Realme to launch worlds first 64MP quad camera smartphone on August 8

Realme has announced that it will launch the world’s first 64MP quad-camera smartphone at the company’s camera innovation event scheduled for August 8. Neither Realme, nor the CEO has given out the name or any other information about the phone. Currently, Realme X (Review) is the company’s flagship device and it sports a triple-camera setup with 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor, which produces images with a binned resolution of 12MP by default.

In June, Sheth announced that Realme is developing a phone with Samsung’s Bright GW1 sensor that has a resolution of 64MP and uses the company’s ISOCELL technology to shoot images. The executive tweeted an image which, he claims, is taken on the handset with the sensor in question. The image mentions “64MP AI Quad Camera”, and Sheth stressed that this particular device would be launched in India before any other market globally.

Realme Phone With 64MP Quad Camera

Launched by Samsung Semiconductors in May this year, this smartphone imaging sensor is capable of 4-pixel binning to yield 16-megapixel binned images. The ISOCELL Bright GW1 features the highest resolution in Samsung’s 0.8μm-pixel image sensor lineup. Samsung says that the sensor is equipped with pixel-merging Tetracell technology and an algorithm that lets it produce 16MP images in low-light environments and “highly-detailed” 64MP shots in brighter settings.

Interestingly, this is the third phone that has been reported to come equipped with the Samsung 64MP sensor. Famous tipster Ice Universe said that Redmi and Samsung also reported to be working on a phone with the Bright GW1 sensor, but it seems Realme will be the first company to launch a phone with this sensor commercially.

We are taking a leap in smartphone camera on 8th August and we are doing it here in India. Get ready as we unveil the world's first 64MP Quad Camera on a smartphone at our camera innovation event. And this is among the first surprise of the season. Stay Tuned! #LeapToQuadCamera https://t.co/kSUMacQ9TI

YouTube Premium now supports 1080p offline video downloads

YouTube Premium subscription provides benefits such as, videos without ads, playing videos in the background, and downloading content locally. The company has tried to gain subscribers, but it has made some very strange choices in what features that subscription actually has. One of these strange choices include the omission of downloading videos in resolutions greater than 720p. However, it seems like YouTube Premium is now raising that limit to Full HD quality, that is, 1080p.

The ability to download videos and store them offline in 1080p was spotted by a Reddit user. It was first spotted on iOS but then the feature was also seen on Android. The support is slowly rolling out in supported markets on both Android and iOS - it has been confirmed by The Verge, who reached out to YouTube for comment. The spokesperson of the company said, “It’ll be available in most Premium markets, with more being added soon.”  However, you cannot download videos in even higher resolutions if you have a device with a 1440p display or even a 4k display.

YouTube Premium has more perks than just downloading and storing online videos. It also includes ad-less videos and Youtube Music Premium. YouTube also offers video downloading for free in some regions. However, it is still unknown if those regions will also get the 1080p video download option.

Back in May, the company also announced new student subscription plans in India Students who are eligible to opt for the plan can subscribe to YouTube Music Premium at Rs 59 and YouTube Premium at Rs 79 per month. Standard users need to pay a monthly fee of Rs 99 and Rs 129 to get premium access to YouTube Music and YouTube respectively. In contrast,  Apple charges Rs 60 monthly to students who buy an Apple Music membership.
