Poco F1 receives MIUI 11 based on Android 10

Users of the popular Poco F1 smartphone will be glad to hear that their handset is now receiving a new major software update. The update, which is stable and currently rolling out to users around the globe in phases, upgrades the proprietary MIUI software on the device to MIUI 11. The new version is based on the Android 10 mobile operating system that Google announced in September 2019. If you own a Poco F1, you should see an update notification pop up shortly. To check if the update is available manually, head to Settings > About phone >System update and tap Check for updates.

According to a screenshot of the update prompt shared on the Mi Community, the update contains the version number ‘11.0.4.0QEJMIXM’. Since the update is 1.9GB  in size, we recommend you switch to a reliable Wi-Fi network before downloading it so you don't exceed your daily mobile data limit. According to the changelog published by Xiaomi, the update contains the much-awaited Android 10 software upgrade along with a few fixes that rectify problems with the notification panel and status bar. Users should now be able to open the notification panel even while using the Second Space feature.

The update also packs a fix for an issue that caused overlapping of images in scrolling screenshots. It also contains some software optimisations for the inbuilt Game Turbo feature that boosts the device's performance while gaming. As you'll recall, the Poco F1 was popularly known to feature Xiaomi's Liquid Cooling technology at the time of its launch back in August 2018. It was later revealed that the technology essentially consists of a copper pipe that takes heat away from the processor using a vapour chamber.

Billed as a ‘flagship killer’, the Poco F1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage space. It has a 6.18-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2246 pixels. The rear camera setup consists of a 12MP primary sensor with an aperture of f/1.9 and a 5MP depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. The selfie camera, which is housed in a thick notch on top of the display, is a 20MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. The device is powered by a 4000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. You can read our review of the Poco F1 here.

Xbox Series X prototype leaks online, reveals rear port layout

Twitter user @Doug_DragoX has posted a picture of the front and the back of the prototype Xbox Series X. The images do seem believable simply because of the serial number at the back, and the fact that Xbox head, Phill Spencer has said that he has the console sitting under his TV. Since the look of the Series X was revealed at the Game Awards 2019 along with Hellblade: Senua’s Saga, one can believe that the leaked images are real. From what we can see, the front looks in line with what was showcased. We have a slit for the disc drive above which is the sync button for the controller. There is also a USB port and the Xbox logo shaped power button on the front. Moving to the back, we have ample ventilation.  For connectivity, there is the power port which looks like it will have the same power cable as the Xbox One X, an HDMI port, two USB ports, an optical port and a big slit which is presumably the service port. There is also a Kensington lock port at the back.

At the back of the Series X, we have the serial number as well as text which reads, “Xbox Product name placeholder” and “Prototype - not for sale”. From the handle space at the back, it looks like one will be able to open the console as well, but whether this will be consumer accessible is yet to be seen.

To recap, Microsoft will launch the Series X console in 2020 and Halo Infinite will be one of the launch titles for the console. The specific hardware specifications of the console are still unknown, but Microsoft has said that the console will support hardware-enabled Ray-Tracing, a new fast SSD and run on AMD hardware customized for the console. We can expect more details at E3 2020, as Microsoft has said that they will be present at the event.

The one company that is missing E3 2020 is Sony. This is the second time Sony is skipping E3. The company has revealed some information about the upcoming PS5 and you can read more about it here. PS5 dev kits have also leaked online along with the new redesigned PS5 controller, and you can check out the devkits here. Sony is still not calling the new controller Dualshock 5, and we think that the naming of the controller will happen at the rumoured Feb 12 reveal event.

All eyes are on Sony and Microsoft’s every move as both companies plan to launch their next generations consoles in time for the 2020 holidays.

Purported Huawei P40 Pro live photos leaked, revealing curved display

Alleged live images of Huawei P40 Pro have surfaced online. The photos of the phone appear to be shot in a subway, presumably in the hands of one of the employees who is testing it.  The images show Huawei P40 Pro’s display that is seen to sport a dual hole-punch display with the cutouts placed on the upper left corner of the screen. The P40 Pro is expected to launch alongside a regular P40 and a P40 Pro Premium Edition. It is tipped to pack a quad rear camera setup.

