Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 with Zombies Mode, new map and more now available: How to download and all you need to know

After weeks of teasing the update, Call of Duty: Mobile developers Tencent Games and TiMi Studios have finally started rolling out the Season 2 update for the game. COD: Mobile is undoubtedly is a fast-growing battle royale title for mobile devices and the update comes soon after the company announced that the game has been downloaded over 35 million times. This new update brings a host of new features for the game, including a long-awaited Zombies Mode, which is now available with two new game modes, a new map, a limited time new map, controller support and more. Here’s everything you need to know about the update, including how to download it.

How to download Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2

Downloading the new update is quite simple. If you use an Android phone, boot up the Google Play Store and search for Call of Duty: Mobile. Since the new update is available globally, it should be available with an option to update it. Similarly, iOS users can head over to the App Store and search for the game and update it. Booting up the game directly will also show a prompt to update the title to its latest version, redirecting you to the Play Store or App Store listing. Once updated, you will have access to all the new features in the game.

Call Of Duty: Mobile Season 2 Zombies mode

Zombies Mode is something the Call of Duty franchise is well-known for. There are multiple COD games for consoles and PC, which offer zombies mode alongside the standard narrative and online multiplayer. For COD: Mobile, this new mode entails facing a horde of zombies in two different modes. First, there’s Raid Mode that enables players to explore the classic Call of Duty: World at War zombies’ map Shi No Numa. This is a traditional point-based game mode that offers wall buys for weapons and locked doors. Here are the game mode objectives:

Two primary ways of earning points are to board windows and kill zombies  This is a round-based match with an 8-round limit for Normal difficulty On hardcore difficulty, it is a 12-round limit  On the final level on any difficulty, players need to fight against the boss zombie called Abomination  One can earn new exclusive loot from zombies every time they play  One can also explore above and below ground, and find clues as to why the lab was abandoned. We guess there’s more to this game mode.

The second one is the Endless Survival Mode, the mode is exactly how it sounds. In this mode, players face endless waves of zombies to test their skills and find out their best score. All the features from the Raid Mode will be available, except for the boss fight. There will be some unique weapons available for both modes that come infused with perks specific to that mode. “However, these weapons may not all be found on wall-buys, so if you cannot find a weapon turn to the mystery box,” says Activision.

Call Of Duty: Mobile controller support

Controller support is finally being made available for Call of Duty: Mobile. The game was missing it since it was launched and now players can pair DUALSHOCK4 PlayStation 4 and official Xbox One controller with their devices to play the title. Do not that the 1st gen versions of official PS4 controllers are not supported and supported ones will only work while in a match and not in game menus. One needs to enable controller settings in-game before syncing their wireless controller. Activision says players using controllers will be matched with other players who use controllers. However, if one of your team-members is using a controller, the entire team will be matched with people who are using controllers.

Call Of Duty: Mobile multiplayer and battle royale mode updates

Activision is also adding some new features to its existing multiplayer and battle royale modes with the new update. The biggest new addition is a new map called Summit. The new map will be available alongside a limited time winter-themed version of Raid that is coming this season. Additional modes that will be available are; One Shot, One Kill, Sticks and Stones, and Prop Hunt. You can find more details about these new modes in the complete patch notes below. Additionally, there are some new Operator Skill and Scorestreaks being introduced but they aren’t revealed yet.

In Battle Royale mode, new map areas are now available for players to explore like Circus themed and snowy areas. There are some map improvements and a new M16 rifle has been added to the map that uses 5.56mm rounds.

Call Of Duty: Mobile new login options

The new update also adds two new methods for signing into the game, apart from the already existing Facebook and Guest login. In case you have been using a guest account, you can now link it to Google Play or Game Center account to save progress and sync data. Additionally, it doesn’t pull any information over like your profile picture, unlike Facebook or Line. It should be noted that one will not be able to switch from an existing login method to this new method without losing user data.

Xiaomi to launch Mi Note 10 in India with 108MP penta camera setup: Report

Only earlier this month did Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi launch the Mi Note 10 smartphone globally at 549 euros (Rs 43,205 approx). And already, we're beginning to see signs of it coming to India. According to a recent report by 91mobiles, Xiaomi is currently planning to launch the Mi Note 10 in India. Unfortunately, the timeline of the launch is still unknown. Like the international version, the Mi Note 10 will come to India with a 108MP penta camera setup. Its price at the time of launch is expected to be around Rs 45,000.

The report says that Xiaomi's leaders are still planning the timeline for the Mi Note 10's India launch. It goes on to say that the company was originally supposed to launch the handset in December along with the Mi Mix Alpha but that plan has been scrapped. The Mi Mix Alpha, being something of a concept phone, will be sold in limited numbers when it goes on sale in the country. You can read more on the Mi Mix Alpha here.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 comes with a penta camera setup, which means there are five individual cameras stacked vertically on the device's back panel. The primary sensor in the stack is a 108MP unit with an aperture of f/1.69 and optical image stabilisation. The second sensor is a 12MP portrait unit with an aperture of f/2.0 and dual-pixel autofocus. The third is a 5MP telephoto sensor with 10x hybrid zoom. The fourth is a 20MP ultra-wide-angle unit with a field of vision of 117 degrees. The fifth and final sensor is a 2MP macro unit. On the front, there's a single 32MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset with up to 6GB of RAM. Internal storage space goes up to 128GB. The display is a 6.47-inch 3D curved AMOLED unit with a maximum resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and a claimed maximum brightness value of 600 nits. The display contains a fingerprint scanner underneath the surface and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The Mi Note 10 packs a 5260mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging using the bundled 30W charger. The handset will run the company's proprietary MIUI 11 software right out of the box.

