India vs New Zealand PUBG Mobile World Cup Challenge: Predict to win Oppo F11 Pro, Flipkart vouchers and more

Excitement rises as the semi-final World Cup match between India and New Zealand draws near. While the Indian cricket team is all set to take on New Zealand today, developers of the online battle royale title PUBG Mobile also have something for the fans. Throughout the 2019 Cricket World Cup, PUBG Mobile has been running a predict and win contest where users can buy some World Cup Event Token and participate in the event to predict wins and bag some free rewards. Today, PUBG Mobile players can once again enter the contest to predict and get a chance at winning some new goodies. Here’s how you can enter the contest to try and win an Oppo F11 Pro, Flipkart Vouchers and more.

First off, to enter the contest, one needs to purchase some World Cup Event Tokens. This can be done primarily from the Offers Zone and also from the event itself. However, we noted that the event will only grant a maximum of three tokens so, the best bet here would be to buy some tokens from the Offer Zone. Do note that one needs to spend UC to get them. Once you get some tokens, head over to the PUBG Mobile World Cup option, which is listed as a limited-time event under the Events tab. Predict the team that will win here to earn runs. The more runs one earns, the better they rank and this increases the chances of winning goodies.

Xiaomi caught using Apples Memoji Ad to Promote its own Mimoji in China

Earlier this week, Xiaomi faced some backlash after it revealed a new digital avatar feature called “Mimoji”, which was labelled as a copy of Apple’s Memoji feature by the consumers. However, Xiaomi sent out a press release denying claims that it copied Apple. Now, the Chinese company has been caught in yet another controversy. Xiaomi used an Apple Memoji ad to promote its own Mimoji feature on the Mi CC9 in China. Though, Xiaomi is calling it a “mistake.”

The post was first discovered by a user on Weibo earlier today. The product page of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi CC9 smartphone showcased the Apple Music Memoji ad that had Khalid's dancing avatar singing "Talk." These ads were found on e-commerce sites including Suning and JD.com, alongside Xiaomi's official Mimoji graphics.

“This was all an accident,” said Xiaomi’s Public Pelations General Manager, Xu Jieyun on Weibo. He mentioned that the Xiaomi staff “uploaded the wrong content” and embedded the link to Apple’s video to the sites. He further said that the mistake is now being investigated and serious action will be taken. As of now, we are yet to hear how the internal investigation is going, or if the responsible party has been held accountable.

To recall, both Memoji and Mimoji are 3D avatars that the usera can modify to make them look similar to their own likeness as possible. Xiaomi drew some flak for reportedly copying Apple’s Memoji as Mimoji includes similar art style to Memoji, as well as accessories and eyewear that all look just like Apple’s version.

As previously noted, Xiaomi is known for taking inspiration from Apple to name its products, such as “AirDots” (similar to “AirPods”). Apple's former Chief Design Officer, Jony Ive, shared his frustration about Xiaomi back in 2014 in a Vanity Fair interview:

“When you’re doing something for the first time, you don’t know it’s going to work. You spend seven or eight years working on something, and then it’s copied. I have to be honest, the first thing I can think, all those weekends that I could have at home with my family but didn’t. I think it’s theft, and it’s lazy."

Honor 9X Pro schematics reveal triple camera stack, edge-to-edge display and 35mm headphone jack

Honor will launch more than one phone in the upcoming 9X series. Alongside the regular Honor 9X, the company will also launch the Honor 9X Pro. The schematics of the pro variant surfaced thanks to noted tipster Evan Blass. Based on the renders released by him, the Honor 9X Pro looks nearly identical to the regular Honor 9X which also leaked previously.

The Honor 9X Pro, just like the regular Honor 9X will come with an edge-to-edge display and a mechanical pop-up camera for selfies. On the back, we see a triple camera stack located on the top corner while on the bottom, there’s also a cut-out for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

While the display looks pretty immersive, the renders also highlight the bezels around it, confirming that it won’t exactly be a bezel-less smartphone. A previous leak of the spec-sheet of the Honor 9X Pro revealed the smartphone will be powered by the new Kirin 810 SoC while the camera stack on the back will comprise of a 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor along with an 8MP wide-angle camera and another 2MP depth sensor.

As for the display, the Honor 9X Pro will sport an LCD panel of size between 6.5 to 6.7-inches. The design, according to the leaked spec sheet, will be a glass-sandwich design held together by a metal frame. Finally, the pop-up selfie camera will have a 25MP sensor and a 4,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging will keep the lights on.

