Call of Duty: Mobiles new Halloween update brings new operator skill, Halloween-themed map and more

With Halloween just around the corner, Call of Duty: Mobile has announced a new in-game event based on the festival. This is also the first seasonal event for the game since its global launch earlier this month. The event gives players the chance to play on a Halloween themed version of the Standoff map, unlock the new ‘Sparrow’ operator skill, and more. The main menu also features a themed look.

The new Halloween-themed Standoff map is now set at night, with lights and jack-0’-lanterns everywhere. The new map is available in Team Death Match, Search & Destroy and Domination. Interestingly, the in-game description for the game mentions that the map is also available for the Hardpoint game mode. However, this game mode is not yet available in Call of Duty: Mobile, but the update notes do mention that it will be added soon.

The ‘Sparrow’ operator skill can be earned by completing certain tasks such as killing a set number of enemies in a specific map, or using the operator skill a set number of times. The final reward for completing all the objectives is the Sparrow operator skill that gives the player a bow that fires explosive arrows.

Besides this, there is also a Halloween Lucky Draw that players can partake in. This draw gives players the chance to win skins for vehicles, weapons and player characters. However, in order to enter the draw, players will have to spend 15CP, which can only be earned through real money.

Other changes mentioned in the update notes includes a new Battle Royale Chip, called Airborne, and the Molotov Cocktail scorestreak will be made available as well. The update also introduces some balance changes to the Type 25 gun, which includes slightly reduced close range damage and adjustments to hip fire capabilities of the weapon.

Jio All-In-One plans priced at Rs 222, Rs 333, and Rs 444 announced: All you need to know

Reliance Jio recently announced that it will be levying Interconnection Usage Charge (IUC) from its users for calls placed to other networks. Along with the announcement, the telco announced new recharge top-ups and revised its existing plans so that one could purchase IUC minutes along with its standard plans. Now, Jio has announced new All-In-One plans that are touted to offer more data and voice benefits over its existing plans. Priced at Rs 222, Rs 333 and Rs 444, the plans credit 2GB data per day and have a validity of one, two and three months respectively.

Along with free daily data, Jio users will get unlimited free calls to other users on ášhe Jio network, along with non-Jio FUP of 1,000 minutes. This means that the company is bundling 1,000 IUC minutes with its new All-In-One packs. Additionally, earlier benefits like free SMS and access to Jio’s suite of apps are still available. One thing to note with Jio’s new plans is the ability to extend any of the three existing plans by a month by paying Rs 111. So, as an example, if you have opted for the Rs 333 plan, you can pay an additional Rs 111 to extend the benefits for an additional month.

We checked Jio’s website but the new plans are not listed at the time of publishing this article. Also, on comparing the new All-In-One plans with the telcos existing plans, the former do deliver better value for money. The most affordable 2GB per day plan by Jio with one-month validity is currently priced at Rs 198. For 1000 IUC minutes, one will either need to opt for Rs 100 top-up voucher, which bumps up the plan’s price to Rs 298. In this sense, the new Rs 222 plan by the company makes more sense since you get the same amount of data for one month, along with 1,000 IUC minutes.

Vodafone offers full talk time for 28 days of service validity in Rs 30 prepaid recharge

Telecom operator Vodafone re-introduced the Rs 20 talk time prepaid plan a few months back in select circles. It offered 28 days of service validity. After that, Vodafone officials confirmed that the company is looking to provide various affordable recharges to their customer, in an effort to keep their accounts active. Similar to the Rs 20 prepaid plan, now, the UK-based telecom operator offers full talk time benefit and service validity in the Rs 30 prepaid recharge.

The new Rs 30 prepaid recharge plan includes benefits like Rs 30 talk time and 28 days of service validity. It is being offered in select circles as of now, which includes Mumbai, Karnataka and Kerala. Further, the plan seems to be available only to select customers. Users can recharge via third-party portals like PhonePe, Paytm and others. However, availability varies with every user.

TelecomTalk suggests there is no requirement for the company to bring back the Rs 30 talk time plan. It’s because the Rs 35 All-Rounder Vodafone plan is very popular amongst the customers. It offers Rs 26 talk time, 100MB of 4G/3G/2G data alongside  2.5 paise per second charge for voice calls over a period of 28 days. To recall, the new Rs 30 prepaid recharge plan does not ship with any data benefit.

Vodafone introduced the Rs 20 prepaid plan, offering full talk time benefits for 28 days of service validity. The plan is aimed at users who are not willing to spend Rs 35 on the All-Rounder plan. Now, there is a new Rs 30 plan whose major downside is its validity. The company is also offering users an option to extend service validity with the Rs 20 talk time plan.

Xiaomi to launch over 10 5G phones in 2020

Xiaomi will be one of the first companies to launch 5G phones next year. Speaking at the World Internet Conference in the eastern Chinese town of Wuzhen, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has revealed that the company is planning to launch more than 10 5G phones net year. The Chinese company has already launched two 5G phones - the Mi Mix 3 5G and Mi 9 Pro 5G - in the local market this year. According to Lei, the demand for both phones exceeded Xiaomi’s expectations and led to supply chain issues. Therefore, it has prompted the company to launch 5G models for the high, middle, and low-end price tiers, next year.

Xiaomi's share in the Chinese smartphone market has fallen from 13.9 percent to 11.8 percent over the past year. In reference to that, Lei said, “People in the industry fear that next year 4G models won’t sell, this is a step you have no choice but to take, so we hope that operators can speed up their expansion of 5G base stations.”

Reportedly, Chinese carriers have already started accepting pre-subscriptions for 5G. Moreover, around  9.3 million users have signed up for next-generation communication technology even before it is rolled out in China. Further, the top three Chinese carriers have already secured around 9.3 million 5G pre-subscriptions. They are allowing people to sign up for 5G via text message. China is expected to be the largest early adopter of 5G infrastructures as more consumers are expected to migrate towards 5G in 2020.

As of 2019, 5G phones account for one percent of the market. However, according to Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) projections, the demand for 5G smartphones could reach 300 million units by next year, which according to  Strategy Analytics projections equals to 10 percent rise in 5G phones by next year.
