JioFiber set-top box to finally get Amazon Prime Video support

Here is some news for JioFiber set-top box owners that should make them happy. The service has finally gotten Prime Video onboard after the app was seen missing after the launch of JioFiber. But, there is a catch here in that users will still have to buy Prime Video to access the service’s content. The service is not free. The Amazon streaming service comes with excellent shows like tales from the Loop, the man in the High Castle and much, much more. If you’ve got the app on your JioFiber set-top box, here are a few fantasy movies on Prime Video that you can start checking out. 

JioFiber finally receives Amazon Prime Video support

JioFiber was rather empty when it came to OTT services like Prime Video but has steadily been building its library by adding more and more OOT streaming services. Other streaming services on JioFiber set-top boxes include Disney+Hotstar, SonyLiv, ALT Balaji and many more. The service still does not have Netflix support but worry not, as it should be added toJioFiber’s roster soon enough. It’s good to see the service add more OTT streaming services as this will only increase the viability of JioFiber. 

In other news, Reliance Jio seems to be looking to take on video conferencing apps like Zoom, Google Meet and more with Jio Meet. The company’s very own video calling app has not been launched yet but going by how Reliance does things, we expect an announcement soon. As previously reported and as a part of the #CoronaHaaregaIndiaJeetega campaign, Reliance Jio is also offering new customers a base plan of 10Mbps without charging any service charge. For existing JioFiber users, the broadband provider is doubling the data which is a part of the plan. 

As the lockdown is extended for two more weeks, it looks like we all need a bit of entertainment in our lives and with the addition of Prime Video to the JioFiber set-top box, there is now more content to consume for JioFiber users.

2K Announces New Cartoonish Wrestling Game: WWE 2K Battlegrounds

A new cartoonish WWE game with superpowers called WWE 2K Battlegrounds is currently under development.

A week ago 2K had announced that there would not be a WWE 2K21 game releasing this year. Instead, in the latest blog from 2k, the company announced its new arcade action game: WWE 2K Battlegrounds. It is similar to the NBA 2K Playgrounds series in terms of aesthetic, gameplay and feel. Big cartoonish heads with tiny bodies, superhuman abilities similar to that of WWE All Stars and added elements for exaggerated feel.

The game is currently under development by Saber Interactive, the same studio behind previously mentioned NBA 2K Playgrounds. 2K further went on to state, “WWE 2K Battlegrounds provides another way to enjoy WWE video game action”. You can check out their teaser here:

The trailer features some of the fan favourites such as John Cena and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, with a unique aesthetic to them. The game also allows players to throw opponents out of the ring into the jaws of a hungry crocodile patiently waiting outside. The environments outside the ring also look different from what we have previously seen in the games.

2K also addressed their previous announcement regarding the cancellation of WWE 2K21. The company stated that they had taken into consideration the feedback they had received from the players with regards to gameplay, poor graphics and the overbearing bugs. In order to deliver a better fan service, 2K has chosen to delay the production date for their next WWE 2K game.

2K further went onto state that they have recruited Patrick Gilmore to serve as their Executive Producer and lead their Visual Effects team. Gilmore has a 25-year experience in video games, going as far back as working on Disney’s Aladdin on Sega Genesis, Killer Instinct and Medal of Honor.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is set to release this fall. Details on the platforms have not yet been revealed by the company.

WB Games Major Plans for Cancelled E3 Leaked

This year’s E3 has been cancelled due to growing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. Numerous games were supposed to be unveiled at the conference. Including the highly anticipated new Batman game from Warner Bros. Montreal.

Major details regarding games that were supposed to be unveiled by Warner Bros. has leaked online. The leaks come from an anonymous source on 4Chan. The games which were likely to be unveiled at E3 was the new Batman game, Hitman 3, Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath and Injustice 3.

