Realme X50 5G could launch as soon as January 5, according to a teaser

Realme X50 5G launch date is all set to be revealed tomorrow, December 24. The next Realme flagship is expected to debut as the first 5G smartphone by the company. However, past teasers have already confirmed dual-channel Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity support and inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. Realme X50 5G will also sport a 64MP primary camera. To recall, the smartphone was initially said to launch sometime before the Chinese Spring Festival that is scheduled for January 25.

The latest development comes from a Weibo post that carries a teaser image, which suggests the Realme X50 5G launch could take place on January 5. It also corroborates the recent hint provided by Realme CMO Xu Qi Chase who revealed a poster suggesting January 5 as the launch date for the Realme X50 5G. For reference, January 5 is a Sunday. Hence, the launch date could take place on January 15 since the teaser image shows a glimpse at numeric five, and the latter falls on a Tuesday.

Realme X50 5G is rumoured to feature a 6.6-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is confirmed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. The smartphone is said to come equipped with 8GB RAM. Realme has also said that all of the components inside the Realme X50 5G will be cooled by a “five-dimensional ice-cooled heat dissipation system.” According to the company, this system will cover 100 percent of all the heat-generating components. The cooling solution will also include an 8mm ultra-large liquid-cooled copper tube.

Realme X50 5G could sport a quad rear camera setup, which includes a 60-megapixel primary camera with Sony IMX686 sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter, and two 2-megapixel shooters (one for macro and one for portraits). Realme X50 is likely to have dual selfie shooters. It may include a 32-megapixel main shooter and an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter.

ISROs 2020 plans include Sun mission, Gaganyaan, Reusable Launch Vehicle test-flight and more

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has revealed its 2020 plans. Speaking to Times of India about the Organisation’s 2020 targets, ISRO chairman K Sivan has shed light on what is to come in 2020. ISRO is planning to launch a dozen key satellite missions including the high-profile interplanetary mission Aditya (sun) and first unmanned test-flight of the Gaganyaan mission, carrying a robot with human features (humanoid).

Talking about ISRO’s 2020 plans, Sivan said, “We are targeting to launch over 10 satellite missions next year. They will include advanced communication satellites GISAT 1 and GISAT-12R and earth observation satellites RISAT-2BR2 and Microsat (for surveillance). We are also targetting to launch Aditya L1 (Sun) Mission by mid-2020 and the first unmanned test-flight of Gaganyaan in December.”

The Aditya L1 Mission will be India’s first-ever solar mission. It will help scientists to study the solar Corona, which is the outer most part of the Sun’s atmosphere. It is usually hidden by the bright light of the Sun's surface. Sivan also revealed that a PSLV will be used to carry the spacecraft. The 400 KG-Class satellite will carry six scientific payloads that will be inserted in a halo orbit around the Lagrangian point 1 (L1). For reference, L1 is 1.5 million km from the Earth.

Sivan also said, “The test-flight of the reusable launch vehicle (RLV) and the first development flight of newly-developed Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV or mini-PSLV) are likely to be launched by early next year." The RLV tech will enable ISRO to reuse first and second stages of a rocket to cut costs. After injecting the satellite in its orbit, the shuttle will glide back to Earth and land on an airstrip.  Like Space X’s Falcon rocket, the first rocket stage will be recovered on a vertical landing spot on a sea.

ISRO has also mapped out the Gaganyaan mission, which includes GSLV MKIII launch vehicle that will carry a humanoid robot to space. The activities of humanoid will be monitored by the scientists so as to prepare for a manned mission later on. This is the first test flight which will be followed by a second unmanned one in July 2021 and finally the human spaceflight mission in December 2021.

Airtel Wi-Fi Calling starts rolling out in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and Kolkata

Airtel has just rolled out its VoWi-FI service across a number of states after the telecom giant first launched the service in the Delhi NCR region. As we reported earlier, the company first released the service in a select region as to test its capabilities and iron out the kinks before it went ahead and deployed the service to the rest of the country. Currently, Airtel has rolled out it’s Wi-Fi calling services in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Avneet Singh Puri, CEO of Bharti Airtel for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana said in a statement that, “ Customer interest in VoWiFi capability is incredibly high and Airtel has been working hard to bring this feature, first to the consumers in the state of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana. The launch of VoWiFi calling is further validation of the importance of Wi-Fi to customers in the technologically advanced industry.”

You can also check if your phone is compatible with the service on Airtel’s official page.

Just a bit of a refresher, the service uses Wi-fi to allow voice calls and essentially retain the clarity and fidelity of a telecom network. This may, in turn, lead to different patterns of phone usage as it virtually costs almost nothing to use the internet as a phone service. The company is working with smartphone brands across the country to make sure their devices are compatible with the service. As of now, Airtel Wi-Fi calling is compatible with Airtel Xstream Fiber home broadband but will soon be able to function with all other broadband services and Wi-Fo hotspots.

The 6GB RAM variant of the Nokia 7.2 is currently selling on Amazon.in for Rs 16,715, making it dearer to the 4GB RAM variant by less than Rs 500. The Nokia 6.2 costs Rs 13,440, and the Nokia 4.2, Rs 6,975. Some older models too, such as the Nokia 6.1 Plus, are also seeing discounted prices on Amazon.in and Flipkart.

The price is the same for both Cyan Green and Charcoal colour options. On Amazon.in, however, the Charcoal option on both variants bear a price tag of Rs 16,715 and Rs 16,290, respectively. This makes the 6GB RAM variant stupendously more attractive than the 4GB RAM variant. The Cyan Green option, on the other hand, can be bought with 6GB RAM on Amazon.in for Rs 17,633. It’s worth noting that both variants of the Nokia 7.2 come with 64GB of expandable storage space. You can read more about it here.

Samsung Galaxy S11 camera to feature 9-to-1 pixel binning

Prominent leakster Ice Universe has revealed more information about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S11, specifically pertaining to the camera. There have been rumours that Samsung would be using a 108-megapixel sensor for the S11 series, but we are now also getting details on the nature of the binning. In a tweet, the leakster says that Samsung may be going with a 9-pixel bin, that is, binning 9 pixels into 1.

The sensor being used in the Samsung Galaxy S11 series is allegedly the ISOCELL Bright HM1, which sports a 108-megapixel resolution. The individual pixels measure 0.8-microns and when 9 of them are binned together, the result will be a pixel pitch of 2.4 microns. Given how Samsung approached pixel binning on its GW1 sensor, we expect the new sensor to have a Bayer filter with a 9-to-1 arrangement. This is a better approach than using a Bayer filter with a single colour array measuring 2.4 microns. In Samsung’s approach, there are physical, 108 million individual colour filters built onto the Bayer filter, which means a true, 108MP image. The higher 9-to-1 pixel binning could also result in significantly better night shots.

There is definitely a lot of buzz around the next Samsung flagship. Up until now, there had been plenty of talk around why Samsung didn’t switch to the higher megapixel sensors for its flagship smartphones of 2019, despite the company being one of two who makes 48 and 64 megapixel sensors.

Samsung’s Galaxy S11 is poised to be a camera-centric smartphone, given that its also said to house a 48  megapixel telephoto lens. The leaked images do show a triple camera setup, but the right side of the module has so far not been revealed, and is said to house more sensors. The Samsung Galaxy S11 is definitely shaping up to be an exciting device, one worthy of looking forward to.
