Google Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL launched in India: Specs, price, launch offers and all you need to know

After numerous leaks, reports and even a Best Buy sighting, Google’s Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones are now official. While almost everything about the phones was leaked ahead of the unveiling, Google had plenty of new features and additional information to reveal about the two new handsets. As expected, the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are the company’s less expensive Pixel 3 handsets with which the company aims at creating a new ‘entry-premium’ segment. The new devices are said to feature imaging capability, security and battery backup similar to the flagship Pixel 3 phones. However, they are running on less-powerful processors and sport a comparatively less-premium build and design.

Google Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL specifications

Instead of glass, like the Pixel 3, both the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL sports a polycarbonate unibody build, which features a dual-tone design. The two phones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC and come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Similar to the original Pixel 3, the new handsets also come equipped with the Titan M security module.

The phones differ in their display as the Pixel 3a sports a 5.6-inch Full HD+ gOLED display with a 2220 x 1080p resolution, while the Pixel 3a XL gets a bigger 6-inch Full HD+ gOLED panel with a 2160 x 1080p resolution. The displays on both the phones are protected by Dragon Tail and support Always-On and the Now Playing features. The battery capacity on the two phones also varies as the Pixel 3a is backed by a 3000mAh cell that is touted to deliver up to 12 hours of video playback. On the other hand, the Pixel 3a XL runs on a 3700mAh battery that is touted to deliver up to 14 hours of video playback. The phones feature a USB Type-C port and support 18W fast charging.

The two phones also share the same optics. Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL feature a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 sensor on the rear, which is paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens. On the front is an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens and 84-degree field of view. The camera is touted to feature similar imaging prowess as the more expensive Google Pixel 3 smartphone and borrow some of its best features like Night Sight, Top Shot, Portrait Mode, Super Res Zoom, HDR+ capture and more.

The main camera on both phones are capable of recording 4K video at 30fps, 1080p video at 30fps, 60fps and 120fps, and 720p video at 30fps, 60fps and 240fps. The front camera can record 1080p videos at 30fps, 720p videos at 30fps and 480p videos at 30fps. The Active Edge feature to call up the Google Assistant by squeezing the sides of the phone is also present. The phones come equipped with stereo speakers, are single SIM phones with support for an e-SIM and run on the latest Android 9 Pie OS.

Additionally, eSIM on Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are now supported on Airtel and Reliance Jio, and are also available on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Google Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL price, availability and launch offers

The Google Pixel 3a is priced at Rs 39,999, while the Pixel 3a XL will be available for Rs 44,999 in India. The pre-orders are now open for the devices on Flipkart and they will go up for sale from May 15 via the online retailer.  Those who buy the Pixel 3a will get three months of YouTube Music Premium for free.

Google Pixel 3a XL vs Pixel 3 Camera Comparison: Identical twins split by price

The Pixel 3a and 3a XL have officially launched and barring a few features like the screen size and the battery, both the phones are quite similar. One of the highlights of the Pixel 3a and 3a XL is the cameras at the back. The smartphone sports the same 12.2MP dual-pixel camera found on the Pixel 3 and the front has an 8MP camera. To refresh your memory, the Pixel 3 had one of the best cameras on a smartphone in 2018 and it was only outmatched by the Huawei Mate 20 Pro (read our review here) in our tests. We also have an in-depth comparison between the Pixel 3a XL and other similarly-priced smartphones like the Honor View 20, Samsung Galaxy S10e, OnePlus 6T and more. But for today we compare the performance of the camera on the Pixel 3a XL with the Pixel 3.

Pixel 3A is finally here and of you missed the launch details, here’s what the Google pixel 3A is all about.

For those of you looking for the short story, the Pixel 3a XL and the Pixel 3 camera are almost at par. It is only pixel peepers that will notice the finer details and differences between the two. Having said that, there are some instances of indoor photography where the Pixel 3a XL showcased better contrast making the photos look punchier. However, in the same images, better details were retained on the images clicked with the Pixel 3.

