Netflix looking at acquiring Scanline VFX, the studio behind Stranger Things and MCU special effects

Netflix clearly isn’t satisfied with being one of the biggest OTT services out there and are now looking at jumping into the world of VFX. The streaming giant is looking at acquiring Scanline VFX. The VFX studio is based out of Munich and should be absorbed by Netflix sometime in early 2022. As reported by Tech Crunch, the studio has worked on hit shows such as Stranger Things and the rather disappointing Cowboy Bebop. Scanline was founded in 1989 and is now led by Stephan Trojansky, an award-winning special effects veteran. 

In a blog post, Netflix VP of Studio Operations Amy Reinhard stated, “Netflix will invest in Scanline’s pipeline, infrastructure and workforce and continue to support the pioneering work that Scanline’s Eyeline Studios is doing in virtual production to push the boundaries of what is visibly possible.” She continued by stating, “We’ll also continue to rely on many other studios around the world for our VFX needs so we can continue to ensure that our creators have access to the world's most innovative tech, and continue to bring the most compelling and cutting-edge storytelling to our members.”

So, we’re assuming that Scanline will be used to bolster the streaming service in terms of quality VFX on their exclusive shows. Scanline has also worked on shows and films like Godzilla vs Kong, Game of Thrones as well as The Justice League. Netflix has also acquired Alburquerque Studios and is looking at investing a billion dollars into growing the studio. Netflix is also looking at taking a dip into the world of games with the acquisition of Night School Studios earlier this year.

Noise X-Fit 1 unveiled, will be available at a special launch price of Rs 2,999

Noise has unveiled a new wearable. Called the Noise X-Fit 1, the wearable is the newest entrant in the ever-expanding roster of wearable devices in India. The Noise X-Fit 1 is available on Amazon and as per the listing, the MRP of the device is Rs 5,999. However, the wearable will be available at Rs 2,999 at a “special launch price.” The device will be available from November 26 onwards.

Noise X-Fit 1: Details

The Noise X-Fit 1 packs a 1.53-inch IPS display with a screen-to-body ratio of 86% along with a resolution of 360x400p. It offers over 100 watch faces, allowing users to swap one out when they feel like it. 

The device has a weight of 30 grams and features a metal finish. It offers 24x7 heart monitoring and can track SpO2 levels as well. It can also track sleep. The Noise X-Fit 1 can track stress levels and can offer 15 sports modes. In terms of smart features, it offers quick reply features and smart DND features. The Noise X-Fit 1 sports a 210mAh battery and the company claims a battery life of 10 days. The device also offers IP68 certification for water resistance. 

Things are heating up in the sub-5K market when it comes to wearables. Noise is no stranger to releasing devices in that price range and already offer a number of wearables in that price range. However, they are not alone in that endeavour. Other manufacturers such as Fire-Boltt, Boat, Crossbeat, Xiaomi, Oppo, and more also offer competitive devices in that price range. As such, these companies are always on the lookout for ways to stand out from the crowd. However, as these devices are usually purchased by first-time users, manufacturers need to look beyond just adding more fitness features and consider bringing e-SIM features to more affordable devices.

OnePlus 9RT to launch as OnePlus RT in India with up to 12GB RAM

The upcoming OnePlus 9RT smartphone will most likely launch the OnePlus RT in India. The information comes courtesy of the known tipster Mukul Sharma who confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 9RT is listed on Google Play Listing and Google Supported Devices list. 

However, the listing suggests that the OnePlus 9RT will likely launch as the rebranded OnePlus RT. The same OnePlus device with the model number OP5154L1 also received a BIS certification recently, according to the official website.

The rebranded OnePlus 9RT comes with a flagship-level Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The latest OnePlus smartphone will also have up to 7GB of Virtual RAM boost allowing it to have 19GB of maximum RAM. 

For improved cooling, the upcoming renamed OnePlus 9RT will feature a large vapour chamber thus keeping the smartphone temperature low during fast charging and heavy gameplay. 

In terms of optics, the upcoming OnePlus RT will come equipped with a 50MP primary sensor, a 16MP secondary lens with an f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor along with a 2MP macro lens for taking super close shots of objects. 

Other important OnePlus 9RT specs include a 6.62-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display featuring an in-display fingerprint sensor. Powering the upcoming OnePlus smartphone is a 4,500 mAh battery with up to 65W fast charging support and a host of connectivity options including 5G, Wi-Fi 6, 4G LTE, NFC, etc.

The OnePlus 9RT or OnePlus RT will have a starting range of Rs 39,999 with its top-end model costing up to Rs 44,000.