Tesla Armor Glass on Cybertruck cracks under pressure, unlike Elon Musk

Tesla product unveilings have always consisted of two distinct elements on stage: a fancy new EV (because that's what Tesla makes) and Elon Musk (the man who runs the company). A combination of these two elements has always resulted in a spectacular show of speed and force, leaving the audience visibly impressed. Musk, who is something of a showman at such events, probably did not think something could go wrong when there's glass-breaking involved. But at the unveiling of Tesla's latest Cybertruck EV, it did.

When Musk unveiled the new Tesla Cybertruck a couple of days ago in Los Angeles, California, he wanted to demonstrate how impregnable the EV's outer structure (or ‘exoskeleton’) was. So, he had Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen beat the Cybertruck's front door with a sledgehammer, only to show that nothing had happened to it after impact. But when he had his companion hurl a steel ball at the Cybertruck's windows from less than a metre, the glass in both windows positively cracked.

The Cybertruck's windows probably weren't supposed to crack during that demo, given that they're made of ‘Tesla Armor Glass’, which is an “ultra-strong glass” with a “polymer-layered composite” that can “absorb and redirect impact force for improved performance and damage tolerance.” In fact, Musk's onstage assistants successfully demonstrated the glass' strength a few minutes before the Cybertruck demo by dropping the same steel ball on it from an estimated height of about six feet. What's more, Musk later tweeted a video in which the Cybertruck's window goes through a successful ball-smash test.

From the video posted by The Verge, we can tell Musk himself looked quite surprised the windows on the Cybertruck cracked. But instead of dwelling on the faux pas, he decided to look at the bright side of the failed experiment by saying words like, “on the plus side, it didn't go through” and “room for improvement”. Is Tesla's new glass camera-shy? Or was the demo unit fitted with regular glass? The internet is suddenly buzzing with theories like this one on what happened there. Whichever be the case, we feel Musk did a good job of covering his shock up on stage, unlike the Cybertruck's smashed windows.

Google pulls plug on Cloud Print, advises users to use native printing

If you've printed web pages and emails from Google Chrome, then there's a good chance you've come across the name Cloud Print. It's Google's cloud-based printing solution that has come bundled with Chrome for nearly a decade now. According to a recent support document published by Google, the California-based technology firm intends to kill support for Cloud Print by December 31, 2020. Google wants its users to find a different or native printing solution by then.

Cloud Print, which has so far been the default printing solution for Chromebook users on Chrome OS, was launched in 2010 in beta. Like the popular Hangouts-predecessor Google Talk, it never left beta, and soon, it will be phased out from Chrome without a stable release. “We recommend that over the next year, you identify an alternative solution and execute a migration strategy,” notes Google. This means users on Windows and Mac will have to start using the native print dialogue to print pages from Chrome.

What about printing on Chrome OS then? Well, Google has already implemented a UNIX-based native printing solution called CUPS, which also does duty on Chrome Enterprise. Before the end of the current year, it will add more enhancements to the same on Chrome OS. This native printing solution is “enabled through the Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS). CUPS uses an Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) that allows printing directly to a printer over the local network.” This will also work with printers connected via USB.

If you feel up to moving away from Cloud Print and towards native printing on your Chromebook—which you should start doing from now anyway—you can begin here. Google has a step-by-step guide to help you connect your printer to your Chromebook without using Cloud Print. Additionally, you can disable Cloud Print by following these steps. And if you're in the market for a new entry-level Chromebook, you can read our review of the recently launched HP Chromebook 14 here. It currently costs Rs 22,980 on Amazon.in.

OnePlus website yet again breached, says affected users might receive spam emails

In this day and age of connected systems and online transactions, cybersecurity is of paramount importance. Unfortunately, systems are designed by people and are prone to vulnerabilities and flaws. OnePlus has now disclosed a data breach incident, wherein it says some users' order information was “accessed by an unauthorized party.” This was disclosed in a blog post where OnePlus’ security team staff member Ziv C. posted the information. As per the company, breached information doesn’t include any payment information and passwords, and says that all the accounts are safe. However, names, contact info, email and shipping address ‘may’ have been revealed.

As for the effects of this data breach, OnePlus says affected users could receive phishing emails or get spammed as a result. However, it has not disclosed how many users were actually affected. “We took immediate steps to stop the intruder and reinforce security. Before making this public, we informed our impacted users by email. Right now, we are working with the relevant authorities to further investigate this incident,” OnePlus writes in its blog post. The company has apologised and says it has inspected its website for similar flaws and has sent out emails to all affected users. The weird bit is that the company has not disclosed any further details like what vulnerability led to information disclosure.

As mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first time OnePlus has suffered from a security incident. Back in January 2018, the smartphone manufacturer revealed that about 40,000 customers' credit card information was stolen from its website. This apparently happened due to a malicious script that was inserted on the company’s web pages. It is said to have read and sent sensitive financial data directly from a user’s browser.

While the credit card information leak was a big blow to the company’s security, it again slipped up with user’s data. In June this year, the company’s Shot On OnePlus app was found to have a flaw that was leaking email IDs of thousands of OnePlus smartphone users. OnePlus was reportedly using an API to connect its server with the Shot on OnePlus app and the API was hosted on open.oneplus.net, which was said to be not secure. Anyone with an access token, which could be retrieved easily, could enter the server. You can read more about it here.