Night Sight

Above: Shot on Pixel 3 (resized for web)

Above: Shot on Pixel 3a XL (resized for web)

In the samples above, you can see that the Pixel 3a XL and the Pixel 3, both do a great job of clicking the building in low lit conditions using the proprietary Night Sight capability. Viewed on our 27-inch 5K iMac, the images were almost identical when viewed in the “fit the screen” size. However, blow up the image to the “Actual Size” and you will notice that the Pixel 3 manages to retain more details. The greenery in the garden and details on the grill in some of the balconies prove that the Pixel 3 has a slight advantage over the Pixel 3a. In the dark sky, the Pixel 3a also exhibits a bit more noise when compared to the Pixel 3.

Indoor Daylight

Above: Shot on Pixel 3 (resized for web)

Above: Shot on Pixel 3a XL (resized for web)

This wall hanging has muted colours and is a great example of the smartphone’s camera’s ability to capture details. For this, we clicked the photos with both the smartphone's cameras keeping the HDR + off, then on and finally with the HDR+ enhanced mode. For this, we realized that with HDR+ the Pixel 3a produced better images with a higher level of saturation making the image more appealing to the eye. However, the colour accuracy and details when we look closely at the petals is better on the Pixel 3.

My Little Puppy

Above: Shot on Pixel 3 (resized for web)

Above: Shot on Pixel 3a XL (resized for web)

In this photo of my naughty Beagle, once again, the conclusion is what we have seen above. The Beagle (Milo), looks crisp and clear in the images clicked on both the phones. With HDR switched to auto, both the images look great. The Beagle has a more appealing image when clicked from the Pixel 3a XL. However, look at the green rim on the speaker in the background. Even though the focus in on the Beagle, the green rim on the speaker is a lot clearer when closely inspected on the image clicked with the Pixel 3. It retains more details. Once again, the image clicked from both the phones are visually rich with the Pixel 3 edging a little ahead in front with the details.

Selfie King

Above: Shot on Pixel 3 (resized for web)

Above: Shot on Pixel 3a XL (resized for web)

Let's jump to the front camera for a bit. Now, both the images look good but zoom into the beard and you will notice that there are more details on the image clicked with the Pixel 3. Especially below the lip, the Pixel 3a XL tends to soften the image to make it look more appealing. The Pixel 3a also added a touch of pink to my cheeks, something the Pixel 3 didn't do. The Pixel 3 retains a more natural colour along with details whereas the Pixel 3a XL softened the face and made the colours slightly cooler to make the image more appealing to the eye.

The Light In The Garden

Above: Shot on Pixel 3 (resized for web)

Above: Shot on Pixel 3a XL (resized for web)

The picture of the light in the garden was clicked in the night and as we have already spoken about night mode at the beginning of the article, let's take a look at the HDR+ enhanced performance of the camera in this scenario. In this image, the Pixel 3a XL is trying to make things sharper and because of this is losing out on some details. When looked on a small screen like a phone the image appears clean to the eye but pixel peeping highlights the loss in detail. The Pixel 3, on the other hand, has the better photo overall, true to source.

Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man

Above: Shot on Pixel 3 (resized for web)

Above: Shot on Pixel 3a XL (resized for web)

One look at the photo and everyone surrounding our big Mac pointed at the contrasty, saturated image clicked by the Pixel 3a XL and rightfully so. The image looks really good with deep blacks highlighting the web-slinger. However, if you look at the real figurine, you will see that the Pixel 3 tries to retain the true colours. The sofa in the background has pink petals on it which appear slightly red on the Pixel 3a XL and a little blurry when compared to the Pixel 3.

The Bokeh Effect

Above: Shot on Pixel 3 (resized for web)

Above: Shot on Pixel 3a XL (resized for web)

One of the highlights of the Pixel 3 was the ability to click good portrait photos without the use of a secondary depth-sensing camera. The same feature has been inherited by the Pixel 3a XL. In the photo clicked by the Pixel 3a XL, the image looks well saturated and lively. It even manages to eliminate the slight ray of light coming into the room from a nearby window creating a pixel-perfect image. However, in reality, the colour of the small vase looks more like it does in the image clicked with the Pixel 3. It may not be as appealing to the eye, but the colours are more accurate.

Does the Pixel 3a XL stand tall with the Pixel 3?

