Earlier rumours have hinted that the upcoming gaming phone will be powered by an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865 chip but this latest development indicates that it is the Snapdragon 865 Plus chip.

Qualcomm hasn’t officially announced the Snapdragon 865 Plus chip yet which is why the ROG Phone 3 could be the first phone to come with the overclocked chipset. While the tweet by Asus was deleted, several eagle-eyed users took a screenshot of the tweet and reposted it.

TikTok alternative Instagram Reels debut today in India: Heres how to use it

Instagram has been working on its TikTok-alternative called Reels for a while now. The in-app feature was being tested in Brazil till last year, and now the company is planning to do a broad pilot test in India. The move comes after the Indian Government banned TikTok along with 58 other Chinese apps.

Reels will not only attempt to fill up the vacuum left by the popular short video sharing platform, but it will also compete with a bunch of homegrown alternatives like Chingari, Roposo and Mitron among others.

According to reports, Instagram plans to roll out the Reels feature to users in India from 7:30 PM on Wednesday, July 8. The feature will have content populated by some viral internet stars like RJ Abhinav, Kusha Kapila, Radhika Bangia, Ammy Virk and more.

How does Instagram Reels work?

Using the Reels feature, users will be able to create short, 15-second videos in which they can lip-sync with music or other audio in the background. Users can also remix audio from existing clips from other accounts. Reels will have an editing section where users can adjust the video speed, add a countdown timer and more.

Furthermore, you can add music tracks, filters and AR effects to Reels. Facebook has even landed a deal with Saregama to get access to a catalogue of over 10,000 songs across various Indian genres in more than 25 Indian languages. Facebook also has similar deals in place with T-Series, Yash Raj Films and Zee Music Company to allow more popular Bollywood tracks for the videos.

Instagram Reels will also offer the option to attach multiple 15-second clips to help with seamless transitions in your content.

Where can you see Instagram Reels?

Reels will show up on the Instagram Explore tab which will help creators reach a larger base of audience. It can also be accessed from the Camera button within the Instagram app, similar to how you create an Instagram Story. Reel creators can also be searched using music tracks, apart from searching by the account name. A public account can also share the Reels in the Explore Tab. Reels will also appear when searching by the hashtag, AR effect or the music track.

Who will be on Instagram Reels?

If TikTok was anything to go by, the short video social networks thrive on influencer activities who command million-strong fanbases. Influencers, viral stars and unique content creators make videos that are funny and engaging and can often be endorsed by a brand as part of a paid-partnership deal. It's also how thousands of influencers earn a living on Instagram. Reels will also have a bunch of known faces from the social media circuit at launch — The list includes Ammy Virk, Gippy Grewal, Komal Pandey, Arjun Kanungo, Jahnavi Dasetty aka Mahathalli, Indrani Biswas aka Wondermunna, Kusha Kapila, Radhika Bangia, RJ Abhinav and Ankush Bhaguna.

Everything We Got Out Of Nacon Connect

Earlier today, French publisher, Nacon held their online digital event, Nacon Connect, to give an insight into their upcoming titles and hardware that they were working on. Unlike other gaming events up until now, this one was a standalone event. Meaning, it was not part of the Summer Game Fest. The event had some super cool announcements including RiMS Racing - a motorcycle simulation game with tons of customization options coming out in 2021, Roguebook a roguelike deck-building card game, Tennis World Tour 2 and Warhammer: Chaosbane coming to the next-gen consoles. On the hardware side, Nacon announced new upcoming peripherals in partnership with RIG and Microsoft. With that out of the way, let us now take a look at the games that were revealed at Nacon Connect:

Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong

The first reveal comes from Big Bad Wolf Studio, who announced the all-new story-driven choice-based RPG game, Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong. In the game, you play as 3 vampires, each with separate abilities and backstories. The game gives you tons of choices to proceed with the mystical story and each of those choices will have a profound impact on the city of Boston. Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong comes out in 2021 on PC via Epic Games Store and the current and next-gen consoles.

