OnePlus 10 Pro India launch officially teased OnePlus TV Y1S Pro could tag along

It’s been quite a while since its debut, but the OnePlus 10 Pro is finally close to a launch in India. OnePlus had already confirmed it would launch the flagship smartphone sometime in March and as we are at the fag end of the same, the company has started teasing the impending arrival. In a recent tweet, it says, “Someth10ng powerful is coming!” and you know what that is. However, the phone might not be the only OnePlus product launching at that particular event. A recent report by 91Mobiles suggests that we may soon get a OnePlus TV Y1s Pro too in the Indian market.

OnePlus 10 Pro India Specs and Features (Expected)

OnePlus 10 Pro

OnePlus 10 Pro could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The device may house a 5000mAh battery supported by an 80W adapter.

On the front, it may have a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 3216x1440 pixel resolution. The global variant has a 32MP camera in a left-cornered cutout and at the back, the photography is handled by a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP 3.3x telephoto zoom snapper, and a 50MP 150˚ ultrawide shooter.

Other things in the mix could be Android 12 based Oxygen OS UI, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C 3.1 port, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

OnePlus TV Y1S Pro Specs and Features (Expected)

OnePlus TV Y1S Pro would be a step-up from the OnePlus TV Y1S and the OnePlus TV Y1S Edge that launched some weeks back. This new Pro TV is said to bring a 4K-res screen, 24W speakers with Dolby Audio and Dolby Atmos, 3 HDMI Ports, 2 USB ports, Miracast, dual-band WiFi, Android TV 10 OS, Google Assistant, Chromecast, OnePlus Connect 2.0, 2GB RAM and 8GB of onboard storage.

In terms of design, the thing looks rather similar to the aforementioned siblings. The leaked images show its narrow bezels, and the inverted-v stands. The remote, meanwhile, appears to have hotkeys for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Google Assistant, back, volume controls and home key.

We may get more details in the days leading up to the launch. We are still awaiting the announcement of the launch date.

Android 13 Developer Preview 2 features notifications for excessive battery usage

Google has rolled out the Developer Preview 2 of Android 13 and even though most of the changes are meant for developers, there is this new notification system that would notify you of apps that consume a large amount of battery. This would be applicable to all apps on Android 13, regardless of the target SDK version. Besides, there is also a system notification for long-lasting foreground services of apps.

Android 13 System Notifications for Excess Battery Use

So, there are warning for both excessive battery use and long-running foreground services.

The excessive background battery use notification will be triggered if the app drinks more than its fair share of battery juice in the background in a 24-hour window. You don’t want that and now you’ll know. To decide if it’s unusually high, the system takes into account the following factors:

Foreground services, even those that have visible notifications Work tasks, including expedited work Broadcast receivers Background services Your app's cache

As for developers, Android 13 has shared the rules for when the system can put their apps into a “restricted” zone and what the app can do while in this state. These are guidelines are called ‘battery-preserving measures’.

Devs are to note that the notification pertaining to Background battery use once shown will then be shown after at least 24 hours later. As for the one related to the foreground service, the notification asks the user to take a look at the Foreground Services (FGS) Task Manager and perhaps even take some action. This particular notification will thence be shown at least 30 days later.

However, not all apps will be governed by these rules. The exemptions include:

System apps and system-bound apps Companion device apps Apps running on a device in Demo Mode Device owner apps Profile owner apps Persistent apps VPN apps Apps that have the ROLE_DIALER role Apps that the user has explicitly designated to provide "unrestricted" functionality in system settings

Other than this battery-related setting, Android 13 also wants developers to seek permission for sending notifications, auto-downgrade previously user-granted permissions that aren't required anymore, support for Bluetooth LE, support for MIDI 2.0, a smooth At-a-Glance transition animation, freeform multi-window mode by default, and a new taskbar for Android on large-screen devices.

iPhone 14, 14 Pro CAD renders show differences in their notch design

Apple may be still a long way from launching the iPhone 14 series, but rumours and leaks about the new iPhones are frequently surfacing. The latest ones include the CAD renders of both the vanilla iPhone 14 variants (from MySmartPrice) and the iPhone 14 Pro variants (from 91Mobiles). These add to the earlier reports suggesting that the iPhone 14 Pro will be ditching the notch. Well, if you thought the Cupertino giant will kill the notch for good, it may not be this year as the iPhone 14 renders do share a similar design language as the iPhone 13 lineup.

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Pro CAD renders

The very obvious difference is the ‘pill+hole’ cutout on the iPhone 14 Pro models. The exact details of the underlying sensors and stuff aren’t clear at this point. But, we can safely assume the pill will have a Face ID emitter and IR sensor inside while the selfie camera will be within the hole.

Besides a fresh look on an iPhone fascia, the good thing about this design would be the extra space for the status row.

Rest, everything about the design is familiar.

Speaking of which, the only notable difference in the iPhone 14 design is a thicker glass shield on the back camera panel.

CAD renders of both iPhones reveal a lightning port (alas, no USB-C this time too!), 5G Antenna cutouts, volume rockers, power key, ring/silent switch, SIM tray, mics, and speaker grille. These are more or less in the same arrangement as you’d expect them to be.

In an earlier report, we had learned that both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models will come in 6.1 inch and 6.7-inch display sizes. If you’re wondering about iPhone 14 mini, scratch that, as instead you may get an iPhone 14 Max.

But, the bigger difference may be in their internal machinery. iPhone 14 duo are rumoured to borrow the same Apple A15 Bionic processor and LPDDR4x RAM while the Pro edition iPhones would ship with Apple A16 Bionic chip.

Now, Apple rumours don’t always match reality. So, as is often the case with leaks, take all of these details with a pinch of salt.

OnePlus 10R private testing has begun ahead of its launch in Q2, 2022: Report

OnePlus may have a lot of phones in store for us this year. We have already seen the OnePlus 9RT and the OnePlus Nord CE 2 in India and pretty soon, we may see the OnePlus 10 Pro launch. However, that may not be the only OnePlus 10-series phone that may land in the country. The rumor has it that there is a OnePlus 10R model and it has entered private testing here. The report, by the way, comes from 91mobiles.

OnePlus 10R: Here’s what you need to know

OnePlus 10R

Alleged OnePlus 10R back leaked renders

OnePlus 10R is said to arrive in India by Q2, 2022, i.e., between April and June.

Its expected specifications comprise of a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC at the front and center handling performance. This may be backed by 8GB RAM, 128GB of storage, and Android 12-based Oxygen OS software. The device might also ship with 80W SuperVOOC charging support.

Design-wise too, there isn’t much that could be said with confidence. We had seen a leaked image of a OnePlus phone that was speculated to be one from the OnePlus 10-series. Now again, since the word around the street is that there may not be a OnePlus 10, it could be a OnePlus 10R.

Anyway, going by that image (above), the OnePlus 10R design includes a rectangular camera island by the back housing a giant camera lens. That’s the only takeaway.

So, this time around OnePlus is rumoured to release just the OnePlus 10R and OnePlus 10 Pro. We have extensively covered the latter. Well, it’s allegedly bound to India and will reach here on March 22 or 24.

Alongside the Pro OnePlus phone, we may also get to see the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2. The neckband-shaped earphones have appeared in black and blue colours in some recently leaked renders. Except that, its specs and features aren’t known at the moment.

We will keep you posted on any updates on these OnePlus products. As for similar news, reviews, feature stories, buying guides, and everything else tech-related, keep reading Digit.in.
