Apple could release four new iPhones along with the iPhone SE in 2020

The iPhone 11 was just released a few weeks ago and rumors and predictions have already started to make the rounds regarding two new iPhone models. Both these phones are expected to be 5G compatible.

As per a report from 9to5Mac, we can expect four iPhone 12 models next year. This is in addition to the iPhone SE 2 which could be unveiled in March 2020. The report also claims that the 2020 models of the iPhone will be 5G compatible. This comes after the news that there was a heavy demand for iPhone 11’s. This could even pull Apple out of the financial slump they’re in.

We could also see another camera sensor added to the new iPhones, if the report is true. This sensor could be a ToF sensor and could also feature some sort of radar-based system for gestures and motion sensing. We just saw a similar feature released on the Google Pixel 4 which was released recently.

Just a few days ago, Ming-Chi Kuo, a leading authority on leaks and such, said that the new iPhones could come with a new metal frame that is similar to the iPhone 4. We could be seeing a radical change in how Apple chooses to manufacture their new iPhones, going forward. He also says that, “the 2020 iPhone will have a more complex segmentation design, new trenching and injection moulding procedures, and sapphire or glass cover assembly to protect the trench injection moulding structure."

Who knows what Apple has in store for users in the next few years but from what we can see, we’re in for a interesting ride.

OnePlus Limitless Referrals is an expansion to OnePlus Care Program that can win you vouchers and points

Early last month, OnePlus introduced its new Care Program in India with the aim of rewarding its customers and entice new buyers. The smartphone maker previously announced some lucrative post-purchase offers under the service and it has now introduced Limitless Referrals. This Limitless Referrals program enables existing OnePlus users to share a referral link with others who when purchases a OnePlus phone, both get benefits in the form of points, discounts or cashback. The program will be valid for a limited time; between October 20 to October 31, 2019.

How to participate

OnePlus users participating in the program need to download the OnePlus Care app from the Google Play Store and verify their device’s IMEI number. Log into OnePlus’ website with your same account and navigate to Referral Program page and enter the IMEI number. This will generate a unique referral link that can be shared and the same link needs to be used by a buyer to log in into OnePlus.in for receiving gifts and vouchers.

Referral rewards

As mentioned above, both, existing OnePlus users who share a referral link and new buyers, will get rewarded under the program. Buyers will get a gift voucher or coupon worth Rs 2,000 that can be redeemed against the purchase of a OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T or OnePlus 7T Pro from oneplus.in, amazon.in, OnePlus Experience Stores, and select offline partner stores. This coupon will be available when they log into the OnePlus website via a referral link.

Do note that when the referee buys a new OnePlus handset, they need to download the OnePlus Care app and verify their phone’s IMEI. This is when the referrer will receive points worth Rs 1,000 in their OnePlus account, which can either be redeemed against OnePlus products or one can get the equivalent amount as an Amazon voucher.

OnePlus Care

OnePlus’ recently announced OnePlus Care program offers a host of benefits, including free extended warranty for one year, 50 percent discount on battery replacement, and an upgrade offer with a ‘competitive’ trade-in value for older OnePlus phones. Phase 1 of the program has been rolled out and it also includes flat 50 percent off on battery replacement with zero labour charge for OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 6 devices.

Reliance Jio is now the second largest telco in India with 355 million subscribers but ARPU is still falling

Reliance Jio posted some impressive results ever since it commercially entered the telecom sector. Now, Reliance Industries Limited announced its financial and performance results from Q2 this year, which included some announcements from the company’s telecom arm, Jio. The telco is said to be the second-largest telecom provider in India with 355.2 million subscribers. As per the company, 24 million new users have joined the network since the last quarter. In addition to this, the telco also detailed its net profit, ARPU (average revenue per user), total data and voice traffic and churn rate.

The Reliance Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held in October this year and at the event, it was announced that Jio had 331.3 million subscribers. The new numbers suggest good growth for the telco for Q2 this year but at the same time, the ARPU is going down and in Q2 it was Rs 120 per month, down from the previous quarter’s Rs 122 per subscriber per month. With Jio’s announcement of charging 6 paise for every minute of outgoing calls to other networks, this figure might increase. Although, there’s a possibility that the subscriber count could also be affected.

As for the churn rate, Jio apparently has the lowest numbers at 0.74 percent per month. The company’s net profit is at 990 crores, up from Rs 681 crore a year ago. As for the data and voice traffic, 12 billion GB was consumed on the telcos’ network with average data consumed by a user per month at 11.7GB, which represents a year-on-year growth of 55.9 percent. About 813 billion minutes of voice calling was processed on its network Jio’s network with an average voice consumption of 789 minutes per user, per month.

Rival telcos Vodafone-Idea and Bharti Airtel will announce their respective financial and performance results early November and later this month, respectively.

Fnatic to enter Indian esports with a PUBG Mobile team

One of the most well known esports organisations in the world, Fnatic, have announced their entry into the esports scene in India.

Fnatic has acquired team XSpark, which is currently one of the leading PUBG Mobile teams in the country. XSpark consists of Sc0utOP, Ronak, Owais, InYoDream and Paritosh. Sc0utOP and Ronak may be recognisable to some as the players who qualified for the PUBG Invitationals in Berlin recently.

In an exclusive quote to AFK Gaming, Fnatic's Chief Gaming Officer, Patrik Sättermon had this to say:

"It’s been a long term dream and goal to enter India. We’ve been exploring the market as well as  meeting with players, organizations and game developers to understand how the market is moving and where the opportunities lie. With Team X and PUBG Mobile we have a great opportunity as they are a pro team, who are not just the best in India but also are international contenders. For the initial months, we’ll focus on the sports side and content. Over time, we are looking to set up a gaming facility and staff up so that all the fans and gamers in India can get the full Fnatic experience that they deserve, in terms of products, experiences and of course content. We are delighted to be here. It’s been a long journey but I think we’ve found the perfect opportunity to engage and learn from a thriving esport community that we are happy to be part of."

Fnatic made the annoucement via Instagram.

OnePlus 8 Pro early renders suggest punch-hole front camera, quad rear-camera design

Earlier this month, we came across some renders and info about the OnePlus 8, which is expected to be announced in the first half of 2020. The tipster @OnLeaks posted the handset's images on Twitter and now, the tipster has partnered with 91Mobiles to release some alleged renders of the OnePlus 8 Pro. Going by the images, a design change seems to be in ṭhe works for OnePlus’ next year flagship, with the key changes being a punch-hole display design and a quad rear camera setup. If this turns out to be true, the OnePlus 8 Pro might be the company’s first handset with quad rear cameras.

There’s also not much of a difference between the OnePlus 8 Pro and the previously outed OnePlus 8. Renders of both the phones showcase a punch-hole display design, along with a screen that curves along both the vertical edges. As per the report, the 8 Pro might sport a 6.65-inch display, which is slightly bigger than the 6.5-inch panel touted to be equipped on the OnePlus 8. A 90Hz display refresh rate is already confirmed for the handset since OnePlus has announced its new and upcoming phones will come with the stated higher refresh rate.

Coming to the optics, the OnePlus 8 Pro sports a quad camera setup where three of the four cameras are housed together in a single module. There’s also a 3D ToF sensor, along with an LED flash. The power button and the alert slider can be seen on the right edge of the handset, while the volume buttons are on the device’s left edge. On ṭhe bottom sits a USB Type-C port, along with a speaker grille. The handset reportedly measures 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8mm in size.

OnLeaks is a credible source and while the new OnePlus 8 render seems quite accurate, we suggest you take the info with a grain of salt. It is too early to say whether ṭhese new renders will pan out or not.
