Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 postponed in the wake of ongoing protests across the United States

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 and Modern Warfare Season 4 have been postponed due to protests taking place across the United States. Activision, the publisher of the popular mobile and PC titles has said in a statement that it feels “now is not the time” to release the update for the new seasons.

The new season of Call of Duty: Mobile was set to go live later this week but as it stands now, the company won’t be seeding the Season 7 update as previously planned. In a public statement, Activision says “Right now it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard.”

This comes after citizens of the United States are out on the streets protesting against the killing of George Floyd and the ensuing police brutality. Releasing an update to a first-person shooting title could have been deemed insensitive which is likely the reason as to why Activision decided to postpone the updates.

There’s currently no word on when COD: Mobile will receive an update to Season 7.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7: What’s new?

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 is themed Radioactive Agent with new outfits and weapon skins that reflect the new season. The new update also brings in Battle Royale map expansion with new areas along the north and north-eastern borders of the Isolated map.

Some of these new areas are snow-covered with more urban locations positioned towards the west. New locations include SkiTown, Harbor, Sanatarium and Heat, to name a few. The devs have also released a short teaser video for the new locations and Sanatarium seems to be a very interesting location, opening up possibilities for indoor close-quarters combat.

The new update could also bring in a new vehicle in the form of a tank, something that’s been missing from the game from the start. There are tanks placed across some maps but these are unplayable vehicles. So, as the developers roll out the new update, expect teams to carry additional anti-vehicle weapons just in case they run into a tank.

The developers have also hinted at making the Nova-6 lethal gas grenade used in Battle Royale available in Multiplayer mode.

Players who manage to reach Gold III will be rewarded with an exclusive Desert Eagle gun skin called the Golden Eagle.

A couple of ‘professional’ gamers were caught using hacks/mods during the Scrim Wars that happened a few weeks ago. Garena Free Fire OB22 Patch landing tomorrow

Other additions include a new version of Bomb Squad with more obvious objectives, additional Emote slots per Survivor, Active Skill Exchange between characters, and the new M82B sniper rifle that’s capable of penetrating the Gloo Walls.

Finally, the game will see the addition of a new character called Wolfrahh. His backstory is that he is a 19-year old Swedish video game streamer and esports player whose in-game skill, Limelight, is powered by his viewers. With every additional viewer that tunes in or every additional kill made, damage taken from headshots decreases by up to 25%. There is also a flying pet called Falco that includes the speed you dive down from the plane.

Financial and personal data of more than 7 million users left exposed in CSC BHIM website breach, NCPI denies allegations

Sensitive data of more than 7 million BHIM app users have been compromised after a BHIM-related website was found exposed to the public, containing sensitive documents like Aadhaar cards, caste certificates and more, by an Israeli cybersecurity website called vpnMentor. Calling themselves a group of ethical hackers, they had reported the breach to the Indian authorities in April.

The website, http://cscbhim.in/, now taken down, was reportedly storing data on an Amazon AWS server which was kept exposed to the internet. The breach was later plugged by CSC e-Governance Services that built the website on May 22nd, according to the blog post by the cybersecurity firm.

Personal and financial records of 7 million BHIM app users left exposed

The magnitude of the breach is extraordinary. The report claims everything from scans of Aadhaar cards, caste certificates, photos used as proof of residence, professional certificates, degrees, diplomas, screenshots taken within the app as proof of fund transfers, PAN cards, and more have been left exposed for any malicious hacker to find it.

The breach also included the names, date of birth, age, gender, home address, religion, caste status, biometric details, fingerprint scans and ID numbers for government social security services.

The corpus of the breached data indicates this is by far the most comprehensive leak of Indian data, one that can easily be used for identity theft. And there have been quite a few over the past few years. The report mentions that the breached website also contained data of minors with some records belonging to people under 18 years.

Similarly, over 1 million CSV lists of individual app users and their UPI IDs were also left exposed.

Furthermore, the breach contained an APK which could potentially give key access to all data, and the ability to start and stop the AWS servers at will by a malicious agent.

