Instagram will now let creators sell products directly from the app

Instagram will allow creators to sell their merchandise directly through the platform beginning next month. The Facebook-owned social networking app extended access to Instagram Shopping to more types of businesses with new commerce eligibility requirements.

"Whether you are a candle business making a foray into e-commerce, a musician selling merch or a food blogger expanding into your own cookware line, any eligible business or creator account with at least one eligible product can use shopping tags to drive people to their website to make a purchase,” Instagram wrote in a blog post.

Businesses who are eligible can start selling their products directly on Instagram starting July 9 in all countries where Instagram Shopping is supported, including India. Eligible merchants can tag products they want to sell through organic posts or stories or have them surface on the Search and Explore tab. The tags will highlight the product that’s on sale from the photo, and clicking on it will redirect to the merchant’s website where users can purchase the product.

The products must be tagged from a single website which is owned by the business, so ensure a consistent and trusted shopping experience.

Shopping tags was first rolled out by Instagram in 2016, followed by shopping tags in Instagram Stories in 2018. Instagram also opened up shopping features for celebrities and influencers in 2019. But so far, Instagram had largely left out creators from the shopping experience. The updated eligibility requirements also brings them into the fold.

NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti specifications indicate 78 more power than RTX 2080 Ti

NVIDIA’s Ampere RTX 3000 cards are about to launch in a few months and the leaks have started pouring in already. The latest of which happens to be a screenshot of the specifications of the RTX 3080 Ti Founder Edition graphics card. This latest leak, while it is unlikely to be true at this juncture, states that the RTX 3080 Ti will have 5376 CUDA Cores with a Boost clock of 2200 MHz. It also indicates that the high-end RTX 3080 Ti will have 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM running at 18 Gbps giving it a total bandwidth of 863 GB/s and will be designed with a TDP of 320W. The GPU powering the RTX 3080 Ti will supposedly be an NVIDIA Ampere GA102-400-A1. As per some back of the hand calculations, these specs indicate that the RTX 3080 Ti could be anywhere from 33% to 78% more powerful than the RTX 2080 Ti.

Rumoured specifications of the NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition

Twitter user CyberPunkCat (https://twitter.com/CyberCatPunk) posted an image which appears to be a screenshot of the specifications of the NVIDIA Ampere RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition. It states that the GPU powering it will be a GA102-400-A1 which will have 5376 CUDA Cores with a boost frequency of 2200 MHz. The Single Precision (FP32) performance is mentioned to be 21 TFLOPS and on the memory side of things, the RTX 3080 Ti will feature 12 GB of Samsung GDDR6 NAND chips running @ 18 Gbps. The total bandwidth will be 836 GB/s and the TDP for the board will be 320W.

NVIDIA Ampere RTX 3080 Ti Specifications

Previous rumours indicate the presence of three GPUs, the GA102-200, GA102-300 and GA102-400. If we are to look at the plausibility of these specifications then a boost clock of 2200MHz is very much possible since the RTX 2080 which is built on a 12nm process did manage 2098 MHz boost clock on the MSI RTX 2080 Ti Lightning Z edition. And if we are to consider exotic cooling, then this particular graphics card was even overclocked to 2505 MHz under LN2.

Coming to the core count, with 5376 CUDA Cores @ a boost clock of 2200 MHz, the FP32 performance comes out to be 23.6 TFLOPS. The leak states 21 TFLOPS of FP32 performance which points to a base clock of approximately 1950 MHz. Compared to the 11.8 TFLOPS that the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti Founder Edition was capable of at base clock, the RTX 3080 Ti ends up being 78% more powerful at 21 TFLOPS. NVIDIA has usually maintained a gen-on-gen performance increment of approximately 30% so such a high performance delta becomes very difficult to believe. Even the Ampere A100, which is an enterprise grade GPU powering the DGX-A100 only provides 19.5 TFLOPS of FP32 performance. So for NVIDIA to release a consumer card that’s more powerful than its enterprise card seems extremely unlikely. Even the performance delta between the Ampere A100 and the Volta V100 is 24.5% so this particular leak with its supernormal performance delta is as good as fake.

OnePlus confirms launch of affordable phone, could be called OnePlus lite Z

The OnePlus Z, or the OnePlus 8 Lite or the OnePlus Nord, whatever the name be — It’s real. OnePlus just confirmed it. CEO Pete Lau wrote a forum post announcing a “new, more affordable smartphone product line.” But it's real name is still a mystery.

OnePlus executives have been teasing the smartphone for a while under the hype of “new beginnings”. That’s exactly what Lau wrote about announcing the lineup. The smartphone introduced first in Europe and India, and with a US launch kept for the future.

OnePlus also opened a new Instagram account called "onepluszlitething", which is gaining hundreds of followers by the minute. News about the upcoming smartphone will break first on Instagram, according to the OnePlus Twitter handle. The account already has three posts teasing the phone, but nothing concrete. The name of the account throws more light to what the phone will be officially named. But it also reads as a mashup of every name the rumour mill has pinned on the upcoming smartphone phone. Curiously missing is the word 'Nord' from the name, which was a name of a trademark which the company had filed.

Lau had also released a new OnePlus logo with the hashtag #NewBeginnings on Monday while OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei tweeted “It’s time to rock the boat again”, under the same hashtag.

Which pretty much confirms a cheaper OnePlus smartphone will soon be here. The company has a penchant of keeping fans under a drip-feed of information right before launching a new product. And by the looks of it, things are at full swing with something new about the smartphone expected almost every day.

Lau wrote the product line is led by Paul Yu, who has headed product development for many of OnePlus’ flagship devices over the past five years.

Not just one smartphone, OnePlus Lite Z could be a whole new lineup

Reading into the lines, it's clear that the upcoming lineup will sit below the premium flagships. OnePlus smartphones have increasingly become more expensive with the OnePlus 8 Pro now going way over Rs 50,000.

"Never Settle has always been at the core of OnePlus. For more than 6 years, that has meant working hard to always deliver the best experience for flagship smartphone users. However, as we’ve grown together with our community, we know that there are many people who want a really solid smartphone that meets their everyday needs, and for a more accessible price," Lau wrote.

The words can also interpreted to mean there will be more than one smartphone, as Lau calls it a “product line”. It could be a Pro version of this smartphone, or could simply be recurring launches in subsequent years.

Nevertheless, going by the rumours and leaks, the upcoming OnePlus smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, which sits right below the flagship Snapdragon 865, and comes with an integrated 5G modem and a host of Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. The phone is also expected to come with a 90Hz AMOLED display with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. On the back, it’s rumoured to rock a quad camera stack with a 64MP primary sensor. It’s also expected to sport a 4,300mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. Carl Pei even suggested the phone could be priced as much as the original OnePlus One, which launched at around Rs 22,000.

The phone recently popped up on TUV Rheinland website with the model number AC2003. But the official name of the smartphone is not confirmed as of now.
