Redmi 7A vs Realme C2 vs Samsung Galaxy M10 vs Nokia 22: In-depth spec comparison

Redmi has launched the Redmi 7A in India to compete in the already highly populated entry-level smartphone market in India. Before launching it in India, Redmi had unveiled the phone in China. Except for the camera, all the specs remain the same as they are in the Chinese version of the device. Its competitors, the Realme C2, the Samsung Galaxy M10, and the Nokia 2.2 are already present in the market since long. Let’s see how the latest entrant fares against its competitors on paper.

Display and Design

Out of the four devices listed here, the Samsung Galaxy M10 sports the biggest display, which measures 6.2 inches diagonally. This is followed by the Realme C2’s 6.1-inch display. Nokia, a reliable name in Indian households, ships its Nokia 2.2 with a 5.71-inch panel and the Redmi 7A sports a 5.45-inch display. This means that the Redmi 7A gets the most compact form factor as compared to others. However, at a time when content consumption on mobile devices is high, customers usually prefer a bigger screen. Hence it is up to customers to choose a form factor that is best suited to them. When it comes to the type of display, IPS LCD panel and PLS TFT, which is there on the Galaxy M10, are not much different from each other.

Performance

The key difference between these phones should be the performance because all the phones feature different chipsets under the hood. We haven’t tested the Redmi 7A yet, so we’ll bring the in-depth performance comparison later. The Realme C2 has a MediaTek Helio P22 processor, which can be found in several entry-level smartphones. In comparison, the Redmi 7A features Qualcomm Snapdragon 439, the same chipset that powers the Nokia 4.2. The Samsung Galaxy M10 has an Exynos 7870 SoC and the Nokia 2.2 sports a MediaTek Helio A22 mobile platform.

Memory and Storage

There is nothing much to talk about the memory and storage here because all the devices mentioned above ship with same 2GB or 3GB RAM options and feature 16GB or 32GB storage. When it comes to expandable storage, the Galaxy M10 has the maximum support with an option to extend the storage to up to 1TB, theoretically. In comparison, Nokia 2.2 offers an option to expand storage up to 400GB. Both, Realme C2 and Redmi 7A have up to 256GB expandable storage support.

Camera

While the Realme C2 has a dual camera with a 13MP and a 2MP sensors, the Samsung Galaxy M10 comes with the 13MP sensor, paired with a 5MP one. In comparison, the Nokia 2.2 sports a single 13MP rear camera, and Redmi 7A sports a 12MP sensor, which is specially incorporated in the Indian variant.

Battery

In the battery department, Realme C2 and Redmi 7A offer the maximum -- a 4000mAh capacity battery. The Samsung Galaxy M10 houses a 3400mAh pack and the Nokia 2.2 ships with the smallest battery (3000mAh).

Firefox 68 said to offer Web Authentication support, fixes for Android Q and more

Mozilla recently showcased the pilot version of its upcoming Firefox Preview Android app, which is said to focus on “safety, privacy and independence.” While the app is available for testing on the Play Store, the company is releasing the latest version 68 of its standard Firefox browser for Android. As per Android Police, the most notable addition this update brings to the browser is support for Web Authentication API. Instead of using passwords, the API enables websites to use security keys to log users in. However, there aren’t many websites that implement the feature, even though Google introduced feature almost a year ago in its Chrome browser.

The new version is said to be the final feature update for Firefox as Mozilla is working on a completely new version of it on Android, as per the report. Subsequent updates for the privacy-centric browser are said to come with only bug fixes. In addition to the web authentication protocol, the new patch adds a new settings page for compatibility workarounds, performance improvements, and fixes for Android Q.

As mentioned earlier, Mozilla recently announced its Firefox Preview app, which is based on GeckoView browser engine. This browser engine is said to deliver greater flexibility in terms of privacy and security and Firefox says that unlike other major Android browsers that are based on Blink, Firefox’s GeckoView engine gives the company the ability to develop “faster, secure and user-friendly browser.” Firefox Preview is also said to deliver up to two times faster browsing experience than previous Firefox versions for Android. The app features bottom navigation bar and Collections, a new feature that helps users save, organise, and share collections of sites. Further, Firefox Preview blocks trackers by default, which results in faster browsing and fewer annoyances, the company said.

iOS 13 to bring Attention Correction feature to FaceTime

You might have noticed during video calls that the person you are video-calling has the tendency to look away from the screen. Apple is reportedly testing a feature called “FaceTime Attention Correction” in its iOS 13 Developer Beta, which is aimed at fixing just that issue. With this feature in action, you won't have to look into your Apple device's camera directly. Instead, you can just look into your screen and the person you are video-calling won't be able to tell that you’re constantly looking away.

The feature is available in the third beta of the new operating system. It was first spotted by Mike Rundle, a Twitter user. Users online have observed that the feature is available on the iPhone XS and XS Max, which could possibly mean that the feature is only supported by Apple’s latest hardware. There is a chance that Apple will not bring it on older models, like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7.

iOS 13 brings a bunch of features to the table, some of which are listed below:

A system-wide dark mode, 2x performance boost over iOS 12, new privacy features, a whole new app that combines both Find my iPhone and Find my Friends, revamped Apple Maps, reminders and Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, which is getting a new voice that might help it sound a little less robotic.

iOS 13 beta 3, the latest mobile software build from Apple, is mainly focused on performance improvements. At present we do not have any further information about this feature and its release date. But we expect it to come out sometime in the near future. It will be interesting to find out how the feature reacts when there are multiple faces in a single Facetime video call.

LG PuriCare Mini portable air purifier with 3600mAh battery to be launched in India at Rs 15,990

LG’s PuriCare lineup of air purifiers consists of four devices in India and the company will soon add one more to the lineup. The LG PuriCare Mini air purifier will be one of the company’s more affordable air purifiers, which is meant to be used on the go and as a portable air purifier. It will be priced at Rs 15,990 in India and launched in August 2019. The new air purifier features a compact design in comparison to standard air purifiers as it measures 69 x 64 x 200 mm and weighs 530 grams. The device will be launched in white and black colour models.

The LG PuriCare Mini air purifier comes equipped with dual inverter motors, and in terms of design, looks more like a portable Bluetooth speaker rather than an air purifier. It is said to work well in a 1.67 sq meter area and spew out 13 cubic meter of purified air (CADR). However, seeing how it is meant to be used as a personal air purifier, it would be better to use it in a manner that you directly breathe in the purified air expelled by it. It comes equipped with a pre-filter and a ‘Total Allergen Removal Filter’ that is said to remove 99 percent of all particulate matter, like PM10 and PM2.5.

The air purifier also comes equipped with a PM1.0 sensor and it uses the readings to display the current air condition using four colours. The  LG PuriCare Mini air purifier comes equipped with a 3600mAh battery that is said to deliver up to eight hours of run time and two hours at full speed. The air purifier also supports pairing with a Bluetooth app that helps a user get more information. In addition, the LG PuriCare Mini air purifier is touted to produce about 48 decibels of sound at top speed.
