Chadwick Boseman returns as a hard-nosed New York cop in 21 Bridges

Fresh off the success of the MCU’s Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman is one of the hottest names in Hollywood, right now. His stock has never been higher and it’s time to strike while the iron is hot.  The acclaimed actor has stepped into the shoes of a grizzled New York cop who has to shut down the 21 bridges leading to and out of New York to catch two cop killers.

It’s definitely a bold move as an action star who is one of the biggest and most popular superheroes on the planet. His role as Black Panther really cemented him as an actor to watch out for. Directed by Brian Kirk and produced by the acclaimed Russo Brothers, 21 Bridges aims to be a gritty crime thriller and by all the looks of it, it seems to be heading down that path.

The film will be premiering on November 22 and was written by screenwriter Adam Mervis. The cast is rounded off by Sienna Miller, J.K Simmons and acting legend Keith David. From what we can see in the trailer, the film tackles a lot of issues. Just a recap of what the film is all about, 21 Bridges follows an embattled NYPD detective (Chadwick Boseman), who is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers after uncovering a massive and unexpected conspiracy. As the night unfolds, lines become blurred on who he is pursuing, and who is in pursuit of him. When the search intensifies, extreme measures are taken to prevent the killers from escaping Manhattan as the authorities close all 21 Bridges to prevent any entry or exit from the iconic island.

Check out the trailer below.

Huawei Kirin A1-powered Watch GT2 coming to India next month

Huawei will be bringing the Kirin A1-powered wearable devices to India next month. The Kirin A1, according to Huawei, consumes low power and offers support for all sorts of sensors and connectivity to improve the wearable experience. The Kirin A1 was first showed off at IFA trade show in September, and meant to power low-power wearables like smartwatches, wireless earbuds, smart speakers and the likes. The A1 is being positioned as a means to unify Huawei’s ecosystem products.

As of now, Huawei confirmed it will launch the Huawei WatchGT2 smartwatch in India next month. Huawei also launched the FreeBuds 3 truly wireless earphones internationally, but the company has not officially clarified when it plans to launch it in India.

The Kirin A1 chip relies on ARM Cortex-M7 cores designed to consume low power. Huawei claims the chip delivers industry-leading power consumption of 10uA/MHz. It’s also the first chip for wearable devices to support Bluetooth 5.1 and Bluetooth 5.1 LE simultaneously. The A1 chip also comes with a Bluetooth processing unit, audio processing unit and a low-power application processor and independent power management unit.

On top of that, the Kirin A1 supports optical heart sensors, six-axis gyroscope, and a host of the other monitoring capabilities that should enhance the wearable experience for users. The chip will find use in sports training, home entertainment, etc.

Despite the leap in technological prowess, Huawei is still reeling from the US trade ban on doing business with US companies. The Huawei Mate 30 series that the company launched earlier this year came without Google apps and services. Huawei also did not announce any plans to launch the flagship smartphone in India. It seems the WatchGT2 and other wearable devices are being launched to keep operations rolling for the company which, along with its sister brand Honor, has otherwise ceased to launch new smartphones post the US ban.

NASA study reveals new, unexpected danger in long-term space travel

Scientists have known for quite some time now that long-term space travel takes a severe toll on an astronaut's physical health. In the past, some loss or weakening of eyesight has been observed with astronauts who went aboard the International Space Station (ISS) on expeditions lasting six months or longer. Now, however, a recent NASA study shows that there's another danger with long-term space travel: the astronaut's blood could clot, or worse, even flow in reverse.

The recent study, published in the JAMA Network and authored by Michael B. Stenger of NASA's Johnson Space Center, shows that six out of eleven ISS crew members displayed “stagnant or retrograde flow in the internal jugular vein” (clotting or reversing in blood flow) after about fifty days in space. It also says that one crew member developed an “occlusive internal jugular vein thrombus” (a blood clot) during the expedition. The internal jugular vein is responsible for collecting blood from brain and superficial regions of the face and neck.

According to a recent report by NBC News, experts believe the new finding is not necessarily a death warrant for long-term space travellers but rather an opportunity for scientists to invent necessary medical treatment. “It’s potentially a serious problem,” NBC News quoted Andrew Feinberg of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as saying. “If you get a clot in the internal jugular vein, the clot could travel to the lungs and cause a pulmonary embolism — that’s very dangerous. If that happens on a long-term mission, it could be calamitous.”

At any rate, the recent finding will certainly call into question the feasibility of long-term, long-distance space missions, such as the ones being proposed to put humans on Mars in the near future. A crewed mission to Mars and back could take up to four hundred days, even if the mission involves little or no stay on the Red Planet's surface. In recent times, NASA scientists have also expressed concerns about the risk of energetic particle radiation in long-term space missions.

Microsofts game streaming service, Project xCloud coming to India in 2020 as a preview

At XO19 held in London, Microsoft announced that Project xCloud would reach Indian shores as a preview in 2020. The registration page where users can sign up and be a part of the preview is not live in India as of writing this story. With Project xCloud, gamers will be able to stream their Xbox games from the internet to their smartphone or tablet. Along with expanding to new regions, xCloud will be available to Windows 10 PC’s in 2020 as well. Adding more features to xCloud, Microsoft has said that they are planning to integrate Project xCloud with Xbox Game Pass in 2020. This will give players access to their Game Pass library via the cloud streaming service. With all the good news, there are some questions that need answering, the most important of which is a concrete launch date and pricing.

Combining a subscription service like Game Pass with a cloud streaming service like xCloud is what we thought Google would do with Stadia. Google’s cloud streaming service looks to be heading towards a rocky launch with a number of key features missing from the service on day one. These features include Buddy Pass (the ability to invite a friend to the service if you purchased the Founders Edition bundle), family sharing and more. Not to mention the lacklustre launch lineup of games with the service.

With xCloud, Microsoft is looking to take its time ironing out the kinks before it announces a price and availability of the service. At XO19, Microsoft also announced that the company is looking to include support for Sony’s DualShock 4 controllers on xCloud next year. Other Bluetooth controllers and gamepads from Razer will also see compatibility with the service.

It looks like Microsoft wants its fingers in all aspects of gaming. If you are a console gamer then there is the Xbox One family of consoles and the upcoming Project Scarlett. If you are a PC gamer, then the company’s exclusive lineup of games, along with Game Pass is available for PC as well. If you are a smartphone gamer then you can subscribe to the company's cloud gaming service and play the games on your smartphone, when the service launches next year.

Microsoft announced a bunch of games, both exclusive and third party at XO19. However, it looks like Microsoft is saving the big guns for the Project Scarlett reveal or E3 2020. None of the games announced are heavyweights that can take on PlayStation’s lineup of exclusives that includes Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, and more. The only heavyweight coming next year is Halo Infinite which is confirmed to be a Project Scarlett launch title.

Those interested can check out all the confirmed and rumoured specs of Microsoft’s Scarlett console here.