NCPI denied the breach

Digit.in independently reached out to NCPI to verify the breach. To which, the payments corporation that overlooks the online payments landscape in India, as well as the operations of the BHIM app, denied any compromise in their data.

“We would like to clarify that there has been no data compromise at BHIM App and request everyone to not fall prey to such speculations,” the organisation said in a statement.

“NPCI follows a high level of security and an integrated approach to protect its infrastructure and continue to provide a robust payments ecosystem,” the statement added.

How did the data breach happen?

The website was reportedly used in a campaign to sign up more users and merchants on the BHIM UPI app. The personal records dated as far back as February 2019 with the total size of the dump going up to 409GB.

VpnMentor found an unsecured Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 bucket housing the data. S3 buckets are a common way of storing data in the cloud but require the developer to designate security protocols to secure the data. The team was quickly able to identify who the data bucket belonged to.

The cybersecurity firm was reportedly working on a huge web mapping project and using port scanning to examine particular IP blocks to test for weaknesses and vulnerabilities. This is when they discovered the unsecured AWS S3 Bucket.

Data left exposed even after informing NCPI and CERT-In

After investigating the breach, vpnMentor first reached out to the website developer CSC e-Governance, for which they did not receive a reply. After that, the group also contacted India’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) twice, and only after the second instance was the breach plugged. The website has now been taken down.

Blaupunkt launches SBWL03 soundbar with wireless subwoofer in India priced at Rs 13,990

German brand Blaupunkt has launched a new soundbar in India. It is priced at Rs 13,990 and comes with an 8-inch wireless subwoofer. It comes with a remote control and a bunch of connectivity options including Bluetooth, HDMI ARC, Optical, USB and AUX-In. The soundbar and subwoofer weigh 8.5kgs and it also supports Dolby Audio. Let’s take a look at everything the soundbar brings to the table.

Blaupunkt SBWL03 soundbar specifications and features

As mentioned above, the Blaupunkt SBWL03 brings with it support for Dolby Audio. It is a 2.1 setup which means that the bar itself has 2 drivers and it comes with a wireless subwoofer. The wireless subwoofer is 8-inches. The wireless subwoofer gives you the flexibility to place the soundbar in that perfect sweet spot in the room without having to worry about physically connecting it to the soundbar. You will, however, need to have a power outlet close to the placement of the soundbar. The soundbar comes with multiple modes -  Music, Movie, News and 3D. Users can change the mode from the comfort of the remote control as well. When it comes to connectivity, the soundbar has Bluetooth, HDMI ARC, Optical, USB and AUX-In. Users can change the input from the remote control as well. The remote control also lets you control the volume, bass and treble in addition to controlling music playback when playing content via Bluetooth or USB. In the box, users get only an AUX cable and no optical or HDMI cable.

Blaupunkt SBWL03 soundbar price and availability

The Blaupunkt SBWL03 soundbar is priced at Rs 13,990 and is available on Amazon.

We have reviewed Blaupunkt's budget offering, the Blaupunkt SBW-02. In our review, we said, "For a price point of Rs 8,500 you get a soundbar with good overall performance, easy setup, and convenient remote control. The sound output for the price point won't disappoint you when connected using line in. However, remember that the HDMI ARC performance of the soundbar is poor and will leave you wanting more."

If you are in the market to pick up a soundbar and have a budget of about Rs 15,000 then you can check out our review of the recently launched Sony HT-S20R. The soundbar is priced at Rs 14,990 and comes with rear surround speakers as well. In our review of the Sony HT-S20R, we said, “For about Rs 15,000 you get a decently-built home theatre in a box that's easy to set up with an array of connectivity options. It will definitely enhance your TV viewing experience. It will also sit flush under a small TV without looking oversized. However, its music performance may not appeal to audiophiles and the low front channel separation is noticeable. The presence of HDMI passthrough is missed. If you are new to the world of home theatres and are looking to invest in an entry-level system as a first-time experience, then you can consider Sony HT-S20R. However, Sony’s own HT-RT3 offers slightly better performance and features for just Rs 3,000 more, making it hard to recommend the S20R if your budget is slightly flexible and you have a little more space in your entertainment centre”.
