Reliance Jio reportedly targeting 75 million homes with Fibre-To-The-Home rollout

Reliance Jio transformed the telecom space in India by offering internet for free when it was launched and later at relatively cheaper rates. Due to the competition, other brands were left with no choice but to offer 4G at low prices. Thanks to that, India now has the cheapest mobile data in the world. Now, the Ambani company is all set to disrupt the broadband market. When the service was announced last year, Reliance was targeting 50 million users. Now, the company has set higher targets. According to Business Standard, Reliance Jio is all set to target 75 million users in over 1,600 cities and towns simultaneously, over the next three years.

Reliance Jio is also asking its users Jio users to pitch in for naming its upcoming FTTH service. Users are apparently given an option to choose from the following names: JioFiber, JioHome, and JioGigaFiber. FTTH is not currently available in the country but a few high demand areas are being served under a preview program.

Reliance is currently offering two plans under the program: one is offering 50 Mbps connection for the security deposit of Rs 2,500, and the other one offers 100 Mbps speeds every month and the security deposit cost is Rs 4,500. The company is also providing a dual channel router that can handle more devices. There is no word yet for the launch price of the service. However, according to the rumours, 40 Mbps plan will be priced at Rs 600 whereas the 100 Mbps plan will be billed at Rs 1,000 per month. There are also rumours of the company giving a broadband connection, fixed line phone, and JioTV services under the ‘Triple Play Plan.’

Dr Mario World now available on iOS and Android

If you are looking to play a new mobile game with Mario involved, you are in luck. Dr. Mario World has launched on both iOS and Android today. However, it launched a day early for iOS users before it became available on Android. You can play the whole game without spending a dime as it is free to play with options of in-app purchases.

Nintendo announced its partnership with Line Corp for Dr. Mario. Now, the game has been released on iOS and Android. To recall, the Dr. Mario series is about 30 years old, and the first game was launched on NES and Game Boy in 1990. Before today, the most recent Dr. Mario game was  2015’s Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure for 3DS.

As for the gameplay, this mobile title is a match-3 game where different coloured viruses are arranged on the screen. You are the doctor who has to send capsules on their way. Then, the sent capsules drift upwards until they hit something, and the goal is to get three of the same colours in a row to move them off your screen. It is a game which has a little more to do with strategic thinking than random actions. It is like a traditional puzzle game. Dr. Mario has hundreds of stages spread across several worlds. Also, players can send and receive stamina-giving hearts and battle each other online.

Nevertheless, the mobile title was launched a day early for iOS users. Lately, it’s becoming a bit of a trend that mobile games drop a day earlier than the expected launch date. The same thing recently happened with Niantic’s Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. As for the benefits of pushing mobile titles a little ahead of schedule, it helps developers and publishers avoid a sudden, massive impact on their servers that might disrupt the player experience.

Amazon Alexa support

Customers can use Alexa Routines on the supported TVs, and can link together actions such as controlling their smart lighting, reporting on the weather, or listening to daily horoscope -- just like users can do with other Alexa-enabled devices. Users can also play music, listen to audiobooks and even use over 20,000 Alexa Skills that are already available on the Alexa Skill Store. One can also connect the TVs to external gaming consoles and soundbars by saying, ‘Alexa, Connect to soundbar’ or switch to picture mode by saying ‘Alexa, Change to Cinema Mode’.

Google Assistant support

For those who prefer Google Assistant over Amazon Alexa, LG has incorporated the AI-powered latter virtual assistant as well. Just like Alexa, users can select their favourite programmes, ask questions, and control compatible smart home devices with the Assistant. Using intelligent voice control, the users can speak into the LG Magic Remote to search for shows, change TV settings, switch to different inputs and more. With the Google Assistant built-in, users can also ask it to help manage daily tasks like scheduling calendar events or adding items to the shopping list.

Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support

Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support is only available in the LG 2019 OLED and select NanoCell TVs. α (Alpha) 9 Gen 2 Processor

All the TVs under the OLED and NanoCell ranges are powered by α (Alpha) 9 Gen 2 processor and deep learning technology. LG says that this tech allows the processor to optimise images by recognising source quality and implementing an algorithm to display the images. The company claims that the processor can analyse ambient conditions to set the optimal screen brightness levels. Additionally, the AI capabilities in the Alpha 9 Gen 2 processor is also said to fine-tune the audio according to the content type, making movies and TV dialogue more coherent. While the AI can adjust audio settings, the users can also make manual adjustments. The televisions also support Technicolor, HDR10 Pro, HLG Pro HDR and Dolby Atmos technologies.
