Microsoft will hold Office 365 press event online on March 20

With the world reeling from the coronavirus, it seems that major companies are still going through with their press events, although, slightly altered to online presentations. One of these companies is Microsoft. The company is looking to hold an Office 365 press event on March 30. Microsoft usually holds these kinds of events in New York City but with the Covid-19 outbreak, the software giant will now shift the presentation online. The digital event will take place at 8 AM Pacific Time/11 AM Eastern Time on March 30.

From what we know and can surmise, Microsoft should be announcing more news regarding the future for Microsoft Office 356 as well as a few more apps that could be aimed at bringing about more productivity. According to a report from The Verge, Microsoft could bundle all this under the ‘Life’ banner. The company has been hard at work working on a “for life” version of Microsoft Teams. These include features and options such as sending locations, document sharing, shared family calendars and more. In this day and age of the Coronavirus, these apps could see much more use.

There isn’t much that’s known about new Surface hardware as yet but from earlier patters, Microsoft refreshes and announces new Surface hardware around this time of the year. But, according to the same report, there isn’t any news popping out of the Surface house.

The company has already revealed that it will shift its Build developers conference online. The conference was supposed to be held in Seattle but the virus outbreak has derailed major plans everywhere.

Apples China website accidentally leaks four new iPad Pro models

If you are looking to pick up a new iPad Pro, you may want to hold your horses. If information circulating the internet is to be believed, then we could have new iPad Pros, soon. According to information circulating the internet, the Apple China support document accidentally listed four new iPad Pros. According to digital trends, “The listings since then have been taken down and match two of Apple’s filings in the Eurasian Economic Commission database.” The listing which has now been removed lists two 11-inch and two 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. They have model number A2228, A2229, A2231, and A2233 respectively. There is no information on whether these model numbers represent the Wi-Fi only or cellular variants of the tablet.

Apple’s iPad Pro upgrade has been rumoured for some time now. According to analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, the new iPad Pros are expected to come with a triple rear camera setup capable of 3D sensing for Augmented Reality. This will be similar to what we’ve seen on the iPhone 11 Pro. Reports suggested that the tablet could come in the first half of 2020 but with the current state of affairs dude to COVID 19, it isn't clear when the tablets will be announced. Some information also suggests that the new iPad Pros could support a new iPad keyboard with a built-in trackpad. You can read more about it here.

The iPad Pro family of tablets was first introduced back in 2015 and has since seen updates/refreshes in 2016, 2017 and 2018. We didn’t get a refresh for the iPad Pro in 2019 so it is expected that we could get a design refresh in addition to updated specs under the hood.

We also get a refreshed iPad Air in 2019 running on the Apple A12 chip and sporting a 10.5-inch True Tone Retina Display. You can check out our review of the iPad Air here. Another device to see a refresh in 2019 was the iPad Mini. Before 2019, the iPad mini saw a refresh in 2015. So those looking for a small tablet were delighted with the 2019 refresh. With the 2019 refresh of the iPad Mini, we saw an update in the processor from the A8 to the A12 Bionic, along with an increase in RAM. The iPad mini is available in two storage options - 64GB and 256GB. It still retains the 7.9-inch Retina display but now also features Apple True Tone display.

Motorola launches a new Moto E6s budget phone with dual rear cameras, 3000mAh battery and more

Motorola E lineup has been all about budget phones. Now, Motorola has added another one to the E series. It is called the Moto E6s. If you have déjà vu reading the name that’s because the company launched the Moto E6s about 6 months ago in India. However, that was a rebranded Moto E6 Plus. Hence, it is an all-new smartphone.

The Moto E6s features a 6.1-inch HD IPS panel with a 720 x 1520 pixel resolution. It is powered by the MediaTek P22 chipset (eight A53 cores), paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB of in-built storage. However, it supports a dedicated microSD slot, even on the dual-SIM model (cards up to 256GB are supported). It is made out of plastic and has a water-repellent design that protects the electronics inside from splashes of water.

On the optics front, it sports a dual rear camera setup with a 13MP primary lens with an f/2.2 aperture that supports 1080p/30fps video capture. Further, there’s a depth sensor for bokeh shots. On the front lies a 5MP selfie shooter housed in the screen’s notch. For reference, the Indian variant comes with an 8MP selfie camera. The phone features a fingerprint reader, disguised as the Motorola logo.

The Moto E6s packs a 3000mAh battery that charges at just 5W (down from 10W). Charging is done over MicroUSB. Connectivity options include a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 4.2 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi b/g/n.

The phone will be made available in Latin America, Europe, and Asia in the coming weeks. Pricing is still to be announced. However, the Indian variant costs Rs 7,499 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model. It comes in Peacock Blue and Sunrise Red colours.

