Asus Zenfone 6 to come with Snapdragon 855 chipset, 35mm jack

Last week, Asus confirmed that it would launch the Zenfone 6 at an event likely to take place in Valencia, Spain on May 16. There were rumours that the phone would come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, and now the company has confirmed that the device will have Qualcomm’s flagship SoC under the hood. The Taiwanese tech giant also confirmed that the handset would also sport a 3.5mm jack.

In a tweet, Asus shared an image showing few features. Apart from the aforementioned ones, the phone will also come equipped with a smart key. The volume rocker and power button will be on right edge, and a triple SIM/microSD slot on the left edge. The phone will also have a notification LED, and is likely to have a notchless display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, according to an AnTuTu listing.

Additionally, Asus shared some more details of the ZenFone 6 in the form of a code on Instagram. It seems that the phone will have a dual camera setup on the back with 48MP and 13MP sensors, and a 5,000 mAh battery -- a significant upgrade over the ZenFone 5Z. The first mention of the phone was during MWC when tech news platform Lowyat spotted an ad in a magazine that showed that the phone would launch in Valencia, Spain. The company has hinted that the unveiling could happen in Europe because it has given the launch time in Central European Summer Time (CEST).

Previously, Asus had shared an image on its official Instagram account showing a silhouette of a phone with no notch. This could mean that Asus may also jump on the pop-up selfie camera bandwagon. If true, the Zenfone 6 will be the first offering from the Taiwanese tech giant sporting this design. Further, the image also showed an earpiece suggesting that the phone will not use the display for sound - a technology that several OEMs are using to get a near-edge-to-edge display design.

Oppo K3 to ship with Snapdragon 710, 63-inch AMOLED display and a 16MP pop-up camera: Report

Oppo introduced its K-series in India with the Oppo K1 smartphone, which is the cheapest handset with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Now, the company is reportedly planning to skip the Oppo K2 and directly launch the Oppo K3. While the smartphone is yet to be officially announced, the tipster @Sudhanshu414 has leaked its key specs. As per the leak, the Oppo K1 might come equipped with a motorised pop-up front camera akin to the one we’ve seen on the Oppo Reno. Additionally, it is said to come equipped with a new generation of the optical in-display fingerprint sensors.

Oppo K1 is said to be launched running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, coupled with 128GB of storage and options of selecting between 6GB and 8GB RAM. The Oppo K1 could feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a 2340 x 1080p resolution and might be backed by a 3,700mAh battery that supports 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging. The dual cameras on the phone’s back are said to feature 16MP + 2MP sensors and a 16MP sensor might be housed in the pop-up camera module. It is touted to get a Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack as well.

Leaked specifications of the Oppo K1 hint at an upper mid-range smartphone. The device could go up against the likes of Realme 3 Pro, Nokia 8.1 and the Oppo R17 Pro, which are also powered by the same processor. However, the Realme 3 Pro starts at Rs 13,999, while the rest of the mentioned devices fall in the upper-mid range category as the Nokia 8.1 starts at Rs 26,999 and the Oppo R17 Pro is priced at Rs 39,990. Do note that the details of the Oppo K1 don’t come from an official source and should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Blue Origin announces Blue Moon lunar lander, promises Americans on Moon by 2024

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos was thrilled to announce his new vision for continued space exploration yesterday in Washington DC. He announced that Blue Origin, the private space agency he founded in 2000, was currently working on a large lunar lander called Blue Moon.
