Apple iPad Pro 129-inch 5G launch delayed until 2021 but iPhone SE Plus could be announced soon

Apple has reportedly postponed the launch of its 12.9-inch, 5G compatible iPad Pro to 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic that has gripped many countries, businesses and people alike. Even in the ongoing health crisis, OnePlus managed to launch its latest OnePlus 8 series followed by Apple iPhone SE 2020, just a day later. But unfortunately due to the nation-wide lockdown currently in effect till May 3 delivery of non-essential products such as mobile phones and laptops are prohibited in India.

According to a report by China’s United Daily News, the Cupertino giant was earlier preparing to launch an iPad Pro with 5G support and mini-LED display by the end of Q3 2020 but has now decided to delay the launch owing to supply chain partners in China who are dealing with COVID-19 crisis.

There have been various rumours surrounding the launch of an iPad Pro with 5G support with the latest speculations hinting that Apple is going to launch a 12.9-inch iPad Pro powered by A14X chip. Jon Prosser of FrontPageTech tweeted last month that the new iPad Pro will be introduced in late 2020. However, the latest report by UDN suggests that the launch has been pushed further to Spring 2021.

Apple iPad Pro received an incremental update in March 2020 with an A12Z Bionic chipset, 120Hz refresh rate display, LiDAR sensor for better Augment Reality support and starts at Rs 71,900 in India. The upcoming iPad Pro, however, is said to be the company’s first 5G supported iPad.

This comes weeks after MacRumours reported that the iPhone 12 is on track to launch sometime in September this year but pointed out supply chain delays caused due to Coronavirus outbreak. This means that the Pro variant of the phone will hit shelves at a later date in October. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are rumoured to follow along the lines of iPad Pro and will come with a LiDAR sensor in addition to a 64MP primary camera.

Interestingly, Prosser has tweeted recently that we could also see an iPhone SE Plus 2020 launch in the next few weeks but hasn’t shared any more details around the phone yet. The iPhone SE 2020 was unveiled on April 15, corroborating with Prosser’s earlier leaks.

Ranked TDM is now live! Squad up and frag out in our newest ranked mode. https://t.co/rikkULz7ro

— PUBG MOBILE (@PUBGMOBILE) April 21, 2020

This new mode comes a few days after PUBG Mobile announced the introduction of Arctic Mode. This mode challenges players to survive not only other players but also the weather. This new mode is set in Vikendi and is only available for squads of four players. In this mode, the map will be hit by a blizzard every few minutes. When it comes, players will have to create a fire and huddle around it to keep their body temperature up. If it drops down, they will start losing health. The fire needs to be kept going by adding branches that are scattered throughout the map. Players can also keep their body temperature up by using items like heaters. Players can also hunt and cook chicken to keep their temperature up. For a more detailed analysis as well as some tip on playing the new mode, click here.

The game is also tipped to be updated to v0.18.0 soon. The new version is tipped to include a bunch of new features, the most notable one being the introduction of Miramar 2.0. The new map features a new vehicle in the form of a Golden Mirado. It also comes with a few other notable inclusions such as the addition of a permanent scope to the Win94 rifle and the introduction of side scopes. This allows the player to attach two scopes to their weapon. This will allow players to switch between a long-range scope and a short-range one, without the need to swap between two different weapons. These features and more have made their way to the beta version of the game, which you can check out here.

Over 2 billion Google Chrome users warned of security risk on Windows, macOS and Linux

Google has issued a critical warning for Chrome users across Windows, macOS and Linux, and has advised users to update their apps to the latest version of the build. A stable release version 81.0.4044.113 of Chrome is being seeded by Google and will reach users in the coming weeks.

In a short blog post, Google warned users of its popular browser Chrome to update to the latest version whenever available. This is due to a bug that made the browser vulnerable to attack and exploitation. Having said that, the details about this particular security risk is being kept under wraps as Google wants to first get the latest update to users that fixes the issue.

The only information Google is currently providing about this exploit is its codename, CVE-2020-6457. This is followed by an extremely short description that reads “Use after free in speech recognizer”. While this vague-worded statement does little to give us a piece of detailed information on the vulnerability, Sophos, a cybersecurity specialists team explains that “use-after-free” bugs can be used to run untrusted codes, programs by hackers from the outside. This suggests that the exploit is capable of granting remote code execution powers which are considered to be the most serious kind of vulnerability.

The attackers can bypass the regular security checks in place by using such an exploit which is why the security risk is marked as critical by Google. The browser can be used to run illegal codes and programs but the company’s fix should be enough to patch things up.

While the Chrome 81.0.4044.113 update is being released to more than 2 billion users of the browser, it could take some time for it to reach you. Nevertheless, here is how to update your Chrome browser manually in order to keep your data secure.

