JioFiber Rs 199 Combo Plan offers 1000GB of high speed data and a validity of 7 days

Those looking for more data for a short period of time on Reliance JioFiber connections can check out the Rs 199 plan. The plan comes with a validity of 7 days and a data cap of 1000GB. The speed you get is 100Mbps and after the FUP, the speed drops to 1Mbps. This combo plan is available for new as well as existing customers. The price of Rs 199 for the plan is before GST. After GST, the plan will cost users Rs 234.82. According to Telecomtalk, a customer can choose the plan for a period of 1 month. This will cost the customer Rs 1100 including GST and give them speeds of 100Mbps and a data cap of 4.5TB. 

To put things into perspective, the other plans priced around Rs 1,000 in Jio’s broadband portfolio are the Rs 849 plan and the Rs 1299 plan. For Rs 849, users get speeds of 100Mbps with a monthly cap of 400GB data + 200GB extra. For the Rs 1299 plan users get speeds of 250Mbps with a monthly cap of 1000GB data + 200GB extra. The Combo plan looks to be better than both these plans if consuming a lot of data is what you need. 

Since the country is on lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people are working from home, leading to higher consumption of data. This means that those with limited FUP are facing challenges with data consumption. However, telecom operators and broadband service providers are offering plans and packages to help users work from home. 

JioFiber itself is offering 10 Mbps broadband speeds with no service charges to new users, double data across all plans for existing ones. You can read more about it here. iQOO Neo 3 5G with Snapdragon 865 set to launch on April 23

Vivo’s spin-off brand, iQOO is set to launch its next flagship smartphone, the iQOO Neo 3 5G on April 23 in China. The successor to the iQOO Neo, the Neo 3 features a high-refresh-rate screen, top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865 chip with 5G support. iQOO recently brought it’s flagship iQOO 3 to India which is powered by the same flagship processor, however, misses out on high-refresh-rate display.

As per the launch invite shared by iQOO on Weibo, the phone is revealed to be powered by an SD865 chip with a 144Hz refresh rate display and UFS 3.1 storage. The phone also supports dual-mode 5G SA/NSA, however, not many countries including India have operational 5G networks.

The Neo 3 features a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, according to a previous leak and could come with support for 55W fast charging, courtesy of the Super FlashCharge solution.

With a high 144Hz refresh rate screen, the Neo 3 is only the second phone of it’s kind, the first one being Nubia Red Magic 5G that was announced in March 2020. Regardless, phones with a high refresh rate haven’t been utilized properly due to the lack of support for complementing games. And while that is expected to change in due course with more game developers now going the mobile way, there aren’t many enjoyable games that are tuned for high refresh rate screen.

As for the other specifications, iQOO hasn’t revealed anything more yet, however, we can get an idea based on its last launched device, which happens to be the iQOO 3.

A flagship phone, by all means, the iQOO 3 features a Super AMOLED screen topped with Gorilla Glass 6, powered by Snapdragon 865 with upto 12GB RAM and 256GB storage options and 48MP quad-camera setup. The phone is fitted with a 4,400mAh battery with support for 55W fast charging out-of-the-box. The phone is priced starting at Rs 38,990 in India.

You can now view Instagram Live videos on your desktop

With a spike in the number of active users using social networking apps, Facebook, which owns some of the most popular messaging apps, have been on an upgrading spree. The company previously announced new features for its web app. Now, Instagram announced you can watch live videos straight from the browsers.

Instagram, the photo-sharing social media platform has a desktop app that isn’t all that useful. You can only browse your feed, see your own posts and browse through your messages. A new update in the future will add the ability to send and receive messages on the web and also view Insta live videos on your laptop.

Watching an Instagram Live on the web may not mean much to you since you would usually check the app on your smartphone only, but it can be quite useful for creators who are in the live stream. Unlike Facebook live videos which are geared more towards larger screens, Insta Lives are meant for smaller smartphone screens. So you get a small frame to fit your head in. Portrait mode only. And the comments appear one after the other and if you have a lot of viewers commenting, they go by much faster without giving you the time to read. Streamers often have to scroll down quite a bit to find a specific comment. Moderating a Live session via a desktop can help iron out these kinks.

