Motorola TV with soundbar, Android OS and more could soon launch in India
While OnePlus is making headlines for its soon to be launched television, it seems like Motorola is also gearing up to do the same. Motorola is apparently foraying into the smart TV segment with an Android 9 Pie television. Gadgets Now reports, citing industry sources, that the smartphone manufacturer will soon step into the smart TV segment with an upcoming offering that could be sold in India via Flipkart. The Android TV is also said to come with motion-compensated frame interpolation (MEMC) support, which is a feature that compensates for motion blur and makes the content seem more fluid by matching the screen’s refresh rate with the content’s frames per second. The feature is touted to come into play while gaming and the TV will reportedly have thin bezels on three sides.
While there’s no name provided for the alleged Motorola TV, the device is said to come equipped with a soundbar in the front. The 30W soundbar is said come with DTS TruSurround and Dolby Audio support. There’s no information on the price of the TV or when it would be launched in India but the report suggests it could be a high-end device. If this Motorola TV really does exist, it will most likely face stiff competition from brands such as Xiaomi, Skyworth, VU and others.

As mentioned earlier, OnePlus is gearing up to launch its OnePlus TV in India this month. The company has confirmed that the TV will feature a 55-inch 4K QLED panel and will be powered by Android OS. Pete Lau, OnePlus CEO and co-founder, also revealed an image of the TV’s remote that sports a Type-C port for charging and also features a dedicated Google Assistant button. The OnePlus TV will sport a kevlar finish for the rear panel and come equipped with 8 50W speakers that support Dolby Atmos sound. You can read more about the upcoming OnePlus TV here.

Google starts rolling out Dark mode for Gmail on Android
Google introduced a system-wide Dark theme with Android 10 last week. However, not many Google apps support Dark mode as of now. To change that, Google is rolling out Dark mode to another Google app. Gmail for Android has started receiving the new mode through a server-side update.
Dark mode on Gmail for Android can be accessed by users running Android 10 on their phones. TYou'll need to go to settings, select the "theme" option, and chose between light, dark and a system default option. The Dark option will turn the background of the Gmail app dark grey, along with all the inbox folders. Gmail now has three options: Light, Dark, and System default.
Everything in the app, including avatars and labels have been appropriately tweaked to be less bright and more muted on the new Dark mode. “A red accent colour is still leveraged to note what inbox you’re viewing. Other elements like the search bar use a lighter shade of grey to provide a better visual distinction. Gmail’s dark theme also extends to the compose screen and messages. While the body of an email leverages white text, signatures can be harder to see,” reports 9to5Google.
It must be noted that Version 2019.08.18.267044774 of Gmail is required to apply the new Dark mode. It is rolling out via Play Store today.
Gmail joins Google Fit, Photos, Keep, Drive, Chrome, Calculator, and more to the Google dark-themed apps list. This should make the end-user experience on Android 10 much better.

Googles Apple Arcade rival Play Pass to launch soon
Google has teased the launch of ‘Play Pass’ - its Apple Arcade rival. The company took to Twitter to announce that Play Pass is coming soon. The service was spotted in testing earlier this year. It is said to provide access to hundreds of premium apps and games. The Google Play Twitter account posted a GIF to reveal the official logo of this service. Besides this, the tweet didn’t reveal much information.
"It's almost time," Google Play tweeted on September 9. "Google Play Pass is coming soon." The tweet also carries a graphical image that reveals the logo of its upcoming service, which looks like a raffle-ticket icon.
Google Play Pass was first reported to be in development last year. Now that Apple has revealed its Apple Arcade service, Google is gearing up to launch its own Apple Arcade rival, which will not only offer premium games but apps as well.
Early last month, Android Police posted a few screenshots shared by an anonymous user to give us a sneak peek at the development. One of the screenshot info page reads, "Explore a curated catalog spanning puzzle games to premium music apps and everything in between. From action hits to puzzles and fitness trackers, with Google Play Pass, you unlock access to hundreds of premium apps and games without ads, download fees or in-app purchases."
Google Play pass was “priced at $4.99 per month with a 10-day free trial during the testing period,” reports 9to5Google. “It was priced at $4.99 per month with a 10-day free trial during the testing period, though that might change before the public launch.”
Google Play is said to offer a dedicated section to browse apps included in Play Pass. All the content included in Play Pass will be free of advertising or in-app purchases, with all functionality unlocked.

Samsung PlayGalaxy Link game streaming app now available on Galaxy Note10 phones
Samsung announced a PlayGalaxy Link feature during the launch of its Samsung Galaxy Note10 series and the new option is now available in beta for users in the US and South Korea. From what we know so far, the option enables a Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ user to stream their library of PC games directly to their device and can be used at home or for gaming while on the go. It also works when the host PC and the mobile device are not connected to the same Wi-Fi, which means a 4G connection should work fine but 5G should be better since it is all about low-latency.
The PlayGalaxy website is also up and one can download the Windows client for it here. The website was first spotted by the folks over at Android Auášhority who also came across the companion app for the feature on the Google Play Store. The app is currently available only on Samsung Galaxy Note10 phones but is expected to soon roll out for more Samsung devices. Alongside on-screen keypads, the PlayGalaxy Link also supports Bluetooth controllers and mice and keyboards. However, playing a PC game with touch input on a mobile device might be considered injustice to a title.
Samsung’s PlayGalaxy website suggests using a Glap controller while streaming games since it is said to be optimized for Galaxy phones. The app is free to download on both PC and mobile, and once installed a setup, it will automatically find and add games to your library. This can also be done manually in case the app misses some titles. Do note that a Samsung account is required for the PlayGalaxy option to work. Recommended specifications of a PC running the PlayGalaxy Link includes an Intel Core i5 or higher processor, 8GB DDR4 memory, Nvidia GTX 1060+ or AMD Radeon RX550+ GPU and Windows 10.
