Asus new VivoBook series India launch slated for June 11

At a time when Asus is in the news for its upcoming launch of the Asus 6Z flagship smartphone in India, the laptop arm of the Taiwanese company has decided to launch the new Vivobook series in the country. Asus has sent an invite to the media for an event taking place on June 11 in New Delhi, and it will be launching what it claims the “World's smallest colourful ultrabook.” Concurrently, the company is teasing the Vivobook X412 on Flipkart and made the microsite live on the platform. We are not sure whether the company will launch the same laptop or add a few more to complement this one.

The Vivobook 14 (X412) was launched at CES this year with a four-sided NanoEdge display with 5.7mm bezels and an 87-percent screen-to-body ratio. Asus claims that because of its thin bezels the Vivobook 14 (X412) is 6.8 percent “smaller than normal 14-inch laptop.” It is powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core i5 processor, and is equipped with 8GB DDR4 RAM. The laptop ships with a 512GB PCIe SSD and an NVIDIA GeForce MX230 discrete graphics card. Connectivity options include USB Type-C port, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, and a microSD card reader.

Available in transparent silver, slate grey and peacock blue colours, the laptop has a 2-degree ErgoLift hinge. This lifts the laptop for better typing as well as the air flow. It is equipped with a fingerprint sensor and Windows Hello authentication support. Asus claims that the laptop weighs 1.5kg, and that it has a “new NumberPad.” “In normal use, NumberPad is a large glass-covered Windows Precision Touchpad with multi-gesture support. A tap of the NumberPad icon on the touchpad turns it into an LED-illuminated keypad with a familiar layout for easy data entry,” Asus explained in a press note.

Vivo to launch Z-Series phone in India, leaked images show rear triple camera setup

Vivo recently teased a Z-series phone launch in India, and on the heels of the teaser, an industry source has shared images of the phone with Digit. Citing its design, several media reports have suggested the phone could be the Vivo Z5x that was launched in China last month, however, our source tells us the phone is not what’s being reported. In simpler words, this phone is not the Vivo Z5x, but a separate Z-Series phone for the India market.

In the image, you can see that the phone sports a rear triple camera setup aligned vertically on the top left corner of the phone. Below the three sensors is an LED flash. In the centre of the panel, there is a fingerprint sensor. Moreover, the blue-coloured back panel features a u-shaped gradient design on a glossy finish. As of now, we do not know much about the resolution of the camera sensors, the fingerprint sensor technology and the hardware of the phone.

As mentioned, Vivo launched its mid-range device, the Vivo Z5x at an event in China recently. The USP of the phone is the punch-hole display that was first introduced as the Infinity-O display by Samsung last year. The Vivo Z5x is available in three colours: Extreme Night Black, Phantom Black, and Aurora - the last of which has a gradient finish. The phone is available in China at a starting price of CNY 1,398 (approx Rs 14,000) for the 4GB + 64GB storage model. The 6GB+64GB variant is priced at CNY 1498 yuan (approx Rs 15,000), the 6GB+128GB variant costs CNY 1698 (approx Rs 17,000), and the top-end 8GB+128GB variant has a price tag of CNY 1,998 (approx Rs 20,000).

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Vivo Z5x features a Full HD+ 6.53-inch LCD panel with 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution. The display offers an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.77 percent. Under the hood, the phone is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 710 chipset, with an option to choose from four variants. In the camera department, the triple camera setup features a 16MP main sensor and a lens having an aperture of f/1.78. There is an 8MP ultra-wide angle snapper with f/2.2, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front is a 16MP selfie shooter. The phone runs Android 9 Pie-based Funtouch 9 OS. A 5,000 mAh battery keeps the lights on.

Bethesda shows off Doom Eternal, Deathloop, Wolfenstein Young Blood and Ghostwire at E3 2019

E3 2019 is on in full swing and Bethesda, the publisher behind games like Doom, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Fallout and more, brought its A game to this year's E3. The company shed light on some big games like Elder Scroll Blades, and some VR experiences as well, but the highlight of the show was their upcoming library of PC and console games. Here is a look at everything Bethesda announced at E3 2019.

Wolfenstein: Young Blood

Wolfenstein Young Blood isn’t a direct sequel to Wolfenstein 2. The story of the game kicks off years later and you don the role B.J. Blazcowicz’s twin daughters, Jess and Soph. They are on the lookout for their dear old dad who has gone missing. The game's story takes place in an alternate World War 2 reality where the nazi are winning and it is up to you to take them down.

Release date: 26 July 2019

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4

Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal got a multiplayer trailer where the Doom slayer can take on the Demons. The new multiplayer mode is a demon vs slayer mode where one dons the role of each character. The demon has the ability to spawn more demons whereas the Doom Slayer has to rely on his arsenal and skills to get the job done. Doom Eternal also has a release date.

Release date: 22 November 2019

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4

Deathloop

From the studio that brought you the Dishonored franchise comes a brand new IP. Called Deathloop it looks like players will repeat the same set of incidences once they die to see how best they can survive the same onslaught. The trailer revealed shows off some pretty cool gunplay and anyone that has played Dishonored will recognise some familiar elements in Deathlloop. There is no release date available for the game just yet.

Rage 2

Rage 2 is getting some DLC content. Since the game released a few weeks ago, the DLC doesn't include a lot of content. What players get is cheat codes, new vehicles (including a mech) and game modes and modifiers. You can read our review of Rage 2 here.

Fallout 76

Bethesda was honest enough to acknowledge the debacle which was Fallout 76 and at E3 2019 showcased some of the goodies which gamers will get for free. It includes NPCs that can speak (finally!) and a battle royale mode. The update is called Wastelanders and you can check out the trailer below.

Starfield

Originally showcased last year at E3, Bethesda did touch upon the development of Starfield. The developer said that the game is on track to be revealed as a next-generation game so we think it's safe to assume the game will be revealed at E3 2020 and maybe a launch title for the next generation consoles.

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X could be companys first 16-core gaming chip with 105W TDP

At Computex this year, AMD introduced its 3rd Gen Ryzen 3000 7nm CPUs with 12-cores, along with the new Radeon RX 5700 7nm graphics cards. The chipmaker also announced the Ryzen 9 family of processors where the top SKU is the Ryzen 9 3900X processor, which is a 12-core processor with a TDP rating of 105W. Now, the company is expected to announce a few more new products at its E3 launch event and one of these devices might just turn out to be a 16 Core Ryzen 9 3950X ‘Gaming’ processor with a 4.7 GHz boost clock speed.

As per a slide of the product, obtained by Videocardz, it would be the first gaming CPU to feature 16-cores. With 32 threads, the CPU could support 72MB of total cache. The chip is touted to feature a base clock speed of 3.5GHz and touch 4.7GHz on boost. This most likely possible with the uses two 8-core Zen 2 dies but even then, the CPU will reportedly operate on a 105W TDP. If this turns out to be true, the rumoured AMD CPU could be one of the most power efficient 16 core chips for desktops. The closest rival of the alleged Ryzen 3950X would be the Intel i9-9960X CPU, which, despite running on lower clock speeds, has a TDP of 165W.

While there is no word on how much the new AMD chip might be priced at, rumours suggest that it could be the company’s first desktop CPU to cost around $999 (Rs 70,000 approx). If this turns out to be true, then the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X that costs $399 (Rs 27,671 approx) and the Ryzen 9 3900X that was announced for $499 (Rs 34,607 approx) might be more enticing for customers. However, nothing is confirmed until AMD announces it and so, we suggest you take this info with a pinch of salt.