The short answer is yes. If a Pixel 3-like camera is more important to you, and you don't want to spend more, you can consider the Pixel 3a XL. The camera performance is at par. In fact, if you are a pixel peeper, then know that for indoor photos the Pixel 3a is a hair better than the Pixel 3. It is also better in producing oversaturated punchy images, something which has become a trend these days. However, if more details, true to source colours is what you are looking for, then the Pixel 3 is your weapon of choice. Either way, if a camera is important for you, you can't go wrong with either of the two devices. Stay tuned as we will bring you an in-depth comparison between the Pixel 3a XL and other flagship camera smartphones soon.

Google Pixel 3a: Who is it even for

The Indian smartphone market is witnessing a price war in which OEMs are trying to squeeze in the best hardware at minimal prices. Lately, the market has witnessed some cutting-edge advancements in smartphone photography and Google’s Pixel lineup of devices have been at the forefront of it.While most other smartphones are choosing the hardware route, with multi-camera stacks and sensors to make photos from a phone better, the Pixel phones have stuck with a single lens for three and a half generations now. Instead, they bank upon Google's volumes of research in artificial intelligence and machine learning to give results on par with them.

Last year, Google launched the Pixel 3 phones that are arguably one of the top camera phones which are available in the market right now. However, a price-sensitive Indian market has always been apprehensive of flagship devices which are now touching the Rs 65,000 price point. Research shows OnePlus is the present leader in the premium segment in India, after recording its highest ever shipments in a single quarter (Q4 2018) leading the premium smartphone segment for three successive quarters  With the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL, Google is seeking an opportunity to quench the tastes of buyers choosing not to go beyond Rs 50,000, armed with the same camera that it also sells at Rs 71,000 (presently the OG Pixel 3 is available at Rs 56,999 after discount on Flipkart). Google is calling the Pixel 3a and the larger Pixel 3a XL, as the entry-premium smartphones that are aimed at providing a set of select flagship features while overlooking some of them.

The Pixel 3a and 3a XL smartphones are priced at Rs 39,999 and Rs 44,999, respectively. Google is playing on its strong points and is offering the purest Android experience, and the camera module in these handsets is the same as the one it offered in its last year’s flagships. The company says that the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL will not only offer the same photography capabilities as the premium handsets, but also improve the battery, a pain-point which we also highlighted in our review.

There is an evident question, “Why should one buy this phone?” Below are some of the points that you might want to consider before shelling out a huge sum of money to buy that premium device. We have written this piece mentioning the Pixel 3a, which almost shares same features with the XL variant. Everything we write applies to the XL variant unless mentioned otherwise.

Design and Display

The Pixel 3a bears the same ergonomic design as the Pixel 3: the split rear panel design with camera module on the top left corner and a centrally-placed fingerprint sensor on a polycarbonate back shell. The Pixel 3, however, has a metal and glass back with a special frosting on it. On the front, the larger Pixel 3a XL has no notch, but the phone still carries the old design with thin bezels on the sides, and thick ones on the top and bottom.

When it comes to display, the Pixel 3a features a 5.6-inch gOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio (Pixel 3a XL has a 6-inch gOLED display with FHD+ resolution). We’ll explain more about the display in our detailed review in the days to come. The original Pixel 3 has a 5.5-inch pOLED display and the larger variant comes with a 6.1-inch pOLED panel. In a nutshell, you will have the same premium phone experience with the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL as you will with the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL, sans the notch. They also come with a 3.5mm audio jack.

Camera

The camera in both latest entry-premium phones is the same as offered in the original premium devices. On the back is a 12.2MP IMX 363 sensor with a 28mm wide lens having an aperture of 1.8. The 1/2.55inch sensor has a pixel size of 1.4µm and comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF). A Dual-LED flash accompanies the camera system. On the front is an 8MP sensor with a 28mm wide lens having an aperture of f/1.8. Unfortunately, there is no secondary ultra-wide selfie camera on these affordable devices. If one of your primary reasons to buy a Pixel 3 phone is the camera, you might want to consider one of these new devices that will surely save some bucks for you. Further, you can read our in-depth camera comparison between the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a here.