The Honor 9X and the Honor 9X Pro will launch in China on July 23 and will hopefully make its way to India. The ban on Huawei and its subsidiaries have been partially lifted to enable US companies to start supplying components and hardware to the Chinese tech giant, but the United States is yet to clear the company from being blacklisted.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 launch: Short video hints at powerful device

Samsung has already made it official that it would unpack the Galaxy Note 10 at an event scheduled for August 7 at 4pm ET (August 8 at 1:30AM IST) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The Indonesian arm of the company has now shared a short clip which essentially shows how the South Korean tech giant is going to market its “powerful” device. In the video, the phone is shown as a powerful device that can replace laptops and PCs. Even in this video, Samsung doesn’t hesitate to take a jibe at Apple.

In the video, when the company talks about a PC being replaced by the Galaxy Note 10, it shows a system that looks like an iMac. For those who don’t know, the company sells the Samsung DeX accessory that extends the functionality of the its phones to allow desktop-like functionality by connecting a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Additionally, when Samsung talks about a powerful phone, it compares the device with a dummy that sports a circular fingerprint sensor on the front -- similar to the older iPhones sported before Face ID became popular.

— Samsung Indonesia (@samsungID) 8 July 2019

While it is still not official, Samsung is expected to announce four different variants of the Galaxy Note 10: the Galaxy Note 10, a Pro variant, and 5G variants of both of these flagships. There are reports which claim that the Galaxy Note 10 Pro could be called the Galaxy Note 10+. The ‘plus’ suffix makes much sense because the Galaxy S-Series of phones are sold as the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+, and Samsung would want to introduce a level of symmetry when it comes to naming the devices.

Coming back to the devices, the major difference between the two could be in the size of the display. The Galaxy Note 10 is said to feature a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, while the elder sibling might feature a 6.8-inch panel. Both the devices will have a punch hole display, and renders leaked so far have shown the front camera sitting in the centre of the display. It is expected to house an Exynos 9875 chipset (or Snapdragon 855 SoC for some markets) coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 1TB of storage. The phones might pack a 4170mAh battery.

On the optics front, the Galaxy Note 10 is rumoured to feature a triple aperture camera setup on the back. The primary lens will be able to switch between the three apertures to give users control over the depth of field, and the amount of light entering the lens. Reports suggest that there will be a telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide lens. Additionally, the Note 10+ is expected to add a fourth Time of Flight sensor for added depth information and various AR applications.

Realme X will be sold via Flipkart in India, company releases teasers ahead of July 15 launch

Realme launched its Realme X smartphone in China and soon after, the company confirmed that it will be launching the phone in India as well. The company’s CEO, Madahav Sheth has been teasing the launch of Realme X from some time now and a Spider-Man Edition of the handset was recently announced. While it is now confirmed that the smartphone will launch on July 15 in India, the online retailer Flipkart has now hosted a dedicated microsite promoting it, which means that the Realme X will be made available in India via Flipkart.

The dedicated webpage for the Realme X on Flipkart cites a poll that apparently reflects the ‘Real Voice Of India.’ It states that 62 percent voted for a ‘stylish’ pop-up camera, while 66 percent asked for an in-display fingerprint sensor and 81 percent wanted a good rear camera. However, there are no details as to where this poll was held and what was the sample size. Additionally, it doesn’t take a detective to find out that the aforementioned features “asked” by people in the poll are all present in the Realme X.

Relame X specifications

The Realme X sports a 6.53-inch AMOLED display that is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is said to feature a 91.2-percent screen-to-body ratio and it comes equipped with a sixth-generation optical in-display fingerprint sensor, which is claimed to be 65-percent faster than the previous generation. The handset runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor and features a copper-pipe cooling, which is said to bring down the phone’s temperature by 15.2 percent while gaming.

There is no info on the RAM and storage variants Realme X could be introduced with in India. In China, the phone was announced with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

In terms of optics, the device comes equipped with a 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor with a 6P lens. There is a 5MP secondary sensor. On the front is a pop-up 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens. The rear camera setup on the phone features special modes to improve the photography experience. There is a Super Resolution Mode which is said to intelligently merge eight images into one, to create high definition photos. Another Super Night Scene mode is said to improve low-light photography. The Chroma Boost mode on the phone is claimed to improve the dynamic range in an image. The phone also features the ability to shoot 960fps slo-mo videos.

The phone is powered by a 3765mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 support.

When it comes to the Realme X Spider-Man edition, the phone will be launched in India alongside the regular Relame X. The special edition Realme X has all the same specs as the regular version of the device. However, it's packed in a special themed gift box and comes with a limited edition Spider-Man protective case as well as a preinstalled ColorOS 6 Spider-Man theme. The Spider-Man theme includes customised wallpapers and icon packs. With this device, Realme is further targetting younger buyers, a strategy the company has stuck with since its inception.
