Of course, it is not yet known if or when the company plans to launch the Mi Band 5 in India. The company launched the Mi Band 4 in September last year, so one can assume a similar timeframe for the launch of the Mi Band 5 in India.

Of course, Xiaomi is hosting another launch event in India on June 11. However, the is for the launch of its laptops in the country, which will be a first for the Chinese brand. GoPro announces Zeus Mini, a magnetic attachable light for its action cameras

GoPro has announced a new accessory for its action cameras called the GoPro Zeus Mini. The Zeus Mini is a magnetic swivel clip light that is a hands-free LED light built in to be weatherproof and rugged. This is the first release from GoPro in months, with the last notable launch being the GoPro Hero 8 and GoPro Max.

The Zeus Mini accommodates 10 high-power LEDs to light up objects with a 200-lumen brightness, adjustable in 4-steps. The light is designed to be waterproof up to a depth of 33 feet, and can, of course, withstand bumps and drops. The light attaches magnetically, so it can be snapped to any surface with an affinity for magnets.

“Zeus Mini brings to lighting what the HERO camera brings to cameras—incredible versatility, design and performance,” said GoPro’s founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman. “Once you start using Zeus Mini, you realize how convenient it is to have added light during so many situations. I now keep one in my car, one in my toolbox and one in my backpack for on-the-go readiness. It’s addictively enabling.”

What is really interesting is that the Zeus Mini is not actually a new product, but a combination of two existing accessories from GoPro. GoPro has always had the Light Mod, which is the lighting module with the same number of individual LEDs and the same level of durability. The second accessory is the magnetic swivel clip, which allows you to attach the Light Mod to it and have the freedom to swivel and turn the light in whichever direction you want. The Zeus Mini costs $69.99, while the light and magnetic clip individually cost $49.99 and $24.99 respectively. This makes the Zeus Mini slightly cheaper than buying the individual accessories.

The Zeus Mini has already started selling on GoPro’s APAC website and carries a $69.99 price tag. If you do decide to buy the Zeus Mini, do note that there will be additional charges for shipping and import duties.

Confirmed: The OnePlus McLaren deal has ended

The news has been confirmed. OnePlus and Mclaren have parted ways. In a statement to Android Authority, a McLaren spokesperson said, “Our partnership with OnePlus, which came to its scheduled conclusion recently, has been a highly successful collaboration between two iconic and innovative brands. Since the start of this partnership in 2018, OnePlus has been a supportive, valued partner and we wish them well and hope to see them in the future.”

In late May, Reddit user rudefyet put out a post which reads, “Just noticed this. Guessing there might not be another McLaren edition coming”. He links to the Mclaren partners page where OnePlus is no longer listed. You can read more about it here.

OnePlus is no stranger to special edition devices. We first saw this with the OnePlus 5T which was available in a Star Wars: The Last Jedi Edition You can check out its details here. Next up, we got the OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition and you can check out the details of that device here. Both the above phones were available in limited quantities around the world making them quite desirable to fans and those that wanted a “unique” OnePlus device. Next up, we got the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition. This variant not only came with the signature Mclaren design but also brought with it advancements under the hood including 10GB RAM (not available on any other OnePlus 6T) and Warp Charge 30 you can check out the details here. The McLaren Edition made a comeback with the OnePlus 7T Pro and you can check out that device here.

However, if there was one device that embodied the DNA of the McLaren formula more than the special editions was a device that was never released to the public. It was the OnePlus Concept One. As the name suggests the device was a concept and wasn't released to the public, but we got our hands on the device and you can check out our hands-on in the video below. The unique thing about the OnePlus Concept One was the fact that it had a disappearing camera. OnePlus used electrochromic glass technology to hide the rear cameras on the handset, the same as what is seen on Mclaren 720S. It also has the same papaya orange colour found on the McLaren car and the signature stitching found on the seats of the 720S.

Facebook Collab is a TikTok inspired music-making app

In a bid to take on the massive success that TikTok has seen over the past few months, facebook’s New Product Experimentation team has revealed that they are actually working on an app that is inspired bt TikTok. Dubbed Collab, the app will supposedly allow users to create short snippets of music videos that they can then share. The app is launching in beta and is invite-only on iOS, for now. Facebook looks like its directly targeting the TikTok user base with this app.

In a report by The Verge, the app will be all about artists collaborating with one another to produce new content. In the official blog post by Facebook, the company says, “Collabs are three independent videos that are playing in sync. With the app, you can create your own arrangement by adding in your own recording or by swiping and discovering an arrangement to complete your composition. No musical experience is required.” From what we’ve seen and read, the content is going to be sharable across all platforms. How it works is that the app will allow three different users to play various instruments in a song and the app will then edit them together into one video.

The post also says, “Collab has made our team feel closer together, even though we are all apart, and we hope it does the same for you. We still have plenty of work left to polish the experience (disclaimer: there may be bugs and if you find an issue, please report it). With your feedback, we’ll continue iterating in an effort to build an experience that everyone enjoys.”

So, we will have to wait and see if Collab is the next rival to the behemoth that is TikTok. Facebook has also recently launched CatchUp, an audio-only chatting app. You can read more about that story here. The company has also launched Facebook Shops, which is an online marketplace and you can read more about that here. And talking about acquisitions, the social media giant has also just purchased Gif-making site, Giphy for a whopping $400 million. You can read more about that story, here.

Vodafone Idea launches Rs 251 data voucher to combat Reliance Jio and Airtel

If you are a Vodafone prepaid user, then there is good news for you. Vodafone Idea has launched a Rs 251 add-on voucher that brings with it a validity of 28 days and a data cap of 50GB. There is no daily limit in this voucher and users can use it as they please. This is a data-only top up, so there is no calling or SMS as a part of the recharge. Vodafone has launched this plan to take on the Rs 251 plan from Reliance Jio and Airtel. The Vodafone plan is available in limited circles only, so you will have to check if the recharge option is available for you or not.

Speaking of the competition, Airtel’s Rs 251 data voucher works as an add-on voucher that gives you 50GB worth of data without any validity. This means that you’ll get 50GB on top of your existing tariff plans with the same validity as your current active plan. This new tariff plan provides 50GB data in a single go with no daily data capping. So this 50GB will be available as long as you have a plan that gives your mobile number validity.

Reliance Jio, on the other hand, is giving its users options with data top-up plans. All three data plans come with 30-day validity. The plans are priced at Rs 151, Rs 201, and Rs 251 and bring with them data capacity of 30GB, 40GB, and 50GB respectively. These are a part of Reliance Jio’s work from home plans and do not bring with them any calling or messaging abilities.

If you are looking to upgrade your broadband to an unlimited broadband plan, you can check out our comparison of all unlimited broadband plans here.

If long term validity is what you are looking for then you can check out the plans offered by BSNL. The BSNL Rs 2399 plan gives users a validity of 600 days i.e. 1.64 years! With this plan, users get 250 minutes of calling per day i.e., 4.16 hours of calling per day and 100 SMS per day limit. There is, unfortunately, no data as a part of the plan and those that use data will be charged Rs 0.25 per MB used. So users who opt for this plan will have to rely on some data pack for internet usage. You can read more about it here.