Rogue Lords

Rogue Lords is a turn-based roguelike combat game where you play as the Devil in a dystopian world, similar to 17th century England. Your job as the player is to recruit famous monsters such as Dracula and Bloody Mary to fight and exact revenge upon the Demon Hunters who had sent you to hell previously. You take control over 3 characters that you recruited as a devil to face off against your enemies. Each of these characters have respective distinguishable abilities at their disposal, that stays true to their lore. The game also lets you cheat and manipulate your enemy’s health bar using a slider since you are technically playing the Devil. Rogue Lords is expected to come out in 2021 on Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Steelrising

Steelrising is an upcoming action-RPG, where you play as Aegis, a robot in female form in an alternate version of Paris. The game is basically a retelling of the French Revolution. But, this time with machines and robots. Players will be introduced to locations and monuments that are no longer in existence. The game will be featuring a vast world, parkour and many fluid mechanics offering more freedom in the streets of Paris along with the abundance of melee and long-range weapons to be found. There is no release window for this game yet.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood

The fourth reveal was from World of Darkness, who unveiled the gameplay for Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood. Players will take upon the role of Cahal, a werewolf, who desires to protect his friends and family from an evil corporation, Endron. The game allows you to take a stealthy approach in human form or transform into a wolf or a werewolf and unleash mayhem upon your enemies. Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood comes out 4 February 2021 on PC via Epic Games Store and the current and next-gen consoles.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown

Next on the list is KT Racing, who announced the long-awaited game in the Test Drive Unlimited series - Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. It is a 1:1 scaled open-world driving and lifestyle experience, with tons of customization options. As of now, there is no concrete release window for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown yet.

WRC 9 | Safari Rally Kenya Gameplay

The final reveal was more of a map reveal for the upcoming rally game, WRC9: World Rally Championship. The map location is in Kenya where players can drive through the warm, deserted safaris. The trailer starts out by showing the world and environment before cutting to some fast-paced driving sequences through local villages and some audiences. WRC 9  comes out on 3 September 2020 on PC via Epic Games Store and the current and next-gen consoles.

The overall event was short and sweet. It had pretty decent announcements and was produced really well with aesthetically pleasing transitions. You can check out the entire Nacon Connect presentation at the bottom of this article. Similarly, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and Electronic Arts also had their respective presentations, which were all held in association with the Summer Game Fest. Ubisoft will also be holding their online event, Ubisoft Forward on 13 July, of which you can check details here. You can also sign up to the Summer Game Fest here for any updates on upcoming online digital gaming events.

OxygenOS 10510 update to OnePlus 8 Pro brings back the Photochrom mode, but theres a catch

Several users of the OnePlus 8 Pro are claiming on Twitter and XDA Developers that a new update pushed out for the OnePlus 8 Pro uses the wide-angle camera in place of the colour-filter lens to produce the same effects, according to XDA’s Mishaal Rahman.

Multiple users today on XDA and Twitter (@linuxct and @niklasstrommen) have noticed that the Photochrom mode in the camera app seems to be using the wide-angle camera rather than the actual color filter camera. See this video by linuxct as a demonstration. pic.twitter.com/crXmMSpd4F

— Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman) July 7, 2020

The colour filter lens became the centre of controversy on the latest OnePlus flagship device after it was found to see through thin plastic objects and thin clothes. OnePlus took note of that after the phones went on sale in Europe and US, and disabled the camera in the next update. In India, however, the colour filter lens was never allowed to be used. It came disabled right out of the box, with the promise of a future update enabling it.

Looks like that update is nowhere in the form of the OxygenOS 10.5.10 update where OnePlus has seemingly fixed the issue, but as it turns out, it hasn’t quite done so.

