Redmi K30 confirmed to feature dual front cameras, punch hole display design and 5G support

Redmi has confirmed that it is working on its Redmi K30 smartphone and it has now revealed some more details about it. The company’s GM, Lu Weibing, has previously announced that the upcoming handset will feature 5G support and now, he has confirmed that the Redmi K30 will sport a dual front camera setup, which will be housed in the display that sports a punch-hole design. The company executive also partially revealed the phone’s design and it looks somewhat similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note S10+, which also sports a punch-hole display design for the dual front cameras.

Weibing shared the info on Weibo and again reiterated 5G support on ášhe Redmi K30. He also shared some additional details about the device like it will come with will SA (Standalone mode) and NSA (Non-Standalone mode) dual-mode support. The latter relies on the existing LTE network for control functions like communication between cell towers and servers. This enables lowered 5G deployment costs in areas that already have LTE connectivity. In addition, the K30 is also said to become the “most affordable 5G phone” when it is announced.

The Redmi K30 will succeed the Redmi K20 and we expect a Redmi K30 Pro to be in the pipeline as well. The Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro are quite similar in terms of specifications. Both the phones feature a 6.39-inch Full HD+ display with a 1080x2340p resolution and run on MIUI 10 that is based on Android 9 Pie. Backed by a 4000mAh battery, the two phones come equipped with a 20MP front camera, which is housed in their pop-up front camera setup.

The Redmi K20 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 855 SoC and comes with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the Redmi K20 is powered by the Snapdragon 730 SoC, which is paired with 6GB RAM and comes with options to select from 64GB and 128GB of onboard storage.

Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL could be discontinued soon

Google is all set to launch the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL tomorrow, October 15. Ahead of the announcement, tipster Ishan Agarwal has tweeted that the predecessors, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL could be discontinued after the launch of Pixel 4 lineup. If that happens, Google would be adopting this strategy for the first time since after the launch of Pixel 3, Google continued selling its predecessor.

This is the Google Pixel line-up for this year and a comparison image for the same: Pixel 4, 4XL, 3a and 3a XL. Found the same marketing image as well. Looks like Pixel 3 will be discontinued after all. #Pixel4 #madebygoogle pic.twitter.com/XJDDCbkCFa

Google launched two affordable, toned-down versions of the Pixel 3 lineup, named Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. Google may want to continue selling the two affordable Pixels alongside the Pixel 4 lineup. This leaves no space for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Hence, Google may well discontinue the two phones.

Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will be launching on October 15 at Made by Google event. However, the two phones were completely detailed in a product page leaked by Best Buy Canada.

Google Pixel 4 is expected to come equipped with a 5.7” Full HD+ OLED display. On the other hand, Pixel 4 XL is touted to feature a 6.3” Quad HD+ OLED display. Both the smartphones are expected to come with a 90Hz refresh rate, which Google is planning to call Smooth Display.

In the optics department, Google Pixel 4 lineup may sport a dual 12MP + 16MP rear camera setup. On the front, it is likely to come with an 8MP selfie shooter.

Both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The smartphones are said to come with 6GB RAM with 64GB/128GB storage options. While Pixel 4 is said to pack a 2800mAh battery, Google Pixel 4 XL may come equipped with a 3700mAh battery.

Recently, the Canadian pricing of Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL were leaked as well.