Performance

To make the device fit into your budget, Google has made a few compromises under the hood. Unlike the flagship phones which offer the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, the Pixel 3a ships with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 mobile platform. The RAM, however, remains the same 4GB in both the devices. As anticipated, we found the competitors performing way better than the Pixel 3a, however, when it comes to the the real world performance, the phone doesn't disappoint. To get a more in-depth knowledge of how this phone fares against the competition, you can read our detailed performance comparison here.

PS: The Pixel 3a has a 3000mAh battery whereas the Pixel 3a XL has a 3700mAh battery. Google promises that the phone will deliver a better run-time as compared to the original Pixel 3 devices. We haven’t tested the battery yet, and we’ll touch upon this topic in our detailed review later.

Why you shouldn’t buy it?

The primary reason would be the performance. It is obvious that the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL won’t be able to beat the competition. If you give more importance to what’s under the hood, this device is not for you. Further, the latest phones do not have the metal and glass back, and comes with a polycarbonate shell, which means that the phone does not support the wireless charging tech.

Conclusion

Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are aimed at those who seek a pure Android experience, good battery life and flagship Pixel-level performance in affordable price range. If you are tight on budget, considering this phone wouldn’t be a bad option. Moreover, a quick Google search tells that the Pixel 3 is available at a starting price of around Rs 57,000, so if you have a scope of increasing the budget to that extent, Google Pixel 3 is ideal device for you.

Pixel 3a XL vs Honor View 20 vs OnePlus 6T vs Samsung Galaxy S10e Performance Comparison: Does the cheaper Pixel make the right performance compromises

It looks like most of the information leaked about the Pixel 3a and 3a XL smartphone were true. But in case you were hiding beneath a rock up till now, here is a quick recap. Google has announced (more like confirmed), two new smartphones - the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL. The Pixel 3a has a 5.6-inch FHD+ gOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Pixel 3a XL, on the other hand, has a 6-inch gOLED display with an FHD+ resolution. Both displays are protected by DragonTrail glass. What is “gOLED” and why didn't the smartphone maker go with Gorilla Glass is something we have asked the company and will update this story as soon as we have the answers. The Pixel 3a has a 3000mAh battery whereas the Pixel 3a XL has a 3700mAh battery. The rest of the specs of both smartphones are the same. They both sport a Polycarbonate unibody design, 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 670 SoC, 12.2MP Dual-Pixel rear camera with a Sony IMX363 sensor, the same found on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, 8MP front camera and stereo speakers. The smartphones will be available in Just Black and Clearly White.

Based on the specs alone, the two ‘budget’ Pixel phones should ideally have been priced similar to a mid-range phone. However, the Pixel 3a is priced at Rs 39,999 whereas the Pixel 3a XL is priced at Rs 44,999. This pits it against high-end devices like the OnePlus 6T, Honor View 20, Samsung Galaxy S10e and others. Evidently, most of the smartphones in this price range are rocking a flagship processor. As a result, there should be a marked difference in performance between the Snapdragon 670-powered Pixel 3a devices and the other high-end rivals it aims to topple. Quite expectedly, the Snapdragon 670 cannot beat the flagship processors most phones in that price-range are rocking. But just how much of a difference does it make? We pit the Pixel 3a XL against some of the popular phones in this price range and see how well it performs. We compared the smartphones in synthetic benchmarks to give you a look at the pure numbers game along with some scientific gaming performance (we wear lab coats and gaming gear when gaming because we take our jobs seriously) and lastly, comment on some real-world performance.

For this performance comparison, we compared the Pixel 3a XL against --

Samsung Galaxy S10e with Exynos 9820 (8nm) coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

OnePlus 6T McLaren powered by Snapdragon 845 paired with 10GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Honor View 20 powered by Kirin 980 (7nm) paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

This will give us an idea of how the Snapdragon 670 with its multicore AI engine,  Kryo 360 CPU  and enhanced gaming performs when compared to the Snapdragon 845, the Exynos 9820 and the HiSilicon Kirin 980.

So, let's begin by giving you the bad news. The AnTuTu benchmark didn't run on the Pixel 3a XL unit we received and even though we tried to sideload the app, pray to the tech gods and even use the Force, we couldn't make the benchmark run. We’ll update this story once AnTuTu runs on the device. Let’s kick things off with the Geekbench single core and multi-core performance.