While Instagram is relaxing its rules of sticking to mobile only with the ability to send DMs and watch live videos on the web app, it still won’t allow users to post photos using the desktop app.

Instagram will soon let you send DMs from the web browser

Instagram is testing direct messages from the web browser that will let you send and receive DMs from your desktop or laptop. Instagram began testing direct messages from the web with a small number of users around the world. However, TechCrunch noted this goes against Facebook’s plan to introduce end-to-end encryption on all its messaging apps.

Upon a full rollout, the feature will let you send and receive DMs on your browser. Previously you could view your messages and browse your feed. While you still can’t post from the web, you will soon be able to slide into the DMs from your desktop.

The web support will also include starting a new message or a group chat, send photos, double click to like messages, share posts from feed and more. You won’t be able to send videos or capture photos, but can you can view non-disappearing posts.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri tweeted saying he hopes he will be able to “bring this to everyone soon” once the team has ironed out the bugs and kinks.

Supporting DMs on the web app will let people stuck with only their laptops or desktops to browse some social media. But it remains to be seen how it fits into Facebook’s goal of introducing end-to-end encryption between Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. There’s no trustworthy web-based end-to-end encrption messenger, but Facebook does plan to unify the instant messaging arm of Facebook and Instagram with WhatsApp chats under one app.

Nikon will be introducing free online classes for photography till the end of April, the company announced over a press release. Nikon will be collaborating with award-winning photographer Raghu Rai along with other renowned photographers for the classes.

The online class will teach new skills you can pick while you’re stuck at home during the lockdown. The classes take up various topics and themes including wildlife, wedding, interior and architecture, street, portrait, food and pet photography, and more.

Each class will be hosted by a professional who have made their names in those fields, to offer in-depth knowledge on how to improve your craft. Each session will be followed by a live Q&A to address the queries and doubts.

The aim, according to Nikon is to impact not only offer guidance from experts but also tips and tricks to improve your art.

The classes will be held via Nikon’s official handles of Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

Coronavirus outbreak: Google will now make virtual healthcare options more visible on Search and Maps

If you have been more options for virtual healthcare on Google search, that’s completely intentional. Google has decided to make virtual health care options more visibile on Google Search and Google Maps in an attempt to improve access to healthcare without having to visit a doctor’s chamber during the lockdown imposed to curb the coronavirus spread.

Hospitals, mental health experts and doctors who wish to virtually treat patients can opt for ‘virtual care offering’ in their Business Profile. Then, anyone searching for a virtual health care provider, they will see a ‘get online care’ option on Search and Maps.

The feature will first pilot in the United States and then roll out globally.

Huawei MatePad specs and design leaked online

Huawei’s upcoming MatePad tablet has leaked online. The leaked image highlights the design and some of the specifications of the upcoming tablet. The MatePad is expected to sport a 10.4-inch display with a 2K resolution. It also has an 8MP camera at the back accompanied by a flash and also an 8MP selfie camera in the front. The tablet sports a USB-C port at the bottom for charging and data transfer. The leaked image also suggests that the device will support the M-Pen stylus. It will be available in two colour options - White and Gray.

The Huawei MatePad will be powered by the Kirin 810 SoC and come with an education center. It is speculated to run on EMUI 10.1 Lite and a 7250 mAh battery is expected to power the entire package. There is no information on when the tablet will come to India. 

Speaking of India, at the beginning of March, Huawei launched a new variant of the MediaPad M5 Lite. The MediaPad M5 Lite runs EMUI 8.0, which is based on the dated Android 8.0 Oreo mobile operating system. The tablet’s sports a 7500mAh battery. The Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite features a Kirin 659 chip and a 10.1-inch IPS LCD screen, which has a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.
