FTC allegedly fines Facebook 5 billion for privacy violations

According to multiple reports, after months of back and forth, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has reportedly approved a record-breaking $5 billion Facebook settlement for privacy violations. This record-shattering settlement is the largest one the FTC has ever given to a technology company, easily overshadowing the now-measly $22 million fine given to Google in 2012, which is still the second largest. The penalty of $5 billion comes after a year of investigation.

Nevertheless, the penalty was long-expected and one which Facebook is, in all likeliness, well prepared for. It is unlikely that this penalty will even make a dent in the social media giant’s deep pockets. However, the penalty will certainly add extra restrictions and more scrutiny over the company. Multiple reports stated that the FTC voted to penalise Facebook for privacy violations as well as mishandling user data. Many of these reports have cited an anonymous individual who is familiar with the matter.

Allegedly, the 3-2 vote broke along party lines. The Republicans were in support of the settlement while the Democrats opposed it. The case will now move to the Justice Department’s civil division for further review. It is still not clear how long the process will take, however, it is likely to be approved here as well.

A $5 billion fine would possibly spell doom for many companies, however, this is not the case with Facebook. The company generated nearly $56 billion in revenue in 2018 and analysts expect this year to be around $69 billion. The company will also be able to exclude this amount from its adjusted earnings results as a one-time expense. This figure is important since investors and finance analysts pay attention to it.

Facebook had already earmarked around $3 billion for a potential penalty, and in April this year, they even stated that they expected to pay up to $5 billion as a fine.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 may come bundled with wired in-ear headphones with active noise cancellation

Samsung will reportedly launch wired in-ear headphones with Active Noise-cancellation alongside the Galaxy Note 10 at the ‘Unpacked’ event on August 7 at 4pm ET (August 8 at 1:30am IST) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The information was shared by the popular tipster, Roland Quandt. However, it is not clear whether the company would bundle these headphones in the box, or will offer them as a part of some offer or with a special edition of the upcoming device.

Apparently, the headphones will be USB-C type and not 3.5mm because recently, a media report claimed that Samsung would do away with the 3.5mm jack in the Galaxy Note10. Quandt also says that the EP-N5200 wireless charger, which is reportedly made for the Galaxy Note 10, will deliver a 20W of charge. Finally, Samsung is also said to unveil a 9W wireless charging phone holder at some point.

Additionally, another media report has claimed that Samsung will launch a 5G variant of the Galaxy Note 10, which is likely to be the most expensive Note device ever from Samsung. The report says that this particular device is expected to offer 256GB of internal storage in the base version. The phone is also said to be offered in 512GB and 1TB storage options. The flagship version with 1TB of storage is also likely to feature 12GB RAM while the less expensive 256/512GB versions will reportedly feature 8GB RAM.

Previous reports suggest that Samsung is expected to announce four different variants of the next Galaxy Note: the Note10 and the Note 10 Pro, and 5G variants of both. There are reports, which claim that the Galaxy Note 10 Pro could be called the Galaxy Note 10+. The regular model will allegedly feature a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, while the elder sibling is supposed to sport a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel. The next Samsung flagship is expected to pack a 4170mAh battery, an Exynos 9875 chipset (or the Snapdragon 855 SoC for some markets).

And there is a new 9W wireles charging capable phone holder on it's way too.

Realme 3i to come with the Helio P60 chipset, dual rear cameras, and 4230mAh battery

Realme is all set to launch the Realme 3i along with the Realme X on July 15 in India. Just a few days before the launch, a teaser of the Realme 3i was spotted on Flipkart’s app, which has revealed some specifications of the phone. The teaser reveals two gradient finishes for the phone: red and blue. Additionally, it has a Diamond Cut back panel that was introduced in the Realme 1. Moreover, the phone will feature a dual-rear camera setup with a fingerprint scanner placed below.

The latest Realme 3i teasers on the Flipkart app reconfirm July 15 as the phone's launch date. Furthermore, the dual camera setup will be aligned vertically. In addition, Realme is hosting a Realme 3i Challenge, which hints at the battery capacity of the phone. The handset is rumoured to pack a 4,230 mAh battery and is touted to run on the Helio P60 processor.

The listing also revealed that the Realme 3i will run on Android Pie out of the box. In terms of memory, the phone is expected to come with 4GB RAM. The Flipkart teaser page of the phone also confirmed the presence of a 6.22-inch display with a waterdrop notch design.

The Realme 3i is likely to be the cheaper variant of the Realme 3, which was launched earlier this year at a starting price of Rs 8,999. Hence, the price of Realme 3i is expected to be lower than Rs 8,000. The phone will go on sale along with the Realme X in India on July 15 at 12pm.