CPU Benchmarks  GeekBench

As you can see from the graph above, in the single core and multicore performance the Pixel 3a XL lags behind the competition by quite a long margin, indicating the CPU performance isn’t as fast as the flagship processors the Pixel 3a XL aims to compete against. All the other three devices, especially the Galaxy S10e, whizz past this smartphone. Even though the performance of the Honor View 20 and the OnePlus 6T are close to each other, it is the S10e which has taken the lead here.

Mobile Xprt

This benchmark is indicative of how the smartphone will perform if you want to make photo collages and slideshows. Even though this process may seem to happen in a heartbeat on any of these devices, delving deep into the processing capabilities of the hardware shows us once again that the S10e takes the lead. In Photo effects, the Honor View 20 does win by almost one second (remember, in this benchmark, the lower the score, the better) but in all the other tests in this benchmark, the S10e is the hare. It must be noted that the Pixel 3a XL is the tortoise here lagging behind by about 4 seconds in some cases, which is hardly surprising.

PCMark Work 2.0

This is one benchmark where the Pixel 3a XL doesn't lag behind by a lot. It is fairly close to the View 20 and the S10e, indicating that despite having a slower CPU, the Pixel 3a XL is quite capable of handling workloads like post-processing videos, reading texts and the likes. The winner here is the OnePlus 6T with the View 20 and the S10e neck to neck with each other.

GPU Benchmarks

Moving over to the graphics processing and gaming, the GPU accompanying the SD 670 is the Adreno 615. Speaking of the competition, the View 20 has the Mali-G76 MP10, the OnePlus 6T has the Adreno 630 and the S10e has the Mali-G76 MP12. Adreno GPUs have generally proven to have the upper hand at least on synthetic benchmarks. However, phones like the Honor View 20 also rely on software-based enhancements like GPU Turbo 2.0 that improves the performance of certain games to an extent.

3D Mark Slingshot

In the 3D mark Slingshot test, the OnePlus 6T blazes past the competition by quite a margin. That’s partly because of the software optimisations OnePlus has put in place. It has also proved to be the best smartphone for gaming in our lab tests. As for the others, there’s on average 1000 points difference between them.

PUBG and Asphalt test

Let's move over to some real-world gaming test. We used Gamebench to not only judge the average FPS during gaming. Surprisingly, the Pixel 3a XL has a rock solid 30fps in Asphalt 9 something that even the S10e lacked. The Honor View 20 also gave 30FPS on Asphalt 9, but out of the three, the Pixel 3A XL actually was the most stable at 92 per cent. The winner, as a result, is the Pixel 3a XL giving players stable gaming experience.

On PUBG, the Pixel 3a XL maintained 30fps and was on high settings by default. The same was the case with the View 20. The OnePlus won here again with 40FPS and 99 per cent stability, closely followed by the S10e.

Below we will share some other benchmarks that we ran on the smartphones but it suffices to say that the SD 670 isn’t a flagship powerhouse. With the OnePlus 7 Pro launching in a week, it will be interesting to see how the Pixel 3a performs in that segment. Even though the Pixel 3a XL didn't blow our socks off when it comes to benchmarks, its real-world performance was good with the little time we have spent with the smartphone. The stock Android UI is comfortably smooth, apps load relatively fast and multitasking isn't a hassle. There was the occasional moment where an app froze for a second and sometimes the keyboard took a hair longer than I'd like to pop up but those are niggles in an otherwise fluid experience.

It is safe to say that if a powerhouse of a smartphone is what you are looking for, then this device isn't for you. However, the Pixel 3a XL has one trump card up its sleeve that could change the game in its favour. It has the same camera on board like the one we saw on the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL. We loved the camera on that smartphone and if its performance is the same on the Pixel 3a and 3a XL as the Pixel 3, then we may just have a game-changing imaging smartphone on our hands. Xiaomi Mi A3, Mi A3 Lite could come with Snapdragon 7-series SoCs

The Xiaomi Mi A-series phones have been pretty successful in the Indian market particularly for the fact that it offers a stock Android experience thanks to its Android One certification. The Mi branding further fueled its sales along with the promise of regular updates and an attractive price. It’s no surprise then that Xiaomi is planning on a successor to the Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite (which launched in India in another name) that could be called the Mi A3 and the Mi A3 Lite. It’s expected to launch sometime in the second half of 2019 and some new rumours state that the phones could be powered by the Snapdragon 700 series.

