In an 8-second video posted on Chinese social media platform Weibo, a silhouette of the phone is seen highlighting the 32MP front camera, which is likely to be fitted in a waterdrop notch. Previous leaks have also suggested a waterdrop notch on the rumoured P30 Lite flagship. No other information is provided in the video. Previous leaks have suggested that the Huawei P30 phones have been codenamed after fashion brands — Elle, Vogue and Marie Claire, and the Marie Claire seems to be the Huawei P30 Lite with model number MAR-LX1M. The phone surfaced via the handset’s User Agent (UA) profile available on Huawei’s website. The UA profile information reveals that the Huawei P30 Lite's display will offer a resolution of 1080x2312 pixels indicating a FullHD+ display. The smartphone is likely to run Android 9 Pie out of the box with the latest EMUI 9.0, which debuted with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro last year. Lava Z40 is an Android 81 Oreo Go Edition phone with 1GB RAM priced at Rs 3,499

Highlights: Lava Z40 launched at Rs 3,499. It is an Android Oreo (Go Edition) device that ships with 1GB RAM. The phone will be available via Flipkart.    Lava has launched its latest Lava Z40 smartphone, which is an Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) device. Being an Android Go device, it is not a surprise that the handset doesn’t come equipped with powerful hardware. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, which is coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There is also support for storage expansion up to 64GB via microSD card. The handset features a 4-inch HD display with a 400x800 pixel resolution and comes with dual 4G VoLTE SIM support. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass but the company has not detailed which version it is. The phone sports a 2MP main rear camera setup that is supplemented with an LED flash. It also gets a 2MP sensor on the front. The Lava Z40 is backed by a 2250mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver more than one day of usage.  The new handset comes after the phone maker unveiled its Lava Z60S smartphone in India that was also an Android Oreo (Go Edition) device. The phone was launched in August last year, which was a successor to the previously launched Z60. The Z60S runs on a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and comes equipped with a 5-inch HD IPS display. It runs on Google's lightweight Android Oreo (Go Edition) OS.  As all Android Go Edition devices, the two aforementioned Lava phones come preloaded with Google Go apps like Maps Go, YouTube Go, Files Go, which are stripped down versions of their full-fledged counterparts. These apps are designed to take up less space and are optimised for working in areas with patch network connectivity.  Related Reads:  Lava Z60s with 5-inch HD IPS display, Android Oreo (Go Edition) launched at Rs 4,949

HTC may license its brand out to Indian smartphone makers: Report

Highlights: HTC may return to Indian market It is reportedly holding talks with Lava, Micromax and Karbonn mobile Lava and Karbonn may jointly submit a bid to get HTC license   Last year, HTC wrapped up its smartphone business from India, but now a report in The Economic Times has claimed that the Taiwanese smartphone brand may return to the Indian market with a new business strategy. Citing three industry experts, the report says that HTC is in talks with homegrown players Micromax, Lava and Karbonn to return to the country, and may earn a chunk of the pie, which is primarily shared by Chinese tech giants like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo. The report says that HTC will earn royalty in return. The company now sells a few old models it had launched last year on e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. One of the executives claimed that the discussions with the three Indian brands are in advanced stages, including the possibility of Lava and Karbonn teaming up to bid for the HTC brand licence. Under the deal, HTC may license its brand for smartphones, mobile accessories and tablets. One of the executives said that the association with HTC will help the Indian brands help both parties run in the Indian market. “Since HTC used to operate in the Rs 10,000-plus segment, the brand will help the Indian smartphone makers re-enter this price segment, which is now the fastest-growing with intense competition among Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo and Vivo,” one of the executives was quoted as saying. Citing an HTC spokesperson, The Economic Times reports that the company is looking at strategic options for Indian market. “We will have more to announce at a later date,” the person was quoted as saying. However, these Indian brands may face challenges to regain some market share because their hardware or software R&D capabilities are limited. “The Rs 10,000-plus smartphone market is no more just about specification like earlier, but also about innovation,” an executive said. According to Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi and Samsung led the market with 28 percent and 24 percent share in the calendar year 2018. They were followed by Vivo, Oppo and Micromax on third, fourth and fifth spots, with 10 percent, 8 percent and 5 percent share respectively. Lava and Karbonn were among the remaining brands that captured the 25 percent of the total market share in 2018. Related Read: 41 smartphone brands exit, 15 entered India in 2018: Report

It is listed running Android 9 Pie.  Xiaomi recently launched its Redmi Note 7 series of phones in India and is expected to launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro in China on March 18. However, the company is speculated to also introduce the Redmi 7 series of handsets soon, since the Xiaomi Redmi 7 has appeared in a TENAA listing. As per the listing, the Redmi 7 has the model number M1810F6LE and comes with a 6.26-inch TFT HD+ display with a 1520 × 720p resolution. It is said to measure 158.6mm x 76.4mm x 8.9mm, weight 180g and come equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