The latest development comes from Digital Chat Station on Weibo who leaked the photos but removed them soon after. However, the images were reshared by another user on Weibo. The alleged live images of Huawei P40 Pro showcase phone's curved edged display and dual selfie camera cutouts. While the top portion is concealed by a case, it is rumoured to have curve edges. Further, the rear of the purported Huawei P40 Pro is sealed by the case.

Huawei is said to use ceramic in the build of P40 Pro. Huawei P40 Pro will reportedly come with a 52MP image sensor (1/1.33”). Another leak suggests that this sensor will be a custom design by Sony and will feature “16-in-1” technology. The company is rumoured to put the “Quad Quad Bayer” sensor and it will do 4-in-1 conversions to reach the 16-in-1 stage.  Huawei P40 Pro is tipped to come with a 10x optical zoom camera. For this, the company is said to use a dual prism design (current periscope cams have only one prism).

Huawei P40 Pro is tipped to come equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. It could be powered by the Kirin 990 5G chipset. The smartphone may offer a 12GB RAM variant as well. Huawei is expected to launch the P40 series in March.

Twitter for Androids latest app update causes constant crashes: Heres what might fix it

Twitter recently rolled out a new update for its Android app, which is apparently causing it to crash as soon as it boots up. Several users complained about the issue on the microblogging platform and soon after, the official Twitter Support account tweeted about the issue. The tweet reads, “We’re investigating a problem with the latest version of our Android app that causes it to crash immediately once it’s opened. If you use Twitter for Android, we suggest not updating it until we let you know it's fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience!” We suggest our readers to hold off on updating their Twitter app on Android to avoid the issue.

Twitter Android app crash fix

In case you have already updated to the latest version and are facing the problem, here’s a way that might make the app work. The first way to try and fix the app, which worked for us, is to clear app data and cache. One can do this by heading over to their phone settings, navigating to the apps section and tapping on the Twitter app listing. Here, head over to storage and select the option to clear data and cache. Do note that you may need to login into the app again after removing data and cache. Try booting the app again and it might just work. Another way is to simply uninstall and reinstall the Twitter app.

Let us know if the aforementioned methods helped you access the Twitter app in case it was crashing for you. In other Twitter news, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey rejected the possibility of a long-requested feature, which is an edit button for tweets. In a video Q&A with Wired, Dorsey said there won’t be an edit button for tweets. As per a previous report, Twitter believes that rolling out an edit button would mean user’s will not spend as much time thinking about what they tweet as they do now. There’s a real possibility that users will be slack in terms of what they tweet if an edit button is provided. You can read more about this here.

Samsung is all set to introduce its next flagship lineup - Galaxy S20 series - alongside the next foldable phone - Galaxy Z Flip - on February 11. However, the leaks just won’t stop coming. This time, pricing information for the upcoming phones have leaked online. Samsung Galaxy S20 5G series’ starting price is said to be between €900-1000. It may go up to €1300 for the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.

The latest development comes from tipster Max Weinbach. He took Twitter to reveal the pricing of all the upcoming smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S20 5G could be priced around €900-1000. On the other hand, Galaxy S20+ 5G is tipped to cost €1050-1100, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G may begin at €1300. While this is the rumoured pricing of the 5G models, the 4G variants are said to cost €100 less.

Hence, the Samsung Galaxy S20 4G variant, that could be coming to India may cost $750 (approx Rs 53,400). Samsung Galaxy S20+ 4G is tipped to cost $850 (approx Rs 60,500) and the Galaxy S20 Ultra 4G could cost $1100 (approx Rs 78,300).

Coming to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, the foldable phone may cost €1400, which translates to roughly Rs (1,10,500). The Galaxy Z Flip is tipped to feature a 6.7-inch display. It could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The folding phone is said to pack a 3300mAh battery and sport a 12MP main + ultra-wide camera. It could come equipped with a 10MP selfie shooter.

Samsung Galaxy S20 5G models are said to be powered by the Exynos 990 chipset. The trio is rumoured to have support for 120Hz refresh rate. Other similarities between the three phones include AKG-tuned Dolby Atmos speakers, 128GB of base internal storage with 1TB storage expansion capacity and IP68 water resistance.

So just heard S20 prices. Expect these to be lower than listed but at the moment we are expecting: S20 5G: €900-1000 S20+ 5G: €1050-1100 S20 Ultra 5G: €1300 Galaxy Z Flip is supposed to be about €1400 but I expect that to change before launch.
