Motorola P40 Power renders reveal punch-hole display, triple rear-camera setup

Highlights: Renders of Motorola P40 Power leaked online.  The smartphone is seen featuring a triple rear camera setup and a punch hole display design. Initially, the phone was considered to be the Motorola G8. Motorola announced its P30 Power smartphone in September last year and is expected to soon launch a follow up to the phone. While there's no official confirmation of the device's existence, a new video render of it has surfaced online, courtesy of @OnLeaks. It reveals the upcoming device’s design, its external features and some info of its internal components. First off, the phone was said to be the successor to Motorola's G series of handsets and was said to be called the Moto G8. However, @OnLeaks says that it might as well be the Motorola P40 Pro, which could also be called the P40 Note.  The device’s renders suggest that the upcoming Motorola smartphone would feature a triple rear-camera setup. This could very well be the case since an upgrade to the phone could entail an updated camera setup. Additionally, the smartphone manufacturer might also integrate a punch hole display on the phone. Which means there will not be a notch but the front camera will be housed in a cut out on the display. The tipster also says that the phone will sport a 6.2-inch display with possibly HD+ resolution. The device is seen with a thin chin that features the Motorola branding. Here comes your very first look at #Motorola first triple camera phone which I guess will be launched as the #MotoG7 successor and thus, as the #MotoG8 (TBC). 360° video + gorgeous 5K renders + dimensions + few specs, on behalf of my Friends @Pricebaba -> https://t.co/OUmlkuUxEQ pic.twitter.com/Nwc2vwaimO — Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks) April 1, 2019 The smartphone is said to measure 160.1 x 71.2 x 9.1mm and is seen with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The rear cameras on the phone are said to come with 12MP sensors with a dual-LED flash below. The volume and power button can be seen on the handset’s right edge, while its SIM card tray is placed along its left spine. It sports a USB Type-C port on the bottom, along with the loudspeaker grill and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the phone’s top edge. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of the phone’s specifications.  Related Reads: Moto G7 and Motorola One launched in India

MG Motor unveils iSMART Next Gen for upcoming MG Hector, an internet-based connectivity solution

Highlights: MG Motor unveils iSMART Next Gen for the upcoming MG Hector The internet-based solution lets the user use in-built apps in the car It also comes with a customer support service called Pulse Hub   MG Motor’s entry into India with the MG Hector as its first model is the talk of the town amongst many motoring enthusiasts. In a move sure to boost the car’s hype a month or so before its launch, MG Motor unveiled today in New Delhi the iSMART Next Gen, an inbuilt connectivity and infotainment solution. Expected to debut in the upcoming MG Hector, the solution allows the user to use numerous internet-based features in the car using the car’s 10.4-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen display and its proprietary voice assist system, which is activated by saying “Hello MG”. The iSMART Next Gen Integrated Solution uses an embedded M2M (machine to machine) SIM card inside powered by Airtel, which lets the user download or stream content on the car’s inbuilt apps such as Gaana (for music), AccuWeather (for weather data), and TomTom (for navigation), said Gaurav Gupta, MG Motor India’s Chief Commercial Officer to Digit.in in a private interview. The integrated solution bundled with the MG Hector is Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPV6)-ready. The system will receive over-the-air updates, much like the way smartphones do. MG Motor also has a smartphone app on Android and iOS to control elements inside the car, like air conditioner and sunroof. “The integration of internet with cars opens up a gamut of features that can ensure a seamless and updated ownership experience for MG customers in India. With an embedded SIM card and OTA, the MG Hector promises to do a lot more over time with constantly-expanding capabilities, to create a seamless driving experience, throughout the life of the car,” commented Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director of MG Motor India. To supplement the iSMART Next Gen solution, MG Motor has set up a call centre service called Pulse Hub. Using the car’s display or voice control, an MG Hector user should be able to talk to an MG Motor customer assistant to get help while on the road. The solution can also be programmed to call for assistance in case of a road accident. To achieve all of this, MG Motor has tied up with numerous cloud-based solution partners, like Microsoft, Adobe, Cognizant, Unlimit, SAP, Cisco, Nuance, and others. We should be able to get a taste of what the iSMART Next Gen solution can do in real life when it makes its debut in the much-awaited MG Hector, which should be launched in about a month’s time.   Related Read: MG Hector to come with TomTom and Gaana apps preloaded MG Hector SUV spied with Hybrid badge

Three Pixel phone issues have also been resolved.   Google has released the Android Security patch for the month of April and according to the latest Android Security Bulletin, a total of 11 issues with vulnerabilities ranging from high to critical have been resolved. These issues were distributed among general framework, media framework and system sub-heads. According to Pixel Security Bulletin, the update brings improvements for Pixel 3 in three areas, and one for the original Pixel device. The issues related to Pixel 3 are in Assistant, Setup and Display wherein Google has improved the voice-unlocking performance of the Google Assistant, adjusted Wi-Fi connectivity during eSIM activation on certain carriers and removed screen flash when ambient display (commonly known as Always on Display, or AOD), respectively. The improvement for Pixel device was in Bluetooth connectivity. The latest security patch address all issues associated with the 2019-04-05 security patch level and all previous patch levels. The updates come at a time when Google released its Android Security and Privacy 2018 Year In Review, claiming that the overall health of Android ecosystem has improved as compared to last year. Google claimed that in the fourth quarter of 2018, 84 percent more devices received a security update as compared to the devices in the same quarter last year. The company said that as of December 2018, over 95 percent of deployed Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices were running a security update from the last 90 days. Google mitigates security vulnerabilities discovered internally, through the Android Security Rewards programme  as well as additional engagements through regular Android security updates. The company said that last year, it worked with Android device manufacturers, mobile network operators, and system-on-chip (SOC) vendors to increase the number of devices receiving regular security updates.
