Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition will be the last unique version of the console

Microsoft has unveiled details of its new limited-edition Xbox One X bundle for the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and in the words of Keanu Reeves himself, it’s pretty “breathtaking”. Called the Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition Bundle, the bundle will launch sometime in June, and additional details have not yet been revealed. However, what we do know is that this will be the final Xbox One X limited edition console to ever be released and only 45,000 units will be made available in select markets.

The bundle will contain a console that features a “cybernetic design” with glowing elements, colourful panels and colour shift effects. It also features graffiti to make it more in tune with the theme and setting of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. Speaking of the game, it will be available as a full digital download when the game releases on September 17.  The bundle offers 1TB of storage and will also feature a Cyberpunk 2077 themed wireless controller. The controller is said to be inspired by the in-game character, Johnny Silverhands, who in turn is based on the actor, Keanu Reeves. Hardware-wise, the controller is pretty much the same as any other Xbox One X controller. This limited edition version of the controller will be available separately for $79.99 (approximately Rs 6,100). Microsoft also noted in its press release that it will be unveiling other “surprises that come packed with this bundle.”

Microsoft has also unveiled a bunch of other Cyberpunk 2077 themed accessories as well. This includes the Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition Xbox Pro Charging stand. The stand has been designed to aesthetically match the Cyberpunk-themed wireless controller. The stand features magnetic contact systems with a rechargeable battery, battery cover, the charging stand as well as a 6-foot long cable. This charging stand will be available for $49.99 (approximately Rs 3,800).

Players can also pick up a Cyberpunk 2077-themed expandable storage from Seagate for the console. Called the Seagate Game Drive for Xbox: Cyberpunk 2077 Special Edition, it is available in 2TB and 5TB capacities. Once plugged, the console should automatically detect the drive and guide you through the installation process. Prices for the drives are not yet revealed but should be available in June.

Steel Series has also revealed a Cyberpunk-themed version of its Arctis 1 wireless gaming headphones. The Arctis 1 Wireless for the Xbox Johnny Silverhand Edition is said to be the official headset of Cyberpunk 2077 and offers a ClearCast noise-cancelling microphone. The headphones are priced at $109.99 (approximately Rs 8,400) and will be available from June.

Cyberpunk 2077 was initially scheduled to be released this month. However, the developers of the game, CD Project Red announced that the game was delayed and would now be released on September 17. The developers of the game have also announced that those who purchase the game for the Xbox One, will receive a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X version through Smart Delivery.

Apple iPhone 12 could finally get a smaller notch

Apple iPhone 12 is months away from an actual launch but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill churning out leaks about the upcoming phone. As per the latest leaks, it looks like the design schematics of the iPhone 12 have popped up on the Internet giving fuel to earlier speculations. It shows that the Cupertino giant is looking to reduce the size of its notch cutout on the front of its upcoming iPhones.

Apple introduced the notch with the iPhone X flushed with a couple of sensors that make up the phone’s Face ID system. Now, when the Android counterparts are making phones with a punch-hole notch, Apple seems to be sticking to its wide notch but will be tweaking it to be less space-hogging that on previous iterations.

Jon Prosser of FrontPageTech shared the alleged iPhone 12 schematics on Twitter and we can get an idea of how Apple will be ensuring the viability of its Face ID biometric system by reducing the size of its notch on top.

Apple iPhone 12 leaked design schematics

According to the images posted by Prosser, the iPhone 12 is set to feature a smaller notch design with a slew of sensors including proximity, ambient light sensors, flood illuminator, dot projector, infrared camera and a selfie camera. These sensors make up the phone’s Face ID solution with a speaker unit positioned just above the sensor array. The company seems to have found a way to reduce the profile of the notch cutout by repositioning the speaker unit, but we’ll have to wait for the official launch to find out for sure.

This schematic corroborates an earlier leak about iPhone 12’s design which is more reminiscent of the iPhone 5’s aluminium chassis than the recent iPhones. The leak hints that iPhone 12 features slim bezels that are 0.9mm thinner than the previous generation which means that users get a larger screen estate to play around.

The iPhone 12 is expected to follow the design of the latest iPad Pro with a touch of flat edges from the iPhone 5. The upcoming phone is also rumoured to be fitted with a LiDAR sensor for better depth-sensing in AR features of the phone.

