Call of Duty: Mobile Season 1 new map, weapons, operator skills revealed, goes live on January 26

Call of Duty: Mobile is getting refreshed with Season 1 set to release on January 26. With less than a day to go for the much-awaited update, the developers have now revealed some key additions that will be coming with the Season 1 refresh, including new weapons, modes and an original multiplayer map. Activision has already revealed that the COD: Mobile Season 13 will be followed by Season 1: New Order.

According to multiple posts by the official COD: Mobile social handles, the upcoming season refresh brings a new map which is called Reclaim. Previously, the developers have stated that this is a new and original map to the COD universe and will see players fight through the remains of a shopping district that has been left abandoned likely after a hazardous event. The developers have also revealed that FR .556 (FAMAS) assault rifle and SKS Marksman rifle will be added to the arsenal with the new update.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 1

The devs have revealed a new multiplayer map that will be added with the Season 1 New Order, and it is called Reclaim. “An outdoor mall once bustling with holiday activity is now vacant and abandoned, surrounded by blockades and biohazard tents,” the devs say on the setting of the new map.

Essentially, Reclaim is a medium-sized map featuring an abandoned mall and a walkway with shops in the centre. The new map has several access points along the ground and the upper floor but there are no large open areas that snipers can keep an eye on for a long time.

“Reclaim discourages sticking to one location for any prolonged period of time. Any point on the map can be quickly accessed from multiple angles, so once you’ve made your presence known, it’s likely time to move on to the next spot,” the devs say.

The ground floor offers a lot of cover due to the presence of shops and players can take advantage of planning a surprise attack. As for the upper floor, it provides a vantage point to players and has small pathways which means it will be the hot-bed of most close-quarter combats with players ambushing the other team.

The FR .556 is recommended for long-range and medium-to-long-range as it provides punchy burst fire while SKS is said to dominate long-range fights and has a high rate of fire than usual sniper rifles.

Tom Holland Plays A Volatile Junkie In Cherry Trailer

Apple TV+ has released the first official trailer for the Russo brothers’ much-anticipated, upcoming crime drama film - Cherry. Debuting just two days after revealing a teaser on Twitter, the bleak trailer pits Tom Holland and Ciara Bravo in the midst of the American opioid epidemic. Cherry is set to release in selected theatres on 26 February 2021, before hitting Apple's streaming service on 12 March 2021.

Set in the peaceful city of Cleveland in Ohio, the gritty trailer opens up in a quite abrupt manner, as we see a 23-year-old, inexperienced and nervous Nico Walker (Tom Holland) attempting to rob a bank in the middle of the day, using a $1 note for silenced, secretive exchange. As he contemplates his disastrous life choices, we are pulled back in time to the good old carefree days, where we see a young and lanky collegiate, enjoying life and pursuing his love interest, Emily (Ciara Bravo). Unable to find his place in the world, he soon drops out of college and enlists in the Army, not realising that he’s making the biggest mistake of his life. The trailer soon spirals into a montage, jumping between romance, ear-ringing explosions and gunfights in the Iraqi battlefields, to uncontrollable substance abuse, as he tries coming to terms with the horrors of war. As the youthful Army medic struggles with opioid addiction and undiagnosed PTSD, he gets miserable and turns to a life of crime. He says, “I don’t imagine that anyone goes in for a robbery if they’re not in some kind of desperation.” The Russo brothers’ direction also seems to have brought back the long lost charm and humour of Tom Holland, as he makes an untimely yet lighthearted joke about being rude to women. Towards the end of the trailer, we are treated to some more short bursts of clips, looking back at the highs and lows of his drastically emotional and character-driven life.

Directed by the Russo brothers, Cherry is an upcoming crime drama movie based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Nico Walker. The story follows a young ex-veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, who becomes a serial bank robber after an addiction to drugs puts him in debt. The book received an immense amount of praise upon publication, following which, the well-known directors acquired movie rights for the same, at the cost of $1 million, beating out offers from Warner Bros. Pictures and Sony. Adding onto the aforementioned duo, the film also stars Kelli Berglund, Thomas Lennon, Jack Reynor, Michael Gandolfini, Forrest Goodluck, and Jeff Wahlberg.

Earlier this month, we had reported on some set images from another Tom Holland starring film - Uncharted. The movie is set to be a prequel to the game franchise, serving as an origin story for Nathan Drake. You can read more on that here.

Resident Evil 4: Remake Development Plan Gets Major Overhaul

Capcom’s long-rumoured remake of Resident Evil 4 has reportedly hit a minor speed bump, owing to some internal disagreements over creative direction. The game will now see a partial developmental reboot, and is slated for a potential 2023 release.

Sources: Capcom has overhauled its plans for a Resident Evil 4 remake, people with knowledge of its plans have told VGC. ➡️ https://t.co/kkas2uKTgm pic.twitter.com/GnaMIsnxct

— VGC (@VGC_News) January 22, 2021

The news comes from a VGC report, which states that Tatsuya Minami's M-Two, the studio previously involved in creating Resident Evil 3 Remake, will no longer be in charge of the following iteration. And will instead be largely taken over by Capcom's Division 1. “New studio M-Two has seen its role significantly reduced on the unannounced project,” it reads “and mainline Resident Evil studio Capcom Division 1 has been brought in to lead a new direction.” This change in leadership stems from an internal dispute where M-Two wanted to remain faithful and create a shot-by-shot recreation of the original Resident Evil 4. Partly fueled by the backlash they received over RE3's remake, which did not include significant portions of the original PlayStation game. Capcom, on the other hand, intends to take a direction that is more or less inspired by the original, but with its own unique take on story elements and features. Similar to Resident Evil 2 remake’s use of the Tyrant T-00 aka Mr X.

Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror, third-person-shooter game published by Capcom, and is the sixth major instalment in the franchise. The game puts you in the shoes of an American Federal Agent - Leon S Kennedy, who is on a mission to rescue the US president’s daughter, from the clutches of a parasite-worshipping sinister cult. Selling a total of 10.4 million copies across several platforms, RE4 is Capcom’s highest-rated game of all-time.

A remake of the same has been in development since 2018 and was originally scheduled for a 2022 release slate. But now that the teams have undergone a huge makeover, the process has been rebooted, thereby delaying the game a year further, to 2023.

A couple of days ago, a Capcom held online event had shown off tons of gameplay for their much-anticipated Resident Evil Village, set to launch on 7 May 2021. You can read more on that here. Towards the end of the event, they also announced “Maiden” - a fully-playable demo for Resident Evil 8, which is now available on the PlayStation 5.
