JioMeet free video calling app launched by Reliance Jio to take on Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams

JioMeet, a free video calling app by Reliance Jio has been launched across multiple platforms with an aim to take on Zoom and Google Meet. Previously, Jio while announcing its Q4 fiscal results, revealed that it's looking to launch a new cross-platform video calling solution in India very soon. In fact, a beta version of the app was also listed on Play Store but was removed, likely in the heads up to the official launch.

JioMeet supports direct video calls and can also be used to host meetings with up to 100 participants across multiple platforms like Android, Windows and even works on a browser such as Google Chrome. Let’s take a look at the features of the JioMeet video calling service and how to download and use it.

JioMeet video calling app: How to download?

Reliance Jio’s JioMeet is a multi-platform video conferencing solution that’s available as an app for Android and iOS smartphones, Microsoft Windows and a web app that can be used with browsers such as Google Chrome. There’s an Outlook plugin for the JioMeet service available as well.

For mobile phones, download JioMeet from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. If you’re using a desktop or laptop and want to use JioMeet, there’s a dedicated Microsoft Windows app available along with support for WebRTC which means that you can access JioMeet on a browser without having to download the app.

Once you have downloaded the app, open it and tap on Sign up. You will then need to enter your phone number or email ID, followed by your first and last name. Tap on Next and you should receive an OTP to verify your login details. Enter the OTP, tap Next and you should reach the home screen of the app.

From here, you can make audio and video calls to your contacts and also share your meeting ID to conduct a business meeting.

JioMeet video calling app features

With Jio Meet, users can initiate a video conferencing with their friends, family or even work calls. The service supports group calling of up to 100 participants and users can join a meeting from any device they own, be it a smartphone or a laptop. The service also supports legacy video conferencing devices that are used by businesses and also offers group and individual host controls.

The app supports HD (720p) video calling quality but the connectivity depends on the network and bandwidth offered by your ISP. JioMeet is also capable of adjusting video call quality according to the network zone and ensures zero lag.

The app also offers host control options and records logs of audio and video calls. Users can share the meeting link and give attendees the pin password to join the call. There’s an option to schedule a meeting on the app as well.

Reliance Jio had previously said that the JioMeet video calling solution will be integrated with the company’s eHealth platform, allowing users to consult with doctors and more. However, the current build of the service doesn’t have any additional features and works well as a free video calling solution.

Honor X10 Max and Honor 30 Lite with MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor: Specifications, pricing and more

Honor X10 Max and Honor 30 Lite with MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset have launched in China. The X10 Max features a large 7.09-inch display while the Honor 30 Lite has a 90Hz refresh rate display and comes with triple cameras on the back. Both the phones support fast charging out-of-the-box. There’s currently no word on the launch of Honor X10 Max and Honor 30 Lite in India.

Honor X10 Max specifications and pricing

The X10 Max features a 7.09-inch Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with a waterdrop notch cutout for the front-facing camera. The screen is HDR10 certified and has a 19:9 aspect ratio.

It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset with 5G support, an octa-core CPU and a Mali-G57 CPU. This is paired with upto 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage, with an option to expand the storage by upto 256GB. The phone runs on Android 10 based Magic UI 3.1 but doesn’t support Google Play Services. 

The X10 Max comes with a 48MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor on the back and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The rear cameras are capable of recording in 4K at 30FPS with support for electronic image stabilization.

The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and comes fitted with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging.

Honor X10 Max starts at CNY 2,099 (~Rs 22,190) for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage while the 8GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 2,499 (~Rs 26,400).

Honor 30 Lite specifications and pricing

Honor 30 Lite features a 6.5-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display that supports 90Hz high refresh rate and has a u-shaped notch cutout for the selfie camera. The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset with an octa-core CPU and is paired with upto 8GB RAM and 128GB storage options to choose from. The phone runs on Android 10 but without the Google Play Services.

The Honor 30 Lite comes with a triple camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 48MP camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera with 120-degree field-of-view and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera housed within the notch cutout.

It comes with a 4,000mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast-charging out-of-the-box.