Earlier reports have indicated that one version of the upcoming iPhone 12 is set to be delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak in various parts of the world. The phones are usually unveiled in September but we don’t have any official confirmation from Apple whether the iPhone launch is on track for scheduled launch.

Recently, Apple launched a revamped iPhone SE 2020 which essentially features the latest iPhone 11 hardware but in the body of the iPhone 8. The phone is a budget offering by the company and starts at Rs 42,500 in India.

AMD Ryzen 7 4800U onboard GPU almost matches Nvidia MX250 performance

There is no doubt that AMD has been killing it with its Ryzen lineup of chips. The 7nm based Zen 2 architecture has allowed AMD to push some serious performance from its desktop processors and now with the Zen 2 based mobile processors on the verge of making it into users’ hands, things are getting very exciting. A glimmer of this excitement comes from a Weibo user who posted some very interesting benchmark numbers from a prototype laptop running the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U processor. Apparently APU comes very close to the performance of Nvidia’s MX250.

The prototype laptop running the Ryzen 7 4800U was benchmarked against and Intel machine with a Core i5-10210U, which is a 4 core-8 thread processor with a base clock of 1.6GHz. the intel machine is also equipped with an Nvidia MX 250 discrete GPU. At first, it looks exceptionally good for the Ryzen chip, with its Time Spy & Fire Strike numbers exceeding those of the Intel-based MX250 toting laptop. However, in gaming tests, the MX250 comes out ahead. Light titles like CS:Go saw both the laptops push out respectable frame rates while data for League of Legends isn’t provided (the original post only says “more than 90fps), we see that for more demanding titles like Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, neither of the laptops are capable of delivering playable frame rates.

These performance metrics are very impressive when we consider the fact that this is an on-board GPU, delivering almost 100 fps for CS:Go. We know that all games were tested at 1080p, but the original post does not disclose any exact graphics settings. Additionally, the AMD machine is said to be a prototype, so the performance of the final, production unit may vary.

While this may not be of great appeal to gamers, it should definitely be of interest to content creators. As applications start relying on GPU power in addition to CPU and RAM, discrete GPUs have always been favoured for creative workloads. However, at this performance level, light edit and render tasks shouldn’t be a bother for this prototype. AMD’s VEGA graphics traditionally have always had an edge over Intel’s integrated counterparts, but its nice to see it finally edge into the MX-series space.

Needless to say, this is going to be a very exciting year for those looking to buy a laptop. We’ve got Intel’s 10th generation multi-threaded H-series processors with their higher base and boost clocks. Nvidia has announced new Super-series GPUs and is expected to also unveil the MX330 and MX350 series chips. AMD has already announced its 7nm based Ryzen 4000 series CPUs for laptops, and it wont be long before the market is flooded with laptops carrying those components.

Facebook Gaming launched, will take on Twitch, YouTube and Mixer

It seems like Facebook is planning to take on Twitch, YouTube and Mixer with its new gaming app. Called Facebook Gaming, the app is currently available on Google Play Store, and should make it to iOS soon. According to a report by the New York Times, the company tested the Facebook Gaming app in Southeast Asia and Latin America over the last 18 months. The iOS versions will be released once Apple approves of them.

“Investing in gaming, in general, has become a priority for us because we see gaming as a form of entertainment that really connects people,” said Fidji Simo, head of the Facebook app, told the publication. “It’s entertainment that’s not just a form of passive consumption but entertainment that is interactive and brings people together.”

The new app aims to include casual games as well as access to gaming communities. It will also give players a way to watch and create live game streams. A function called Go Live gives people an easier way to upload streams of other mobile games on the same device. Speaking of streams, the report notes that these streams can be shared on someone’s personal Facebook page, making it easier for people to start streaming. By comparison, a platform like Twitch can be complicated for casual gamers to understand and use, not to mention the fact that the platform is not yet available in certain countries like India.

We will have to see if Facebook is successful in its bid to challenge the likes of Twitch and Mixer. Google tried its hand at a dedicated streaming and gaming app in the form of YouTube Gaming, however, the platform was shut in May last year and was integrated into the main YouTube app.