The leak for the Batman 2020 game suggested that Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker would be returning as voice actors. The upcoming game would be a soft reboot and would not be a part of or relate to the pre-existing Arkham franchise. The gameplay and mechanics, however, would carry over to the new title. The Bat Family - Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl will be available as playable characters. The leak further went on to state that the game would feature the biggest open-world Gotham City till date and that vehicles would be present in-game. However, there will not be any vehicle battles, similar to that of Batman: Arkham Knight. The villain roster in the game would include The Joker, Harley Quinn, Court of Owls, Ra’s al Ghul, Penguin, The Riddler, Dollmaker, Clock King and Black Mask. Looking at the cast, it is clear that Joker would be one of the main villains with Troy Baker doing the voice of the legendary Clown Prince of Crime once again. Our assumption of the plot is that the Court of Owls will be the primary antagonist of the story who decides to hire the above mentioned super villains to "take care" of Batman. Based on the leak, the game is set to release late fall 2020. The last tease for the new Batman game was unveiled by Warner Bros. Montreal twitter back in January. Since then the account has been dead silent.

The leak for Hitman 3 suggested that it would be the final game in the reboot trilogy. The Deluxe edition for the game will provide access to all the previous missions, stories and DLCs. So, purchasing the previous games separately is not a necessity. Three of the missions in the game will be featuring an optional co-op. We can only assume that the co-op mission would allow the second player to take control over another silent assassin to help Agent 47 to do the deed. Based on the leak, the game is set to release during Christmas 2020.

The leak for Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath suggests that it is basically a newer edition with a different story for the pre-existing game. Aftermath would be available for sale and as an upgrade for pre-existing owners. The new edition would also include 2 new character packs with 6 new arenas and 3 story chapters which will be releasing over the next 2 years. So, it is similar to a Season Pass. Some of the newer characters would include Takeda, Reiko, Quan Chi, Fujin and Ash Williams or Bruce Campbell. Based on the leak, the game is set to release during summer of 2020.

The leak for Injustice 3 suggests that similar to the previously mentioned Hitman 3, this one will be the final game in the franchise. This game would be the first next-gen release from Netherrealm Studios and would feature 2 story modes. We can assume that one story would be from Superman’s perspective, while the other would be from Batman’s point-of-view. Newer character roster would also be introduced in the game including John Constantine, Huntress, Penguin, Etrigan, Killer Croc, Zatanna, Doctor Manhattan and even Neo/Keanu Reeves! The main antagonist of the game would be Nekron, The Embodiment of Death. Based on the leak, the release is set for 2022.

As of now, Warner Bros. Games has not responded to any of these leaks by confirming or discrediting them. Also, no details regarding the Harry Potter RPG game has been leaked or revealed. However, based on these leaks, the upcoming years look pretty decent for Warner Bros. Games. We as fans, can only stay safe at home and wait for all of this madness to unfold.

The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghosts of Tsushima Release Dates Confirmed

An official blog from Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed the release dates for their two most anticipated projects of this year. The Sequel to Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 will be releasing on 19 June 2020. Followed by Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghosts of Tsushima releasing on 17 Jul 2020.

The announcement comes from Hermen Hulst, Head of WorldwideStudios, SIE. He stated that the decision regarding the release dates has been taken seeing the ease in the global distribution environment with regards to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The release date for The Last of Us Part 2 was delayed indefinitely by Naughty Dog earlier this month over COVID-19 concerns. That was followed by a series of major leaks from one of their own employees on 26 April 2020 who was annoyed over a payment dispute with Naughty Dogs. The Last of Us Part 2 is set 5 years after the events of the previous instalment of the game. Players will be taking control of a 19-year old Ellie who comes into conflict with a mysterious cult. The release date for Ghosts of Tsushima which was originally set for 26 June 2020 was delayed indefinitely earlier this month due to COVID-19. Now it has been postponed to 17 July 2020. Ghosts of Tsushima is an action-adventure stealth open-world game by Sucker Punch Productions, which revolves around the story of one of the last Samurais on the Tsushima Island, Jin Sakai. The timeline is set in the 1270s, during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. The gameplay primarily features sword fights and other interesting mechanics such as grappling hooks.