The Mi A2 last year was the first phone under Rs 20,000 to come with the Snapdragon 660 and it won’t be surprising if the Mi A3 is powered by a 7-series chipset. The information comes courtesy XDA Developers’ chief editor Mishaal Rahman’s tweet where he suggested that the phones could be powered by Snapdragon 7-series SoC. In the tweet, he mentions source code available to him revealed Xiaomi is presently developing three smartphones with codenames — “Bamboo_sprout”, “Cosmos_sprout” and “Pyxis”, all three of which will be powered by Snapdragon 700-series chipsets.

The information seems credible considering the earlier Mi A-series devices also carried “sprout” in their codenames. It still leaves the “Pyxis” device unexplained though. Earlier information from XDA claimed that “Pyxis” could very well be the Mi A3 for the Chinese market where it could be launched as the Mi 7X.

Having said that, not much else is known about the Mi A3 series as of now and the fact that the upcoming Android One devices are powered by Snapdragon 700-series SoCs is the only thing known so far.

Microsoft Edge built on Chromium open-source project to come with IE mode, macOS compatibility, and many more new features

Microsoft’s Build 2019 conference is in full swing and the company made a slew of announcements on the first day of its event. One of the major reveals was its new Edge browser that’s based on the Chromium open source project. The company announced some new features that will be made available in the upcoming version of Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 and also confirmed that it will soon be made available on previous versions of Windows and on iOS, Android and on macOS. Edge Chromium browser will receive some new features like a completely revamped Collections feature, new privacy tools and an Internet Explorer mode.

Starting with the new Collections feature, it will enable users to collate images, text and other media from around the web. The feature is said to preserve the logical structure of the copied content so that it is easy to export them to Word or Excel. It enables drag and drop functionality for copying elements like images and text off from a web page and also creates reference links for the original websites where one found them. As for the new privacy tools, the new browser will feature three preset levels for implementing data privacy with different rules. It consists of Unrestricted, Balanced and Strict modes.

Microsoft also announced an Internet Explorer mode for the Edge Chromium browser. While aimed at enterprises, the new mode will enable complete IE11 compatibility to Edge for internal sites. The new mode is said to enable “rendering legacy IE-only content in high fidelity inside of Microsoft Edge” and one need not open a separate browser. As mentioned above, the new browser will also be made available on macOS and Mac users would soon get access to Canary and Dev builds of the browser, similar to Windows.

Realme X teaser image shows notch-less display, poster confirms AMOLED panel

Just a day after Realme X China launch got confirmed, the company has made shared two teasers regarding the phone. The first one comes from company’s official Weibo account on which a poster has been shared confirming an AMOLED display with high screen-to-body-ratio on the Realme X. The second teaser is an image shared by a company executive showing the notchless design of the phone.

Let’s talk more in detail. The first poster shows a futuristic establishment in which a billboard is seen having “AMOLED” text on it. This confirms that the phone will come with an AMOLED panel. It also reveals that the smartphone will have a screen-to-body ratio of 91.2 percent. Since the phone doesn’t have a notch and it’s already known that the phone have pop-up selfie camera, the company has claimed that the mechanism can elevate 200,000 times during its lifetime.

In the second teaser, the company's CMO Xu Qi Chase has shared a live image of the smartphone showing off the notchless display. The image shows the phone having slim bezels on three sides, and a thicker chin. The notchless screen also re-confirms the presence of a pop-up selfie camera on the Realme X, making it the company's first smartphone to come with this design.

Realme X is touted to be launched running on the Snapdragon 855 platform, and may launch in 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variants. It could come equipped with a 6.5-inch display OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution, and it might be protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Rumours have suggested that the phone will feature a sixth-gen optical in-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is rumoured to come equipped with a 48MP + 5MP dual camera setup on the back and a 16MP sensor on the front.
