Realme UI features detailed, comes with Animated Wallpapers, Screen-off Display and more

Realme UI’s existence was confirmed by CEO Madhav Sheth back in October 2019. Since then, there have been a lot of speculation regarding the new UI from Realme. Now, the company has detailed its features and shared a few images to give users an idea of what’s coming their way. Here is all you need to know about the Realme UI.

As per the details shared by the company, the Realme UI is like the ColorOS 7 that adds proprietary features such as an improved 3-Finger Screenshot option and a Focus Mode. Realme UI will bring an option to customize the Icon style as well as the size. Moreover, users will be able to apply third party fonts with the stock launcher. The icon styles include Square, Circle, Sqcircle etc, similar to what we have seen with stock Android 10.

Realme UI also adds Dual Earphone connection feature that enables users to use wired and wireless Bluetooth earphones at the same time. It will allow Bluetooth and Wired earphones to receive the same media audio but calls will be diverted to the Bluetooth earphones. Coming to the next feature, Screen-Off Display is Realme’s take on Always-On Display.

Realme UI includes a system-wide dark mode as well. Further, the company is introducing animated wallpapers with Realme UI. The UI  also includes 11 new wallpapers that are touted to be inspired by natural elements - matching distinct colour schemes of the interface. However, we will have to wait for some time to learn the functionality of this feature.

Realme UI also brings an option to restrict other apps to read Call History, Contacts, Messages, and other data. It will go under “Private Information Protection.” The company is also introducing a new smart sidebar with Realme UI. Users can add shortcuts for various actions as well as Apps to the sidebar.

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter launched with 95+km range starting at Rs 1 lakh

The iconic ‘Hamara Bajaj’ scooter is back in town but in an all-new colourful avatar. Bajaj has officially launched the Chetak electric scooter in India at a starting price of Rs 1 lakh. The new Chetak, which was announced in late October last year, delivers a range of over 95 kilometres on its all-electric powertrain. The scooter's 3kWh battery can be recharged fully in five hours. Available in two trims (namely Urbane and Premium) and in four colour options, the new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will be open for orders starting tomorrow at four KTM dealerships across Pune and thirteen KTM dealerships across Bengaluru.

The new Chetak, which has for quite some time now been criticised by Indian scooter fans for resembling the Vespa too closely, is built on an all-metal body. The Premium trim of the scooter costs Rs 1,15,000 and offers a metallic paint finish. The Chetak's powertrain includes a 3kWh IP67-rated battery and a 4080W motor that can produce up to 16Nm of torque. Bajaj says the battery is good for up to 70,000 kilometres. The scooter comes bundled with a Chetak Charger that can be used with a domestic 15A wall socket to power the scooter up. In addition, the scooter sports its own USB charging port for juicing up smartphones.

Since some of the elements on the new Chetak can be managed remotely using Bajaj's proprietary smartphone app, the scooter comes with keyless ignition. According to Car and Bike's report, Bajaj's app can provide the user with essential information such as the scooter's location and battery charge status. In addition, the scooter is equipped with all-LED lighting, 12-inch alloy wheels, and a fully digital instrument cluster. The scooter has three drive modes, namely Eco, Sport, and even Reverse, which the company says will help while parking.

According to Bajaj, the new Chetak requires minimal maintenance. The scooter has a service interval of 12,000 kilometres/1 year and an overall warranty period (inclusive of the internal lithium-ion battery) of 50,000 kilometres/3 years. According to the report, the new Chetak will be built at Bajaj's Chakan plant in Maharashtra by an all-female workforce. If you're interested in placing an order for the new Bajaj Chetak, you can head to the official Chetak website by clicking here. You'll be asked to put down an amount of Rs 2,000 for the order. Deliveries of the new Bajaj Chetak are expected to start by the end of February.

PlayStation will skip E3 2020 and that makes us very sad

PlayStation has confirmed that it will skip E3 2020. This is the second year in a row that the company is missing out on the world's largest gaming event.  The company told Gamesindustry.biz that, “it does not feel the vision for the event is right for what it has planned for this year. Instead, it will attend 'hundreds' of consumer events to showcase upcoming games for PS4 and PS5”. Last year, 2019, Sony skipped E3 2019 because it didn’t have anything to add that would warrant a big event. Considering the big reveal of 2018, this made sense. However, note that E3 2013, where Sony highlighted details of the PS4 is considered one of the best E3 presentations. Sony has been showcasing at E3 since 1995 so it is sad to see the company absent from the event 2 years in a row.

A Sony Interactive Entertainment spokesperson said, “After thorough evaluation SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020. We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year.”

Sony has said it will partake in “hundreds” of consumer events to showcase games for the PS4 and PS5. Which “hundred” events these are is yet to be seen. Sony took the stage at CES 2020 to show off the PS5 logo. The more valuable information highlighted at the event wasn't the logo, but the fact that key features of the PS5 are yet to be revealed.

The SIE spokesperson goes on to say, “We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favourite content. We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans.”

Sony has taken quite the unconventional route to reveal some key features of the PS5. An exclusive Wired article was the primary source of information for official details of the PS5. You can read the information revealed here.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is gearing up to reveal more information about the Xbox Series X at E3. You can read more about the official information about the Series X here.
