Here is what you can expect from Apples September 10 event
Apple hosts a few events throughout the year, but none garners the kind of excitement like the September iPhone event. The event kicks off in a few hours and in case you’re wondering, here’s everything we expect to be announced tonight.
The iPhone 11 trioThe main star of the show is going to be the iPhone trio, whose features have been leaked extensively. The iPhone 11 is expected to be the successor to the iPhone XR while the two more powerful iPhones will be the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The three phones are expected to come packing Apple’s new A13 processor. Other rumors include the Apple Pencil compatibility for the Pro models of the iPhone, while the iPhone 11 will not get this feature. The Pro models are also rumoured to come with triple cameras on the rear while the iPhone 11 is expected to be upgraded to a dual-camera system. The phones are expected to sport OLED panels too.
Apple Tag TrackerBesides the iPhone, Apple is also rumoured to be announcing the Apple Tag Tracker. Think of it as a Tile tracker, but made by Apple. The tracker can be attached to any personal item like a purse, or a bag and will be trackable through the Find my Device. The tracker can be put in lost mode as well and is expected to feature a removable battery. This seems like an odd new addition to Apple’s family of hardware, but there are some who would love for Apple to make more hardware, so this one’s probably for them.
Apple Watch Series 5Apple is also expected to unveil the next version of the Apple Watch, the Series 5. New features are said to include native sleep tracking, a feature that has been a glaring omission from the world’s most popular smartwatch. Besides the sleep tracking, there’s not a lot of changes that are rumoured to be making their way to the new smartwatch from Apple.
iOS 13Apple’s next iteration of its mobile operating system is expected to bring some major system-wide changes. The most exciting and anticipated feature will be the system-wide implementation of Dark Mode, allowing the OLED equipped iPhones to yield slightly better battery life. For those whose iPhones have LCD displays, even they will be able to enjoy the new visual aesthetic. Other changes include a revamped Photos app, better photo and video editing and a bunch more. Apple is expected to make the download for iOS 13 live tonight after the keynote
iPadOSApple’s name for the iPad version of iOS, iPadOS is finally getting an identity of its own. This also allows Apple to widen the segregation between the iPad and iPhone as device types. iPadOS is going to bring external device support, superior multi-tasking, new home screen layout and a feature called Sidecar to the iPad. There are a lot of features in iPadOS and you can have all of them on your compatible tablet tonight, once Apple makes the download links live. You can read our hands-on with the public beta here
The above are the major announcements expected tonight, but they aren’t the only ones. We also expect to hear about a new Apple TV and get more details on Apple Arcade and Apple TV+. The keynote is expected to begin at 10:30PM IST and can be viewed on a multitude of devices. For Mac users, you can watch the Livestream on Safari. Windows users can use Microsoft Edge for the same, but for the first time ever, Apple is also going to be livestreaming their event on YouTube.

Samsung Galaxy M30s spotted on TENAA with more specs ahead of September 18 India launch
Samsung is all set to launch its Galaxy M30s smartphone in India on September 18 and a Notify Me option for it is already up on Amazon. Some key specs of the device were previously revealed via the online retailer’s microsite for the handset and now we have some more information about it as it has surfaced on TENAA. As per the listing, the Samsung Galaxy M30s will come equipped with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display. We already know that it sports an Infinity-U display design and as per the listing, it will apparently house a 24MP sensor.
While the processor of the Samsung Galaxy M30s is not listed online, it is expected to be powered by the Exynos 9611 chipset. It will apparently come in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants, with the option to select between 64GB and 128GB of internal storage. In terms of optics, it could sport a 48MP main camera on the back, which is supplemented with an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 5MP depth sensor. The Galaxy M30s is confirmed to come equipped with a mammoth 6000mAh battery and as per the TENAA listing, the handset would come with 18W fast charging support.
While this is all ṭhe new information we have about the Samsung Galaxy M30s via TENAA, the handset was previously spotted on the Android Enṭerprise listing page too. The listing revealed some of its key specifications, which were reiterated on TENAA. There is no concrete information about the device’s pricing in India, but as per some reports circulating on the internet, it could cost somewhere between Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 in India. The Samsung Galaxy M30s will be launched at 12PM on September 18 in the country.
Samsung has been expanding its portfolio of A-series and M-series of smartphones to recapture the smartphone market it lost to Chinese smartphone players like Xiaomi, Vivo, OnePlus and others. Both, the A-series and M-series lineup by Samsung already features a number of handsets that were launched earlier this year and now, the company is announcing their upgrades which feature the ‘s’ moniker and are mostly incremental upgrades. The Samsung Galaxy A10s recently went official, soon after the Samsung Galaxy A50s and the Galaxy A30s. It remains to be seen whether the South Korean company’s new strategy is working in its favour or not.

Joker malware on Google Play Store has infected 24 apps, half a million users affected
A new Android malware has been discovered and it can reportedly leech money out of your accounts in the guise of a premium subscription. Called the Joker (after the manic Batman villain), the malware has been reported to have infected a total of 24 apps on the Google Play Store. Google have taken prompt action and removed all of them.
Before they were taken down however, the 24 apps have been downloaded and installed more than 472,000 times and it’s unclear whether any of the users are presently at risk. These are the apps that have been affected are—
1. Advocate Wallpaper 2. Age Face 3. Altar Message 4. Antivirus Security- Security Scan 5. Beach Camera 6. Board Picture Editing 7. Certain Wallpaper 8. Climate SMS 9. Collate Face Scanner 10. Cute Camera 11. Dazzle Wallpaper 12. Declare Wallpaper 13. Display Camera 14. Great VPN 15. Humour Camera 16. Ignite Clean 17. Leaf Face Scanner 18. Mini Camera 19. Print Plant Scan 20. Rapid Face Scanner 21. Reward Clean 22. Ruddy SMS 23. Soby Camera 24. Spark Wallpaper
The malware was discovered by Aleksejs Kuprins who said the virus can leech money out of people by wooing them with premium services. The virus simulates the sign up process a user would usually go through while signing up for a premium service. That includes making payments as well. Essentially, the infected apps silently click on an advertisement within the app, and goes on to do the same thing for the sign-up process. The app then gets access to the user’s SMS messages, copying the OTP that gets sent to authenticate a payment. The money then gets promptly deducted from the user’s bank account.
The malware has the potential to infect users in over 37 countries including India, US, UK and other European and Asian countries. Most of these apps didn’t have any region restrictions.
The good thing is that Google has taken down the 24 infected apps even before Kuprins managed to send them a note to take them down. But if you have any of the 24 apps installed, we suggest you check your bank account activity to see if there’s anything suspicious. It’d also be wise to uninstall the apps immediately.