PlayStation 5 details to be revealed tonight, how to watch the live stream and everything you need to know

PlayStation fans rejoice. Sony has officially confirmed that we will get new information about the upcoming PlayStation 5. The PlayStation official Twitter account reads, “Tomorrow at 9 am Pacific Time, PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny will provide a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games.” For those that aren't aware, Mark Cerny was the lead system architect on the PlayStation 4 and before the reveal of the PS4, he gave a deep dive into the workings of the console.

Those interested can tune in at 9:30 PM India time, March 18, i.e., tonight here.

Sony has been tight-lipped about the features and specifications of the PS5. The last official piece of information that we got about the console was the official logo back at CES 2020. Before that, we got some information about the console via Wired exclusive articles. So before tonight's deep dive, let's quickly recap everything we know about the PlayStation 5.

The PS5 Controller will have haptic feedback

Sony has officially confirmed that the PS5 controller will have haptic feedback. This is in line with HD rumble found on the Nintendo Switch controller. It will give the user more realistic feedback of what is happening on screen. So, if your character on screen is pulling a bow, then the tension on the triggers will be different when compared to accelerating in a racing game. This dynamic is something that is different than what we’ve seen on controllers so far. The controller will have the same design as the PS4 controller but will lose out on the light bar and will have slightly chunkier grips for better ergonomics.

Known specifications of the console

Sony has confirmed that the console will support 4K and 8K gaming along with a frame rate of up to 120 fps. It is also known that the console will run on the AMD third-generation Ryzen chip but details of the GPU are still sketchy. The console will also have hardware-accelerated ray tracing, just like what we saw on the Xbox Series X. The console will also support 3D audio, bringing a new dimension of audio to gaming. The console will also support a UHD Blu ray drive with support for Blu Rays with a capacity of 100GB. The console will also house an SSD, making game load times faster. A leaked video showed Marvel’s Spider-Man running on the PS4 and PS5 to show the difference between the load times. We hope to see similar demos in tonight unveiling.

Backward Compatibility

Speaking of Spider-Man running on the PS5, it has been confirmed that the PS5 will run PS4 games. Mark Cerny has said that since both the consoles are built on the same architecture, the PS5 will run PS4 games. Whether the PS5 will be able to run games better than the PS4 is something yet to be seen. We are also waiting on official information on whether the PS5 will run PS3, PS2, and PS1 games, giving Microsoft’s backward compatibility a run for its money.

VR support

The current PSVR and move controllers will be supported by the PS5. VR is very important to Sony, but they aren't ready to talk about the future of VR. Not yet anyway.

Above is everything we know about the PS5. Microsoft has revealed a lot of information about the upcoming Xbox Series X and you can read about it here.

Redmi Soundbar 20 gets Bluetooth certification

It looks like Xiaomi is working on a Redmi Soundbar 2.0. The device appeared on the Bluetooth certification website, Bluetooth SIG. According to the listing, the soundbar features Bluetooth 5.0 which is the latest Bluetooth standard. It also bears the model number MDZ-34-DA. That's all the information we have about the new device. There is no image of it or release date. However, from the name of Redmi Soundbar 2.0, we can gauge that the device will not have an external subwoofer. If it had 2.1 in the title, we’d presume the subwoofer was external.

Xiaomi is selling its Mi soundbar in India which is also a 2.0 setup. The Mi Soundbar available in India has 1 Aux, 1 Line-in, 1 S/PDIF and 1 Optical port for connectivity in addition to Bluetooth 4.2. In terms of the drivers, it has two 20mm dome tweeters, four Passive radiators, and two 2.5 inch woofer drivers. In our review of the Mi Soundbar, we said, “Considering the price point and performance on offer, the Mi Soundbar can be a great companion for your budget TV. It packs in a punch, be it for gaming, watching movies and even music. It has connectivity options that can cater to old TVs and new ones alike. And overall, the lack of a sub at this price isn’t missed. The soundbar is well built and looks good too. However, the inability to control volume via S/PDIF on Android TV OS is a downside and overall a remote control is missed, be it to change the source or even to control the volume. The channel separation is also weak. If you have a budget of 5k to spend on a soundbar for your TV, you can definitely consider the Mi Soundbar. It is a bang for your buck”. The Mi Soundbar launched for Rs 4,999 and still retains the same price tag.

Coming to the Redmi Soundbar 2.0, we think the device will come with the standard audio inputs. In addition to Bluetooth, we think the device will come with SPDIF, Aux, and optical. We’d like it if it came with HDMI ARC but we think that's wishful thinking.

In other Redmi news, the Redmi K30 Pro is all set to be launched on March 24 in China. Ahead of the launch, the company has released the official render of the handset. You can read more about them here.
