Unidentified Motorola phone with four rear cameras leaks

Highlights:
Unidentified Motorola phone with rear Quad camera leaked in renders. The phone is seen having a waterdrop notch. It is speculated that the phone will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Whether it’s the launch of the G7-Series or the 5G Moto Mod, Motorola has been making a lot of headlines lately. While we are bombarded with the leaks of the Motorola One Vision, renders of an unidentified Moto phone have come up showing a quad-camera setup on the back. If true, this could become the second phone after the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) to sport four cameras on the back panel.

While there is not much known about the phone, renders detail what the phone will offer. Starting from the display, the Moto phone is seen having a waterdrop notch like we have already seen in the Moto G7. It has been claimed that the display will measure 6.2-inch and comes with a thick chin. The power button and the volume rocker are on the right edge. The headphone jack and a USB Type-C port are placed on the bottom edge.

Since the renders do not show any physical fingerprint sensor on the body, it is assumed that the phone will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The SIM tray and the speaker module is seen on the top edge. The renders, shared by OnLeaks, do not show a glass back but a metal finish. There is a squircle module that houses four cameras and the famous batwing logo just below the quad camera setup. The LED is on the left side of the protruding module.

The phone is seen having a 48MP marking, which suggests that Motorola will be one of the companies who have already jumped into the fray of incorporating the 48MP sensor. The dimensions are said to be approximately 158.7 x 75 x 8.8mm. Other details, including specs and prices about the phone are not known yet.

There is another Motorola phone, called the Motorola One Vision, that is being leaked on regular basis. The Motorola One Vision is likely to launch under the Android One programme. The display is said to be 6.2-inch with a punch-hole in the top left corner. It is reported to be available in 3/4GB RAM models with 32/64/128GB of storage, and speculated to come with a 3,500mAh battery. Under the hood, the phone is said to have Samsung Exynos 9610 SoC under the hood.

Related Read:

Motorola P40 Power renders reveal punch-hole display, triple rear-camera setup

Redmi Pro 2 with pop-up front camera, 48MP triple main camera leaked in an image

Highlights:
Redmi’s upcoming flagship phone with Snapdragon 855 leaked in an image. The handset could be called the Redmi Pro 2. It is speculated to feature a pop-up front camera with a 48MP main sensor.
The only official information out about Redmi’s upcoming flagship handset is that it will run on the Snapdragon 855 SoC and will priced at RMB 2,500 (Rs 26,000 approx). Unofficially, leaks and reports about the company’s first flagship phone have been leaking out and we recently came across an image where a couple of phones were spotted behind the Redmi CEO Lei Jun and were speculated to be the company’s upcoming flagship phone that features a notch-less, near bezel-less display and a pop-up camera. Now, a leaked image of the phone via a Weibo post might have given us the first look at the Redmi phone, which might apparently be named the Redmi Pro2.

As you can observe from the image below, the Redmi Pro2 is seen featuring an almost bezel-less display. There are thin bezels on the side and the top but the chin is still prominently visible. As a pop-up camera can be seen on the phone’s top edge, there’s neither a notch nor a punch-hole display design. Additionally, some information about the phone is also revealed via the image and alongside the mention of Snapdragon 855, the handset is said to come equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor, which will be a first for Redmi if true. It’s not known if it will be a standard optical or an ultrasonic sensor.

The phone might also be equipped with a triple rear camera setup, which will also be a first for the company, if true. The primary camera on the Redmi Pro2 is touted to be a 48MP sensor and since it’s a flagship, we expect the company to employ the Sony IMX 586 sensor over the Samsung GM1. Additionally, the new leaked image is in line with the previously leaked image as one of the phones on the table behind Lei Jun also featured a gradient purple-red gradient colour on the top edge.

Related Reads:

Redmi smartphone powered by Snapdragon 855 spotted with Xiaomi CEO Lei jun

Highlights:
Hyundai to unveil BlueLink tech for future models It has features similar to MG Motor's iSMART Next Gen BlueLink to be featured first on upcoming Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV

Just a couple of days ago, MG Motor unveiled iSMART Next Gen in India, an internet-based connectivity solution for its upcoming car, the MG Hector. In what seems like a move very similar to this, Hyundai India has sent out media invites for a demonstration of its own car connectivity solution, Hyundai BlueLink. The demonstration is scheduled to happen on April 9 in Faridabad. Hyundai’s BlueLink tech is expected to debut in India on the upcoming Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV.