How to update Chrome

Google has said that a new version of the Chrome browser has been released and will be seeded “out over the coming days/weeks.” However, the bug fix is also marked as critical in the release blog which is why you can manually check for the update. Here’s how.

Click on the three vertical dots and that should open an in-line menu with various options. Go to Help and select About Google Chrome from the menu options.

If you’re running the latest build version 81.0.4044.113 then there’s nothing for you to worry about, otherwise, check for updates regularly and install it as it arrives for you.

Heres how Netflix plans to prevent accidental touches on your phone

It can be quite annoying to be in the middle of a binge-watching session on your phone, only to accidentally touch the screen and mess up your playback. But it seems like Netflix has found a solution to the problem. First spotted by 9to5Google, the video streaming platform is releasing an update for its App on Android that adds a new ‘screen lock’ option, alongside existing options like episodes, subtitles, etc. It should be noted that the new option only seems to be available for the Android app right now.

As the name would suggest, the new option locks the screen, thereby removing the Netflix UI that generally pops up when a touch is registered. Instead, they only see a lock icon. Tapping on this icon twice unlocks the screen, letting you access the various standard UI features like the seek bar and the various other options.

However, it should be noted that the screen only seems to work when watching one episode or a movie. Users would have to enable it again when the next episode starts. It should be noted that the standard Android gestures like swiping down to access the notification shade will work, even if the screen lock option is turned on.

The demand for streaming shows is at an all-time high since almost the entire world has been forced indoors due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. Seeing this, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has written to the telecom department and OTT services like Netflix, Hotstar (now Disney+ Hotstar), Amazon Prime Video and more to lower their streaming quality in order to reduce the burden on networks.

If you too are bored at home and wondering what to watch, then we at Digit have curated a bunch of listers just for you. If you’re a fan of sci-fi, then you should check this out. If superheroes are more your thing, then you can check this out. However, if are a fantasy buff, then you should click here.

OnePlus 7T Pro price cut after OnePlus 8 launch

OnePlus just launched the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro with surprisingly good pricing in India, but that’s not the end of the good news. OnePlus has dropped the price of the OnePlus 7T Pro by Rs 6,000, bringing the price of the phone down to Rs 47,999.

Interestingly, the price cut is limited to the OnePlus 7T Pro, with the McLaren edition and the regular OnePlus 7T still maintaining their original prices. Additionally, the discounted pricing for the OnePlus 7T Pro only reflects on OnePlus’ website and not on Amazon. This could be due to the lockdown as Amazon has unlisted most items from being available for sale on its platform.

The OnePlus portfolio now features the OnePlus 7T starting at Rs 34,999 followed by the OnePlus 8 at Rs 44,999. In the Pro series, the OnePlus 7T Pro now starts at Rs 47,999 while the OnePlus 8 Pro starting at Rs 54,999. The OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition continues to be the most expensive OnePlus smartphone available, with a price tag of Rs 58,999.

The OnePlus 7T Pro is no slouch of a device when we consider it with respect to other devices in the market. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor mated to 8/12GB LPDDR4 memory. You get a 6.67-inch 1440p display with a 90Hz refresh rate and is HDR10+ playback capable. The OnePlus 7T Pro also features a triple camera setup, with the primary camera using a Sony IMX 586 sensor, the one with 48 megapixels worth of resolution. The secondary camera features an 8-megapixel resolution and a 3x telephoto lens. The third camera is an ultra-wide shooter with 16-megapixel resolution and 117-degrees field of view.

We noted in our review of the OnePlus 7T Pro that the phone was an excellent value for money proposition even at its original price thanks to its speedy performance, excellent display and even very reliable cameras. Now with the price having been reduced and the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro out, the OnePlus 7T Pro still makes good purchase sense, seeing how OnePlus’s devices tend to last longer than the average Android smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite is scheduled to launch on April 27 running MIUI 12 out-of-the-box, exactly one month after the company announced the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro globally. The Mi 10 series was previously going to launch in India on March 31 but due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the launch has been postponed until the ongoing nation-wide lockdown ends.

The Chinese electronics maker has unveiled the Mi 10 Lite in Europe but the Chinese variant also gets up to 50x zoom with a periscope camera. The company could call this the Mi 10 Youth Edition for the Chinese market. Alongside this, Xiaomi is also expected to announce its next MIUI 12 update.

Other details about the phone are currently under wraps but we can still get an idea of the hardware by looking at the global variant of Mi 10 Lite.

The SD765G chip has an octa-core CPU with Adreno 620 GPU and is paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. There’s a microSD card slot for further memory expansion.

The Mi 10 Lite has a quad-camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 48MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor.