The Honor 30 Lite is priced starting at CNY 1,699 (~Rs 17,960) for the base variant with 6GB RAMa nd 64GB storage, CNY 1,899 (~Rs 20,000) for the variant with 128GB storage and CNY 2,199 (~Rs 23,200) for the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

OnePlus launches 32-inch, 43-inch and 55-inch TV in India starting at Rs 12,999

OnePlus has been teasing the launch of its 2020 TVs for a while now and it looks like most of the rumours and leaks were right. OnePlus has announced three TVs as a part of their Y series and U series. The Y series has two TVs - a 32-inch HD ready TV and a 43-inch FHD TV priced at Rs 12,999 and Rs 22,999 respectively. The U series has just one TV as of now - U1 priced at Rs 49,999. This is a 55-inch TV and brings with it a resolution of 4K with support for HDR and Dolby Vision along with Dolby Atmos support. All three TVs run on the Android TV platform and come with OnePlus’ own Oxygen Play UI.

OnePlus Y series TV specifications and features

Like we said above, the OnePlus Y series comes in two screen sizes - 32-inch HD ready and 43-inch Full HD. The display panel claims to cover 93 percent of the DCIP-3 colour space and it also has OnePlus’ Gama Engine to enhance the picture quality. The TV runs on Android 9 out of the box and comes with OnePlus’ own Oxygen Play UI which is very reminiscent of Xiaomi’s PatchWall UI. It also brings with it a data saver mode that functions a lot like Xiaomi’s data saver on their TVs. Because the TV runs on Android TV, it has Chromecast built-in and also supports the Google Assistant. 

Users can also control the TV using the OnePlus Connect app available on iOS and Android. They can use the app to connect the TV to their mobile hotspot.  The TVs come with 20W of sound output. 

OnePlus Y series TV Price in India

The 32-inch HD Ready OnePlus Y series TV is priced at rs Rs 12,999 and the 43-inch Full HD OnePlus Y series TV is priced at Rs 22,999. The OnePlus TV Y Series 32-inch will be available starting 5 July, 2020 on Amazon.in. The OnePlus TV Y series 43-inch will be available to customers soon.

OnePlus U 55-inch 4K HDR TV Specifications and features

The third TV in this lineup is the OnePlus U series TV. The U1 is a 4K HDR TV with support for HDR 10, HDR 10+, HLG, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. We don't know the peak brightness in nits for the TV. It has a VA panel. The TV also claims to cover 93 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space. It also boasts of features such as MEMC, Noise reduction, colour space mapping, dynamic contrast and Anti Aliasing. It is 6.9mm thin and has a 95 percent screen to body ratio. 

It also runs on Android TV bringing with it access to the Play Store for your streaming service needs. It has OnePlus’ own UI and you can use the smartphone app to control the TV. It also has a data saver mode. For audio, it has 4 drivers producing a total output of 30W. 

OnePlus U 55-inch 4K HDR TV Price in India

The 55-inch OnePlus U 4K HDR TV is priced at Rs 49,999 in India but there is no launch date revealed for the TV.

Poco M2 Pro visits Geekbench ahead of its official launch on July 7 in India

Poco M2 Pro has been spotted on Geekbench ahead of its official launch on July 7 in India. The M2 Pro is the first phone in a new lineup by Poco and as per previous leaks and rumours, we’re looking at mid-range hardware and likely aggressive pricing. The Poco M2 Pro was spotted in a Geekbench listing that awarded it a single-core score of 554 points and a multi-core score of 1757 points. While the listing doesn’t reveal the exact hardware specifications, we do get to know that it will run on Android 10 out-of-the-box and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a base frequency of 1.80GHz paired with 6GB RAM. Let’s take a look at the leaked and rumoured specifications of the Poco M2 Pro.

Poco M2 Pro leaked specifications

The Poco M2 Pro is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G as it is speculated to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro, albeit with some changes. It is also confirmed that the Poco M2 Pro features a quad-camera setup on the back, side-mounted fingerprint reader and support for 33W fast charging. 

Poco M2 Pro is rumoured to be based on the Redmi Note 9 Pro which features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with punch-hole cutout. It comes with a quad-camera setup on the back which includes a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. 

On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera housed within the punch-hole cutout. The Note 9 Pro also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor just as it is teased for the Poco M2 Pro. While the Note 9 Pro supports 18W fast charging, Poco has confirmed that the M2 Pro will support 33W fast charging, however, it’s currently not known if the battery is rated at 5,020mAh or lower.

The Poco M2 Pro has also been confirmed to run on Android 10 and we could see the Poco Launcher return as the UI of choice. We’ll know more on July 7 including the price and availability of the Poco M2 Pro.