Introduced globally in 2012, Hyundai BlueLink can be described as a connected vehicle system with embedded telematics. It delivers information about the connected car such as monthly vehicle reports and car crash alerts on the owner’s smartphone. It’s also capable of controlling some of the car’s features remotely. For example, the user should be able to turn the car’s air conditioner on remotely using their smartphone minutes before getting in. The version introduced in India is reported to have India-specific features, including a Vodafone Idea-powered eSIM for connecting to the internet.

From a recent report by The Hindu, we learn that the BlueLink technology will also enable a driver to speak to their car. “BlueLink is Hyundai’s global technology which will be introduced in the Indian market with 33 features, of which 10 would be India-specific features such as a panic button, for most practical and holistic connectivity,” said Ji Hong Baek, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Engineering, to The Hindu. Hyundai plans to introduce BlueLink on the Venue and include it in future cars in India.

From what we’ve learnt so far, the Venue is a subcompact SUV from Hyundai that will sit in the market along with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, and Tata Nexon. According to numerous reports, Hyundai will launch the Venue on May 21. The car is expected to come with petrol and diesel engine options (both 1.4 litres). The gearbox options will include a manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. We should get a better idea about Hyundai BlueLink when it’s demonstrated next week.

Related Read: MG Motor unveils iSMART Next Gen for upcoming MG Hector, an internet-based connectivity solution

Android Q Beta 2 sees Google prepare for foldable phones, brings Bubbles for multi-tasking

Highlights:
Android Q Beta 2 brings Foldable Emulator to help development apps for foldable phones. With Android Q, people will be able to use Bubbles for multi-tasking. Pixel phones may also get Pixel Themes to let users change colours, fonts and icon shapes.
Google has rolled out the Beta 2 of Android Q and among under the hood tweaks and other features, it has brought the foldable emulator and Bubbles for multi-tasking. The foldable emulator will let developers make games and apps for the upcoming wave of foldable devices, and Bubbles are aimed to ease the multitasking. Building on Beta 1 and to generate broader feedback, Google has also enabled Scoped Storage for new app installs in Beta 2. This will help developers and testers to easily see what is affected.
Foldable Emulator

With the launch of Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X, and plans of several smartphone-makers to bring foldable handsets, the ecosystem of such devices is now speculated to increase. With this, new use-cases will open up for the apps to take advantage of these large screens. Google says that with Beta 2, developers can now build for apps for foldable devices through Android Q enhanced platform support.

The foldable device emulator is available as an Android Virtual device in Android Studio 3.5 in the canary release channel. It will also let the developers see how the ‘resizeableActivity’ manifest attribute works that will help them manage how their app is displayed on foldable and large screens. In each configuration, the emulator gives developers on-screen controls to trigger fold/unfold, change orientation, and quick actions.
Bubbles

Bubbles look like the floating circles that you must have seen with the Facebook Messenger. Google is now bringing these bubbles to the Android Q and users will now be able to multi-task with just a tap on the bubble. It is not clear if all the Android apps will have this support, but every G-Suite apps are likely to get this function. Google says that this will help make interactions consistent, safeguard user privacy, reduce development time, and drive innovation.

“Bubbles are great for messaging because they let users keep important conversations within easy reach. They also provide a convenient view over ongoing tasks and updates, like phone calls or arrival times. They can provide quick access to portable UI like notes or translations, and can be visual reminders of tasks too,” Google says in a blog post.

Meanwhile, XDADevelopers have found “Pixel Themes” that will let the Pixel owners change the accent colours, icon shapes and even the fonts. There are three custom themes, which are code-named “Anthony,” “Johanna,” and “Reiko,” apart from the regular theme. “Anthony” changes the accent colours to Black, font to Rubik and the shape of the icon to Squircle. Johanna turns the accents into Green, font to Arvo and Lato, and Filled icons, which are basically square with little bend on the corners. The third is Reiko, which turns paints accents into Purple colour, brings Arbutus font, and gives a Teardrop-shaped icon.

Related Read:

Overall Android ecosystem health improved compared to last year: Google

Huawei P30 Pro, P30 Lite India launch scheduled for April 9

Highlights
Huawei P30 Pro and P30 Lite launching in India on April 9. Huawei P30 Pro periscope lens for 5x optical zoom. Huawei P30 Light runs on the Kirin 710 chipset.

