Xiaomi launches Mi Router 4C with four antennae, up to 300Mbps speed and more for Rs 999

Xiaomi has launched a successor to its Mi Router 3C. The Mi Router 4C supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band and offers up to 300Mbps speeds. While the router has been made available in India now, it was first launched in China in July last year. The Mi Router 4C is priced at Rs 999 in India. It is made available in a single White colour option. 

The Mi Router 4C comes with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 that offers speeds of up to 300Mbps. It has four omnidirectional antennae. The router is powered by MediaTek MT7628N processor. It comes equipped with 64MB DDR2 RAM and 16MB Nor Flash ROM. It works with Mi Wi-Fi app that is compatible with both Android and iOS phones. The app lets users view and manage router settings remotely. It also offers parental controls to manage what children can and cannot view.

According to Xiaomi, users can connect with up to 64 devices, which is up to eight times more than typical routers. There is also a QoS (Quality of Service) tool that helps users manage and allocate bandwidth as per their requirement. The Mi Router 4C is 195x178.9x107mm in size.

As mentioned before, Mi Router 4C is priced at Rs 999. It can be purchased through Mi.com wherein an estimated delivery of up to 3 days is listed. If the user wishes to avail one-day delivery, a charge of Rs. 49 is levied.

OnePlus could foray into IoT and wearables market, foldable phone not coming anytime soon

OnePlus started off as a smartphone brand, ventured into the television market recently and it could now be looking to expand even further. The company could foray into the IoT and wearable market soon. While the smartphone industry is moving forward towards foldable phones, a OnePlus foldable phone is not coming anytime soon.

In an interview with OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, ET asked him the products that OnePlus could release in future. He said that OnePlus is focusing on “seamless connectivity among those spaces where mobile experience is most critical.” He added, “We are paying very close attention to IoT (Internet of Things) devices and wearables.” The company’s vision is to make products that give users a seamlessly connected experience by creating an ecosystem of connected spaces. Hence, we could see a wearable device from OnePlus soon. 

While the mobile industry is looking forward to introducing foldable displays on various devices including smartphones and laptops, OnePlus CEO says he sees foldable phones as more conceptual. “It is a screen technology and not a tremendous technical achievement.” Citing sale numbers of the current foldable phones, Lau says the technology is not driving value to users. However, if the technology expands in the long-term, there could be a potential for OnePlus making a foldable phone.

In terms of smartphone innovation, the CEO says, “there will be an improvement in user experience and that will come from a focus on seamless connectivity which is a focus on across the industry.” Further, the company is looking at localization of services in India. While OnePlus Pay is a start, the company is not set on other services yet.

OnePlus is also considering making India the global base for its 5G efforts including device exports and R&D. OnePlus plans to increase its employee base from 300 to 1000 in India in the next two years.

Fornite for the iPad just received an update that adds support for 120 frames per second

Fortnite for the iPad Pro just received a massive upgrade in the form of higher frame rates giving it a massive performance boost. The update adds support for 120 frames per second which gives the game a buttery smooth visual style. As of right now, the feature is only supported by the iPad Pro 11 and the iPad Pro 12.9. Both these devices come with a Liquid Retina display that is capable of displaying 120HZ refresh rates which make it ideal for this update. 

The only drawback to this is that the graphical settings for Fortnite will be turned down to ‘Medium’.This will reduce the resolution of the game but that is sort of expected as running the game at 120 frames per second is not feasible with all the graphic settings turned up to ‘Epic’. The ‘high’ and ‘epic’ settings on Fortnite come with 60fps and 30fps, respectively. Another upgrade to the game is support that allows users to click on the L3 and R3 buttons on a controller that is supported by iOS. 

There have been mods out that can push the game up to 120 frames per second, but it is not advisable to use modded software on the game as it does violate the Terms of Service. This could get your account banned so be careful. Another issue that may plague players not on iOS, is that the game may be unfair to people playing on 30 frames per second or even 60fps.
