PlayStation 5 will launch on December 4 for approximately 500: Report

If information circulating the internet is to be believed, then Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5 will hit store shelves on December 4 with a price tag between $500 and $550 making it $100 more expensive than the launch price of the PS4 which was priced at $400 when it launched back in 2013. Sony has confirmed that the PS5 will launch in holiday 2020 but hasn't confirmed a date. Some information regarding the specifications of the PS5 has been confirmed like hardware-enabled Ray Tracing in the console, Ryzen CPU, Navi GPU, SSD storage, improved audio and haptic feedback for the PS5 controller. $550 translates to roughly 40,000 so it is safe to say that the PS5 could launch in India in 2021 for an official price tag that could surpass Rs 55,000 to Rs 65,000 based on taxes and duties.

It has also been confirmed that the leaked devkit renders are real and images of the devkit in action with studios have also leaked online. Sony has had a practice of differentiating the devkit design and the final design of the console so it is safe to say that the final retail console will not look like the one we have seen in leaked images.

It is surprising to see a December release date as Sony will miss out on the holiday shopping that takes place in November in the US and UK. The delay in the release date could be because of supply issues faced in production. We will only know the true release date when Sony announces it.

Sony usually holds a PlayStation Experience in December each year but just like E3 2019, it looks like we won't be getting a PSX this year either. All the confirmed information about the PS5 has come from interviews that the gaming giant has had with Wired magazine.

Both Sony and Microsoft have confirmed a 2020 release date for the next-gen consoles.

Upcoming noise canceling AirPods Pro to cost 250: Report

If information circulating the internet is to be believed, then Apple could launch AirPods Pro at a price point of $250. Hints of the upcoming noise-cancelling AirPods Pro were seen in iOS 13.2 beta build. The design looks like a mix of the current AirPods and in-ear earphones. The information comes from China Economic Daily, which suggests that the AprPod Pro could launch in time for the Holiday season and the estimated price point will be about $250.

It is also suggested that the current AirPods will sell in the market and the new AirPods Pro will be positioned as a premium offering to match the iPhone 11 Pro. There is no information on the battery life or features of the new headset.

Apple updated the AirPods back in March with features like a wireless charging case, a new H1 chip, hands-free Hey Siri, faster connection to your iOS devices and longer battery life. Apple claims that the current selling AirPods provide 24 hours of battery life with the charging case, up to 5 hours of listening time on a single charge and 3 hours of listening on a charge of 15 minutes. The Apple AirPods with the wireless charging case sells for about Rs 16,699 in India.

In our review of the second generation AirPod we said, "The new Apple AirPods sound good, not great, but good. While the earphones produce relatively deep bass that's not highly accurate, it handles the highs quite well but the mids are slightly dampened. With a slew of features that will cater to most users’ needs, the AirPods would make an excellent package if it weren’t for the premium one has to pay for them. The value for money factor weighs in heavily as the new AirPods are steeply priced at Rs 18,900 when you buy them with the new wireless charging case. However, buying them with a standard case that costs you Rs 14,900 feels like a better proposition since wireless charging is still a ways away from taking on wired charging and the company is not providing a wireless charger either." Smasung issues statement regarding Galaxy S10 fingerprint scanner bypass issue

When Samsung launched the Galaxy S10, the company had said that the fingerprint scanner was ‘revolutionary’ because the in-screen scanner would use ultrasound to map out the ridges of the users fingerprint and match it accordingly. This was a new development in the world of in-screen scanners as most scanners that used the tech were of the optical kind. Optical scanners use projected light under the screen to read users’ fingerprints and unlock their respective devices. But, as it turns out, the ultrasound scanner could be easily bypassed.

A user discovered that after she had installed a gel screen protector, her phone was being unlocked by unregistered fingerprints. Apparently, the screen protector also interfered with another S10 when it was used in conjunction with it. So clearly, it isn’t a problem with the gel protector but with the unlocking technology itself.

Samsung had addressed the issue and said that users should only use Samsung approved protectors and were looking into the issue internally. They also said that they were issuing a software patch to address the issue. The company also released a statement regarding the Galaxy S10’s fingerprint scanner problem.

This is what the company had to say:

This issue involved ultrasonic fingerprint sensors unlocking devices after recognizing 3-dimensional patterns appearing on certain silicone screen protecting cases as users’ fingerprints.

To prevent any further issues, we advise that Galaxy Note10/10+ and S10/S10+/S10 5G users who use such covers to remove the cover, delete all previous fingerprints and newly register their fingerprints.

If you currently use front screen protective covers, to ensure optimum fingerprint scanning, please refrain from using this cover until your device has been updated with a new software patch.

A software update is planned to be released as early as next week, and once updated, please be sure to scan your fingerprint in its entirety, so that the all portions of your fingerprint, including the center and corners have been fully scanned.

Motorola could reveal the new foldable Moto Razr at its November 13 event

We all remember the Moto Razr when it came out as it was a unique device that stood out from the rest of what was out at the time. But as the smartphone industry moved towards the design form of the modern age, the Razr was left behind. But now as the foldable smartphone makes its way into the public consciousness with the Samsung Fold, we’re hearing rumblings of a revamped Motorola Razr. And why not? It seems to be the best time for a dual screen smartphone to make a splash in the market and with the reputation and name value of the Razr, the iron seems to be hot.

In fact, Motorola have sent out invites for an event on November 13 where Motorola will reveal a “reinvented icon”. Three guesses as to what the reveal will be. To be fair, there is no real conformation regarding if this will actually be the Motorola Razr but there is little doubt as to the reveal either. Motorola have already confirmed that it was designing a foldable smartphone earlier this year.

Although the older Razr was a foldable phone, this new design looks to be a one large foldable screen in the older Razr’s form. The interior of the phone will be completely different from the older design. Leaked specs have alleged that the new Razr will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chip and a $1500 price tag when it does ship.

All the speculation will finally be out to rest when the event finally takes place next month.