Huawei launched the Huawei P30 Pro and P30 smartphones in Paris on March 26th, with no word on when the devices would come to India. Now, the company has sent out media invites for the launch event for the Huawei P30 Pro and the P30 Lite, with the launch date mentioned at April 9.

We managed to get a first look at the Huawei P30 Pro at its launch in Paris, which you can read about in our coverage from the event. The Huawei P30 Pro is powered by the Kirin 980 processor and comes with 8GB of RAM. Storage varies between 128, 256 and 512GB, and can be further expanded by the use of Huawei’s proprietary Nano-Memory Card. It features a 6.47-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080x2340, pegging its pixel density at 398ppi. The display supports the DCI-P3 colour space, meaning, it is capable of HDR video playback, pending support from streaming services. The real highlight of the P30 Pro, however, continues to bring crazy camera innovations to the smartphone space. The primary camera continues to sport a 40-megapixel resolution packed into a 1/1.7 inch sensor, making it slightly bigger than the coveted Sony IMX 586 sensor. The sensor also uses a unique Pixel colour arrangement, ditching the classic RGBG pattern for an RYYB arrangement. Huawei told Digit in a media interaction that the sensor was manufactured by Sony but would remain exclusive to Huawei. The second and third sensors are standard RGBG sensors but offer a 17mm ultra-wide lens with AF and a 5x periscope telephoto lens. All three lenses are Leica made and both the wide and telephoto lenses come with optical image stabilization.

The Huawei P30 Lite is a more budget conscious smartphone in the P-series, sporting a 6.1inch IPS-LCD and being powered by the Kirin 710 processor. The camera setup isn’t Leica branded but still comes with 3 cameras, a 24MP primary camera with an f/1.8 lens, an ultra-wide 8MP camera and a 2MP depth sensor.

The phones will be launched in India on April 9, but there is currently no word on the pricing. The P30 Pro is priced at E999 for the base variant in Europe, but we do expect Huawei to price the phone lower for the Indian market. We also expect there to be a number of lucrative launch offers, just like was the case with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Huawei P20 Pro.

Related Read: Huawei P30 Series of smartphones will be available in India via Amazon

Google employee reveals Pixel 4 is undergoing testing

Highlights:
The Google Pixel 4 was once again spotted on AOSP Commits. The Pixel 4 is undergoing testing by Google developers. The device is expected to come with dual rear and front cameras.

The Google Pixel 4 that is expected to launch in the second half once again surfaced on commit changes spotted on AOSP (Android Open Source Project) Gerrit, giving yet another confirmation that the flagship is indeed going to launch this year. In February, the commit changes revealed the Google Pixel 4 might get improved dual-SIM capability. This time, the Pixel 4 was once again spotted on commit changes about an issue in the Linux kernel.

The new commit was first spotted by 9to5Google and was made by a Google employee on April 2. It talks about fixing “false positive KASAN warning on suspend/resume”. Essentially, that means an error in fixing bugs that gives false positives. KASAN stands for KernelAddressSanitizer and is a dynamic memory error detector that finds use-after-free and out-of-bound errors in the Linux kernel. The bugs that KASAN detects are onces that send an error report even when there’s no such issue in the first place.

About this kernel tool, the Google employee commented, “The plan was to first deploy this on Pixel 3 and make sure that everything actually works. Then move on to Pixel 4 and so on. If I had a Pixel 4 device, I probably wouldn’t have bothered with 4.9 in the first place.”

The above comment might only make sense to an Android developer and might not be of importance to the general public, but it does indicate that the Google Pixel 4 is under testing. Google employees are working on resolving bugs and issues with the device.

The Google Pixel 4 has surfaced online before as well. While the launch is still far away, an earlier AOSP commit had revealed the Pixel 4 will enable Dual SIM Dual Standby protocol and an alleged schematic of the Pixel 4 XL show a punch-hole design like the Samsung Galaxy S10, with uniform bezels around the edges. The schematic also revealed the Pixel 4 might come with dual cameras on both the front and back, which should be interesting to see. Furthermore, there could an in-display fingerprint sensor in the upcoming flagship.

Related Read:

Google Pixel 4 with Android Q could finally support Dual SIM Dual Standby

Google Pixel 4 XL could sport punch-hole for selfie camera
