Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 Radioactive Agent update: Everything you need to know

Activision has announced that it will finally roll out the Season 7 update for Call of Duty: Mobile tomorrow. In fact, it is already rolling out and may reach some players earlier than expected. The update was initially scheduled to release in the first week of June but was delayed due to the unrest in the United States. The company has already revealed the patch notes for the game on Reddit and as one might expect, the update brings with it a host of changes, updates, bug fixes, and new additions.

Battle Pass bonuses

The new Battle Pass will be available from June 12 onwards and as usual, it will be available in free and premium variants. Free Battle Pass rewards include a new base-level QQ9 SMG that promises fully automatic fire with good accuracy. There is also a new Scorestreak called the Cluster Strike that causes continuous missile bombardment on a designated location. Those who purchase the Premium Battle Pass will get two new epic soldiers, namely, Ghost - Hazmat, and Krueger - Alchemist. They will also get an epic version of the QQ9 SMG called the QQ9 - Flood. They will also get new epic Barricade-themed weapons.

New Events

The new season also comes with a bunch of new challenges and missions that offer new rewards. This includes a new battle royale class called Smoke Bomber. This skill releases multiple smoke bombs on a target area when activated. The passive ability lets players see through smoke and increases movement speed if attacked while running. Players can also win a new base LMG called the Chopped that is fully automatic with a high rate of fire. It is said to be effective at medium to long ranges. Other rewards include a new epic weapon and a new epic character.

Battle Royale

The most notable new addition in Season 7 is to the Battle Royale mode. The map has been expanded and features a number of new locations. This includes Black Market, Downtown, Sanitarium, Ski Town, Frigid Wetlands, Harbor, Heat and more. However, these locations also hold some surprises like the vending machines in the Black Market, the secret room in Sanatarium and the Ball Room downtown.

There is also the addition of a Tank in the game. This weaponised vehicle is said to pack a 120mm smoothbore gun and a powerful heavy machine gun. The vehicle will not spawn like the other vehicles in the game but will be airdropped during the mid-to-late game.

The map will now also spawn weapons like the Man O War assault rifle and the DLQ33 sniper rifle. There is also a new legendary weapon called the Tempest that generates a lightning bolt that can paralyse an enemy. In terms of attachments, players can now equip a tactical flashlight that can blind enemies in close-range when the player is aiming down sights. There is also the  Dead Silence Suppressor and the Iron Hand Stock. The former hides your location from the enemy’s minimap when firing your weapon while the latter increases movement speed when aiming and ensures stability even when attacked. Other changes include new background music for the Warfare mode and the replacement of the Cerberus Monster in the farm with Butcher.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer sees the addition of two new maps. The first is Tunisia, which is based on a Mediterranean beach town, and the second is the Gulag, which is from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The former will be featured in Search & Destroy, Domination, and Attack of the Undead, while the latter will be playable in 1v1 Duel, and Gunfight.

The Multiplayer also sees the addition of a new game mode called Attack of the Undead. In this game mode, all players start as survivors. But one will become the undead. The Undead player can revive unlimited times and any survivor killed becomes the undead. Survivors need to stay alive until the end, while the undead needs to hunt down the survivor. This mode will be available in Tunisia, Standoff, Summit, Raid, and Crash maps.

There is also the addition of a new training mode that will allow players to test out weapons and improve their skills without being interrupted.

The game also brings with it a host of optimisations, fixes and weapon rebalancing. You can learn more about that here.

Mi Laptop 14 Horizon Edition first impressions: A serious threat to the competition

Laptops aren’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Xiaomi, but as it so happens, the company has been making laptops for some time now. If you have had a friend travel to China or seen our coverage from CES, you would have seen photos of these laptops and there’s no denying that they’re good. The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition is the company’s first laptop to be launched in India, and as per the company, it’s been designed specifically for India and is being launched in the country before anywhere else in the world. Xiaomi sent over their Made-for-India Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition for us to review. While the laptop is still under review, just two days of using it have definitely left us with some impressions

Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition Specifications

The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition comes with some very impressive specs. The unit we have runs off the 10th generation Intel Core i7-10510U. This is a quad-core processor with 4 cores, 8 threads and has a base clock speed of 1.8GHz and a boost clock of 4.90GHz. Accompanying the Comet Lake processor is Nvidia’s GeForce MX350 graphics with 2GB VRAM. This is the first laptop to launch in India with this GPU. There’s 8GB of DDR4 memory clocked at 2666MHz. Last but not the least, we also get a 512GB NVMe drive, which operates at PCIe 3.0 x4. The display used by Xiaomi is a 14-inch full HD display with a matte coating. The Horizon Edition means that the display is surrounded by slim bezels on three sides, measuring a measly 3mm.

Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition is a premium laptop powered by Intel 10th generation processors and Nvidia graphics

Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition Special Features

The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition doesn’t feel like a laptop that’s “just been put together by using available parts.” It is a laptop that feels purpose-built. After you take the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition out of its very standard cardboard box, you realise that you’re holding a laptop that feels almost as premium as a Lenovo or Dell machine. The whole thing is made using magnesium alloy but does not give off a “MacBook” vibe, which is great. There really is no way to iterate the high quality of the build, but you can definitely see the very minimal nature of the design. There’s no branding anywhere, except the mi logo on the bottom bezel of the display and an Intel Core i7 sticker on the bottom right corner of the keyboard island. I like minimal and I’m sure you will too. The narrow bezel display is definitely appreciated, but in terms of its peak brightness and colour accuracy, that’s a matter for the in-depth review that will come later. Saving the best for last is the Nvidia GeForce MX350, which has been often claimed to almost match the performance of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050. There are definitely more things to talk about, but we also want to leave some things for our longer review that comes out in a few days.

`The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition is a feature packed laptop, one of the first in India to come with Nvidia GeForce MX 350 graphicis.

Using the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition

While I’ve only had the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition fore two days, I have been using it to do most of my work like writing and even light photo editing (RAW files from a Sony A7 Mark3). The laptop has been chugging along mostly just fine, without throwing any serious performance issues my way. What stands out is the incredibly thin and light design, without compromising on the rigidity of the body. However, there is one glaring omission from the laptop and that’s the webcam. Xiaomi prioritized the slim bezels on this machine, so there’s no built-in webcam. Instead, the company provides an external USB-webcam in the box which slides neatly onto the display. This is actually also quite great if you’re the paranoid kind who has his/her webcam taped up like me.

Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition First Impressions

Honestly, I was expecting a flimsy laptop, built using plastic parts. I expected the lid to have a lot of flex and the overall build to feel cheap. I have no shame in admitting how wrong I was. The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition is built extremely well. Their choice of features and specifications also allude to a well thought out machine, choosing the performance-oriented Comet Lake processor over Ice Lake. The fact that we get a 512GB NVMe drive operating at a full PCIe 3.0 x4 interface is also super impressive. You get all this at an incredibly competitive price, with Xiaomi claiming that the models that the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition competes against, coming in at the Rs 80,000-85,000 range, while this fully spec'd machine costs only Rs. 59,999. Early benchmarks of the processor do tell a favourable story, but the laptop still has a very long way to go in terms of testing. The initial impressions of the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition are highly favourable, but we will reserve our verdict on the laptop’s value proposition for our full review, which comes out June 16 2020.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 launched: Price, features, and everything you need to know

The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been a hotly anticipated wearable, especially after the success of the previous few wearables which essentially kickstarted the budget segment for the category. And, as fate would have it, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has now been launched in China. Let's take a deeper look at the design, specs and price of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Design and Display

Quite expectedly, the Mi Band 5 comes with a 1.2-inch OLED display, but even more importantly, it will be the first in the series to support a magnetic charging dock, fixing one of the most annoying things about the band. You will no longer have to take the tiny wearable out from the strap to charge it. The screen does come with slightly smaller bezels with a large area to give users a better look at the display.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 features

The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 comes with a SpO2 blood-oxygen saturation sensor, that helps keep track of breathing and stress. The wearable will also work as a remote camera shutter and the Mi Band 5 is tipped to come with NFC for contactless payments, even outside China for the first time. As of now, we can't say if it'll work in India until the Mi Band 5 is launched here.

As for the health indicators, the Mi Band 5 will have 11 new activity trackers. Namely, Outdoor running, Treadmill, Cycling, Walking, Freestyle, Pool swimming, Elliptical (New), Rowing machine (New), Jump rope (New), Indoor cycling (New), and Yoga (New).

The Mi Band 5 also comes with some stress and breathing management features that will give you instructions on exhaling and inhaling. And of course, some new watch faces.

The Mi Band 5 will launch in eight colours — Black, yellow, red, deep blue, grey, purple, pink, green

And, while the launch did not reveal anything about support for a virtual assistant, rumour has it that the Mi Band 5 will have native Alexa support.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 price and availability

Now that the device has been officially launched, we can see that the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 without NFC will cost around 189 Yuan (Rs 2030 approx) while the model that comes with NFC support will be priced at 229 yuan (Rs 2455 approx). Both variants will be going on sale on June 18 in China.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 will be available from June 12

Call of Duty: Mobile will finally be launching the Season 7 update on June 12, 2020. The developers initially planned to launch the update in the first week of June, but was delayed due to the ongoing protests in the United States. The update will be called Radioactive Agent and will feature a radiological and chemical warfare theme.

The new update will have an extra focus on the game’s battle royale mode and will feature an expanded version of the game’s Isolated map. The map will feature new areas to the north and north-east. This will include locations such as Harbor, Skitown, Heat, Black Market and more. The developers recently revealed more information about these locations and you can learn more about them here.

Besides this, the developers also added a new vehicle to battle royale in the form of a tank. This is a weaponised vehicle and like any tank, it features the main gun on a turret that fires explosive shells. The game is also expected to introduce a new boss battle for players.

Besides this, the developers will also be adding a new multiplayer map called Tunisia. This map is set in the Mediterranean region with colourful buildings. The map focuses on urban warfare with a mix of different ranges. This should keep all types of players happy.

Of course, the season will also come with a new battle pass that will come with new skins, and possibly new scorestreaks or operator skills. It should also offer a few new weapons and a new battle royale skill.
