTH Pro at $99 (~₹7051) and it is available through Mobvoi.com and Amazon.
