Dell XPS, Inspiron, Alienware models refreshed with Intel 10th Gen Core series CPUs

After several months of silence, Dell has launched a slew of laptops as part of its updated 2019 product portfolio along with two all-in-one desktops. The American multinational has refreshed models across the XPS, Inspiron, and Alienware series. Some of the models are powered by Intel's 10th Gen Core series CPUs. Available in the Indian market through various online and offline retailers (including the Dell online store) starting tomorrow, Dell's new launches start at Rs 41,990.

XPS 13, 15

Dell's popular Thin and Light laptop continues to exist in its well-recognised compact 13-inch form factor but gets a few notable upgrades. The first is an improved webcam, which now employs a four-element lens construction for increased picture sharpness. In addition, the webcam is now a much smaller unit (2.25 millimetres).

Dell says its improved InfinityEdge display technology allows for even slimmer bezels on all four sides of the display. The laptop is available in a rose gold colour along with the signature carbon fiber black. Powered by Intel's 10th Gen Core series CPUs, the new Dell XPS 13 (7390) will be available in the market from October 2 at a starting price of Rs 1,13,990.

Unlike the XPS 13, the larger XPS 15 is powered by an Intel 9th Gen Core series CPU. Differentiating it from its 13-inch counterpart is a 15.6-inch 4K OLED panel. In addition, the XPS 15 gets discrete graphics thanks to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1600-series graphics card. The Dell XPS 15 (7590) will be available in the market from September 24 at a starting price of Rs 1,66,990.

Inspiron 5000 series

The updated Inspiron 5000 series includes the Inspiron 14 (5490) laptop, Inspiron 15 (5590) laptop, Inspiron 14 (5491) 2-in-1 convertible laptop, Inspiron 15 (5593) laptop, and Inspiron 24 (5490) AIO desktop. All of the aforementioned models are powered by Intel’s 10th Gen Core series CPUs. The Inspiron 24 (5490) AIO desktop comes with a 24-inch display, a pop-up camera that can pulled out and stowed away manually, and an inbuilt soundbar. The new Inspiron laptops borrow styling from the more expensive XPS line-up. According to Dell, the bezels on these models are narrower than they were on last year’s models.

The Inspiron 14 (5490) and Inspiron 15 (5590) will be available in the market from September 24 at a starting price of Rs 57,990 and Rs 41,990 respectively. The Inspiron 14 (5491) 2-in-1 convertible laptop will be available from October 2 at a starting price of Rs 68,990. The Inspiron 15 (5593) will be available from October 11 at a starting price of Rs 42,990. Lastly, the Inspiron 24 (5490) AIO desktop will be available in the market from September 24 at a starting price of Rs 59,990.

When asked about the more affordable Inspiron 3000 laptop range, Anand Subramanya, the Director of Product Marketing at Dell India, said to Digit in a face-to-face interview that the company is eyeing an October launch. To allow faster overall computing speeds, Dell will equip some of the models in its Inspiron series with a solid-state drive. The minimum capacity for these solid-state drives will be no lesser than 512GB, according to Subramanya.

Inspiron 7000 series

Like the updated Inspiron 5000 series laptops, the new Inspiron 7000 series laptops borrow their styling cues from the premium XPS line-up. They are also powered by Intel’s 10th Gen Core series of CPUs. The Inspiron 14 (7490) laptop will be available in the market from October 2 at a starting price of Rs 86,890. According to Dell, it weighs 1.025 kilogrammes. The Inspiron 13 (7391) 2-in-1 convertible laptop will also be available in the market from October 2 at a starting price of Rs 90,290. According to Dell, the convertible’s display hinge doubles as a dedicated garage for the touch stylus. The Inspiron 27 (7790) AIO desktop, which is an all-in-one desktop with a 27-inch display, will be available from September 24 at a starting price of 99,990.

Dell G3, Alienware m15

Dell has also refreshed two of its gaming laptops namely the Dell G3 and Alienware m15. The Dell G3 15 (3590) now sports a four-zone RGB backlit keyboard and a fingerprint scanner. Borrowing the older Alienware m15’s physical features, it ships with Dell’s proprietary Game Shift technology, which gives the laptop a short burst of improved performance, which, according to Dell, can come in handy while gaming. It also gets access to the Alienware Command Center app. The new Dell G3 15 (3590) is available in the market from September 24 at a starting price of Rs 70,990.

Now resembling the popular 17-inch Alienware Area 51m, the 2019 Alienware m15 comes with a 4K OLED display with HDR 400 Eyesafe technology and Tobii Eye Tracking. According to Dell, it also features an eight-phase voltage regulation system in its graphics card for improved performance along with a proprietary Alienware Cryo-Tech v3.0 cooling mechanism. The new Alienware m15 will be available in the market from September 24 at a starting price of Rs 1,88,490.

OnePlus 7T gets new all-red packaging

OnePlus smartphones have been shipping in a simple white box with red accents since the launch of the first model, the OnePlus One, in April 2014. But that's about to change, indicates a recent tweet sent by the company's Founder & CEO Pete Lau. The image attached in Lau's tweet suggests the upcoming OnePlus 7T will now come in a bright red box that represents “a return to the OnePlus One’s visual design”. The OnePlus 7T is scheduled to be launched in India on September 26 along with the much-awaited OnePlus TV.

Unlike previous OnePlus boxes, which announce the model name of the device packed inside in boldface, the new all-red box comes with a short paragraph written in black on its front face. “This is the OnePlus 7T,” it reads. “It's the culmination of all our design and engineering efforts, and crafted for those, who like us, always strive for the very best.” In addition, the model name of the phone inside is written on the sides of the box too. What's more, the new box appears longer than the previous ones.

— Pete Lau (@PeteLau) September 23, 2019

Set to succeed the outgoing OnePlus 7, the OnePlus 7T is expected to feature a 6.5-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. It is confirmed to get a 90Hz refresh rate. The handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset with up to 8GB of RAM. Internal storage is expected to go all the way up to 256GB. Like the current OnePLus 7, it will sport a hidden fingerprint scanner under its display. The battery is expected to be a slightly larger 3800mAh unit.

While the OnePlus 7 employs a dual camera setup on its back panel, the OnePlus 7T is expected to come with a triple rear camera setup. This should include a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, a 12MP telephoto sensor with an f/2.2  aperture, and a 16MP wide-angle sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The selfie camera is expected to be the same single 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. The notch in which it's housed, however, is expected to be slightly smaller this time around.