A further statement from the blog reads, “I want to personally congratulate and thank both the teams at Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions on their achievements, as we know it’s not an easy feat to reach the finish line under these circumstances. Both teams have worked hard to deliver these world-class experiences, and we can’t wait to see what you think of them when they release in just a few short months.”

Geoff Keighley announces Summer Game Fest

Geoff Keighley, the owner and producer of The Game Awards and “Hideo Kojima’s Boyfriend” has just announced a new gaming event for this year - Summer Game Fest. The event has been announced in response to the cancellation of other major gaming and non-gaming events this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Such as E3, GDC, Gamescom and the SXSW film festival.

As described by Geoff Keighley on Twitter, instead of being an event spanning a couple of days like previous gaming events, Summer Game Fest will be a 4 month-long event running from the month of May all the way through to August 2020. Geoff Keighley will be acting as the host for the event. He has also announced the companies that are in the Phase 1 lineup for the event. The lineup includes 2K, Activision, Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Blizzard, Bungie, CD Projekt Red, Extremes, Electronic Arts, PlayStation, Private Division, Riot Games, Square Enix, Steam, Warner Bros. Games and Xbox.

Summer Game Fest will be an all-digital experience which includes digital news and announcement for games, limited-time in-game events catering to certain titles, playable content and more. All from the comfort of home. The event will be streaming on all major platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Mixer and Facebook Live.

In a Reddit AMA with regards to the event, Geoff stated that doing a big global digital-interactive festival had always been a dream of his. And that the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated and gave him an opportunity to do so. Geoff also assured that there would be playable content including alphas and betas on big games. Obviously not every game being revealed would be playable from one’s home. But, it is a step in the right direction for the future of gaming.

For now, Geoff Keighley has announced the first event of Summer Game Fest which is an Inside Xbox event taking place at 8:30 PM IST next thursday showcasing Xbox Series X gameplay. The remaining schedule of events will be updated on the official website soon. In the same AMA Geoff Keighley also addressed the fact that although Nintendo had not yet committed to the online-event, they were always welcome.

The season finale is scheduled to take place on August 24 with Geoff Keighley, iam8bit and Gamescom doing a huge developer showcase. Further, in the same tweet, Geoff says, “Thanks to all the game companies and developers who are working hard under challenging circumstances to keep us entertained. I hope SGF is a way to show these artists how much their work helps us get through uncertain and scary times. Keep playing the future - gaming is about to get really bright this summer.”

PUBG Mobile teaser video showcases new locations in v0180 updates new Mad Miramar map

PUBG Mobile is set to launch the v0.18.0 update in a couple of days and the developers have been teasing the launch for quite a while. This time around, the developers have posted a short video that lets players know some of the new locations that they can check out in the new Mad Miramar map. 

Mad Miramar (initially known as Miramar 2.0), is one of the new additions in PUBG Mobile’s v0.18.0 update. The map would include three new notable additions. In the North-West corner of the map, players will come across Ruins. The history of these ancient monuments isn’t known, but the layout should offer lots of close-quarters combat opportunities. Then there is the race track. The part of the map features loops and jumps which should make for an interesting and fun driving experience. The final new location added to mad Miramar is the Oasis. Located on the northern edge of the map, the Oasis is a small part of the map with waterbodies that should offer a welcome change for those tired of the endless sand.

Besides this, the teaser also highlights an approaching dust storm. While the video does not bring up the story, it should be noted that it indeed is a new feature added in the map and it limits the visibility in outdoor areas, making it harder for players to snipe each other. 

Besides this, players will also get to play with a new version of the Win94 rifle that will feature a fixed 2.7x scope. Further, the map will feature a unique Golden Mirado vehicle. Only one instance of the vehicle will spawn in the map, making it pretty rare. 

Alongside all this, PUBG Mobile’s 0.18.0 update will also bring with it a new Cheer Park where players will be able to take rides and play games without worrying about being killed by other players. You can check out all the details of the new update here.
