Segway plans on introducing a self-balancing electric vehicle that looks like a chair at CES 2020

If you watched films like the X-Men and even Wall-E then Segway’s latest product will make a little sense to you. Dubbed the S-Pod, the drivable chair actually does look like a rather comfortable transport experience. The company and its owner, Ninebot will show off the new EV at CES 2020. With a top speed of 40kms an hour, you can be rest assured that this thing is really fast. It weighs in at about 150Kgs, which isn’t too heavy for something like this.

If you’re wondering what the S-Pod’s battery consumption looks like, it is able to travel about 70Kms on a single charge. Apparently, driving the S-Pod is much easier because the EV comes equipped with a sort of gyroscope, which balances out the S-Pod when it is motion. The company says that it was inspired by the gyrosphere from the Jurassic World films but we think that it more closely resembles the chairs used by the overweight humans in Wall-E. Which is another thing to think about. Will something like this eventually take over walking? Maybe not in the near future, but who knows that the world will look like in 30 years time.

In an exclusive with The Verge, Segway says that they plan to release the first batch of S-Pods in the third quarter of 2020 but will only be available to the public sometime in 2021. As of right now, there is no word on how much these S-Pods will cost.

Nokia could be releasing an original phone on January 25

Nokia seems to be in a bit of hot water after the delay of the Nokia 9.2 PureView. The phone is rumored to be launched much later, this year. But while the release of the device has been delayed, the company may be looking at launching a new ‘Originals’ device, sometime this month.

Just yesterday, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global (parent company of Nokia), Juho Sarvikas tweeted out an image of a pair of Adidas Originals. Why is this important? Well, the caption to the tweet may hold a few more answers. In the caption, he says, “This is the 4th year I buy new shoes in anticipation of CES and MWC and it looks like this will be the best year yet! Found this stunning pair of limited edition Adidas Originals. This can only mean that we should launch a new Nokia Original, @nokiamobile #ChineseNewYear”. The cheeky tweet draws parallels between the Adidas Originals and Nokia’s Originals. This could mean that Nokia may release one of their older phones, in a revamped avatar. Just like they’ve done before.

This is the 4th year I buy new shoes in anticipation of #CES and #MWC and it looks like this will be the best year yet! Found this stunning pair of limited edition #adidas #originals. This can only mean that we should launch a new #nokia #original @nokiamobile #ChineseNewYear pic.twitter.com/JJmizUg3ke

— Juho Sarvikas (@sarvikas) January 4, 2020

Juho also added the Chinese New Year hashtag. The Asian festival falls on the 25th of January and that is the date we could be seeing one of Nokia’s Original phones to be making an appearance. As of now, there is no official word on what exactly the Nokia original will look like but stay tuned to Digit as we will definitely be following up on this story.

— PUBG MOBILE (@PUBGMOBILE) January 3, 2020

The requirements for filling in the survey are pretty simple. Participants will have to agree to all terms and conditions and must be older than 14. They will then be directed to answer questions with regards to their experience. This includes current account level, highest rank, user ID and more. Players who are selected will be contacted by the PUBG Mobile team via email.

If selected, players will get to try out new features of the game and provide their valuable insights to the developers before the features are rolled out to the general populace. However, players should also understand that as a beta tester, they will be expected to provide feedback on a regular basis.

Of course, players could also simply download the Beta version of the game to their Android devices. But this version of the game is no longer available from the play store and players interested in playing this version would have to side load the game.

Apple could launch not one but two iPhone SE 2 models in 2020: Report

That Apple has started focussing on making more affordable iPhone models became abundantly clear when it suffixed the costlier iPhone model with a ‘Pro’ badge back in September last year. It only stands to reason then that when a report claiming Apple could launch not one but two iPhone SE 2 models this year crops up, we think there's some truth to it. According to Taiwanese media company DigiTimes, Apple could launch as many as six iPhones in 2020, two of which are expected to succeed the iPhone SE.

According to the report, sources from Taiwan's handset supply chain say, “Apple is likely to launch as many as six iPhone devices in 2020”. Four out of the six devices will sport an OLED screen, while the remaining two will feature an LCD screen. “This new member will be an upgraded version of the widely speculated ‌iPhone‌ SE2 featuring a 5.5- or 6.1-inch LCD display and available at the end of 2020 or in earlier 2021, said the sources,” cites MacRumors in its report. Taiwanese backend LCD driver IC packaging company Chipbond Technology has reportedly received a COF packaging order for both LCD-screen models.

Popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the successor to the iPhone SE will greatly resemble the iPhone 8 and that a ‘Plus’ version of the same will arrive in 2021. The iPhone SE 2, if that's what Apple chooses to call it, could sport a 4.7-inch display with noticeable bezels all around and a Touch ID-enabled home button near the chin. It will most likely continue to sport the iPhone 8's single rear camera setup but get a processor upgrade to Apple's A13 chip along with 3GB of RAM. The iPhone 8 is currently on sale in India with 64GB of storage space for Rs 36,999.

Launched in early 2016 and reportedly discontinued in July 2019, the Apple iPhone SE was essentially a repackaged iPhone 5s with upgraded internals. Apple launched this model as an affordable iPhone as there was still a considerable demand for the iPhone 5/5s’ compact 4-inch screen. The iPhone SE was powered by Apple's A9 chip with 2GB of RAM. Internal storage ranged from 16GB to 64GB. Sold in Space Gray, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold colour options, the iPhone SE was home to a relatively tiny 1624mAh battery. CES 2020: Hyundai to showcase flying car concept, Honda to demo new mobility tech

With this year's CES (Consumer Electronics Show) just around the corner, automakers have begun to announce what visitors can expect from their stalls. Hyundai, which is poised to launch the Aura mid-range saloon in India, will showcase what sounds like the concept version of a flying car. Honda, on the other hand, has an array of new mobility technologies to demonstrate. Just so you know, CES 2020 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada from January 7 to 10.

Built as part of Hyundai's Purpose Built Vehicle (PBV) initiative to create unique, highly customisable vehicles that drive themselves, Hyundai's flying car concept is called Personal Air Vehicle (PAV). The popular Korean car manufacturer says it will work in combination with its Urban Air Mobility (UAM) landscape to free motorists from road congestion. From what the company says in its press release, we believe it will be a new kind of hovercraft for the common road user.

Japanese car maker Honda, on the other hand, has a long list of new mobility technologies to show off. For example, the Honda Energy Management Concept is designed to show how portable automotive battery packs can double as a power source for homes. Honda will also showcase the ESMO (Electric Smart Mobility) personal mobility concept vehicle for the first time in the US. SAFE SWARM is a prototype safety system that can warn drivers of pedestrians that aren't in direct line of sight around corners.

Honda's list of concepts for this year's CES doesn't end there. Part of the Honda Xcelerator open innovation programme, Smartphone as Brain involves clever use of a smartphone in a road vehicle to reduce the user's concentration while operating certain vehicle controls. Houndify, which is made in collaboration with SoundHound, is Honda's version of Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. It will respond to the custom wake word, ‘OK, Honda’. Apart from this, Honda will also showcase some new mobility technologies that involve the use of virtual reality and augmented reality.
