Apple iPhone 12 screen sizes, RAM capacity and more detailed in new leaks

According to a new report, the two higher-end iPhone 12's will sport 6GB RAM whereas the lower-end iPhone 12 will have 4GB RAM. For reference, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have 4GB of RAM. 2020 iPhones are expected to be unveiled in September 2020. In addition to the RAM capacity, the report reveals different screen sizes for the 2020 iPhones. The iPhone 12 series is already expected to support mmWave 5G. It is, however, unclear whether the devices will work with sub-6GHz 5G.

The latest development comes from MacRumors. While iPhone 11 was launched in three varieties with the regular iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, the report claims Apple will launch four iPhone 12 models in September. As reported by MacRumors, here is a list of 2020 iPhone screen sizes, number of camera lenses and RAM capacity:

6.7-inch iPhone: triple-lens rear camera with 3D sensing and 6GB RAM 6.1-inch iPhone: triple-lens rear camera with 3D sensing and 6GB RAM 6.1-inch iPhone: dual-lens rear camera and 4GB RAM 5.4-inch iPhone: dual-lens rear camera and 4GB RAM

The 5.4-inch iPhone leaked recently and it is expected to be an iPhone 8 successor. It could be called the iPhone 9. While it was earlier expected to launch alongside iPhone SE 2 in Q1 of 2020, it could end up launching alongside the iPhone 12 family. The iPhone 9 is expected to feature a notch on top of its display and the renders suggest that there might not be a Touch ID fingerprint scanner on the less-expensive variant.

Meanwhile, iPhone SE 2 is expected to resemble the iPhone 8 in terms of design and will sport a 4.7-inch display. It is tipped to retain the Touch ID home button. Further, it is rumoured to be powered by Apple’s A13 chip.

Alleged Huawei P40 renders tip triple rear cameras, dual punch-hole display and more

New renders of the Huawei P40 have shown up online. To recall, last month we saw the first CAD-based renders of the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro smartphones. However, those renders were dark and didn’t give us too much information, but revealed that the P40 duo will have a large, rectangular camera module on the back. A much clearer render has appeared online now. It gives us a look at the rear as well as front of the Huawei P40.

The latest development comes from 91mobiles. It showcases a dual pill-shaped punch-hole display. We can see three camera lenses at the back housed in a vertical rectangular module. Huawei P40 is rumoured to sport a main + ultrawide camera on the back plus a 3D ToF sensor. However, if the render is to be believed, the third camera actually has an 80mm telephoto lens (3x zoom).

Huawei P40 render

There is no headphone jack seen in the renders. While there was a 3.5mm headphone jack in the Huawei P30 located at the bottom, there is none in the render. However, we are yet to see the top of the device. The Huawei P30 is tipped to be  powered by the Kirin 990 chipset (probably the 5G variant).

Earlier rumours have revealed that the Huawei P40 could come equipped with a 6.2-inch 2K OLED display. The phone is likely to run Android 10. However, because of the ban on doing business with U.S. companies, Huawei will be shipping the phone with its own Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) instead of Google Mobile Services (GMS). The company did the same with the Mate 30 series last year.

The Huawei P40 has been confirmed to be launched in March 2020 by Huawei CEO Richard Yu. While the P40 series is expected to pack some stellar hardware, whether they will see a successful uptake by consumers outside China will have to be seen once the phones are launched.

PUBG PC Season 6 adds new Karakin map, Motor Glider and more: Could these be added to PUBG Mobile

PUBG or Player Unknown’s Battleground is one of the most famous battle royale games that are currently available. The title commenced its journey from the PC platform and slowly expanded to Xbox, PlayStation and smartphones. Now, Season 6.1 of PUBG PC is live on the test server and the game’s developers have detailed the new additions that will take place with the update. The new patch brings a new map, the first aerial vehicle, new weapons, gameplay improvements and much more. While we will detail all the new additions below, there’s also a good chance that some of these features could soon make their way to the PUBG Mobile universe.

PUBG Karakin map

The biggest addition to PUBG PC with Season 6.1 is the new Karakin map. It’s a 2x2 km map that is aimed at introducing high-paced action to a small area. “It’s an arid, rocky environment that provides wide-open terrain and challenging engagements. It’s small, fast, and dangerous: Expect the tension of Miramar combined with the pace of Sanhok. Karakin is a 64 players map,” says PUBG in a blog post. Another notable bit about the new map is that there is a Black Zone because of which the map’s layout changes in every match.

The PUBG Karakin map also features Black Zone, which is unlike regular red zones where one can take shelter inside buildings. Black Zone is meant to raze buildings to ruins and push players out into the open, away from the safety of cover. Karakin will replace Vikendi temporarily in public matches but Vikendi will still be playable in custom games.

New vehicle and weapons

Motor Gliders are also being introduced in-game, which will be the first aerial vehicle in PUBG PC. Ten of these gliders will spawn across Erangel and Miramar, at 40 ‘potential’ locations. The vehicle can carry a pilot and a passenger, who can shoot and use any weapon from the backseat. The Motor Glider spawns without gas and one will need to fuel up before taking off.

PUBG players will also get access to Sticky Bombs, which is exclusive to the Karakin map. The map will feature Breach Points where these bombs can be used to change the battle’s tide. Some walls and floors can be reduced to rubble with a Sticky Bomb and the devs have also integrated secret areas in the map, which can be accessed with the weapon for accessing loot.

Will these features be added to PUBG Mobile?

The aforementioned key features that are being rolled out with PUBG PC are surely something to look forward to. However, will any of these make their way over to the game’s mobile version? If we take a look at the game’s history, then it would not be incorrect to assume that at least some of these features might end up in PUBG Mobile. There are many weapons and vehicles like G36C, Tukshai, and more, which were first made available in PUBG PC and later were rolled out for PUBG Mobile.

Bose shutters 119 stores across the world in light of e-commerce growth

With the world moving towards a more e-commerce-based shopping economy, it looks like a bunch of companies have to bear the brunt of changing trends. The latest brand to fall prey to the shifting shopping trends is Bose. The audio giant has now shut down a number of stores in North America, Europe, Australia and Japan. A large number of employees are also said to have been let go as a result of the shutdown.

In a report by The Verge, the company has said that its products are “increasingly purchased through e-commerce” which is why these retail stories have been shuttered. Back in 1993, the company opened its first physical retail store and has only been growing since. These Bose stores were places where consumers could go and try out the latest in audio gear before buying them. Users could find noise-cancelling headphones, smart speakers and even sunglasses with earbuds in these stories and try them out before purchasing them. But as the world moves towards a more e-commerce based shopping trend, these stories have fallen to the wayside, so it isn’t that strange that Bose decided to close them down.

Bose have not revealed any other details regarding the closure yet. Colette Burke, Vice President of Global Sales, Bose, said, “Originally, our retail stores gave people a way to experience, test, and talk to us about multi-component, CD and DVD-based home entertainment systems. At the time, it was a radical idea, but we focused on what our customers needed, and where they needed it — and we’re doing the same thing now.”

A total of 119 Bose stores have been shut across North America, Australia, Europe and Japan.