Meaning

FUD

Short for Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt, FUD is a term used to indicate that people are spreading false information about a coin to decrease its value. The people who spread such information are known as FUDDERS and their goal is to get people to sell their coins quickly so that the value of the currency drops. 

HODL

What started out as a typo for ‘Hold’ is now a legit term used to describe an investment strategy. It means that you are holding onto a currency even after the value decreases, in the hopes that it will shoot up again. This is a popular investment strategy also used amongst stock market investors. 

Pump and Dump

This refers to a strategy used by market manipulators - the goal is to get people to invest in a coin by hyping it up, and then manipulating the currency once it has enough investors. 

Mooning/ To the Moon

This means that a currency has hit its peak value and is going off the charts. It can be used when a currency crosses over a 100% increase in value in a short time.

Whale

A whale is an adjective used to describe investors who hold a large amount of a specific currency. There isn’t a set number, and it can vary from one currency to the next. However, when it comes to Bitcoin, anyone who holds at least a 1000 coins is considered a whale. 

Shiling

Shilling is a very commonly used term even outside the crypto community. It refers to the practice of hyping up a commodity/entity with the hopes of gaining large scale support. It leverages implicit advertising strategies, with credible personalities backing up coins in public while creating the notion that they haven’t been made to promote it. 

Sats/Satoshis

Named after Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym of the inventor of Bitcoin, Sats is the smallest fraction of Bitcoin that can be sent. 1 Sat = 0.00000001 of a Bitcoin. 1 Bitcoin = 100,000,000 satoshis.

Paper Hands

This term is used to describe investors with a low risk profile. Typically, such investors cannot tolerate market volatility and sell coins at the first sign of trouble.

Bagholders

This term is an adjective used to describe someone holding a large amount of a specific coin irrespective of its value. Bagholders believe that the value of their coins will rise someday, or are unaware of the price drops in the market. 

OCD / Obsessive Cryptocurrency Disorder

This term is used to describe investors who become obsessed with their coin’s performance.

Android users may see enhanced iMessage reactions with this new Google update

iPhone users have their own messaging interface known as iMessages. Users can interact with each other via the same, as well as send messages to friends on Android. However, since Android does not support iMessage, the texts are received as SMSs, and follow the same protocol and format as carrier messages. Now, according to GSM Arena, a new Google Messages update may change the way Android users receive messages sent via iMessage.

How will the new Google Update change iMessages?

The change is likely to occur at Android’s end, since the OS does not support the same formatting and features as iMessage. With the new Google update, users will be able to see iMessage reactions as emojis at their end. This was previously not possible, and should enhance the overall texting experience for most users. 

iMessage users can send a variety of reactions on the app to their friends using the same app. However, when reactions are sent to users on Android, they are automatically converted to either of the two texts - “Liked” or “I am doing great!”. This, of course, does not necessarily fit into each and every conversation seamlessly and can be rather jarring for those in the middle of a conversation.

The conversion of reactions to emojis should make the sender’s intent much clearer, making the overall texting experience better for both parties. 

Other Google Updates That May Come Along

GSM Arena also noticed a string of code that implies that Google will send reminders when a person’s birthday is coming closer (or on the day itself). This would work provided you’ve saved birthday details along with the contact information that one would normally save while creating a new contact on the phone.

Redmi Note 11T 5G trial conducted in partnership with Jio, 6nm chip confirmed

Redmi Note 11T 5G is all set to launch on November 30 and the company is heavily teasing the phone online across its social media handles. Redmi India has also conducted 5G trials with their upcoming Redmi Note 11T 5G where it was able to successfully demonstrate high-speed internet connectivity. The company has also confirmed that the Redmi Note 11T supports as many as seven 5G bands.

Xiaomi India MD, Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter and revealed that the Redmi Note 11T 5G is powered by a 6nm chipset but did not reveal the exact chipset powering the upcoming phone. However, this suggests that the phone could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chip which happens to be a 6nm SoC.

Additionally, there are rumours that the Redmi Note 11T 5G is based on the Redmi Note 11 5G which launched recently in China. Interestingly, the Redmi Note 11 5G is powered by the Dimensity 810 chip.

Redmi Note 11T 5G expected specifications

The Redmi Note 11T 5G features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ display with support for upto 90Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole notch cutout in the top centre. It measures 8.8mm in thickness and weighs 195 grams. It is also IP53 rated which makes it dust and splash-proof.

The Redmi Note 11T 5G is powered by the Dimensity 810 chip and is paired with upto 8GB RAM and 256GB storage options to choose from. It runs on MIUI 12.5 which is based on Android 11.

The Redmi Note 11T 5G has dual cameras on the back headlined by a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera.

There are stereo speakers on the phone and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The Redmi Note 11T 5G is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.