The new OxygenOS 10.5.10 brings back the Photochrom filter

Instead of making the colour filter lens less potent to see through objects, the latest OxygenOS 10.5.10 that’s rolling out to OnePlus 8 Pro users in Europe uses the wide-angle camera to get the same effects using software. So, instead of using the actual colour filter hardware, OnePlus has doubled back to offer a software-based implementation on the primary wide-angle camera.

Hawk-eyed enthusiasts figured this out by turning on the Photochrom filter from the camera settings and covering each lens to see which one blocks the viewfinder. Turns out, it’s not the colour filter sensor located on the left side of the main camera array, but the middle lens in the camera setup. Which is the primary wide-angle 48MP camera.

But in all, the Photochrom mode is now back again, and this time, it can’t see through clothes. So OnePlus has solved the issue. But this also raises the question of redundancy. If it was possible for OnePlus to offer the Photochrom mode via the primary camera itself, why was the physical colour filter lens necessary? If it’s purely a software play, it may also be possible for older OnePlus devices to get the same feature through an update. Will OnePlus follow through? The colour-filter lens was supposed to set the OnePlus 8 Pro apart, by making it a unique feature. But at the end of the day, it’s easy to dismiss the feature as a gimmick over anything useful.

Amazon Prime Video now lets users have up to 6 profiles: How it works

The one feature that Amazon Prime Video lacked when compared to Netflix was Profiles. Let’s face it, one family will use one Amazon Prime Video account and since everyone has different tastes, the “continue watching” and "my list" looked pretty muddled up. Now, Prime Video users can finally have access to profiles, something we’ve seen on Netflix since it launched. Here we will tell you everything you need to know about profiles on Amazon Prime Video.

How many user profiles can I have on Amazon Prime Video?

According to Amazon, a user can have up to six user profiles (one default primary profile + five additional profiles, either adult or kids) within Prime Video on a single Prime Video account. This means that you could have a different profile for family members, or if you are like me, you will have profiles based on genres you enjoy watching.

How many simultaneous streams can take place from one Amazon Prime Video account?

Once again, Amazon says that a user “may stream up to three videos at the same time using the same Amazon account. You may stream the same video to no more than two devices at a time”. This means that if you have three TVs in your house, you can stream three different videos, one on each TV and enjoy. However, if multiple people want to watch the same content, then the same content can be streamed on only 2 devices at the same time.

How does Amazon Prime Video Profile and simultaneous stream compare to Netflix?

While Prime Video gives you access to 6 profiles with one account, Netflix gives you access to 5 profiles with one account. Amazon Prime Video has one plan in India priced at Rs 999 per year giving you the ability to stream simultaneously on three devices. On Netflix, the number of devices you can stream on is based on the plan you have. The premium plan priced at Rs 799 per month for Netflix gives you access to stream on 4 devices at the same time. The Rs 649 plan per month gives you access to stream on 2 devices at the same time. The Rs 499 per month plan gives you access to stream on only 1 device at a time. And the Rs 199 per month plan is limited to streaming on smartphones or tablets, once again, one device at a time. To stream in 4K and HDR, users need access to the top tier plan on Netflix.

Can I stream in 4K and HDR on Prime Videos?

Yes, the Rs 999 per year plan is the only plan and if the content is available in 4K and HDR, it will stream in 4K and HDR provided your TV supports it and so does the streaming device you are using. For example, the 1080p Chromecast or 1080p Fire TV stick will only show content in 1080p SDR. However, the 4K Fire TV Stick, or Mi Box 4K or gaming consoles like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X will stream in 4K and HDR when available.

Prime Video supports HDR Playback

What devices support Prime Video Profiles?

Prime Video profiles can be accessed on the following devices.

Android and iOS powered tablets and smartphones. The browser on Desktops and Laptops Prime Video app on Smart TVs Chromecast Apple TV - Gen 2 and 3 Fire TV Stick

Users should note that Profiles can be created and managed on all the above-mentioned devices except for the Apple TV. On Apple TV, users can only switch profiles on Prime Video.
