Motorola Razr 2019 leaked images invoke nostalgia with a clamshell design

It’s not surprising to see that the smartphone market is reaching a saturation point. The shipment numbers have been falling for some quarters now and there’s a dire need of innovation to rejuvenate the segment. The concept of foldable smartphones isn’t new and companies like Samsung and Huawei have come up with their own versions of foldable phones. Motorola also admitted that it is working on a foldable phone and it is rumoured to resemble the iconic Moto Razr, at least in terms of design. Now, the noted tipster Evan Blass has leaked some renders of the upcoming handset ahead of the expected November 13 launch.

Leaked renders of the handset hint at a clamshell design for Motorola’s folding phone. When closed, there’s a small touch screen on top and below is a notable bottom panel that houses a button that might double as a fingerprint sensor. There’s also an image of the phone when its completely unfolded and it shows off the device’s hinge and a tall inner display. There’s a regular square-shaped notch on the device’s display. If the leaked images are to be believed, the upcoming foldable smartphone by Motorola does resemble the original Razr V3 from 2004.

While there aren’t any specs of the phone listed with this leak, a previous report suggests that the handset might come with a  6.2-inch OLED main display. The display on the outside might have a 600x800px resolution and the whole package could be powered by the Snapdragon  710. Equipped with 4/6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the handset might sport a 2730 mAh battery. It is rumoured to be priced around $1,500 (Rs 1,06,275 approx) but nothing is official until the company announces it.

New Steam update brings redesigned library, events, Remote Play Together Beta feature

After what seems like an eternity, Valve Corporation has updated its popular game marketplace application Steam with a visual makeover. More specifically, it has given the frequently accessed library page in the application a new look and added some functionality. Apart from showing the user’s list of owned games, the new library shows game updates, recently played games, friends activity, and more. You can expect to view the updated library by updating Steam to its latest stable version or by downloading it from here.

Enumerating the list of changes made to the application’s library in a blog post, Steam writes, “From your absolute favorite AAA title that all your friends are playing, to that solo indie art project that only you seem to love, your Steam library represents your gaming history.” The first visual change you’ll notice is the library’s landing page, which shows shelves such as ‘What’s New’, ‘Recent Games’, and ‘Recent Friend Activity.’ In addition, you can add your own shelves, such as ‘Racing Games’, ‘Games that calm me down’, etc.

The game list on the left-side panel of the library gets a new look too. The user’s owned titles are now listed with a small logo next to the name. With the new update, Valve wants to promote the concept of events and its new event-editing tool, which it claims will simplify hosting game-related social activities. “The new event tool gives you the ability to connect with players and share other things like a developer live-stream or a community challenge, or even highlight interesting fan art.”

Valve began testing its redesigned library publically in September this year through beta releases and has now incorporated the changes in the stable version of the application. With the new update, Valve has also opened up access to the Remote Play Together Beta feature, which lets two or more Steam friends play local co-op, local multiplayer, and split-screen games online. “Their controllers will act as if they're plugged directly into your computer, and all your voice chat and game volume options are available in one place,” adds Steam.

Huawei MediaPad Pro with punch-hole camera, stylus, keyboard accessory leaked

Looks like Huawei is preparing to launch a new tablet in the market. Notable leakster, Evan Blass aka @evleaks, has posted a picture of the upcoming device on Twitter and claims that it will be called the Huawei MatePad Pro. The image suggests that the device may feature a punch-hole camera design, with a keyboard accessory and a stylus that will most likely attach to the body of the tablet magnetically.

Other details about the tablet are not yet known. However, a few weeks ago, 91mobiles posted a few images of an upcoming Huawei tablet that it called the MediaPad M7. However, since then the publication seems to have agreed with Blass that the tablet is indeed the MediaPad Pro. Based on their images, the device may feature a dual-rear camera setup as well as a USB Type-C port.

The exact specifications of the MediaPad Pro are not yet know, but it is possible that the Chinese manufacturer will be planning to compete with the Apple iPad Pro with their new device. In that case, the device will have to pack some top-of-the-line specs such as the company’s Kirin 990 chipset. However, it is still not yet known if the tablet will be powered by Android or some other OS. It is possible that Huawei might do the same thing it did with its recently launched Mate 30 series of smartphones. These new phones do not come with Google Play Services. Instead, it comes with Huawei Mobile Services, which is open-source, and will act as a substitute. Users will have to create a Huawei ID in order to access all the features such as the app store, cloud services and more.

App Store error causes 22 million app ratings to disappear

Many developers woke up to a rude shock last week when they found thousands of ratings from their apps on Apple’s App Store had been removed. In total, it appears that 22 million app ratings got erased from the App Store. The incident was reported by Appfigures, a service that tracks apps on the App Store.

Last year in December, apps on Apple’s App Store had suffered something similar, where many of the apps had lost half their ratings. Now this time around, the sudden disappearance in ratings is more random and has impacted developers both big and small. On the morning of 23rd October, over 300 apps from 200 developers saw their app ratings disappear. The highest impact was on apps in the U.S. App Store, with some apps losing almost half their ratings. For example, the Starbucks app lost 55 percent of its user ratings while the Chase Bank app saw 85 percent of its ratings disappear. Additionally, AppFigures notes that it isn’t just positive or negative ratings that got removed, but rather a mix of them. The service reports that it was actually the 3 star and 4-star ratings that were hit the hardest. Additionally, while the U.S. App Store saw 10 million of the 22 million ratings disappear, the “bug” impacted App Store across 155 countries, all differently.

Apple has acknowledged the incident and has claimed that the ratings have disappeared due to a bug. The company also said they are working on restoring the ratings to all the apps.
