PUBG Mobile King Fighter event features Black Cat outfit reward, crate coupon and more: All you need to know

PUBG Mobile is one of the most popular battle royale games currently available on mobile platforms. While its rivals are trying to bridge the gap by increasing their active user base, PUBG Mobile developers keep releasing new events and modes to keep players hooked. PUBG Mobile is now hosting a new event where players of the title can win some in-game goodies. Dubbed the Mobile King Fighter event, it is a mini-game with daily challenges and tasks for players. Those who successfully complete given tasks will be rewarded with various in-game goodies like silver to purchase items in the shop, paint spray can, classic crate scrap coupon and a Black Cat suit.

How to participate and win PUBG Mobile King Fighter event

The PUBG Mobile King Fighter event is a ten-day event starting from February 18, 2020, and participating in it is quite simple too. The main objective of the event is to defeat a ‘King Fighter’ in-game character by performing missions, which are refreshed daily. The first step is to complete daily missions. This includes logging in, completing one match in any mode, ranking in the top eight at least once while playing in Classic mode, and surviving for a total of 40 minutes in Classic mode. After completion, players will be rewarded with energy and coins, which players need to collect by tapping on the collect option after every mission.

Complete missions, collect energy and attack the enemy. Defeat the King Fighter and get this vibrant Black Cat Set in PUBG MOBILE! Hurry, it's time limited event.#PUBGMOBILE pic.twitter.com/cRk4V9t4TL

— PUBG MOBILE INDIA (@PUBGMOBILE_IN) February 20, 2020

The next step is utilising the energy you collected by completing missions to defeat the ‘King Fighter’ character we mentioned above. One can perform three different attacks on the character and every attack will use up some set amount of energy. Obviously, if you perform an attack that consumes more energy, the inflicted damage will be greater. For example, an attack requiring 20 energy will reduce 100 points from the fighter while 25 energy utilising hit attack reduces 400 points. There’s also an attack that consumes 30 energy points and reduces 800 points. The opponent has a total of 10,000 points.

There are also three milestones along the way of defeating the opponent in this new event. When players inflict enough damage to lower the character's points to 9,600, they will win 10 silver that can be used to purchase items in the shop, in-game. On reaching 6,600 points and 3,600 points, one will win a spray can and a classic crate scrap coupon respectively. Finally, when the opponent’s points are reduced to zero, the player will win a Black Cat suit for 10 days.

By completing missions, players can earn between 10 and 75 energy points and all rewards will be directly added to their inventory. The Black Cat suit is a limited-time reward, which can be used for only 10 days.

Realme X update brings Wi-Fi calling, support for upcoming Realme UI and more

If you’re a Realme X user, you have more than one reason to install the latest software update that is expected to hit the handset shortly. Not only does it carry the latest February 2020 security patch and support for Wi-Fi calling but it also serves as a minimum requirement for the upcoming Realme UI software upgrade. Since it’s a phased roll-out, you can expect to see the update notification pop up on your Realme X anytime now or look for it manually in Settings. Alternatively, you can head to Realme’s website to download and install the update yourself.

Bearing the version number ‘RMX1901EX_11_A.12’, the new software update for the Realme X comes in at 2.79GB. Since the download size is quite large, we recommend you switch to a reliable Wi-Fi network before starting the process. According to the changelog published by Realme, the update contains system enhancements to support some third-party applications better along with fixes for some known bugs and tweaks to improve overall system stability.

If you’re an Airtel or Jio customer, you’ll be happy to know that the software update also brings support for Wi-Fi calling to your Realme X. When enabled in Settings, Wi-Fi calling (or VoWi-Fi) improves call quality by routing the call through a connected Wi-Fi network instead of using mobile data. If you’re an Airtel customer, it’s important to note that you must first enable VoLTE before attempting to enable Wi-Fi calling. If you use Jio, however, you can go ahead and enable Wi-Fi calling directly as VoLTE is enabled by default.

“This is not realme UI update. This update is required before realme UI update rolls out. Information for realme UI update will be given as and when the rollout starts,” clarifies the Chinese electronics manufacturer in its changelog. Realme UI is a major overhaul to the ColorOS software that Realme has been using so far in many of its smartphones. The Realme C3 is one of the first models in the company’s stable to use Realme UI. Other models, including the Realme X, are expected to receive it in the coming weeks. Read our review of the Realme X here.

Apple may soon allow you to set your own default apps on iOS and iPadOS

Apple is reportedly considering opening up iOS and iPadOS in order to allow its users to select their own default apps. The company may also be working on allowing third-party music services like Spotify to run directly on the HomePod smart speaker. The changes could arrive as soon as later this year with iOS 14 and an update to the HomePod’s firmware.

The latest development comes from a report from Bloomberg. According to the report, Apple may soon allow users to set third-party apps as the iPhone and iPad’s default web browsers and email clients. For reference, ever since the launch of the Apple App Store, the company has not allowed third-party apps to be used as default apps. Moreover, it raised concerns from lawmakers probing potential antitrust violations since it made it difficult for other developers to compete.

The company’s devices currently ship with over 30 in-house apps installed. While Apple giving its apps the extra advantage is not surprising, it can be a bit annoying at times.

Apple is yet to make an official comment on the report.

The report further goes on to say that Apple might also allow third-party music apps like Spotify and Pandora to play on its HomePods. As of now, users can only play music from these apps on a HomePod through AirPlay via another Apple device. To recall, last year, Spotify filed an official complaint with the European Commission against Apple for giving itself an unfair advantage.

However, the whole thing is just a rumor, as of now.

Google Play bans hundreds of Android Apps for serving Disruptive Ads

Google has removed 600 Android apps from its Play Store. The company announced through a blog post that these apps were serving “disruptive” ads. The apps have been removed from ad monetisation platforms Google AdMob and Google Ad Manager for violating its disruptive ad policy and disallowed interstitial policy. For reference, the policy does not allow ads that display when an app is not in use or that trick users to click on ads by mistake.

Per Bjorke, Senior Product Manager, Ad Traffic Quality, Google wrote in a post, “this is an invasive maneuver that results in poor user experiences that often disrupt key device functions and this approach can lead to unintentional ad clicks that waste advertiser spend.”

According to Google, these ads are “displayed to users in unexpected ways, including impairing or interfering with the usability of device functions.” Hence, this helped enforce the latest removal. Google is planning to bring new technologies to detect and prevent “emerging threats that can generate invalid traffic, including disruptive ads, and to find more ways to adapt and evolve” the platform.

Most of the apps removed from the Play Store were mainly made by developers from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and Singapore. However, the names of specific developers and apps have not been released.

Moreover, Bjorke told BuzzFeed News that Google had started refunding the brands whose ads were displayed through disruptive ads.

It is not the first time that Google has taken this kind of action. To recall, it banned the Chinese developer CooTek last July for using an adware plug-in that sent users aggressive ads even when an app was not in use.
